I remember going to many games back then in the old Orange Bowl, it wasn't like today's stadiums and had many issues but it had character and was a loud place to play. Great memories and Rip David Woodley you left us way too soon 🙏🏈

I remember that 35-14 win over the Rams as the first game I really paid attention to. I was eight, and until that point football was kind of an abstract idea for me. Since that one, though, I've lived and died aqua and orange.

'81-'85 were good years. "woodstrock" carried us until Danny boy arrived (1983). 86-89 were frustrating. Then we're rediscovered ourselves (1990-1994) Dan's other great years.

The Dolphins always beat NFC teams back then. The 1980 Dolphins were 8-8 but 4-0 vs the NFC. The 35-14 win vs Rams in LA
was at the time one of the biggest upsets ever.

One of the biggest upsets ever at that time??? There were a handful of games that season that were bigger upsets than that. Jets over Falcons, Giants over Cowboys, Cardinals over Eagles

This franchise sure had some great seasons. Little did we know that it all would grind to a halt by the mid-1980s.

After 1985 loss to patriots in OB the Miami magic was over , they lost Bill Arnsparger in 1983 and spent next 10 years trying to replace him .

There was nothing made of Woodley becoming the first player to run, throw and catch a rd in a game vs the rams

Don’t know why but I always liked David Woodley. Perhaps because I just like those early 80’s teams and the Woodstrock era.

Woodley never fulfilled his Potential in Miami , he ran out of time with the drafting of Marino, he did some good things but he was always looking over his shoulder with Strock .

Woodstrock was the closest that an NFL team ever got to using an MLB type relief pitcher in managing quarterback play. I just have a special place in my heart for those early 80’s teams before the Marino era began.

@@stew6662 Don Strock should have taken the reigns after Griese, but he threw too much for Shula's liking. This made the transition to Marino much easier for the run-oriented super bowl coach

In the win over the Patriots at the Orange Bowl in Miami, the breaking news came on the announcement of the tragic death of John Lennon of the Beatles. The last game of the 1980 season was played against the Jets--without TV announcers!

The Dolphins had the Bills number in the 70s beating them 20 straight times in fact from 1970-1986 the Dolphins won 30 of of 33 over the Bills in 17 years including a stretch where the Dolphins beat the Bills 16 straight times at the Orange Bowl between 1967-1982.

Buffalo returned the favor going 17-4 in the next twenty-one games against Miami, including 3-0 in the postseason
