I'VE GOT A EARLY 1960's D-35 I BROUGHT NEW , STILL LOOKS LIKE NEW & RINGS LIKE A BELL ,🎸 I'M 71 GOT ARTHRITIS IN HANDS & FINGERS, LIKE TO SEE IT GO TO A GOOD HOME & SOMEONE LOVE IT AS I HAVE 🎸❣️
Funny, I find it to be very middy. Very little warmth. Tinny almost. Could use a set of 13's to bring out the lower frequencies...say 60 - 125hz. You would expect more out of what is probably a $4500 guitar. At least I would.
With 70's D35s I think Johnny Cash. His early 70's all black D35 was first of it's kind. Lore states that Martin didn't even know his luthiers built it until he saw it on the "Swan Song" Episode of Columbo from '73. Cash was a huge fan of the D35 model.
Oh, God, yes. This isn't the only time that playing persisted with a noticeably out-of-tune instrument. I am still amazed at how often guitar players cannot tune an instrument to itself. Tuning each string to the tuner does not mean the guitar will be in tune with itself.
This is the year D-35 that I almost bought ; until the brakes went out on my. ‘68 Chevelle ! I always regret not getting one ; but ; life got in the way ! 😢 I did finally get a gorgeous GPC-16E in a Sunburst finish ; so I guess I did O.K. ! 😂
He did ,it was in his beginning days ,if I'm not mistaken , I saw it on a rerun television show ,late at night ,and in the show they were in the service ,and after a song ,where he let another service member play the guitar while he sang ,and after wards they wound up being in bar brawl with guys that started the the fight ,which they won ,and he gifted the guitar to him for helping him in the fight ,and said keep playing ,so the stories goes ,but it was a Martin ,that looked much like that !
Beautiful. I really think on Guitar of the Day it would be fun if the first song played should always be from the year the guitar was made. Just sayin'...
Nice Indian rosewood on the back warm patena on the top Broad powerful dreadnought sound nice chordal sus work from Angela. The nineties was a musical whirl 4 me. Angela's got the idea. I have aged worse than the guitar. Sound of my origin youth. Aged like a nice wine. A good buy. Thank u norms.the Ca t.
Yes, it is a beautiful guitar and sounds great. But the main (or only) distinguishing feature of the D-35 over the D-28, from what I know about it, is the three-piece back - and that came about because Rosewood is becoming harder to find in large enough pieces. (I don’t have a D-35, but have a D28 Brazilian 1969 and a 000-28 East Indian. Plus a 1969 D-12-20 Mahogany.) To me, the higher numbered D-35 implies a superior level of quality over D-28 than I’m not sure actually exists. Both are fantastic guitars; just a quibble with the numbering. So does the 35 have a major benefit over the 28, or just personal preference?
D-28s and D-35s are uniquely different but also can be fairly similar. They can have different bracing, as you mentioned the D-35 has a three piece back, and the 35 will also have more binding. Historically, the higher numbered series mean ‘more aesthetically appealing/more ornamentation.’ I’m with you on questioning whether a 35 is better than a 28, but I think Martin’s rationale for it is simply ‘more detail work,’ sort of like how it’s arguable whether an 18 or 28 is better but it’s objectively true that a 28 has more ornate inlay than an 18.
I had D35.1976..3 piece back....STARBURST finish...I am sick, I sold it--- sold it for what I paid originally...less than 700 dollars...stupid emergency ...sick about it
Nice Martin but I don’t prefer the look of the back. I like it more traditional so I would prefer a D28 to the D35. Angela is a joy to look at, however, please make sure the tuning is right. This sounds awful with some strings way out of tune 😢
Always a treat to watch and hear Angela Petrilli showcase a guitar, well done.
ALWAYS a joy to see and hear Angela demo a vintage Martin at Norm's, mmm.
Such a treat to watch
Thanks for the STP sounded great Thank you again Angela and Jen👍👍👍🤙
That is my old Guitar. You should buy it. It’s a great guitar!
That has such a full sound to it.nice ring
What a beauty! Lows, highs and mids all in perfect balance, and great dynamics as well. ❤

NORM'S WILL BUY IT. MAYBE PUT IT ON THE SHOW, TOO.
I’ll buy it off you Charlie.
I wish I could buy this guitar and give it to my grandpa as a birthday present! I'm sure he would love this
теперь мне захотелось быть твоим дедушкой!🤣🤣🤣
I love Angela.
Very nicely balanced tones

Jenn is amazing.
Angela and a Martin for flattop Friday. It doesn’t get any better
La amó 🎉🎉🎉!!! Simplemente adorable!!! Tanto la guitarra como ella.❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Tune it.

Make my Day angela play that D35 !!! !!!!! !!!
Beautiful! Nice guitar too.
outstanding guitar - lovely woman
Hello, thanks for the demo.
I love flat top Friday, especially when Angela plays .
An ol’ friend of mine had that same year and model. I named my Martin Genesis in tribute to that first one. Great guitar
Gorgeous Angela!
You have my dream job. The smiles say it all.
I’ve got a ‘76 D-35 as well, but mine has an Ambertone finish. Mine still has the original micarta nut and saddle.

"Oooooooh" in my
best 'Jen' accent.
96% sure Elvis had one as well. Gorgeous guitar.
We know for sure he had a J-200. Maybe a D-35 too. Not sure.

THANK YOU for stating the nut width!!! 😎👍
title of the second song please….
I have an 86 D35 would love to have a HD 35 too
aNYone know what the second song was?
Lady’s Samsonite flight case. Austere compared to the 45 but projects like one. A reprise from a recent Angela riff rundown.
I have one ☝️ 1979 bought for $600 got lucky 🍀
What # is it ? There was only 1976 of those made!
You’re thinking of the D-76 that looked like a D-35 but was a little fancier.
Mine has the Offical Martin cracks $300 to repair 🧑🔧 Jim Croce played a d35
Mine was a Shade Top 1975
That blue case is $400+ 😍
If it’s truly a 1976 model, there’s a good chance that it’s Brazilian Rosewood.
Nope….just Indian.
@@jayarbee3804would just the center strip be braz?
I suppose it’s possible, tho I’d think they’d promote it if so.
Most definitely a good chance it’s NOT Brazilian, Martin stopped using Brazilian in standard production guitars in 1969.
I wish the one you would have played would have been the one where it was in tune

You are right, Elvis played it.
😎👍
I’d give you a ❤if I could. Love me Martin’s & you !
I seem to recognize your face Angela, haunting familiar yet, I can’t seem to place it!
😎😎♥♥😎😎

I believe that the D-35 has a bit more binding on the body than the D-28 ; IIRC ? 😅

👍✌❤😎🎄
Stone temple pilots. Cool!!!
Woah....sounds a little out of tune.
Yes something is off..
Yes Elvis had a D35
Thank God. She is very good. Replace Lemmo !!!!!!!
If Elvis had a '76, he didn't have it for very long.
he supposedly gave it away to an audience member.
What is wrong with that guitar?
First
A little out of tune. I have a 1988 D35. It stays in tune for long periods of time. Has great sound.
Agree. B string was flat. Good ear.
Whoa something doesn’t sound right there Angela, out of tune me thinks 😮🇬🇧
Angela great playing but please “Tune” the thing, the guitar gets louder, richer and overtones bloom into the heavenly spheres.
Yikes, out of tune!
Way out
Please, tune it before u play.
Emote
It’s disrespectful to play a guitar of that age and make when it’s out of tune.
please tune the guitar
It's either out of tune or has some intonation issues...have the luthier check it again.
that’s the worst sounding d35 i ever heard
Way out of tune 😕 Great guitar though, my grandpa has the exact model 😌👌
Almost sounds like a 12-string.
It sounds nothing like a Martin
Sorry not a fan of 3 piece backs!
Nice Martin but I don’t prefer the look of the back. I like it more traditional so I would prefer a D28 to the D35. Angela is a joy to look at, however, please make sure the tuning is right. This sounds awful with some strings way out of tune 😢
I don’t like “The Martin Sound”. You can have my Martin!
How much for your D35 if u Don't liķe it ?
