Well, this should be fun. Madonna was a force during The GEN Xperience, and still going, and going, and going, today. But Let's focus on those films, WHICH I AM A FAN OF A NUMBER OF, but there were some misses. Come check out her 20+ Filmography and decide your favorite. Thanks for watching.
I didn’t realize how many movies she had done. I think one of my favorite things is her singing “Hanky Panky” on Dick Tracy. That is an earworm for sure!
I didn't either. My research was eye opening. Most films were critical successes, but many were right up her alley. Oh, Lord...taht soundtrack was awesome.
A League of Their Own is my top Madonna film and Evita is a close second. She never disappoints when it comes to news bites and sensationalism…girl knows how to get attention
The best part of A Certain Sacrifice is a horrible (but catchy!) song that a deranged man performs acapella called "Screamin' Creamin' Demon Lover." I kept the tape cued up to that scene and would put it on just so friends would go, ""WTF are you making me watch?!" PS: You failed to mention Linda Fiorantino in Vision Quest. She might not have the clout today of Poppa, but she's still pretty recognizable from MIB and Dogma. Otherwise, you nailed everything in this video!
You should check out her role in the BMW Short films The Hire. She is in an episode called Star. Available on UA-cam. The Driver now carries an arrogant rock star who is visiting a major city. Played by Madonna, this title character wants to get away from her bodyguards in the Driver's BMW. He soon gets tired of her and decides to have a bit of fun.
Thank you for this video on Madonna's Hollywood career. I had no idea she was in so many films. The only ones i saw was League of Their Own and 007 Die Another Day. I thought she was okay in that and love her Bond theme song for the movie. She also did a great song for one of the Austin Powers movies, Beautiful Stranger.
Big Madonna fan. Thank you for the video. My best Madonna movies are: 1. Dick Tracy 2. EVITA 3. Desperately Seeking Susan 4. A League Of Their Own I LOVE the musical, EVITA. I was very excited when I heard she got the role as Eva Peron. She looks just like her! But I just didn’t think she sang some of the songs that well. She was weak in Don’t Cry For Me Argentina. Patti Lupone is still the #1 Eva Peron in my book.
I've been a Madonna worshiper since I was 14 just a little gay boy dancing around my room in my underwear to open your heart 😅 Material girl is my all time favorite Madonna song
I mean she worked with Susan Seidelman, James Foley, Woody Allen, Penny Marshall, Abel Ferrara, Uli Edel, Warren Beatty, Allison Anders, Spike Lee. Sure the movies weren't all great but it's not exactly awful list of directors she collaborated with.
She worked with great folks, for sure. But that doesn't mean she was always cast well, or that her acting was up for the challenge. As I mention, some of these movies were great and shouldn't be missed. But she is not great in all of them.
I remember her clothing line at Macy's called Material Girl not sure what happened to that line. But i had a cute hot pink dress from it I wore to my college graduation.
@@GENXPERIENCE with the movie Who's that Girl I loved the cartoon intro with the song Cousin a Commotion and now that I'm older I appreciate the movie Evita a lot more and Dick Tracy was a fun movie, I loved her character in it. I remember telling someone after watching the movie Dangerous Game that I didn't like it too much and the person said even though it has Madonna in it. And I said yeah I've always been more of a fan of her music rather than her movies.
One of my favorite songs. I got that soundtrack immediately, such a great album. I did look it up, I remember it now, and so glad you reminded me of the performance.
It's very sad to me that this women who basically made her own career and has been successful for decades is only talked about for how she looks. This would never happen to a man. Madonna is an intelligent, beautiful, tough as nails business woman who never let anyone tell her what to do. This is rare for a female in any walk of life. Not many people realize that she writes her own songs. She taught me, as a girl growing up, that women could be both sexy and intelligent and have a career. She has done a lot for the gay community as well. She put gay men in front of everyone's faces in her music videos and her documentary Truth or Dare. Everyone complains about her showing her body and about her Sex book but I never really got why. You don't have to buy the book. You don't have to watch her videos. Why do you want to control this woman and why do you care about what she does so much? It's just a shame the way we treat women over 50. Women are expected to be celibate after 50 and yet men can date 20 year olds at 70 and no one blinks. Madonna is incredibly talented. Look at her wide range of songs. Many of which are much deeper than people care to see. Maybe if everyone would stop focusing on what Madonna looks like they would see an incredible body of work from a very talented artist.
Madonna was a trendsetter and gave a lot of people confidence and moxie. I don't see her looks as being the only thing discussed. I see it on her actions and her talent, too. Good thing my show was not about her looks. Or did you not watch it and assumed it was about her looks? This was her talent as a movie star. I think people do discuss her talent a lot. Sure, they have opinions when anyone does things to their façade that make no sense...woman OR MAN. Of course we talk about men that way. Just people don't seem to focus on that. They want to focus only when it is about woman. However, Madonna is talented in so many ways...but she did not have the best Movie Career. That is a fact.
@@GENXPERIENCE I watched the entire video. I just hate that everyone needs to comment in some way about her looks. It should be a non issue. As for her actions I don't really see her doing anything now that she hasn't done before. It's her body. If she wants to show it off, that's fine with me. Not sure why anyone would care really. I know Madonna did not have a great movie career. I love Desperately Seeking Susan and Who's that Girl. Truth or Dare is great too of course. Having said that, why not focus on what she does best..music. Doing a video on her movie career and not her music feels like a way to dis her to me. Maybe I'm wrong. But I do hope you'll do a video on her music and talent. If you already have done that, let me know
@GENXPERIENCE she said an iconic quote that she had her share of bad movies, but comedy was her best suit. The director of desperately seeking Susan, Said Madonna didn't audition, she got out of the cab asked for someone to pay the fare, I said we found her. She was Susan. I think who's that girl should have been The poisin Penns film. From my understanding Debra winger left the film cos of Madonna, that's how geena Davis the film. I'm surprised you didn't talk about that fact.
Who's That Girl, A League of Their Own, and Evita are in my all-time favorites 🩷 Edited: and VisionQuest! That was an awakening movie for this gen x gal 😉

It's Dick Tracy.
Desperately Seeking Susan is a classic.
You got that right!
She still can’t act.
So are Evita & Dick Tracy
@@sheilaholmes8455Let's see you act !
I didn’t realize how many movies she had done.

I was a massive Madonna fan as a kid/teen. Still to this day I occasionally watch Who's That Girl, Evita and Dick Tracy. I love those movies.
There are some good ones for sure. Like those 3!
I adore Who’s that girl
Crazy for you was actually a number 1 song
Yes, wasn't that great for her and her music!?
A League of Their Own is my top Madonna film and Evita is a close second. She never disappoints when it comes to news bites and sensationalism…girl knows how to get attention
Both of those top all of them for me too. She was cast right, and acted well. And yeah, she is still getting the attention, lol.

I LOVE IT. Just saw it last week, and then watched it agin. The end is just what you want. CLASSIC.
I think her best performance on screen is in the film "Dangerous game/ Snake eyes" by Abel Ferrara
Dangerous Game pulls a lot of drama that is right fit.
Thank you for this video on Madonna's Hollywood career. I had no idea she was in so many films.
The only ones i saw was League of Their Own and 007 Die Another Day. I thought she was okay in that and love her Bond theme song for the movie.

True that. Thanks for the song reminder. Some of those movies are pretty good.
Big Madonna fan. Thank you for the video. My best Madonna movies are:

Thank you for sharing. Those are all in my top 5, too.
Will never forget seeing DSS in the theater when I was a teen.
It sits in my memory banks pretty good too.
Swept Away!!! Her best movie! Don't judge me!
Promise. Glad you liked it.
Desperately seeking susan is one of my all-time favorite movies
It is a classic.
I've been a Madonna worshiper since I was 14 just a little gay boy dancing around my room in my underwear to open your heart 😅
Material girl is my all time favorite Madonna song
Madonna is an ICON. I sang my heart out to those songs in the 80s
Material Girl is not a movie. It's a music video.
@@kirkreid743 I know that 🙄
I meant to that is my favorite song
Geez 🙄

Wow! Now that is something to look into. Thank you
Hey she's been in some very good films in her time that's for sure. A great C.V. in my opinion. Very interesting topic. 👍🤘
Absolutely some very good films. I do mention my favorites. Others were a little miscast.
Good said .
And Ms Davis is such great actress ❤ and I have that movie on dvd.
She is! Glad you own that one
Who's that girl was also a number 1 song for the movie
Love that song, singing with it right now.
I've always been a huge fan of Madonna, but I was more of a fan of her music than her movies.
You and me both. Those classics are still classic to me...but there are a couple of great film titles of hers, too.

I hope you can do a video on Prince's how ever short movie career
That is short, lol.
She had number 1 hits for ALOTO
Her music was always more memorable.
I was "Like a Virgin" once. But only once.
you can never go back...then again, who's to know?
I love get into the groove ❤ and as I said others lol.
I remember how hard she fought to be in Evita.
And I think she did amazingly
@@GENXPERIENCE agreed 👍
1st comment ❤#DisneyDiva
I love her music especially you an Angel song and others ❤ .
Honestly i have never seen anyone of these movies with her but the baseball one n i know few of her songs lol
There's quite a few good ones. Try obe out
I love her in that baseball movie. There no crying in baseball. 😂
Love Tom ❤
You know i have a Madonna shirt i believe forever 21 or hot topic lol
Best performance is Dangerous game
She does awesome with the drama in that one.
I didn't know she played in girl 6 i heard of that movie but with all said i didn't watch it lol.
Lol. It wasn't huge role...but good for her
Who’s that Girl is awesome, so funny and off beat
Cute for sure. Love the song, the movie is okay, hate her choice for vocalization...but still good.
Look up her performance of Sooner or later from Dick Tracy at the 1991 Oscars she has broken up with Warren Baty and took Michael Jackson as her date.
One of my favorite songs. I got that soundtrack immediately, such a great album. I did look it up, I remember it now, and so glad you reminded me of the performance.
Crazy old woke woman....and I say that as a gen x'er....🔥🤣🔥
Crazy is just scratching the surface.
It's better to be woke than in a coma.
Acting may not be her thing but sing sure is lol. ❤
