THE COACH
Patrick
It's true, the players are Sinner and Sinner
XD
Yes, I've noticed the same thing over the last 5 years. The thin component is important in order to keep their bodyweight down, so they can move as quick as the smaller guys.
The shorty players don't have chance.
@pierosangermein2071 So long as the tall guys stay skinny, you're right the shorty's are at a disadvantage
What's up your thought about 5'10 height,is that short?
@@dash5687 In modern men's tennis, yes.
@@pierosangermein2071 Alcaraz with 4 slams disagrees.
it is a delight to hear patrick discuss tennis, always has some gems up his sleeve
But I don't like the thinner tennis players, I prefer Alcaraz, Rune, Dimitrov...
This is my ideal of tennis player.
I dont think what you like or not like matters 😂
The lankiness of the taller & thinner guys makes them boring for sure.
alcaraz is a physical specimen. honestly it does not get talked about enough.
Dimitrov is as heavy and as tall as Djokovic. Still tall and thin to me.
Nobody cares
Looks like I will practice being tall from now on 😂
Is that Fonseca you put for Michelsen??
Yes, it s João Fonseca. Michelsen is not supported for On
It used to be that 6 foot was the perfect height for male tennis players. Now it’s 6’4” now.
I mean Sampras was 6’2 wasn’t he? Fed 6’1 Nadal 6’2 Djoker 6’2… it’s been an advantage for a long time
@@andrewescu Nadal is closer to 6'0 I think, but yeah the best players have always been 6'0-6'4
I say 6'2 seems to be golden height. 6'4 yo 6'6 players suffered
Alcaraz, de minaur. And me 😊
As a 5'7 guy I usually support the shorter guys. Short stature can be compensated with technique and intelligence. For example some of the greatest football players of all time are 5'7. Ronaldo is much taller, but Messi dominated him. In boxing Usyk dominates the heavyweight division despite being shorter than everyone else.
Only way for smaller guys 6 feet or under to keep up with taller longer armed players is to use more powerful racquets so they don't have to swing outside of their comfort zone to stay competitive.
Agree with you 1000%
I just Shared this with Diego ...
Diego used to be top 10 - he’s a goat, unbelievable what he has done with his height in modern tennis. Definitely overlooked
Make one point to be serve & volley in each game. It's going to add a new dimension.
Interseting idea i like it! Also no second serves would be great as it would cut down on dead time where the ball is not in play
True. Even Federer and Nadal were both 185 cm.
I think Nole changed it towards thinner players, without even us realizing it. Roger and Rafa, despite being tall, were not as thin as the new "from 2020 on" - let's call it that way - generation, at all, as well as Agassi before them
I volunteered at a challenger last year, the players were TOWERS. To the point where I thought maybe alot of tennis elongates the body.
However incredibly enough the runner up was a short guy, propably the shortest of the bunch.
Short 3 point basketball shooters are driving the tall guys into tennis now 😂
@@greysenleo LOL
One remedy for this. Reverse raquet technology to about the late 80's
Why does it need a 'remedy'? It's just the way the game has evolved.
@michaelfoley906 The game has "evolved" purely around racquet technology and its become boring and one dimensional. Compare this to the late 80's and early 90's where lots of different styles and types of players existed. Now its just about hitting the ball as hard as you can and blow your opponent off the court.
How about re-instating wood rackets? See how these dudes would do if they had to rely on more SKILL and "finesse" in their games.
True, rarely see the shorter players (ala Hewitt, Agassi) getting a run these days
Tennis will be the best sport if it changed to one serve and one hand on the racquet at contact. Get rid of big servers and more importantly,, one handed backhands only which transforms the sport into all court tennis
Makes sense low weight for movement + tallest for reach
Djokovic is still a comparatively normal height for the mt Rushmore of tennis players if I include Fed, Nadal and Sampras - they’re all between 6’1 and 6’2. All the players he’s mentioned barring Sinner are literally from generation chokes who haven’t won a slam.
Meddy is a slam winner.
Old School VERSIONS: Pete Sampras and Gustavo Kuerten
Longer levers. Physics 101.
There hasn't been a GS champion or world no 1 under 6ft tall since 2002 can Tien overcome that trend?
isn't Stan 5'11?
@@Baratheon.Stan is listed at 6
@@Baratheon. 6' 0" according to Google...
Tien😂😂😂😂
@ He's probably a tall 5'11 or the shortest of 6 footers
His shorter height plays a role in him cooking many 1st serves
It's not changed really. Ideal height is still about 6 foot 2. Shorter than that and you need a bit more muscle, taller than that and you need to be a little skinnier.
Jannik Thinner
Says: "Michelsen is tall"
Proceeds to show a Joao Fonseca picture
Carlos is built like a hybrid athlete. If you are built like Arnold Schwarzenegger then you give up stamina. I was 250lbs built like a classic bodybuilder and cardio takes an impact
The game is about who’s the better athlete not necessarily who is the better tennis player, same with football
Forgot the main thing, doping is on other level now as well!!!😂
Prove that below 6 feet can dominate top 10. Common you can do it. Play & think smart guy.💪🎾
The court dimensions were designed with shorter people and different balls/rackets in mind. Maybe the courts should be made bigger to adapt to this
new player.
aint no way bro said Michelsen and put Fonseca
The reason Carlos does not fit is that he is only one with "hands'. The rest are brute hitters. Do I like their tennis? No Possibly I'll do what I did in the 90s when serve and volley took over everything else: Focus on WTA and forget ATP..
WTA today is horrible. I´ll stick to the big guns, the ATP.
You don't like brute hitting, so youd watch WTA. That makes no sense man
New tennis SUCKS. players have stick legs. They use the giant light artificial rackets and artificial strings. They stand on the baseline. They don’t know the game inside the baseline. They don’t know what a volley is or a drop shot is. They have no charisma / personality. The court is only 78 feet long. There are no standards. Allow any type of racket and string. The equipment gives the power and the top spin and the control to the player. The game is ruined. Real sports like the MLB and the NFL have standards. Baseball bats have been solid wood and the same material and dimensions for 100 years. You cannot change it. The NFL football also has not changed for many decades. They have standards.
Rune is another one with hands over brute force but the guy gets blasted off the court way too often and it makes me sad that skill isn't rewarded these days
@@canchero724 is it not a skill to be able to hit with power and precision? to cleverly move the opponent around the court and to exploit openings
I always thought I was to tall for tennis at 6“4
Next will be 2 forehands ... not too hard to learn if committed to it.
Fonseca's kind of thick honestly. So is Michelsen
I thought that of Fonseca too but his weight is listed at 160 or something around that. I wonder if that’s up to date
Lendl was thin and tall, so was Becker, so was Edberg, so was Ivanisevic, so was Sampras. Nothing new here.
Perichard!
Don't forget Giovanni perickard
There's also much more $$ in tennis now, that's another reason more athletic people (men and women), compared to McEnroe's era, are becoming pro tennis players, IMO.
Showed Fonseca at the wrong time. 😂 Michelson
That is not michlelson in the photo , it is Fonseca 😂😂😂😂
Like Guga Kuerten!!! But had that hip problem... what a shame. Could have win more 2 or 3 slams.
It is easy to have good endurance and power while being thin and tall thanks to clostebol and co 🤔😉😏
Not recently new. But new compared to 1960s
So, does that mean short guys have a big disadvantage?
Yes, it has been that way for the last 40 years. It's even more of a disadvantage these days.
Yes. In tennis and real life as well
When you noted Michelsen it shows Joao 🤦🏼♂️ who’s tall too though :) unless I didn’t see clearly 😂
Shelton?
Well, thing is, what took so long...? I saw this eventuality over 30 yrs ago...
Most athletic body type belonged to players on the 2000s and early 2010s.
One day a guy like wemby will arrive and its finished 😂
Was not Michelsen. Was João fonseca.
Oh please! They are thinner because of their age. So was everyone else when they started in their teens. I am a bit surprised with this mallarcy, esp. coming from a very expensive coach. The ideal height for a top performing, meaning top slam winning athlete is between 6 and 6'2 to 3" No more, no less. It helps with the reach while giving enough bone strength for sprints and change of directions. Many talented players on top ten have been below and above this range over the years, but won a few GS championships, if at all at their best.
even this guy is wearing van cleef 😅😂
Because of this they have to move the service line toward the net. Service is becoming 60% of tennis.
Way more simple solution, one serve only
@ This is a good solution too.
Michelsen looks like João Fonseca. Are they twins? 😂
That can be an adventage for Carlos... Difeerent body, different style...
Tennis used to be much more fun...
99% of the players play the same way (huge serves, almost none net play and strong strokes from the line. Thats it
Sampras, Federer, wawrinka, Laver...
It was much more beautiful to watch
So ready to join the new era. 🎾 OUÍ!
Alcarase
They are sinner and sinner. Correct 😂
Pretty sure that was Fonseca not Michelson lol
The Argentinian player Schwartzman (170 cm) was able to beat Zverev (198 cm) twice, in ATP Tournaments, last time in 2019 in the US Open. And even Diego Schwartzman was able to reach the ATP Ranking 8 in 2020, which was not that long ago, despite being such a small guy compared to most other players on tour.
David Ferrer es otro ejemplo con su 175 cm. Fue un gran tenista muchos años top 10, y llego al top 3 en el 2013.
Guess that’s why pickleball is taking over. ATP needs to do something before it’s too late
And how many steps to get to balls less ...and reach across the court more
Did you leave out Rune on purpose or you consider him short??😂
Fonseca is not that skinny, still tall though and power strokes
THINNER AND THINNER SINNER AND SINNER...BUT CARLITOOS IS GOING TO SHOW THEM ...😉🤣🤣🤣💪🏻🎾❤️🇪🇸
Sampras: hold my beer
Who? Nobody cares
@pierosangermein2071 you did. You are nobody
They need more genius touch like federer, kyrgios. This sport now lacks variety, suprise like federer would do. Just a bunch of tall freaks hitting harder hahah
Sinner is the most boring of them all
The new tennis sucks. All it is, is "bomb the serve" over and over. . . borrrrringggggg.
That´s the story since the mid 70´s when Tanner got in the circuit. Then we had Becker in the 80s. In the 90s, Sampras, Ivanisevic, Krajicek, etc... In 2000s Roddick, Federer (not a bomber but an sniper), Karlovic, Isner, Opelka... Some called Tanner, Becker and Sampras "boring". NOT ME.
@@miguelbarahona6636 I can now see why pickleball is replacing tennis worldwide.
@ Thanks God pickeball exists only in the US. Tennis is a very demanding and difficult sport.
@@andrewp911people in the us are fat and lazy. they can’t play tennis so they play pickleball
And Ben Shelton? Tien Learner? Not all are Ectomorph
Shelton is over 6 feet I think.
Ben is 6''4.
@@zayaansays6820 is he skinny?
@@masonm5666 he's slim, as are other tall players like sinner, zverev, djokovic and all. They are just skinny by appearance, but are powerful.
Yes,but the majority of the players you ve mentioned, have not won grand slams..
Djokovic, sinner, and Medvedev have not won slams? That’s news to me.
@qwertyutopia4667 djokovic does not belong to the new generation, Medvedev has no consistency and i used the word "majority".. which means many, not all of them..
Thank you.
What about the woman? I feel they look stronger /solid?
Nobody cares WTA
@@pierosangermein2071 wow, was that necessary?
You honestly think women are stronger than men when it comes to sports?
@@ellisiacleave6001 😂😂😂
Alors il serait temps de changer le règles et les dimensions !!!!!
Fils so thin kekw.
You look like you’re sitting inside a barrel full of water 😊
yeah but who wants to look like that
Yes but nobody likes the style of Meddy, Titsi and Zverev. Simner is the exception because he plays attacking tennis
This “new trend” has been happening for 20 years
We've noticed this before you did.....
Thin ?? Tsitsipas, Sverev ???
😂😂😂
They are thin for their height. Their bodies are not ribbed or anything
Perichard!
