I've been a hobbyist magician since about 2019. Just something to do to amaze co-workers and friends. I do one "show" per year, and that is at Christmas for my family. I've spent over $200 on new tricks for this year's show, but THIS is definitely going into the act, and it was FREE! Thanks so much for this "banger', and Merry Christmas to you!
google International brotherhood of magicians, Go to a meeting, prepare yourself to join. The folks are all about magic and helping each other learn. I joined in 2018 after going to vegas and seeing a card trick. When I got home I looked up magic clubs and luckily the IBM was one I found. good luck
MESMERIZING PERFORMANCE ! As you uttered, presumably a bit of routine practice will enable me to perform this stunning trick! Greetings from India. 🌹👏👌🏽🙏🏽🇮🇳
Very well demonstrated and explained. Also, very timely. A friend in magic had a stroke last year, tragically losing all of his decades-long memory of magic tricks. Now, in the recovery since, he is trying to start overagain. He pursued with some success, "The Healing of Magic" by Kevin and Cindy Spencer. However, it seems he prefers and succeeds best with just doing the learning all over again. This routine is an ideal fit. One never knows where the teaching one does will go. Thanks again for doing such a great job.
This is deeply touching, thank you so much for sharing this with me. I’m sure your friend will find so much from continuing his learning of magic. You’re right, I’m so surprised sometimes about the impact that my teaching has. And your message reaffirms exactly why I love to do it. Thank you so much
I’ve been following you for the last 2 weeks. I subscribed and now have been attempting to do the tricks you’ve been teaching. Always loved card tricks and always sucked at performing them. Being 60 doesn’t help. I’ve actually been able to accomplish 3 so far and do them proficiently. Thanks for your help. Definitely considering the tutorial for beginners
Awesome Jeff! Glad you’re having success and enjoying it, that’s the main thing. The course would give you a head start, it would be great to see you there!
I tried this trick. Practiced for 2 weeks. 3 hours a day. I had it down PERFECTLY. I showed this to my mom and she just looked up at me and told me that I'm a disappointment and to leave her basement.
This is a great little trick, but like you say it must be practiced until you can perform it correctly. It’s usually the trick I would show someone who has shown an interest and looking to do card magic themselves. A skilled card magician can really make this trick great.
That is a great trick. I do something similar, my version of a trick developed by Cameron Francis called Improbably v Impossible and then modified by Craig Petty. My version is sort of a combination of the two with my own additions.
Matt heres another version : 4 aces stacked on top of face down deck . Have spectator cut into 4 small packets . Of course the four aces are on top of the last pile now. Then , tell spectator hey , you could've cut anywhere, but you actually put the cards in the perfect spot for my mathematical Racer reveal ... Watch !! Pick up the first pile and state : The magic Racer formula is 3 down and three across. As you say this count 3 cards down to the table where the packet was before you picked it up, and then put one card on top of each of the other 3 piles . Now repeat with the second pile and re state the formula- " one , two , 3 down, - and 1, 2, 3, across. Now let the spectator try with the last two piles . Keep in mind, that after the 3rd pile is done , that 4th pile will have 3 indifferent cards on top of the 4 aces . Now the spectator counts 3 down to the table , ( the indifferent cards ) and the four aces end up one on top of each pile . The big reveal is left ... " you know , ive always called this the Racer trick , but maybe i should change it to the ACER REVEAL , - you cut the cards yourself and yet look what happened- turn over the aces from each pile . - its an easy trick but never fails to amaze the Layman 🎩
Just be clear with your instructions of making 3 roughly equal piles, if this happens just reassemble the deck, repeat the instructions and tell them that was a practice run! 😂
I tried this with my wife. She cut three piles and turned over a king, ten and the five. I ran out of cards on the king pile (only 11 cards present,). Not sure how to fix this since she/observer is the one cutting. Solutions?
Thanks so much Matt for sharing some really nice self-working card tricks with us! I thought I would share that I just discovered a channel that talks about the math behind a lot of self-working card tricks ( www.youtube.com/@MathCardMagic ). If you're not too afraid 😳of a little math, this is a pretty interesting channel.
I just did this card trick for a young man I support. It worked, and he was shocked and happy. He asked me to do it again, but instead I took the four aces, put what he thought were the two blacks in front of him, but when he turned them over, he saw they were red. He went to bed happy, and I was relieved they worked 😊

The best channel I have come across so far! You are a UA-cam Legend!!
Bless you man, hope you like the new changes to my editing!
@@MattMcGurk I have noticed the difference straight away, I love the angles too of the camera. Do you use any LUTS for presets for your lighting?
@@louisevans8838 I have a good base lighting state and then throw a custom LUT on which is just a little S Curve and some warming tones.
@@MattMcGurk Ah cool man, love the videos. Please upload more tricks!!
You have a gift for teaching brother.

Yes that’s an awesome trick! And gets great reactions too!
NICE. A visually amazing reveal. Just need to work out the picture card values…🤔
THANK YOU!
What’s the name of this trick please?
Good call! You could take them as 10 or actually spell the card E:g, JACK and it would still work.
It’s called Triple Prediction!
MERCI 🎉
An excellent variation on poker players picnic I absolutely love this! ♣️♥️♠️♦️😁
Thanks man! Yeah I agree, there’s something about the cards being random that makes it seem more impossible.
So glad you enjoyed it buddy!
Great trick 👍
Thanks 👍
I think I’m getting a little better, was able to duplicate it without watching the explanation. Great trick!
Awesome! Though I’d appreciate the watch time 😂
@@MattMcGurk I know that’s important so as soon as I finished I rewatched entire video, and I subbed. Cheers!

Easy trick
BET! Nevermind.
What happens if you cut to a queen or king or ten and you don't have enough cards in the pile to deal 10+2?
Just be clear with your instructions of making 3 roughly equal piles, if this happens just reassemble the deck, repeat the instructions and tell them that was a practice run! 😂
You could also choose to spell KING rather than deal out 10 cards 👍
What to do in case of the three drawn cards from the pile we have high suites like K,A,Q how do we count that
You could simply spell them instead. See previous comments for the details 👍
Hi Matt I ended up with a queen only had 8 cards left?
I’m not sure what you mean? Can you clarify and I’ll see if I can help?
So sorry Matt it was me 😂😂Great tricks mate 👍@@MattMcGurk
When you do the shuffle, altenate top, bottom, so when you do the last move it doesn't look different to the others
Nice idea!
I'm sure I'm messing something up. quick Q?: how many cards are on the deck and do I remove the Jokers? My deck has 4 of them.
4! Probably 2 jokers and 2 ad cards. Yes take them out and you’ll be fine!
What if they insist on doing the shuffle? Game over!
What if it's a face card, would it be 11,12,13? How would that work?
You could have a face card as 10 or simply spell the name of the cards e.g: K.I.N.G
What if the turned over cards are picture do you count 10?
You could count 10 or just spell the name of the card eg: K I N G
What happens if you turn over an A or another picture card rather than a number, how many cards would you peel off?
1 for an ace and 10 for picture cards. If it’s only a small packet you could also spell the name of the picture card such as K.i.N.G
What if you get a picture card ? Valued at 10 11 12 or 13 ?
I’d just use 10 for picture cards 👍
Works unless they want to do shuffle themselves : )
I tried this with my wife. She cut three piles and turned over a king, ten and the five. I ran out of cards on the king pile (only 11 cards present,). Not sure how to fix this since she/observer is the one cutting. Solutions?
Just spell king rather than counting 13 cards.
The problem is when audience want to do the first shuffle by themselves before begins. Damn
Great trick..I was counting your cards the first time, so that did not work..😄

Omg
When he said about the 6 hours I was about to leave
W trick but i tried to do it before i saw the explanation so i skrewed up so much.
Well at least you know where you went wrong. I’ve made the same mistake with flat-pack furniture
No one believes....first time I got the same 9 and 4 in random 😂😂😂
I thought you said this was an EASY card trick to perform...BS?!£#@
Yes, it is easy to perform! Just did for thr in-laws and thry loved it!! 😊
But card tricks are sooooo boring
👍👍🤙🤙🤙🤙👍👍👍
Wow.wonderful trick.thank you
