For the start of the second level of Donkey Kong, just jump on the elevator and ride it all the way up, rather than going up the ladders. You do climb faster than the elevator, but when you get to the top, you have to wait and you end up jumping on the same platform anyway. So there is no reason to race it just to wait for it to catch up. And by being on the elevator already, you will save a fraction of a second when it is time to get off. Which could be the difference between beating the fireball or not. It also gives you the option of jumping off the elevator at the bottom of the next platform to try to get the fireball to come down the right ladder. Both fireballs and barrels are manipulatable in Donkey Kong. I haven't timed it myself, but I bet even jumping off at the bottom and climbing the ladder up to get to the next (down) elevator is jut as fast as waiting for the first (up) elevator to reach the top
I can't for the life of me figure out why Nintendo doesn't do the same format for the weekly events that they do for the legendary challenge. Instead of picking however many challenges to do individually, they should make you do that all in one run for one total time. At least that would make the mind numbingly easy/short Easy challenges like "pop a balloon" a little more tolerable if they are combined with others. And it wouldn't be a leaderboard of mostly ties for those easy ones that are so easily optimized.
