His story is insane. Imagine being a low name actor, mostly playing in theater, playing small roles in few movies and then get a role in a popular tv show to end up making that character absolutely ICONIC. Not only that but get a viral scene that people replay over and over again because of how mind blowing it is. Dude just hit a jackpot. It's probably overwhelming but damn he deserves the love. Seems like a chill, nice dude and I wish him a good career.

Exposure. American media is highly accessible in Europe so of course ppl in the UK grew up consuming American media and thus their accents, which are easier for us to imitate and master due to that repeated accessibility. Whereas British media is not consumed on the same level and is less familiar to Americans. Not to mention british pronunciations & phonetics are harder for Americans to imitate properly, i.e R’s and A’s.

The Television Academy overlooked Joseph Quinn & stupidly didn't nominated him for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series of 2022. They better damn well not only nominate him but award him with the Emmy next year, he did a fantastic job as the loveable Eddie Munson, most definitely a scene stealer of every scene he was in from start to end ❤
If you ever read this just know you killed it in the first part Joseph, Eddie's one of my favorite characters from the show! I'm dying to see the scene where your rocking on your trailer in the upside down, it's going to be sick!

You would have not guessed. In the show he's got an American accent
To me Joseph is leaps and bounds above the rest of the cast in terms of acting skills. The rest portray a version of themselves in retro clothes (no blame as some of them are barely kids) but Joseph is literally unrecognizable not only from his civil life but also other roles - he had an impressive and wide spanning (speaking from big name historical drama to temporary indie) career in UK theatre and TV movies. Jamie is close but more of a performer than purely an actor as Joseph and so has other areas of focus. Kudos to the Duffer brothers for recognizing and elevating this talent to the global level, I think we have an upcoming superstar right in front of our eyes. Also super reassuring how this is picked up so instinctively by the audience - talent is talent and people see it and fall in love with it without anyone having to tell them to do so. Does not hurt that he is such a nice person but ultimately his job is to enthrall people with the role and he does that better than anyone else new to the scene recently. Great to remind us what the divine skill of acting skill is about as it is rare to see these days, thank you Joseph!
Dacre Montgomery also plays a extremely different charcter from himself. He doesn't smoke drink, and is into like interior design and is a very chill person. Not at all like Billy
@@froqqy68 Good point, though to me they are the polar opposites of a 'pretty boy' and an underdog archetype that would resonate with different types of people. I also think that Joseph got the benefit of great writing in this series which he acknowledges himself (i.e. that his character was very well written so he had a lot to work with). So apologies if I missed some nuance in my comment that seems unjust to some other good quality characters and actors. Overall if ST serves as a springboard to lift talented young actors I think it is a good thing.
And I do not know Dacre's acting career, just what caught my eye was how mind blowingly different were the roles that Joseph played so far and when you look at the person in the interviews and real life meetings you just think, how is this even possible for this guy to embody all of this. Lots of talent and persistence and hard work, would love to see that rewarded (and for others like him).

It was inevitable, think about it, he was wanted for murder, the police were never going to accept it was done by some sort of demon from another dimension and drop charges, so sadly this was his only way out.

The audience's relatively weak reaction to him makes more sense when you remember that none of them had seen the season yet. If they had, they all would have lost their shit when he was on the stage. Little did many of them know he'd become their favorite.
