I spend a lot of time watching RV videos on UA-cam hoping to see something new and useful. I am usually bored and disappointed. Not this time. The black tank burp tip makes a lot of sense, and got me attention. Two thumbs up. :)
My sensors don't work and we had company for a few days so I thought it was time for my tank to get flushed. The funny thing is it was doing that burb that I had never saw before and it does give off a smell. So I decided to flush it to see if that helped. I am glad I did now. Now I know what to look for. Thanks for the tips.
We have sensors/light thing but it doesn’t say black tank. It has fresh-battery-grey 1-grey 2… something like that. Do some fifth wheels not have a thing to show black tank level? We’ve never used the toilet - we use one in the shop, but whoever we purchased our rv from must not have emptied it prior to selling. We started noticing a strong odor today. Any tips? Also, the Norcold fridge/freezer does not work and neither does the heater unfortunately.
We have several camping locations where we will sit in place for 14 to 21 days. Should we leave gray tank valve open all the time? Would it be ok to close it the day before the black tank dump in order to help flush the hose? I’m a rookie in this area of full time RV life. Thanks
It is perfectly OK to leave your GREY tank valve open if you are stationary. I will usually close mine a day or 2 before dumping the black tank as you suggested to use the water to wash out the hose. Just do NOT leave the black tank valve open. That is bad...
I've done the Colgan & Dawn, ice cubes, Liquid Plumber, 1/2 tank of hot water and Dawn and a few others All individually. Apply before we left home and then traveled a few hundred miles. Some worked for a few days but none for more than 1 tank full. We usually go by number of days out. To be safe we 1 week, but have gone 2 weeks, sweating bullets. I'm sure we could go longer but not willing to chance it. I'll pay close attention to the "Black Tank Burp" though the next time we're out. THANK YOU!

You may have to experiment with the buttons to find out what controls what. If you have a smell, you need to empty that tank and flush it
