First of all, I love Bill and I don’t even know him. Thank you Bill for all of your hard work. Secondly, you never need to apologize for changing plans. Your videos are for you and I feel privileged just to be able to witness the progress on your property. We are only guests on your channel. I’m not sure if you said slope. Could be that or grade. The roof on the cottage is looking bananas! I think you should build a small cottage on property so I can come visit regularly!! 😂 When you said you caught the gopher all I could think of was Bill Murray!!
I believe the term you were looking for is grading the slope. Too bad you don't know anyone with goats. My milking goats love tumbleweeds. Side note: You may want to add extra support to the back of the cottage to support the roof. Usually the walls do that, but if it is going to be open, that may collapse with time. Just do like you would on a porch. Glad you got the gopher, I had one that escaped the trap, and I never got him again. He took over the garden and won that side of the property.
I bought that thing... and it worked... ONCE. Then the gophers got wise and went straight around it afterwards. Also, where is one gopher, there are many more. I REALLY hope you have more luck than I did.
The gravel in the pathways between the vegetable beds is very soothing to the eye. It ties everything together and makes it look finished. Congratulations on your huge progress and Happy Gardening! 🏡💐🍀
Love seeing your gardens coming together! You have got a tremendous amount done, looking forward to next weeks video showing the entire progression! I vote stone for the bottom of the cottage. 😊
Just love the update. Glad you got the gopher! With all that dirt, do you need to do a retaining wall by the fence to keep it all in? Maybe it is just the camera angle that makes it look so steep. I cannot wait to see more. You are doing such a great job!!!

STONE. Historical trivia: Cotswold thatch cottages (which your cottage imitates) saved the expensive dressy materials like brick for entry floors and fireplaces. Stone was universally reserved for utilitarian foundations, steps, walkways, etc. Besides, collecting and piling mid-size stones will do a better job of hiding the concrete pilings and be super cheap and easy to install. Piling up stones doesn't take a slew of advanced masonry skills. I think the brick will be "off key" and look too artificial for the foundation. Your fan and amateur architectural historian, Linda
Hi Brian, I’d love to make you a stained glass window panel for your amazing cottage as I make stained glass ( I’m also british so loving the thatched cottage) Just get in touch if you like me to make something ( a gift from me I return for all the gifts you give me through your videos!)
Tumbleweed = compost? For a beautiful speciment plant that will blow you head off with it's scent, Philadephus - Belle Etoile. On a warm afternoon I first smelled this mature plant 40 years ago. Just get it Brian, you will thank me for years. Enchante is French for Enchanted - Onshauntay as we pronounce it.
Why don't you plant a row of lavender at the bottom of the cottage to hide the gap instead of putting in a wall. That would fit with the cottage garden look. Not sure about the stained glass window though leaded windows might be better. I love the path, that looks so cool now. It's really coming together. I can't wait to see the two year review
Hi Brian. Your vision for your property is inspiring! Question about Daisy's pasture. How did you know how to sculpt the land without hiring a surveyor or engineer of some sort? For example, removing trees fits the design but can also remove protection from soil erosion. So many things to consider! Looking forward to seeing the roof come together on the enchanting chicken house. Take care, J Horney'
"I get so giddy when it happens" hahahahahahaa, I get that Brian!!! I did not enjoy killing anything.....that is....until the day the racoon ate ALL my sweet corn. I'll spare you the gory details but let's just say he won't be eating any more corn. 😵
