Best place in America. Super food restaurants music on the streets & people super friendly. If i ever muster the courage to go back to America it will be only for New Orleans. Lot of Love parties & jazzy food. Oh mama. Heaven 😎😁🍷🍸👠👡Be blessed people of New Orleans
3:18 "Well, that's everything you need to know about New Orleans. Except one thing... You can get the death penalty - Whoa! 'Wassup baby, you still doin this video?' Yeah we still workin it out man, you see that 'Man, well my wife just had a bunch of babies' Wow! 'You wanna come see?' Yeah, let's go!" 😆😆😆
As someone who lived in Baton Rouge I can confirm that everyone who's ever been to New Orleans has memorized the locations of every walgreens in the city
landypaule Ooooooohhhhh, Coooooooold Blooooooded!!! Normally, he annoys the shit out of me with his random piano key playing and his loud ass laughter. But he did a good job here.
This shows that he's definitely got the instincts to do comedy when it's scripted. He just doesn't know how to do improv comedy (yet). I'm betting if this show lasts, he'll be a musical Andy Richter, given enough time to learn. He seems ready, willing, and able to improve.
The reason you can hear him laughing strangely in the background is because no one in the audience reacted the way they wanted. He starts laughing and the audience responds. I think he is already doing just fine. It is a live show, and you have to have enough material to make a static show from it. Scripted or not. Both him and Stephen have done fabulous work. It is work, no matter how much fun they have. Jon also seems to be a barometer for Stephen when he makes a risky joke. Jon can be heard going ooh. I think that these must be pieces of communication between them.
I lost control at "boat" Seriously, though, the best part of this is him blowing off what he's doing to go see puppies and babies. That's peak New Orleans right there! Lol no place like home
I’ve visited New Orleans twice. Very funny and made me smile the entire time I watched. I’d like to see more segments like these, with Jon Batiste exploring cities rich with culture, history, and music. Music, as an art form is so important. It makes hearts happy and brings people together. In light of the current discourse and back to back tragedies in the world, we need more of things that make us smile and make us feel joyous. Thank you Stephen, Jon, and entire Late Show family. I depend on your content to stay sane and smiling. 😊💙
Anish Mohanty: I believe that my cousin Jon Batiste would be a better President than Trump if he was a Politician! I know that our cousin Belden Batiste is a Politician and would make a wonderful President!
How is Jon such a prodigy in music3 AND IN COMEDY!????? Someone please explain when he got this good infront of the camera! WHYYYYY do some people have it all and I am so TALENTLESS!!!!!❤️
People complain about his laughter! I agree, it sometimes sounds, how shall we say, like he’s tommin’. (On purpose, I think- did anyone ever complain about Ed McMahon)? But he’s a f’kin genius! When he reacts to the monologue by playing snippets of Monk tunes (today would be Thelonious Sphere’s one hundredth birthday) or bits of great american standards, he is being absolutely BRILLIANT! e.g., whenever the peepee tape is mentioned, he plays the beginning of a Monk tune called (get this), “Trinkle, Tinkle”! Hurricane storm surge? “I Cover the Waterfront” (Heyman and Green)! I don’t think that even half of the band members know how quick and hip he is. And forget about the television audience, they’ll never get it. I just hope that the cue sheets include each and every title, so that the copyright holders get a taste. Especially Monk’s heirs! (This was my full-time job in the 1980’s, making sure that the composers, authors and publishers of the music got their fair share). Keep up the good work, and stay human.
I would love to see Jon in more! More if his music on the show, more with other musicians that come on, him interviewing people! I love his music and his vibe!
Okay, that was disappointing. I'm just kidding, it was hilarious, but what about the snowballs! You can't talk about New Orleans and not mention snowballs! I would *drive* down there just to get a few of those bad boys.
It's just a Twilight Zone, again Jon Batiste is freakin' cool but how... how... a person so cool and nice can be that annoyin' person during the Colbert numbers?. Welcome to the Twilight Zone!
Jon is such a lovable dork in these vids ... ^^
They laughed when he brought up Walgreens, but if you've lived there you know they are major landmarks.
This is accurate.
“He’s not dead, he’s just drunk.”

Jon has comedy game! His musical timing translates perfectly to his comic timing. Great job!
42 thumbs up fr colbert staff and crew members?? ;)
Hilarious! We are witnessing what happens when this man is given the freedom to let loose 🐿
I want more!
His segments are always so wholesome.
I fucking love Jon!!!!!! More of him please
....but how CAN one get the death penalty while in New Orleans?! Don't leave us hanging man!
Erik Arteaga but that is how...
oof
you probably get hanged there for composing bad jazz music or some shit like that
Erik Arteaga
Murder. He didn't say it was _only_ in Nawleans.
Its aJOKE,baby! A lead into him taking off with a friend as more important and interesting than making a vid!
Okay, but the Walgreens on Canal and Baronne is a classic joint. He’s spot on about all the Walgreens being legit
If you looking for it , it's across Canal street from......Walgreen's.
He's very smooth and natural. So likable.
I've never seen John as part of a comedy skit! This was actually hilarious! I want more!
More!!! BLESSED 🐝...
Jon is the unsung hero of the late show
3:18 "Well, that's everything you need to know about New Orleans. Except one thing... You can get the death penalty - Whoa! 'Wassup baby, you still doin this video?' As someone who lived in Baton Rouge I can confirm that everyone who's ever been to New Orleans has memorized the locations of every walgreens in the city
Jon in his natural habitat :-) Love it to see him so cool and not over the top. I like that much more than his laughter in the show, I have to admit.
Musicians do not alwyas make the best Ed McMahons. He does play his N'Orleans ass off, tho...
landypaule Ooooooohhhhh, Coooooooold Blooooooded!!! Normally, he annoys the shit out of me with his random piano key playing and his loud ass laughter. But he did a good job here.

I love his piano playing, especially whenever they do a baby joke, he'd pull out the rugrats theme.
That was so hilarious! We need to see more of Jon Batiste comedy bits!
Hilarious. Jon Batiste is soooo brilliant and so multi-talented, it is just ridiculous!!! What a star.
If you get Dennis to say "I don't know", he turns into a plate of crawfish.
tale as old as time
Cool, relaxed, kind, and sexy as all get out, a gifted artist and musician, is Baptiste.
Thank god this guy finally got some more lines
This video was so much fun to watch! It puts a smile on your face :)
Jon should get his own show. This was FUNNNN
Bring this segment back ok please
Isn't Old Orleans in France?
Yes, the New Orleans area was colonized by the French.
Bad Hombre yep, so... pretty accurate?
No, that's just "Orléans".
Yeah. Like he said...don't go there.
Jon should get with amber and Alley with Seth Meyers and make their own renegade talk show
Penelope Petite I'd watch that.
Awesome! I love those segments !
awesome. Thanks. :)
I love Jon
John Batiste*, that jacket is pure style!
Jon Batiste
Should have had Colbert, cackling and vocalising in the background, to Jon's jokes. Turnabout, see how he likes it! 😀
Love these vids with John
The "aaaaaahhhhhh" scream was some of the best acting i've ever seen lol
Yeah Jon!!!! Awesome video!! Thanks for doing our city right.
I lost control at "boat"
Seriously, though, the best part of this is him blowing off what he's doing to go see puppies and babies. That's peak New Orleans right there! Lol no place like home

Love it! More Jon and the band!
I was born and raised in St. Bernard Parish and I can vouch for all this being 100% accurate af
Jon is so great. I'm glad to see them using him more. I think sending him to different cities and have him do these kinds of tours would be great.
As i'm living here right now, I can confirm this is all 100% correct
Soo adorable!!

He's right!
You can get the best poboys there at any gas station.
I miss Jon's infamous "Cooooooooold-blooooooooooded!" 🙁
Old Orleans is in France I believe. Anyone from there? I'm sure it's not that bad.
How is Jon such a prodigy in music3 AND IN COMEDY!????? Someone please explain when he got this good infront of the camera! WHYYYYY do some people have it all and I am so TALENTLESS!!!!!❤️

He's very funny!
Jon forgot about all the friendly people down in New Orleans, they are so kind.
But, he embodys how people are!!
THAT WAS REALLY FUNNY! Nice one BATISTE! :D
Number one place to visit for me!
hilarious!!! i love all of Jon's bits...
This is hands down the best ongoing segment they had. Glad they brought it back.
The Jazz Cowboy is definitely consistent with his look
I would watch a series of travel vlogs like this! Keep them coming!
Love Jon! Love this!
FYI, those “City Park” shots were NOT done in City Park. I don’t recognize the type of tree, and we don’t have hills 😂
They have parts in City Park I have never seen because it's huge. Why would he NOT film in there.
Yep. That's all I got to say.
Must, Go To Old Orleans!!!!
I would love to see Jon in more! More if his music on the show, more with other musicians that come on, him interviewing people! I love his music and his vibe!
Jon as we know you are a great entertainer
MORE JON BATISTE VIDEOS!!! 😂

Okay, that was disappointing. I'm just kidding, it was hilarious, but what about the snowballs! You can't talk about New Orleans and not mention snowballs! I would *drive* down there just to get a few of those bad boys.
So fucking hilarious!
Screw it, I'm going to Old Orleans.
Love those segments with Jon Batist! It's Stephen Colbert with Spice!
As someone born and raised in New Orleans, I approve.
"In N'Orleans, we _love_ the pelican. That's why I _laugh_ this way."
Yes, yes, yes, and more YES!!!!!!
I always knew you could get the Death Penalty for answering Dennis incorrectly
for NOLA and can confirm, this is all true.
holy shit this is hilarious
"My wife just had a bunch of babies, wanna come see?" 😂😂😂😂😂
Multi talented that Jon Batiste. He is going places. Well deserved.
It's just a Twilight Zone, again Jon Batiste is freakin' cool but how... how... a person so cool and nice can be that annoyin' person during the Colbert numbers?.
