    In some ways, it sounds like uni is similar to Buds for Navy Seals. At first, when I heard you talking about the all-nighters I thought "How can they expect such dedication and risk to a student's health when they're not even paid yet". After watching the rest of the video, I can see that it actually prepares you for the real world and can say huge respects to you man.

    Hey David, thanks for your video. I am a freelance developer and I have been wanting to switch careers into architecture for 1,5 years now. However, I am 34 years old. I wondered if you could share your thoughts on choosing architecture later in life as a career. Either way, this video was very well done and thanks for sharing. Regards from Germany

      Hey! My honest opinion is do whatever you love regardless of age! Architecture is a funny profession, the older you are the more respected you are, regardless of experience. I think what you'll find it people will most likely trust you over a grad for the simple fact it appears like you should know more. Use that to your advantage and best of luck!

      Hi! I'm 29 and think about changing my career too, I used to be a developer too. Ive been thinking about becoming a student once more, but it's another 3 years at least.. that's a lot.. I think about maybe finding a job related to this field for a time being? Computer Rendering Operator s an option. Honestly i would appreciate any recommendations and look forward to hearing your opinion.
      Regards From the Netherlands, by the way!

    David I’m really interested in historical architecture. Particularly the restoration of monuments and other historically important structures. Is that a career path I can follow? If so do you have any insight into it?

      yes it is a career parth. specific one with few jobs, but if you get a job in that exact one you will be living your dream. find some locals in your area that do it, reach out and keep trying to work with them until you finally get the job you want :)

    I want to become an architect and I am 13 years old. I have been watching a lot of videos and researching to make sure it's the job that I want to do until my retirement year. I also live in Aus although I am in qld. How many years did it take you to get to the point of being a professional architect?

    • @DavidTomic
      @DavidTomic  2 роки тому +1

      Australia is very much the same regardless of state. 3yrs undergrad. 2yrs masters degree. Min 3300hrs (2yrs full time) working, exam and formal interview. Average is 7-10yrs from start of first degree.

    Hey David, i'm 29 and I've been working in sales for 5 years, I did a diploma in drafting building design but never applied for any jobs ages ago and I'm thinking of doing my bachelors + masters in uni for architecture to become an architect. Im undecided to do Digital Marketing or pursue being an Architect, would you say being an architect is fulfilling and something you 're happy to do for the rest of your life?

    • @DavidTomic

      Hey mate, being an architect is both rewarding and challenging. It is not a career for those that aren’t will to work really hard. The degree itself is exhausting and sleepless nights are a norm. However, the career itself if amazing. It is something I will most likely continue for the rest of my life, or at least in some form. Being a “desk” job mainly you can continue to practice well into your 80s and be even better than before. Do whatever you are most passionate about and you will find joy at the end of it.

    Hello David I am 22 with a Bachelor's Degree in Pre-med Biology but I have always wanted to do architecture and it may be in my cards to finally do it. Do you have any advice for me on where to start?

    • @DavidTomic
      @DavidTomic  2 роки тому +4

      Hey mate! Glad to hear you have a passion for architecture, it is a rewarding career. I would suggest that you become intimately familiar with what architects do all day, what their career pathways and opportunities look like and understand salaries in your area. Like most fields architecture is a relatively repetitive one unless you are exceptional. Architecture should be done for the love of it, not the money, not the glamour or fame that can come with it. If you are content with the everyday practice then I suggest you go full steam ahead and aim for the amazing opportunity that came with hard work. Any career is the same, be happy with what the everyday looks like and not the every other day. Basic advice but if you don't love the boring work you'll hate it in 20 yrs time and architecture is something you practice for life :)

    Hey there, I'm a new subscriber to your channel, awesome videos, I am from the Caribbean an I really want to be an architect, but unfortunately there is only one school of architecture (accredited by the Commonwealth (CAA))in the entire Caribbean at Jamaica and i'm from Trinidad, so I'll just do civil engineering and later in my career i might go for the arch. degrees and get registered as an architect some day. Looking out for some more interesting videos. thanks
