The PS5 Pro is said to be as powerful as the 6800 XT and the games are getting more demanding every year too, At that time even a 4080 would barely be enough for 4K 60. And don't expect the performance of a 5080 in a $500 console

Saying that the PS5 pro will be more powerful than the PS5 and XSX combined sound alot like saying that the PS5 pro will be twice as powerful as the originally PS5. PS5 came out in Nov 2020, about three and a half years ago. That's plenty of time for moors law to make that feasible at 2024. I'm not saying we need a PS5 Pro, but if Sony really wanted to it can make it happen at a reasonable price if it wanted to
Imagine having a system this powerful but you still have no multitasking features, no multi monitor/tv support and no backwards compatibility.
Feels good to own a PC. Higher initial cost, but the time I've enjoyed on it has FAR outweighed its price

I don't know anybody with a PS5 who says "I wish this console was more powerful." I feel like Sony should focus on their game development pipeline and leave the hardware R&D to the PS6 in a few years.
For those few of us with a PSVR2 we want to get rid of the re-projected 120 Frames mode a lot of games need to use. It’ll just take a bit more power. PS4 Pro was a nice boost for the first PSVR too in a similar way. But yeah on flat I’m totally happy with the power of base PS5.

But I agree that part of the justification for PS4 Pro (aside from 4K/HDR) was more power to support PSVR. On a side note, considering that PSVR2 is such an expensive peripheral, it would be nice if Sony would better communicate what the roadmap is for supporting it.
@@jds4k sadly the only news lately was word from PlayStation about VR2 was some sort of PC game access, no word of updating so 3D Blu Rays work in 3D and still no sign of new first party games.
Ff16 runs at 720p. I really want a console to play at decent resolution and framerate together.

That PS3 slim that looks like crap still runs like a champion today , and it doesn't cost $80 to play online .
He took a shot at the super slim but that console was the most reliable compared to the ps3 phat version.

I never bought a PS5 because of the shortages, and wasn't willing to shill out $500 in one go.
By the time PS5s were becoming widely available (which was sometime last year) the rumors of a PS5 Pro were already circulating and decided to wait instead, mostly to play my PS4 games at higher frame rates without stuttering.

At this point I just don't care much about powerful consoles. Where are the games? There's so little of interest like what's the point of gaming. I don't even have a PS5 yet. First due to the scalpers and now that the stores have them in stock I don't want one. I played the big games that were on PS4 as well and had a good time too so I see no reason for upgrading.

I bought a PS4 PRO because I had just gotten a 4K TV so I wanted better picture quality and I'm still playing it, only reason I'd even want a PS5 at all would be to play the new Final Fantasy games!

As a former PS, Nin, Xbox console supremacist, you should just go PC at this point. Consoles offer no benefit or pros over a PC. You can get a good gaming PC for same price as a PS5, and play anything you want. Plus you don’t need to pay for the “online” part for gaming online with others.

Not everybody has time to waste learning how to tinker with a pc, that's why we hire nerds that can only think to do that kind of stuff. Harware updates, software updates, gotta adjust this and that. Unless you like doing bull like that and have the patience (which many don't) or have the money to pay for someone to mess with that bull, the PC will always be more trouble than it's worth. People just want the fastest way to play and do what they need to do, and that's a plug n play system. Not everybody has the "know how" to be messing with a PC to make sure it's always running the way it should be. Just admit, PC is trying to up the market but not realizing it's failing due to it being too complicated. I myself know about PC more than the average person, and the ones who know more than me (real IT wiz) even get frustrated and tired of dealing with computers because that's their day job-- helping bozos with basic PC needs. It gets to a point where you don't want to figure out a thing anymore... installing drivers for this, figuring out and paying expenses for hardware upgrades for that. Who has time for that mess unless that's your actual profession? And they had the nerve to charge an absurd amount of money for the latest PC processor lol like it was gonna take off. Even the nerds got upset when it's overvalued yet underwhelming. Give me a break and stop crying about this PC bull unless it becomes less of a pain to deal with. Goddamn what is going on with Rich? Couple years ago he seemed far more stable, avoided drama, was even giving level headed advice to other creators like Boogie, he was also dropping weight like crazy. Im 2 weeks he's flip flopped on the channels direction ( again ) fired his editor who really stepped up to help in the last year and even that sounds scummy how it went down, I get his daughter was ill but damn man you need to get back on the horse.

Sporadic updates for existing games would be interesting, but they'd have to be extensive in order for me to consider shelling out the $$ to upgrade the PS5 Pro. And how many developers will make the investment in PS5 Pro-only games?

I have to ask you a question, I got that Lenovo gaming laptop etc 4050, it’s really fast and everything. But why when I download a Game Pass game on the laptop, does not download any faster than maybe 10 Mb per second, and I have 200 Mb per second speed. It’s ridiculous. And I do have an ethernet hooked up. Isn’t there a setting or something to make games download faster on the gaming laptop when downloading Xbox games with an ethernet? It should be downloading at least 100 Mb per second, not only 10 Mb per second.

Its about on par with a 4070...we alredy had the devkits since november... its about the samd jump from ps4 to PS4 Pro... it would basically allow you to have both quality and perdormance on all gamea but will not allow 4k 120fps on modern games only on remasters and stuff

Ps4 pro came out 3 years into the life of the ps4. PS5 Pro is coming out between year 4 and year 5. I'm not mad about it. I'm going to trade my 4 year PS5 for the pro get a new warranty controller etc.

I get that COVID kinda put a wrench in a lot of things but the PS4 Pro came out 3 years after the the PS4. This is nothing new. This is why I say everything will just be a launcher in the future.

As someone who is maybe finally upgrading to a 9th generation console at some point around my 50th birthday this coming fall, I'm still leaning towards the basic XBox Series X and that will be largely to play 8th generation games initially (because I have a PS4 but not an XBox One and there are plenty of XBox One games that I still want to play).
Even if I decide to buy a PS5 instead, it'll just be the base PS5 unless the PS5 Pro doesn't cost significantly more. Perhaps the PS5 Pro version of GTA VI will be the definitive way to play it, but, realistically, it'll probably ave only minor graphical upgrades over the base PS5 that'll only be all that visible on a 4K OLED screen, which is moot to me because I still play games on a 19" 720p LCD screen.
Base 8th-gen consoles were *WEAK AF!* There was an actual need for a refresh & upgrade.
Rich should just buy another DK Oldies console and review it.

I think it’s stupid that they do that they need to just focus on the next generation instead of a Midòn refresh this time both companies need to do that but if they do do this, it’s gonna kind of be bad for PlayStation because Xbox is planning on releasing their next console around that same time that PlayStation is releasing their mid refresh, and it’s supposed to be even more powerful than the PlayStation pro I guess if they do this then when the PlayStation six comes out, it’ll be more powerful than the Xbox and it’ll keep going back-and-forth but that won’t help the gaming industry at all because if one consul is way, powerful, and one consul is not it makes development for games really hard and that’s the problem

At this rate, I probably won’t upgrade until the PS6 Pro. Let’s face it, I should’ve kept my PS4 Pro and bought the PS5 Pro with all the cross-gen we have had. Will hopefully, maybe, have a decent backlog of PS6 games by then as well.
The ps6 should be able to run every UE5 game at 4k60fps but when the next gen UE6 comes out it will most likely struggle to run those games at 4k and the same cycle is gonna repeat and we'll need a ps6 pro

I love my PS3 Super Slim. It isn't loud, no mechanical drive failure, its actually SLIM. Just pop the disc in and thats it.
