Listening to the album for the first time right now and I can't understand why it is said to be their worst album or why it gets only 2 stars on allmusic....?? This album is awesome
I think this was a perfect example of an album that was straight up not only underrated but didn't get the appreciation or attention it should've until way after the fact. I'm a huge SP fan and I can even remember when this album came out that I didn't think nearly as fond of it as I do now. Clearly up there with the earlier albums.
I remember being so excited when it was announced. The first SP album in seven years or something like that. I rushed out and bought it the day of release and it's so much heavier than I'd expected, I love it!
Well, they can really shred when they want to. That’s the thing about the Pumpkins. They seem to dangle that carrot in front of us while getting in touch with their ballads.
Jimmy for the win man. Too bad production was the issue for the hate. Its a loud and unrelenting album....that didnt sit well with people. For me, it was perfect.
This song is the best live song that the Smashing Pumpkins perform. When they played a 13 night residency show at the Fillmore in SF they performed it every night. I wuz there to see it every night. 🤘🤘💀🍻🔥
SLAMMING IT DOWN!! This album was trashed by critics, but why did the fans follow suit? I'm embarrassed for all the Pumpkins fans that FAILED the band on this Record.

After listening to this for over ten years, I finally hear some Jimi Hendrix-inspired licks through the guitar solos. William Corgan was too young to have heard Jimi Hendrix's national anthem live, but it definitely sounds like he heard it as a kid and got inspired.
"Right now's the past". I vividly remember listening to this on the bus to school in 2007 and thinking "Yeah, this is the present, but one day I'll remember this moment as the past", and here I am 17 years later remembering that seemingly inconsequential moment that was once the present as the past.
I saw this live in 2007, and he made it about 15 minutes long with the American national anthem on the end of the solo… it was the pinnacle of the alt-rock scene I’d grown up with. From Chronic Town to this.
This album is fantastic. It’s Classic Pumpkins up their with their greatest nineties work. Such a shame it’s not on streaming for new fans to discover.
One single was released in the UK off Adore the very day SP played Shephards Bush. When asked why Corgan said his fans would buy his stuff by the single anyway.... AYUHHHH FAWK YESSS😁⚡️🙌🏻😍♾
I honestly reckon he reads the BS on netphoria. It’s literally a Billy bashing forum. And he takes it seriously. That must be bad for his mental health. A forum dedicated to slamming him. Majority of normal fans loved this album.
@@jakehixon4073I don’t think this is the case. The album seems to be more appreciated over the years compared to when it first came out. Critics hated it and people seemed to bash it based on the fact it wasn’t the original line up and he still used the band name. While I think the majority of fans didn’t hate it as much as critics, the sentiment was that it was just decent. The story about taking it off streaming because people hated it might just be the story he tells to annoy people lol. There’s also the fact he apparently wasn’t happy with the production on the album or there may be stupid legal issues with having it on streaming.
I think corgan is afraid to glorify this era in the SP chapter cause of the current age we’re living in. Did he predict the future? Perhaps? Will it get worse? Most definitely.
@@all2blame163 the country was already ruined. It takes more than one bumbling old man to destroy an empire, it takes years of aggressive foreign policy and internal dissatisfaction, enjoy the ride.
History repeats itself. Our grandparents/great grandparents went through some very similar stuff. I'll bet theirs did as well. Different fashion, different methods of information delivery, but it's the same old story.
For real it’s impossible to find this online it seems and not on Spotify. Billy hates rock music so much now it’s sad. I think this album is killer. A 10 minute epic with cascading buildups and gut busting breakdowns? It’s a compositional masterpiece that doesn’t even compare to his shit new age synth pop he’s making now.
@@andrewtresler6765 The stuff Billy has been posting in the last 3 albums is so synth oriented that you can almost forget the group used to be a huge rock band back in the glorious 90's

wow!, really? nobody hears the peter cris/kiss homage? , drums , drum fills , from kiss alive II drum solo kiss army here but this smashing song still rocks ...
Listening since ‘91 and the best thing about Corgan is that he matures with you. Some people don’t get that. He pulled two albums because people criticized without understanding.
If not for the weird, off-time, oddly pitched, "OW!"... this would be an absolutely perfect song. Wonder who decided they should echo it so we'd have to hear it another 2 or 3 times, rather than cutting it.
This album is fantastic. It’s Classic Pumpkins up their with their greatest nineties work. Such a shame it’s not on streaming for new fans to discover.
A drumming masterclass from Mr Chamberlin.
That slow ending is probably the most killer ending of any pumpkins song.

Best drums EVER! Insanely underrated album and song

Top album. Not even on Spotify. Shame to the pop critics.
Yeah f*ck em, those pop critics at the time didn’t and still don’t know good music as good as this one.

this is one of those songs you come back to years later
I read once that Billy pulled this because fans were shitting on it so he said fuck it you can’t listen to it anymore. Baller move.

Best way to revive a supposed retired band. Yet I saw their second to last show before so I can say things like this. Pumpkins forever!!!!!!🫀
This album kicks ass !!!! Period.
Such an amazing tune. A headbanging anthem.
The last true pumpkins album.
Yeah I don't know what the hell some of those recent albums were, hopefully the next one is good.
Oceania is really really good but yeah I agree this is the last album of ‘Classic Pumpkins’.
Yes sir your exactly right hard pumpkin riffs. This jam slams.

Corgan had it pulled. People kept saying it sucked he takes criticism seriously. So he pulled it. As well as Adore
Some people don't understand great music.

Massive band bigger than we realise 🎸
This track would be a good theme to a hurricane coming in.
Very Sabbath sounding, think children of the grave.
Tool as well. Drumming style if very Danny Carey.

better than any of the 50 crap songs on their latest double album
I awesomely found the double disc edition of this CD in a dollar tree !!!!!
Agreed 👍
I like guitar over synths (nothing wrong with them, DEAD WEATHER use it the way i like it, especially live)
That latest one they did was the worst trash I ever heard

Excellent part of the song.
Yeah I think it was an excellent creative decision
Fun fact: The drums for this song were recorded in one live take.
This absolutely destroys any of the utter garage on their latest double album. Not one song on that comes close to any on Zeitgeist.
BC / JC forever
This album has the perfect Pumpkins and alternative rock sound. I think this is Billy's peak which is really saying something.
Sabbath influence
Crazy tom fills

This almost sounds like a tool song
What Tool are you listening to?
This song has more groove than all tool songs combined

Jimmy is obviously influenced by Tool. Sounds Carey esque with the tribal drumming.
Lol Chamberlain is older than Carey
👀
Way too poltized for music industry
This song is not a good song. You can write and record this in a day. Billy is creatively bankrupt. To put his name on this is sad.
