well they would know wouldn't they given that they're brought up to date with the language and important info about the current world. and I'm pretty sure they're all aware of how things progressed after their time though since it has been a bit I could be wrong :p
I'd say Constantine's colours match up alright. The way we view and describe colours has varied across time and cultures, which you can see in the etymology of some colour terms across languages. Roux, russet and rose are cognates that describe red, orange/brown and pink. Some languages don't distinguish between blue and green or do it differently than in english. Pourpre comes from the latin purpura same as purple but is more of a purplish red. You can see the same thing with grapes, where the purple ones give you juice with a similar red/purple. There were multiple species of murex snails being used for pigment, which didn't produce quite the same colour. The museum recreations of the dyes show that in addition to the classic purple, one was more reddish purple and another was basically red. The overall impression I've gotten is that Tyrian purple was actually a group of purples made in Tyre and that those purples included shades we'd consider more red than purple. None should be any more or less authentic, since narrowing the term down to just one would overlook the original context of the term. It's a bit like people assuming any historical reference to light/gold hair automatically means light blond even when it's more likely to have been light brown. Using a less conventional Tyrian purple for Constantine was a good choice. Experimenting with different shades allows exploration of the different purples that likely held that name while also giving some variety to designs. Everyone wearing the exact same purple would get repetitive.
The fall of the byzantine empire and the ottoman empire history is a part of history that was drilled into my head by my history teacher in middle school But despite the struggle in school it was the part I enjoyed the most since my family visits turkiye every year so seeing the historical sites in person made it even more special I'm still waiting for fate to add Mehmet II one day

Tyrian Purple, specifically the dye extracted from the snails which is ludicrously expensive to produce, is the reason why purple is considered a royal color since only emperors could afford it but it's more like a shade of maroon than it is the typical modern understanding of purple which is definitely more on the blue side of the spectrum.
