Yes!!!!!!!!! I have a copy of Capital vol 1 and have wanted to read for so long. But being a single mother who works full time and already swamped with union work and DSA stuff, I am exhausted and rarely have time to sit and read anymore. Thank you so much for doing this. I wouldn't have been able to get as far in understanding theory as I have without this.
Wow! Thank you for that you sound inspirational! I'm single no kids I work 35-45 hours a week I've been trying to get more overtime, I've joined a workers union, I've join a political party, I'm studying at a Tafe online, I've tried to join multiple ml theory study groups, I've joined a renters and housing union (RAHU) , and more all of that - but the job - started within the last few months and I'm already getting burnt out
Here it is, the big one. My plan is to read my copy alongside your audio and take notes. Im already a hundred or so pages into mine, but I haven't actually read it in years, so im ready to give it another real go
58:15 - i LOVE this part LOL it’s such a funny story, whose ultimate lesson is ‘don’t doubt marx’s citations, you’ll make a fool of yourself’ (1:08:17)
This audio has came out perfectly for me as I'm just starting Capital Vol 1, I just read the introduction by Ernest Mandel and saw you just released the prefaces. Thank you
I’m wondering how long it will actually take to complete this work. Between all the other stuff you’re doing this could take all the way through 2025 depending on your schedule.
it's good as a starting point to go for an abridged version but often the abridgements cut out very important parts because their importance is only properly understood when you look at capital as a dialectical presentation (i can expand on this if you'd like). so it'd be good to eventually read the full version at some point.
As usual, I'm late once again. Thank you for taking on this monster but important book. I was interested in the accusation that Marx lied. Reminds me of someone in the past who tried in vain to convince everyone on the now defunct De Leonist discussion board that Arnold Peterson lied. It had something to do with Petersen agreeing with Lenin about a dictatorship over the peasantry. We all know Lenin never wrote that. Lenin wrote that the dictatorship of the proletariat included the peasantry. None of us at that time ever found that lie in the quotation he used. The person who made the accusation went on to write an E book which was nothing more than word salad. Of course, this fellow also believed that technological advances in production would result in socialism without a workers revolution. Yeah, he was or still is a revisionist. I don't know if he is still around.
"It had something to do with Petersen agreeing with Lenin about a dictatorship over the peasantry." Yes, it sounds like that person either misunderstood or deliberately distorted this information, though to be fair it does get a bit weedy. I was actually thinking of doing a playlist on this topic, including readings like this one: www.marxists.org/reference/archive/stalin/works/1927/03/15.htm
Excellent … the one the only. The BIG one. And is that maybe … 🎼 ua-cam.com/video/GK2GUxOnjDQ/v-deo.html 🎶 the Red Army Choir singing away gently … somewhere in the background of my 1970s mind? Mmm. Nice. One day it will all be done and it will be done correctly. Thanks for the superb reading S4A … as usual. On a side note … the new 2024 Reitter English translation of Volume I of “Capital” is quite good so far that I’ve read into it. Having a hardcover copy of Volume I that’s not decades old and all beaten up, or an amateur-bound laser printing is kind of nice too. Don’t know if they’re planning on translating Volumes 2 and 3. Anyone know?
@SocialismForAll Thank you for reading Capital. Are you familiar with the DSA Marxist Unity Group reading curriculum? It's on their website, and it's 51 texts long. I was reading their opening statement to the curriculum and I was wondering what you think of a Marxist-Leninist working within a group that proposes that Bolshevism wasn't inevitable and that there is a parliamentary road to socialism. I'd post the link but my comments disappear, just search for Marxist unity cadre curriculum. Personally I don't think we need to lie to the working class just to have a legal party, and I think part of that is because of the support for the democrats. I don't know how we square this circle, but I would really like to organize with the DSA.
I've seen their reading list before, and I think it's odd. I've considered doing it on the channel but have preferred to stick with more of the classics of Marxism-Leninism rather than going way out of my way to delve into their more niche interpretation of Marxism. As for working within DSA, I think it can be useful at this stage for people to gain experience in the struggle and to get the overall intensity of the class struggle up. I do not expect that it will be the final vehicle for the workers and that significant organizational shifts will occur between now and revolution.
I like the DSA Communist Caucus's reading list better than the Marxist Unity Caucus's reading list although again it's not a basis for a comprehensive education in Marxism, let alone Marxism-Leninism: communistcaucus.com/reading-list/
Is this like just like a interdiction plus some notes on the translates and some notes on how Marxs was doing during the time before like heavy theory starts? PS I read like 100 pages of Das Kapital when I was in high school but I haven't gotten it to re-reading/read it. All I remember is that marx talks a lot about the worth of a coat, leather and gold over mutuple pages.
@@SocialismForAll some of it is intersting but I think I skip this part when I read book before. nothing wrong with it and I am thankfull for you're posting this. I hope you will have all the books done by late next year or the year after that.
Refuse all bourgeois wars! Land back free Palestine, workers stand with the oppressed peoples of the world, unite! !Bienvenidos camarada trabajadores del mundo!
My denoiser was acting up, so there are a few glitches and artifacts in here. Most of it sounds good though.
Great work!
Big respect to you, Comrade S4A!
the mad man is finally doing it 🥲
Yeah, he is a glutton for punishment. Must be his k*nk. 😂

Engels is always so fun. You are doing yeoman's work, and now, a tutorial reading of _Capital_ -- it's going to be an invaluable resource.
Im excited to understand more of it.
