I found you today by typing in "sewing" ! And im so happy I did! I loved this video and another of yours! I love your easy going personality and the way you love to take risks on tweaking the patterns! I am a young 70 and you have given me the courage to jump in and sew some clothes again! And not freak if they are not perfect.😊
Awesome! Glad you found me! I do love to take risks and have fun with sewing :) Thanks for watching!
THE COAT, THE TAN BUTTON UP JACKET, THE BUTTON UP SHIRT
That green floral shirt is perfect for you
You've just inspired me to make my own clothes! I've been thinking about it for a while, now... I'm motivated to stop thinking and do it. My 'specialty' is making backpacks, pencil pouches, and make-up bags. Time for clothes! Thank you for this channel!
Yay!! I'm so glad you're inspired! I was making accessories and home goods before clothes and picked it up fast! Good luck!
I really like your peplum style tops and wrap tops. Love the white top you are wearing. Thanks for showing it fully. I like your style too. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! :)
That first dark blue dress looks amazing on u! omgosh!
U are so right about the puffy jacket/purse delemia- I 🤔💭 I was the only one!!! Ur awesome!
I’m a new subscriber and fairly beginner sewer. I’m 5’8 with a similar body type although I’m plus size 12-14 depending on the time of the month…anyway, I feel encouraged to start my own DIY wardrobe because I also find that I don’t like the way things fall on body so I have to adjust things often. I find this a very encouraging video. Thank you.
So glad you found this encouraging, thank you for watching! I'm 5'9" and anywhere between a 10 (bust) to 14 (hips), depending on the pattern and time of month :)
That puffer coat!! 😍😍😍
I love your puffer jacket, great idea with all the pockets, I am a long way from making something like that, but I will make it a goal of mine. Love your ideas I will continue watching your videos as I move forward with my new hobby.
Thanks so much! That puffer jacket is still one of my all time favorite makes--I've worn it for two winters now.
I really enjoyed this video. My first time viewing you and it won’t be my last. I love your style. New subscriber! Will be going back to watch your other videos. 👗🧵🪡🥰
Thank you! I really appreciate that! :) So glad you enjoyed the video!
Same here! Great to find someone with similar body type as myself.
Enjoyed watching what you made in 2021. I agree, make the blue dress shorter.I too am changing my sewing wardrobe so far so good. Thanks again for showing us your creative work ,a delight to watch.😁😄
The blue dress looks great on you!!!
Oh thank you!
Flattering. You do look gorgeous in the blue.
Thank you so much!
These are really nice garments you've made 😍 Glad I found your channel 💖
Thank you!
Casey, you have the most amazing style! I love my Ava dresses and now I really want to try the Romy! Everything you've made is perfection x
Thank you so much! Your Ava dresses turned out absolutely gorgeous!
I agree, jeans are such a satisfying sew after all those details!
Right?! My handmade jeans are probably my most-worn items--so proud of them!
so happy i took the time to watch this video!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
i had no idea all these hacks are available to your already awesome patterns 😱
thanks so much for all the great info 😊
Aw I'm so glad, thank you!! :)
I hate carrying a purse, so I've been buying Berne brand coats the last few years - the ones I buy have a zipper pocket in the left sleeve and that's my purse! I need to make your puffer coat and add that feature, I work outside a lot in the winter and the Berne coats are not that warm.
Yes, big pockets are a must in all of my coats! My puffer has a pocket for everything!
I love your focus on pants, tops and outerwear - that's what I'm about for 2022. Great style but very comfortable and WEARABLE for everyday. Thank you also for ideas for the Cozi Jacket - I've got it on my table ready for a black french terry hoodie and now I can see how really versatile it is with other fabrics - loved the Puff. This will be my go to outerwear.
Thank you so much and thabks for making the Cozi Jacket! ❤
Hi Casey! Just found your channel. Love your winter coat so much! And the McCall's overalls are so cute. Nice makes, love your style, so casual yet very chic and feminine. Thanks! ~Angela
Thank you, Angela! I think you described my style perfectly! :)
Inspirational video. Thank you so much . You are easy to listen to.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
I love it when you hack your own patterns, and especially if you make a video about it! It teaches us how to look at patterns as a starting point for our creativity and that if you are on a budget you don't feel limited :) Thank you
Definitely!! That's how I've always sewn and something I always have in mind when designing the patterns. Glad you like it! Thanks for watching. :)
omg the overalls are so cute
I have got to get my hands on that pattern
also that square neck top .. you rock it. fits so well, love it!
This was such a fun video! I love getting that window into your pattern drafting process, hearing what worked and what didn't. It's also nice to see what you make/wear that isn't your own. Thank you for your openness, Casey!
Thanks so much for watching! I love sharing that stuff, so I am glad you enjoyed it! :)
I want a tutorial for how to make the shirt you are wearing! So cute!!
Lovely collections you've got there, I love your black jean. I think I'm going to start to sew again after watching your videos.
Thank you!
Great first impression, only 5 minutes in. Fantastic work on that coat. Very inspiring.
Thanks so much!
Great, great, great video…liked everything you made, especially the olive and yellow Mood-fabric blouse, with the ruffle. I’d like to try this…trying to get back into sewing more…feel very inspired. Be Blessed!
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it and feel inspired :)
you're a really great teacher😊
Thanks! :)
Fabulous wardrobe makes. Thanks for the inspiration. Definately interested in your patterns.
That was a good watch as a seamstress myself. Not my style on some of them, but brilliant sewing. Really impressed, I shall subscribe as watched a couple of your videos.
Thanks
P.E.A.C.E
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! :)
I want your whole wardrobe lol. So happy to have found your page! I am catching up on all your videos 😍
Haha thank you!! It is a work in progress! :) Thanks for watching!
So good to discover your channel! Your makes look fab and I am definitely going to check out your patterns. Also, without wanting to sound weird, I think I am a similar body shape to you - I am 176cm with a curvy bum (101cm hips) and 74 cm waist. So it’s nice to see you in your makes as I guess those could work for me too 😊. Anyway, great video, very inspiring and thank you!
Glad you found me! Yes we are very similar in size (not weird at all! 😅)--Height and waist are pretty spot on, although my hips are around 110 cm. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Wow ,I just love all that you made, lots of the special patterns
Thank you so much!
I'm binge-watching all your YT videos...love your makes, love your style. Going to print out your patterns now...lol :)
Aw thanks so much, glad you are enjoying the videos!
I really do love your clothes
Thank you!
Beautiful! Thank you!
Also really love the checkered shacket at towards the end!
Thank you! :)
My first time seeing you. Love your style. You're makes are adorable. Subscribed. Can't wait to see more.
Thanks so much for that! :)
Great makes. Wow really love the navy maxi dress very flattering 🥳
Thank you! I love that navy dress! One of my faves :)
I love your patterns so much. I hope you release the ponte pants. They look amazing!
Thank you so much!
Love everything! But especially that blue wrap dress. Oh my goodness. Awesome. Looks so beautiful on you. I'm scared of wrap tops, just because I never feel confident they'll fit/sit right. I've tried a few, with semi-success but nothing I'm comfortable wearing out all day. Maybe I'll try again this year. You've definitely inspired me to try. :)
Thank you so much! The last time i wore that dress was in the summer--i forgot how much I loved it! My fabric choice, while kind of a pain to sew with, was good for the fit too I think: a crinkle rayon with just a tiny bit of stretch/give so I could get it snug at the bust and waist. Not gonna lie, I was kinda regretting not making the pattern a wrap style after this video 😅
@@PatternScout Did I miss the place where I can get this pattern? I love it!
@Donna Wilkins Thanks! It's actually a pattern hack of my Ava Dress pattern (patternscoutstudio.com). The original pattern is not a wrap dress, but looks very similar :)
Wauw amazing designs!
Thanks!
All your makes are absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much!
I can't wait to see the video on the Cozi drawstring jacket. I have been itching to do a field jacket with the same pattern.
Awesome! Yes, I am planning to post that one soon :)
Oh my I would actually love to see the Wrap-style maxi dress as a pattern!!!!
One day I really need to make it into a pattern (or do a tutorial for a pattern hack). Every time I wear it I am reminded how much I love it!
I am currently making my 2nd McCall’s 7969 dress. The first one is too big, but I used a thrifted duvet cover for fabric. My 2nd attempt is in burnt out velvet - this could be a complete disaster. Love the top that you made from this pattern and also seeing all of your makes from 2021.
Thank you! It is such a great pattern! Burnout velvet sounds like a gorgeous pick for this pattern 😍
Tell me how you stay in such good shape! Love the maxi dress but I’m starting to wear spanx-like garments to hold my belly in 😂
Loved this! Now I’m going to binge the rest.
Thank you so much!
I just found your channel and I am so impressed with your makes and pattern designing abilities. The rib cage levi hacked jeans look awesome on you. Recently i paid a fortune for some Eileen Fischer tan pants and am inspired to hack them It should be a lot easier than jeans. One of my favorite dresses is the mccall's 7969. I reduced the sleeve volume and lined the bodice on mine. It's very interesting to see the multiple ways you use a single pattern.
Thank you so much! Oh yes, I think Eileen Fisher styles would be SO easy to copy--lots of clean lines and minimal silhouettes. That McCall's 7969 is one of my new faves! I see more versions of that one in my future. And I love getting as much mileage as possible out of a pattern, gives me a little challenge without the frustration of fitting a totally new garment! haha
All fantastic makes that look great on you.
Thank you so much!
I just found your channel and am in love! I have similar coloring to you and love your style. That first jacket you made is gorgeous! I’m trying to get back into sewing after having two babies and am so glad I found your channel and website!
Also the red dress on you is stunning!
So glad you found me! Thank you for the kind words! :)
I have a similar body shape and I rarely find pants that fit nicely! And I still haven’t tackled my own pants pattern! I started a pattern for wide leg jeans last year then moved states and haven’t yet picked up up again. Thanks for the inspiration to tackle it again!
Anytime, best of luck on your pants pattern! Thanks for watching! :)
Loved all your makes! I especially loved your black ponte Knit pants. I also have trouble finding pants that fit! I'm 5'6, have a short torso and a long inseam.... Thanks for sharing all the great hacks its so inspiring!
Pants are just a literal pain in the butt to find for a lot of folks, I've learned! That's my second pair of ponte "jeans" and they are the most comfy, practical pants! I remember back in the late 90s/early 00s New York & Co carried Ponte dress pants and they were so awesome. I've had the hardest time finding them since!
I love, love, love your style!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!!
I ❤️ this video. I am going to make the white peasant blouse that you have on. I just ordered the pattern. I have been sewing for six decades. I still struggle with getting pants to fit!! I have a large waist (apple shape) and slim legs and my legs are short.
I'm so glad, thanks for watching!! ❤
Black pants both pairs look fab on you.
Thank you! :)
Awesome clothing
Thank you!!
ok, please do a video on how you made those overalls with an elastic waist. i have that pattern and made 2 pairs the way that pattern is originally drafted....i LOVE them. you don't know how much you need overalls in your wardrobe until you have them and i would loooove a pair like yours!!
They really are the cutest! I love them and that is a great pattern 🙌
Love it..beautiful and wonderfully done
Thank you!
I just discovered your channel! Love your creations! AND I TOTALLY THINK YOU SHOULD RELEASE YOUR JEANS PATTERN! Yours look like they fit perfectly! I especially love the black ones! I'm interested in learning how to make spring dresses. Our spring is a little chilly here, so maxi dresses work well for us! Or some comfy cute pjs?
Thank you! I really do love making jeans and have made so many pairs! I feel like I HAVE to make a jeans pattern eventually 😅 Thanks so much for watching!
Just came across your channel, looking to watching your other videos
Many thanks! :)
great work!
Thanks! :)
Button fly jeans very cute but for me, a hassle buttoning up and down! Key to sewing is knowing how to fit a pattern to one's body. Gone are the days where I can sew up something right off a pattern, let alone go by the measurements on the package.
You are gorgeous. Great style, talented, and beautiful figure. Well done. 👏👏👏 💐 Great work 👍
Wow, thank you!
Fabulous vlog. Very inspirational. 💕🧵
Thanks so much! 😊
Beautiful clothes
Thank you!
I loved the wrap dress version. Any chance you could make that pattern? I’ve been looking for the perfect wrap dress pattern and that dress fit perfect on you. Beautiful job!
Thank you! I might turn that into a pattern one day! But not sure when...😬 It is one of my favorite dresses, though!
I love your clothes and would love to make some for myself. How do you get your patterns?
Love love great job!
Thank you so much!
Loved this video we have alot in common as far as style goes and I as you got frustrated with my projects and have them unfinished but I do alter my clothing as best I can . I’m a perfectionist so takes me forever but man you have inspired me to start my sewing ventures again so you have anew subscriber and I’m looking forward to learning more . thank you, I think mentioned this before, love your earrings can you say where you purchased if you don’t mind 😊👍
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing ❤❤ so glad you are enjoying the videos! It's such a fun hobby.
Just found your channel. And am super excited to listen/follow as I learn to sew. I’ve been looking for a sewing 🧵 teacher for a couple months now. Do you have Patreon?
So glad you found me, Susan! I don't have Patreon at the moment, but you can support me by continuing to watch the videos or trying one of my patterns at patternscoutstudio.com :)
I would love to take an in person class from you! Would you ever consider it?
Aw thanks! I used to teach classes (mostly art, a little sewing) years ago, so maybe one day! But to be honest, UA-cam is more fun for me haha :)
@@PatternScout I have seen that Seams fabric in EL has started in person classes agian, but everything they offer is beginner level. Would love to see the Cozi jacket or the Byrdie as a class!
@@galewinegar5235 A couple of years ago, I was chatting with the owner about maybe doing classes there! It's such a great little shop. That was right before covid, so I haven't revisited the conversation. This is good to know though!
Thanks for sharing. 🌸
You bet! Thanks for watching! :)
Im excited to sew ur dress style mam..hope u teach us how to cut
Thanks!
Hi, I loved the military green jacket you showed after the thick green one. Where can I buy your pattern? Or maybe a UA-cam video on it. I love it and I am a beginner and I would like to try it. I might have missed the link to that jacket
Thank you! :) It is the Cozi Jacket pattern: patternscoutstudio.com/collections/pdf-patterns/products/cozi-jacket-pdf-sewing-pattern
@@PatternScout omg, thank you so much. You inspired me to try and make my own clothing. There are so many pieces that you've made that I love. I only have the hand sewing machine though
Hi Casey! I just found your channel and have to say, I loved your makes. I wasn’t expecting the McCall’s pants pattern to look as cute as they did. Based on the drawing on the envelope I would have never guessed that they would actually be super cute. I have to make a pair now. Question for you, how many inches did you add to your pattern to make them the length you cut out? I feel like that was the perfect length.
Yes that pattern is so simple and great! I have two pairs of pants and one pair of shorts that I live in during the summer! I can't remember how much length I added, maybe 13 inches? I know they were longer before I hemmed them and I just tried them on to figure out how much to trim (I always add way more length than I need and then trim...tall people probs!! 😅). Thanks so much for watching!!
I really love those black button up jeans. What pattern did you use please? Thank you
thank you! They are self-drafted (I copied a pair of Levi's jeans for the pattern and posted a video here on youtube if you search through my old videos). The closest pattern fit wise would be either ClosetCore Ginger Jeans or the Megan Neilsen Dawn Jeans. And the button fly is very similar to the True Bias Lander pants. Hope that helps!
Question regarding McCalls 8221 pants: What fabric did you use? Love the drape and fit.
Thanks! That is a linen/rayon blend (i think) from joann fabrics. They are my favorite pants for summer!
I cannot find the button fly jeans pattern anywhere 😔
Oohh I want to sew my closet too! Do you have good fabric store options around you? I get discouraged because there aren't any fabric stores around me. I guess it's hard to get inspired when you can't feel/see the fabrics in person.
I totally get that! I am lucky to have a JoAnn Fabrics near me and another small indie fabric store. Although, I do end up ordering online a lot (once i started sewing more regularly, choosing fabric online was easier). A lot of online stores also offer fabric samples, which I used to get a lot to build up a little swatch library for reference (Moodfabrics.com, fabric.com, Blackbirdfabrics.com, dharmatrading.com are a few that come to mind). I have also found great fabrics at the thrift store!
Where do you source your fabric from?
I love all these patterns! How do I get the Hannah tank hack?
Thank you! I have videos here on the channel instructing how to do the Hana tank hacks, so you just need the original pattern. :)
How do I get the Hannah tank pattern?
@LuzCinda Garner on my website (linked in the description) :)
Hello! I absolutely love the dress you wear in this video, which pattern have you used for this one?
Thanks! I've linked the patterns in the description . THe one I'm wearing while talking is the McCalls 7969.
Where do they sell pattern scout patterns? I'm a beginner in sewing. But i'm very interested in learning. How to improve my skills.
I have links in the video description to my patterns (and any other resources mentioned). I sell them online only, so you either print them at home or with a copyshop. Hope that helps!
What material is the shirt you’re wearing? I’m not sure if I missed that or not😂😂
It is a linen look fabric from JoAnn--"Galleria Good Nature Papaya Gauze". It is very light and flowy, I love it! I've also made pants with the green color.
What is your favorite weight/type of linen to use?
It just depends on the project...for tops I like light weight, maybe under 5 oz. and for bottoms I like something a little heavier so it is less see through. :) I also like linen blends (linen/rayon for ex) because they feel nice and have a nice drape.
Hips don't lie
😎👍
Hei, I was wondering, do you have a pattern for the square neck top at the 11:33 min? Thanks in advance
I don't at the moment, sorry! But it is an easy pattern hack! :)
@@PatternScout okay, thanks! How would you do this easy pattern hack, if I may ask? :)
@@shiftit6133 oh, sorry! That would be nice of me to share (I was thinking I showed it in this video, but I was confused)! :) I have a video where I show how I hacked it here: ua-cam.com/video/xdbs9a7qlNo/v-deo.html And in that video I show it without a binding, but if you want to add a binding around the neckline, you would do it the same as a standard neckline binding. Hope that helps!
@@PatternScout Oh, thank you! This was super helpful! I did not know this video yet :)
