Interesting Idea Cory has about the God of Ideas..But hes wrong..hear me out IF LOKI was the God of ideas he would sit at THE START NOT In the MIDDLE of TIME ..he seems to be more of a Filter and Stabilizer then Creating any of it himself. he the New Temporal LOOM keeping things together and NOT erasing all timeline that aren't the Scared Timeline.
He should have a someone with his to his as a companion. Maybe this is what's happening to the real God? Created the universe put a lot of laws to make it run but unable to get out of his throne because to do so would be to undo what he created.
If Marvel is still planning on going through with the Kang storyline for the Avengers movies they need to get the writers from this show. They have proven that they are the ones that need to steer this storyline going forward.
THIS WAS INCREDIBLE. I love how the timeline became Yggdrasil. And Miss Minutes wasn't the big bad. There was no big bad. I also love how Loki was in this episode. Honestly he has become one of the best Marvel characters to ever exist.
Thank you!!! You recognized the tree. Seeing too many reactors not recognizing it. Have they not played God of War? We’re dealing with Norse mythology here!! Good on ya!! 🎉🎉
I’m so conflicted, because on the one hand I don’t want Loki to be gone just yet, but on the other hand this is the most poetically cruel ending that’s perfect for Loki and I don’t want them to potentially ruin it
I think hes gone in the sense that we will never see him in his physical form again we will only get astral loki where he goes through time to assemble a multiverse avengers to fight the Kangs but hes forever anchoring the multiverse at the end of time
Same. It’s going to take me awhile to process everything I just watched. I really hope this isn’t the end, but if it is, I truly wouldn’t want anyone else playing the role of this version of him and I’d judge anyone given the role in the future HARD. Unnecessarily hard. In my perfect world Tom would still be playing Loki into his 80s lol. 😂
I just watched an interview of him on the Jimmy Fallon show. And while he seems to be done with Loki, he did give a hint that because of how Loki’s story ended in the show that he might be back for Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.
24:48 “It’s what he’s always wanted” But it isn’t, though. “I never wanted the throne.” “I’m afraid of being alone.” “I don’t want to be alone.” His whole villain arc was based on his perception that he was alone and had no one who cared about him, so he lashed out. He thought he could use fear to get the throne, which would grant him respect and adoration. But now here he is, sacrificing the one thing he wanted in order to save multiverse and everyone in it because he finally realized he has people who care about him, that he’s not alone, and he has to protect them. “Most purpose is more burden than glory.” By taking the throne, he has to be alone, which was the thing he’s always been most afraid of. That’s what makes it a burden - because he DIDN’T want it.
That's exactly what I was saying too. Loki has been repeating he doesn't want the throne since first Thor movie. Imagine scenario with Thor in this episode. Thor has always wanted a throne to serve people. He stepped down, only because he didn't believe in his competence as a king. So finally taking a throne would have been a moment of thriumph for Thor. But it isn't for Loki.
@@MinecraftGuy07928 In the words of Dumbledore: “It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well.”
Fr though. It's now his job to watch everyone and everything him being the main thing makes sense. He better be one of the main focuses in Kang dynasty
IDK if you guys noticed, but the "For you. For all of us." line from Loki to Mobius and Sylvie is directly from the first Thor film at the end with Odin and Loki before Loki falls into space. Absolutely beautiful writing.
I wrote this on Reddit, but it's even more of a direct reference. Instead of Loki falling from a broken bridge, he ascended the one here to his throne.
Its poetic that the color used for the branches of time is Loki's trademark green which also happens to coincide with the color of the GREEN Time Stone. So good.
@ricardomiles2957 The color green isn't mutually exclusive. All I was saying is that the green happens to match the time stone as a coincidence. I never said they did this on purpose, you're the one being unnecessary.
Loki is a reminder of how insanely phenomenal the MCU can STILL get. This is just masterful television in every way. The directing, the writing, production, the acting, THE SCORE. They need this level of quality for every single upcoming MCU project, and i think we'll get there :)
Exactly this. I honestly believe if they spaced things out more, cut out some of the unimportant projects and have the same director rather than 20 different ones all trying to do something different then phase four/five could've been as amazing as this rather than the disjointed mess we've got at times. Apparently the loki director is going to be heavily involved in the avengers movies so there's still hope.
Can we also talk about how genius it is that the first episode of season 1 and the last episode of season 2 are both titled “Glorious Purpose”? What a beautiful ouroboros.
I like to think Mobius wanted to 'let time pass', not only because he was never able to, but because Loki holds time together and it makes him feel closer to Loki in a way.
“Is it mercy for me, or mercy for you?” Love how even though HWR is trying to play it cool, he REALLY does want Loki to take the burden of being in the center of time away from him. To quote himself from the last episode of season 1, “I’m tired.”
He Who Remains probably saw this possibility as well but was so tired, at that point, why come up with a plan to stop Loki, a literal God? I think he genuinely wanted to pass the torch, but his other iterations won't be so relieved.... how fun!
He also is blinded by the narrow view science gives you. He controlled fine through technology, technology has limits no matter how advanced it is, magic on the other hand is limitless
I think you’re wrong. Kang wants him there so he can be free. He doesn’t have to be there to maintain it. He needed a loki willing to do that and he finally found one.
@@DaDon357 But how would Kang be free? When Loki does ascend, it's at a point in time where HWR Kang is already dead. Loki's move isn't just about replacing HWR Kang, but turning the entire infinite Kang scenario on it's head, since the TVA starts dealing with HWR Variants INSTEAD of variants of anyone else. His so called Army that helped him win the War in the first place, is now turned against all Kangs, by somebody who isn't Kang.
PERFECTION! Loki pulling an Ultron infinity by staring the Watcher down as he himself now transcends into a multiversal God, The God of Stories was incredibly satisfying 😌 ❤️
Felt so relieved when they had Timely actually make it to the machine. Also my mouth dropped when they showed He Who Remains tell Loki he knew what was happening
Adding a point in here for discussion. Loki admitted last episode that he was afraid of being alone. He wanted to be with his friends, dare I say family. So to have the ultimate sacrifice and be alone for the rest of time so his friends can live on is just beautiful to me. What an ending. I had to rewatch this twice just to catch all the small bits of dialog. It was so good
I didn't say cause of the power he has now. But the person he became, but Loki season 2 finale seems like they are waiting to see what happens with Jonathan Majors in his court stuff to continue with him. Respectfully Kang is the most unique character ever introduced in Marvel each variant is completely different and there is so many layers to his character. Disney learned their lesson with Depp. So they didn't fire majors they're taking their time with him. But either way if we now skip Kang that means secret wars comes faster
The way I felt so empty after that ending and the realisation that Loki DID get what he wanted, but that was a long ago when he wanted to rule/ sit on a throne but now that his focus has shifted and had a major character development, he fears of being alone and wants to be with his friends so him sitting by himself at the throne alone forever is just so tragic to me😭he sacrificed himself just so his friends and other timelines could continue living
True dat,It was a bittersweet ending and i am feeling really sad about the ending and the fact that loki's last words to mobius and sylvie were the exact same words that he said to thor and odin before jumping off the bifrost at the end of thor 1 and this shit is killing me fr.
@@anushajain8198he got one with Mobius in the theatre, one with Sylvie in the jump to s5 ending, but yeah he should have had more emotional interactions with them before the ending.
I don't think Loki is at the beginning of time. He's still at the end of time. He is replacing HWR on the throne. The only difference is, HWR built the TVA to destroy all branches and keep his timeline safe. Loki is doing something better by holding all the timelines together himself and using his powers to keep them all alive simultaneously. Hence, the birth of a stable Multiverse. So as long as he is there at his throne, the multiverse will exist. He is not creating stories. He is recreating the story of the timelines by letting all timelines exist together in the multiverse. Just like how Loki reached HWR in season 1, I think the rest of the heroes will have to reach him in Secret Wars to stop the multiversal war.
THIS is the answer. The infinite branches and stories couldn't exist on their own, they needed someone to give them life. Loki has taken that burden. He is the king that those lives need.
They really made you understand the "BURDEN" in his "Burdened by glorious purpose"-motto. The more glorious the purpose, the greater the burden. This show did a really good job of selling that point. Astounding series all around
The fact that Loki turns it into the Yggdrasill tree is such poetic beauty that I can't even handle it. In Norse mythology, Yggdrasill is the world tree, a giant ash supporting the universe. It is closely related to the tree of life, a motif found across many cultures, and the tree of knowledge, which was said to grow in the Garden of Eden in Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). In Norse mythology, Yggdrasill is an enormous ash tree that connects the nine worlds, including the underworld (Niflheim), the earth (Midgard), and the realm of the gods (Asgard). Yggdrasill is associated with both life and death: it acts as a gallows that the god Odin hangs himself from in order to gain mystical knowledge, and it is said to be the source of new life after Ragnarök (Doomsday), the catastrophic final war of the gods. He literally came full circle and became the protector of the world. Talk about Glorious Purpose. He had the biggest character development of everyone in the MCU and I am so proud of him, I just wish he can gotten a reunion with Thor :')
Here is the thing. He can reunite with Thor anytime he wants, but he knows that wont last forever. He has now risen to the level of the Watcher, where he can now get to watch not just his own variants but the variant of every character in the Marvel universe. That includes variations of Thor.
I don't think He Who Remains is there at the end of time. We saw his mansion decay and blow away as Loki took the throne. Because Loki refused to kill Sylvie, HWR's death was made permanent. But there will now be a development of infinite Kangs (as we saw at the end of Quantumania) because Loki is enabling infinite timelines to grow. Loki is giving existence a chance to fight against the rise of Kangs. It doesn't have to be inevitable that the mutliversal war wipes out existence as HWR claimed.
Or is it permanent tho? We saw a glimpse at the end of Timely that is never given the TVA book. He might become HWR just as in the OG timeline without the influences from Loki's group.
@@dbrumble we still don't know if victor was he who remains It's more like he was the only variant who would help Loki without trying to take over time
@@dbrumblehe who remains planned to give Timely the book so he would understand how the big machine works (don't know how you spell it in English), so then he would be taken to the TVA and yada yada. So without the book, he will grow to become a different person who doesn't know a thing about the TVA.
@@dbrumbleno because HWR was from 31st century... He said that in s1 finale. He gave the handbook to his 19th century variant just to make the events of this season possoble so it would lead loki back to the events of s1 finale so ge could kill slyvie rather he destroyed the loom and took over to give the timelines a fighting chance
I mean even this one what better way to do a mutliversal war than having multiversal character. And the war is going to happen anyway so someone took him out or he had to leave.
OMG I just realised that this episode is called glorious purpose which is the exact same as S1 EP1 name glorious purpose because this episode circles back to that 1st episode and reflects on how Loki is burdened by glorious purpose which is just absolutely incredible absolutely love this show 🔥🔥
My hot take: Within the MCU, Loki has a better quality of work and a richer arc than Thor (standalone-wise). Granted, it’s an episodic show, however, they could’ve easily tanked this season as well. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. Tom Hiddleston truly deserved this. If they decide to revisit Thor, I hope Chris Hemsworth gets much better material to work with. This show has the kind of quality, writing, and themes I want in a Thor movie.
they both had good character progression but a movie, specially a mcu movie, can't get that same focus and time a show can. Despite the fact there already were moments that were clearly rushed and carried only by the actors and their skills, if Loki s1 and s2 were movies with the same plot and events it wouldn't hit nearly as hard
@@ricardomiles2957 the thing is, they really gave Thor development that was near the same level as Loki. The only thing was that they threw that all out the window with Thor 4.
Loki got two seasons with 12 episodes with each episode of being around an hour. Thor got 4 movies with each movie around 2 hr time which also had loki in first three movies
I don't know about you guys but to me this is some of the best sci-fi of any medium ever, I'm not even joking. It's crazy to see where Thor is at this point compared to Loki...Thor needs some redemption so badly. Maybe I was feeling sensitive this morning too but all the Mobius stuff at the end made me kinda teary. God bless that man.
no im done giving thor a million chances ,dude had 4 movies ,5 is way overkill ,loki alone with 2 seasons and a couple cameos in avengers movies had a way better story, time to explore other options imo
@@onyx3019that's cuz Tom didn't allow the execs and higher ups try to screw him. He had tons of input on the character the characterization and the storyline. He has a godly amountly of knowledge about Marvel Comics and his character in the comics and he and Kevin seem to be on the same wavelength when it comes to Loki and they have a good rapport with each other. Hell, once they reboot the MCU, if Kevin Feige ever wanted to retire I could even see Feige passing the torch to Tom to lead the new MCU
I think this falls into sci-fantasy. I've had better, there other stuffs that executed the ideas in the series better but I guess it's pretty nice. But it's more nice that you don't see the series as "superhero". That's another thing that's plaguing the MCU right now, fear of branching into other genres. They get trapped to the usual tropes cause Disney's too much of a chicken. Look at the other high mark of MCU this year: GOTG 3. You CAN get away of calling this space opera, hard scifi and not superhero.
Absolutely . I think it's Tom involving in the production, loving and knowing the character, so we end up with that level of respect to the viewers and story . Absolutely happy for Loki . And feel bad for the other show and characters MCU has corrupted.
When he started talking fast and pressing buttons after centuries of time-slipping all I was thinking was "He's the Doctor. He's literally just the Doctor now." ...and then he turned into a Norse God. lol None of his journey was a waste of time, though. Learning all the science and physics of how the Temporal Loom works was necessary for him to understand how to do the same thing with magic.
19:53 To asnwer your question...as he made clear earlier, HWR's end goal was to not only maintain the Sacred Timeline but to stay alive. Yes, he originally offered Loki/Sylvie the chance to replace him but the idea of Loki destroying the Sacred Timeline was never an option. Either Loki replaces him in Season 1 or Loki ends up in a loop trying to save the TVA before inevitably killing Sylvie. That was the real "gambit" of HWR. He was so sure that Loki would kill Sylvie. Because he' a "villain". He couldn't possibly comprehend the level of self-sacrifice he would go to in order to protect his friends. So, in the end, HWR's hubris was the end of him. Also, sorry Coy but I think you misinterpreted the ending; this isn't Loki at the beginning of time (with HWR at the end) - Loki is at the END of time, bascially taking the place of HWR. They're not some kind of mythological creator/destroyer duo, it's just Loki now occupying the "Big Chair". Loki might symbolise more of a creator in how he "rules" this domain but nothing more than that. Your comment that this "always had to occur otherwise there is no creation" makes no sense - HWR never wanted this because he didn't want to die (Said so himself), he wanted Loki to accept defeat and allow him to live. But Kang and his variants, however dangerous, are only human and it was that very Loki-like arrogance that made him underestimate his opponent. And the reason it said "After" was just to show that the next scene took place at a later time period, because the TVA is outside of time so they couldn't really say "6 months/weeks later". It just means after, bud. Occam's razor - the simplest explaination is usually the correct one
Correct. It is however the assumption that feels most satisfying narratively. As we are dealing with fiction there is no "truth" until a writer comes along and fucks things up by refusing to leave Loki's arc finished.@@BrandonWestfall
Okay. I sobbed at the end of this. Did anyone else have this emotional reaction? I feel like my heart is dying. He is Loki. And he is alone… but he saved everyone he loves. Dang it. I’m so, so sad.
I cried my eyes out for hours. I always loved loki but for some reason this whole arc, when taking into account everything, is just insane. I'm still mourning him, especially because Tom said this is it.
I think I was too shocked to cry, and this is coming from someone who cries very easily watching films/tv. I’ve been wanting to reach the episode to let it fully sink in, but I’m not mentally ready.
So, after all, Loki was actually born to be king, not of Asgard, but of the Multiverse. And not just a king. Now Loki is the root and connecting link of all the worlds, their center and ruler.
This felt so cosmic at the level we were all wishing to see in things like doctor strange 2. It's great to finally have this. It made me so sad because in the last episode Loki was basically crying over the fact that he didn't want to be alone and he wanted his friends back. Now to see it end with Loki making a sacrifice to be alone for all eternity to pretty much be the most powerful person in all of existence sitting upon his time throne. And does this mean they really are going away with kang and doing the doctor doom thing? Either way epic finale, very much worth the wait.
I think they could keep Kang. Soon as Loki leaves that place or something happens to him Kang is back literally lol but definitely a way out the Kang narrative if that's what they doing
I think it’s both heartbreaking and beautiful that it wasn’t until after Loki decided and declared that “the last thing he wants is a throne,” that he finally got his throne. Not to mention episode 5 when he accepted the fact that he’s afraid and does not want to be alone. This ending was so somber and poetic. Here’s my question… Do you think Loki can duplication cast himself onto timelines to visit people?
I’m hoping for that so much. We see he was able to project to Earth from Asgard. I’m imagining it wouldn’t be too difficult from his seat at the EOT to project an apparition into any time or place. Even if it’s completely intangible or he can only hold it for a short amount of time. They have an easy excuse to drop a Loki cameo whenever they want if the need arises.
my favourite thing about this episode was how much it feels like a comic, the pure visual storytelling of Loki stepping up to his role, the hopping around to different points in time, even some of the visuals looked like they could've come straight out of a comic
I have never said this, but loki season 2 episode 6, was just perfect. no second word needed. It truly made me invested with my emotions like og marvel did.
Could not agree more, before this series i was feeling like my excitement and love for marvel is fading but this show got me excited like marvel always do. This was the best thing marvel has ever pit out after infinity war/endgame
Agreed. I have enjoyed most of what Marvel has put out recently, but I’ve never felt this excited for something until Loki season 2, and not since infinity war/endgame.
Loki Who Remains. Loki - the God of Stories. GLORIOUS ending 💚. He Who Remains at the end knew that Loki will take the throne. What a sacrifice. When World Tree Yggdrasil showed up I started screaming. Loki rewrote it that it was 9 realms tree, now its Multiversal tree. WOW. I heard creators confirmed this makes Lokis story complete and theres no season 3 coming. Im glad.. I didnt know that before I watched the episode and still I knew that Toms stare means this may be the last moment we see him and he basically thanks everyone for this role. Teared me up so much instantly. I couldnt be happier. Loki may be possibly the best developed MCU character and I dont want anything else. And btw I want Funko of Loki on that throne with branches 👀
I like how they turned this show around, giving Loki the proper time and importance he deserved. In the end he was the one to save it all, to walk the walk, put in effort and stay true to his legend. Nice.
Benson & Moorhead shaped this season into a truly cosmic epic unlike anything else in the MCU, and I really hope they're given free reign to provide more breath-taking cosmic visuals and personal-scale storytelling.
10 minutes into episode 1 of season 2 and I already knew they cooked up a marvel studios classic. Watched something in the dirt a film by them and I fucking loved it so I knew they would bring serious creativity to Loki!!!! they will definitely be getting more marvel work in the future
@@Davefromdabend Justin & Aaron are seriously the current masters of cosmic horror, and after tapping it a wee in Moon Knight too, I really REALLY hope they get to make an original mid-budget cosmic horror film
And let’s not forget how much Natalie Holt contributed with her breathtaking score. This is by far my favourite OST of any Marvel project, and probably of any TV show ever. Spectacular
Im glad you guys managed to work around the block 😊 The fact that the Sacred Timeline is now in the shape of Yggdrasil, the World Tree, is just amazing.
I wish Odin could see Loki now and see how far he's come, as cheesy as that sounds. Also I love the flip where Thor was chosen but no longer rules Asgard and Loki wasnt but is now accepting the burden of his new throne and "glorious purpose" , but ultimately not wanting it. Now thats character development 👏
Hey Greg and John. My name is Joey and I was the Post PA for Loki who met you at the Disney lot while you guys were waiting to see Avatar 2 screening. I remember telling you both that Loki season 2 was going to be something special! It has been awesome to see your reactions to my team’s hard work. Keep up the great work!!!
Crazy Loki learning what he has to do via Renslayers making a hard choice and it’s poetic because Victor Timely and HWR said “Make the HARD choice” this season .
Best finale since Infinity War (we lose)/Endgame (we win but with burden). Tom Hiddlestone deserves an Emmy for this, what an actor! And Majors truly amazing in this one! Hope we will know more about this in Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars
@@LetsGetitBoah He is one of Kang´s variants, and the coauthor of the TVA´s guide, he will grow again and make his amazing discoveries but without the help of Ravonna or Miss Minutes
@@LetsGetitBoahwithout the factor of Victor Loki would’ve never figured out what he needed to do. HWR knew Victor was gonna fail and he needed him to so that Loki could take the offer he gave him in the first season and that’s being the one in control of the timelines.
I like to think Loki can still send a projection through time/space so he can still enjoy himself. If not, hopefully he can still watch over his friends and protect them.
By far one of the best finales of a MCU series! Kudos to the writers for sending their brains through the mental gymnastics of planning this out. I'm excited for the multiverse and what's to come going forward.
20:00 funny. 30 seconds prior, when Loki jumps back into himself of that time, he does so exactly when Timely pulls his head out of the scanner and the computer goes "Welcome, He Who Remains". *Exactly* as Loki enters himself. that's not Timely who is being identified... it's Loki. Loki is *he who remains* from that point on.
Loki is literally THE God of All time🤯 He became more of a God than Odin, Thor, Hela and any other God there is. And it almost makes me wanna cry to see Loki claim the Throne he was born for. He went from my favourite villain, to my favourite hero
“I might just wait here a little bit. Let time pass.” What a perfectly fitting line to end this show on. God I was not expecting this season to be as amazing as it was, especially with how let down I’ve been for the past couple of years.
No idea if this was coordinated but I like how Coy sit's in the pink chair next to Greg with the pink shirt who's sitting in a blue chair next to John with the blue shirt sitting on the red chair and on the other side there's Coy with the red shirt. It's like.... an Ouroboros....
If you think back to last seasons finale he who remained offered his job to them and then by the end of this season you come to find out it was his plan all along for Loki to end up taking his place but disguised it in a way that it was a natural progression and decision Loki had to make
I think she understood that- like she said herself, Loki is giving them a chance to fight back. The war is inevitable, and the kang variants will come, so she might actually also try and find people to fight back
She doesn't deserve it. She essentially destroyed the mutliverse for her "vengeance" and not once did she take responsibility, in fact she held Loki responsible and expected him to fix it. Terrible character.
This was something else. The visuals, the story telling, the emotions and everything so well put together too. It was absolutely AMAZING Story writing. Just wow...
Rewatching this in August 2024 and man was it even more emotional than I remembered. What a remarkeable conclusion Loki got, my respect for Tom Hiddleston is immeasureable. This is the peak of Marvel storytelling, like seriously it doesn't get better than this. If you find the time, cherish this show again as it really is an all timer. One of my favourites of all time (always).
The fact that "He Who Remains' foresaw the future into the Temporal Loom collapsing is brilliant checkmating Loki. He made Loki go through hundreds of years of hell to travel back to this specific moment. If this variant of Kang being this sinister, The main prime version will be diabolical. In the end Loki found his glorious purpose by becoming the "God of Stories" holding all the different realities together. They literally combined elements from Stargate SG-1's episode "Window of Opportunity" with little bit of Sherlock as Loki does his classic speed talking mixed Quantum leaping as he jumps into his past version self.
Exactly. HWR was playing 4D chess. But it’s boring playing alone. Loki was initially just a pawn. But then he got time slipping powers. HWR literally let his pawn get to the end and become Queened so that he would have someone to play against. He totally expected that once Loki understood how the game worked, he would sit down and play with him. But instead Loki did something he wasn’t expecting, he flipped the table and scattered all the pieces.
He Who Remains was the Prime Kang. Hello, why else would he protect the Sacred Timeline (MCU timeline)? Prime Kang ended the War & became the Man in the chair & then Sylvie killed him. However with Victor Timely at the TVA alive & well at the End of Loki season 2 is that Prime Kang.
hype hype hype, this finale was absolutely beautiful, the ending with the tree. Gorgeous. The choice to not do an end credit gives me so much respect to just let it focus on the story we just got taken on and let us sit with it, instead of trying to sell the next thing. It felt like they actually cared about the title character and gave him his time.
What's interesting is that the phrase "Glorious Purpose" focuses on the 'Glory' aspect in S1E1, while this episode shifts to emphasize "Purpose" alone lacking any desire for glory. Loki didn't want a throne anymore. He wanted for his friends TO LIVE. Even if it meant to live without him. It was the ultimate sacrifice. Such beautiful writing. This is one of the reasons I believe Loki won't have S3, and I don't think there needs to be one. p.s. I appreciate that writers are attentive and focus on telling a multilayered story as opposed to just making shit up for no reason to have a 'big bad' or 'strong' characters. This felt like old MCU. Hopefully it transcends to to the future bigscreen projects as well
I come back and watch it. This is what the MCU SHOULD BE!!! It such a sad an emotional conclusion yet it was incredibly satisfying. One of the most satisfying finales ive ever scene. He gets the throne that he have always wanted but when he gets it, he wanted it the least. Powerful yet meaningful statement.
Wow Loki is Marvel at its finest and what should have been all Disney + shows, it has its own style and exceeded all expectations. Its lowkey bittersweet seeing it end
TRULY INCREDIBLE. This was one of those things where you go like "Will there ever be something this good again?". It's almost bittersweet watching the episode because it's so mind blowing, and you will never again watch it for the first time. The opening scene, the admiration of his friends, the finale of the second season being not just the obvious glorious purpose, but more amazingly, the burden... both emotionally with his friends, his respect for Mobius to go to him at the very end, but even carrying the timeline to the throne. Just amazing. The (somehow) even greater ominousness of HHR despite the same exact scene that was amazing to begin with. And the comic book like visuals, the opening scene, the ending scenes, his suit turning into Loki... so much respect for Disney and Marvel, Tom Hiddleston and everyone involved for this.
I love shows where all the guesses be wrong! 😂the 1 thing I took from this episode? Season 1 loki in a time loop with Lady Siff and her telling him “ you’re destined to be alone”! He didn’t actually become god of stories either! And loki carrying the timelines like in the comic!! This was so 🔥and that shot with Renslayer and the pyramid? She’s going to meet Rama tut!
Loki was the No.1 threat to kang, now Loki has to sit on thrown which means kang variants can go around doing whatever, maybe mobius will find a way to reach Loki, give him like a phone to contact with him, and whilst the TVA hunt down kang variants they call Loki to see what timeline they're on and go find kangs. Just a quick thought haha
Loki is now playing the role of Atlez from the comics.(NOT THE GOD OF STORIES, look him up ) Atlez was in charge of keeping the multiverse binded together through his own body
Seeing Loki just go like "Yep, you got this. One step after another. You're being so brave. So very brave. Come on. Let's go." while Victor is going to the Loom feels like when you're replaying a game for the umpteenth time, and just skipping all the cutscenes, and such. Or better yet, dealing with unskippable cutscenes that you've seen countless times.
Man I love the themes in this Glorious purpose Knowing our burdens It’s like Atlas holding up the sky. Loki is holding up the entire multiverse so that life can thrive. He really has come full circle from destroying New York, to sustaining ALL life in the ENTIRE multiverse.
This was by far the one of the best series/stories of the MCU so far. I was blown away by the finale. WOW I didn’t think I could love Loki more & BAM 🌳
This was by far and away the best season of TV Marvel have put out. The writting, the perofmances, the Cinematography, the set design. Everything was top quality. And what anamazunf two season ark for Loki! Loved it!!!
I think he who remains' hopes for the end game is that Loki would protect him and let the old ways continue. But sucks for him coz Loki found a new way to protect the timelines. Such an amazing series!
I wonder where HRW got it wrong about Loki. Did he underestimate Loki's love for his friends, his courage, his intelligence, his selflessness? It's such a good episode.
Some of the best writing ever . Everything loops on itself just like He Who Remains explained. Everything down to the titles of the episodes loop yet end this two chapter story perfectly and poetically . The fact He Who Remains was alone for so long he formed a whole 5D chess simulation to prime a predecessor . It’s insane how Sylvie , Loki, Kang , Ravonna , Miss Minutes, Etc all offer to change time to others and how Victor Timely and OB are basically the same person at different points in time . They both serve the same purpose at different instances and in case . I hope Jon Majors beats his case . It will be a shame if the MCU loses such a versatile and natural actor .
Loki was Godspeed a masterpiece , my mind is blown I can’t even comprehend how amazing this series was, this was ahead of everything is film , the emotions just crazy !
The best part for me is that we got Kangs backstory through Loki, Lokis conflict would of been the same as Kangs at first but they chose to achieve similar goals but in a entirely different way. It's fantastic
The music, the story, everything about this show is AMAZING!!! I just can’t get over how PROUD Thor would be for Loki, he’s definitely came a long way from Thor (2011) can’t believe this was the Loki from The Avengers (2012)

Why is there a TVA now tho? no need to prune right? Or is the future.. tech that allows you to jump etc and the tva will be policing ppl like Cable?
Holy shit! I just got done watching Loki finale. That is by far the most brilliant piece of television Marvel has ever made. 👨🍳
Exactly. They did a wonderful job with this show.
They are rewriting Daredevil´s Born Again
It's better with Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead
Eric Martin better write The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars
Would revive marvel for sure
THIS WAS INCREDIBLE. I love how the timeline became Yggdrasil. And Miss Minutes wasn't the big bad. There was no big bad. I also love how Loki was in this episode. Honestly he has become one of the best Marvel characters to ever exist.
EXACTLY! Just Loki coming to terms with what he wants and what he has to do. He is truly burdened with glorious purpose 😭
Breath taking
Thank you!!! You recognized the tree. Seeing too many reactors not recognizing it.
Have they not played God of War? We’re dealing with Norse mythology here!!
Good on ya!! 🎉🎉
why would he not be in this episode
this series was so GOOODDD. LOKI is my fav character and still is this season was so good and a eye opener
I’m so conflicted, because on the one hand I don’t want Loki to be gone just yet, but on the other hand this is the most poetically cruel ending that’s perfect for Loki and I don’t want them to potentially ruin it
He’s not gonna be gone
I think hes gone in the sense that we will never see him in his physical form again we will only get astral loki where he goes through time to assemble a multiverse avengers to fight the Kangs but hes forever anchoring the multiverse at the end of time
Same. It’s going to take me awhile to process everything I just watched. I really hope this isn’t the end, but if it is, I truly wouldn’t want anyone else playing the role of this version of him and I’d judge anyone given the role in the future HARD. Unnecessarily hard. In my perfect world Tom would still be playing Loki into his 80s lol. 😂
He's been a massive part of the MCU for the last 14 years. That should be enough.
I just watched an interview of him on the Jimmy Fallon show. And while he seems to be done with Loki, he did give a hint that because of how Loki’s story ended in the show that he might be back for Kang Dynasty or Secret Wars.
24:48 “It’s what he’s always wanted”
But it isn’t, though.
THIS 🤌 That's so beautifully written. You should write reviews for stuff like this. Make it a part time job
😢
That's exactly what I was saying too. Loki has been repeating he doesn't want the throne since first Thor movie. Imagine scenario with Thor in this episode. Thor has always wanted a throne to serve people. He stepped down, only because he didn't believe in his competence as a king. So finally taking a throne would have been a moment of thriumph for Thor. But it isn't for Loki.
Loki couldn't ascend to the throne until it was no longer what he desired. Hence the whole "Most purpose is more burden than glory".
@@MinecraftGuy07928 In the words of Dumbledore: “It is a curious thing, Harry, but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. I love how Loki was basically made the main character of the MCU. And I don't mean metaphorically, I mean literally.
Fr though. It's now his job to watch everyone and everything him being the main thing makes sense. He better be one of the main focuses in Kang dynasty

Ouroboros, Loki is the end and the beginning.
Next we need Ruin king Thor if they had the balls to do this with Loki
IDK if you guys noticed, but the "For you. For all of us." line from Loki to Mobius and Sylvie is directly from the first Thor film at the end with Odin and Loki before Loki falls into space. Absolutely beautiful writing.
Thanks I'm gonna go cry now
IFKR 😢😭😭
I'm glad someone else noticed that.
I wrote this on Reddit, but it's even more of a direct reference.
Instead of Loki falling from a broken bridge, he ascended the one here to his throne.
It's just a call back to it
Its poetic that the color used for the branches of time is Loki's trademark green which also happens to coincide with the color of the GREEN Time Stone. So good.
Green like a tree too
Loki is, in my opinion, the God and Guardian, of the beginning of time and timelines now.
c'mon don't push it. It's not the same green at all, the ending was already beatiful, no need for obtuse "connections"
@ricardomiles2957 The color green isn't mutually exclusive. All I was saying is that the green happens to match the time stone as a coincidence. I never said they did this on purpose, you're the one being unnecessary.
He is like a living time stone.
Ya and between those two episodes the meaning of the title completely changes!!!!
😳How is this show even this brilliant though actually what the heck. It was too good.
I like to think Mobius wanted to 'let time pass', not only because he was never able to, but because Loki holds time together and it makes him feel closer to Loki in a way.
Huge fan of this
I really like this thought, ya its just like.... a very literal friend is beside you, in spirit. :)

This is so sweet!
in the last scene mobius is lit in green and golden light, loki's colors. and then loki hears his voice and smiles. their connection is so strong
“Is it mercy for me, or mercy for you?”
Love how even though HWR is trying to play it cool, he REALLY does want Loki to take the burden of being in the center of time away from him.
@@DaDon357created*
@@DaDon357 But how would Kang be free? When Loki does ascend, it's at a point in time where HWR Kang is already dead. His so called Army that helped him win the War in the first place, is now turned against all Kangs, by somebody who isn't Kang.

So to have the ultimate sacrifice and be alone for the rest of time so his friends can live on is just beautiful to me. What an ending. I had to rewatch this twice just to catch all the small bits of dialog. It was so good

Yeah, he would be very proud for what kind of man Loki have become
Not because of the amount of power he obtained, but because he decided to use it for the good of everyone
@@doctornobody0 of course
I didn't say cause of the power he has now. But the person he became, but Loki season 2 finale seems like they are waiting to see what happens with Jonathan Majors in his court stuff to continue with him. Respectfully Kang is the most unique character ever introduced in Marvel each variant is completely different and there is so many layers to his character. Disney learned their lesson with Depp. So they didn't fire majors they're taking their time with him. But either way if we now skip Kang that means secret wars comes faster
He would be so proud
The way I felt so empty after that ending and the realisation that Loki DID get what he wanted, but that was a long ago when he wanted to rule/ sit on a throne but now that his focus has shifted and had a major character development, he fears of being alone and wants to be with his friends so him sitting by himself at the throne alone forever is just so tragic to me😭he sacrificed himself just so his friends and other timelines could continue living

I think he is neither at end nor ar beginning, he is "THE CENTER OF TIME" who is holding all the timelines together
THIS is the answer. The infinite branches and stories couldn't exist on their own, they needed someone to give them life. Loki has taken that burden. He is the king that those lives need.
If they reach him in Secret Wars, the audience who didn’t watch the Loki series will be so fucking confused lol
@CruzaderKnight thats their fault tho 😂
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 this
They really made you understand the "BURDEN" in his "Burdened by glorious purpose"-motto.
@@crimsonghoul8983 Yes. But I still want to see a reunion 🫂 😫
I also want him to reunite with Thor!

I'd like this quality in all of the MCU
Thor is a boring character
It's peak writing. This genuinely feels like a comic book, the stakes are high and you can believe them.
I don't know about you guys but to me this is some of the best sci-fi of any medium ever, I'm not even joking. It's crazy to see where Thor is at this point compared to Loki...Thor needs some redemption so badly.

Beautifully said
Except you factually don't know that.
You don't know if Kang saw this future or not. That's just an assumption.
Loki make a third option that he who remains didn't think was possible.
Correct. It is however the assumption that feels most satisfying narratively. As we are dealing with fiction there is no "truth" until a writer comes along and fucks things up by refusing to leave Loki's arc finished.@@BrandonWestfall

Omg yes, I adored the music!
YES!! Every episode had different flair but the finale was masterful!
She went crazy with the visuals that were literally out of this world for the scenes with Loki
So, after all, Loki was actually born to be king, not of Asgard, but of the Multiverse. And not just a king. Now Loki is the root and connecting link of all the worlds, their center and ruler.
That scene of Loki ascending to God-hood is one of the most powerful Marvel scenes! That and Iron Man sacrificing himself! 😭💚

@@accountnew7030 Bro how many times are you going to leave this same comment? Are you 12 yrs old?
I think it’s both heartbreaking and beautiful that it wasn’t until after Loki decided and declared that “the last thing he wants is a throne,” that he finally got his throne. Not to mention episode 5 when he accepted the fact that he’s afraid and does not want to be alone. This ending was so somber and poetic.
Here’s my question…
Do you think Loki can duplication cast himself onto timelines to visit people?
I’m hoping for that so much. We see he was able to project to Earth from Asgard. I’m imagining it wouldn’t be too difficult from his seat at the EOT to project an apparition into any time or place. Even if it’s completely intangible or he can only hold it for a short amount of time. They have an easy excuse to drop a Loki cameo whenever they want if the need arises.
my favourite thing about this episode was how much it feels like a comic, the pure visual storytelling of Loki stepping up to his role, the hopping around to different points in time, even some of the visuals looked like they could've come straight out of a comic

@@Davefromdabend Justin & Aaron are seriously the current masters of cosmic horror, and after tapping it a wee in Moon Knight too, I really REALLY hope they get to make an original mid-budget cosmic horror film
Makes me more hyped for DDBA after this finale
@@korrainomad365 fuck yea
And let’s not forget how much Natalie Holt contributed with her breathtaking score. This is by far my favourite OST of any Marvel project, and probably of any TV show ever. Spectacular
Im glad you guys managed to work around the block 😊
The fact that the Sacred Timeline is now in the shape of Yggdrasil, the World Tree, is just amazing.
Loki just became the most powerful character in MCU in just 2 seasons.
Omg I know right
I wish Odin could see Loki now and see how far he's come, as cheesy as that sounds.
Also I love the flip where Thor was chosen but no longer rules Asgard and Loki wasnt but is now accepting the burden of his new throne and "glorious purpose" , but ultimately not wanting it.
Now thats character development 👏
Loki is Worthy now, no doubt.
@bable6314 That would be a really beautiful thing to see Loki lift Mjolnir and to have Thor witness it.
Loki is easily the best written character in MCU and top 3 mcu projects and Loki is the new face of MCU now 🔥
Best finale since Infinity War (we lose)/Endgame (we win but with burden). Tom Hiddlestone deserves an Emmy for this, what an actor! And Majors truly amazing in this one! Hope we will know more about this in Kang Dynasty/Secret Wars
What was the point of victor though?
@@LetsGetitBoah He is one of Kang´s variants, and the coauthor of the TVA´s guide, he will grow again and make his amazing discoveries but without the help of Ravonna or Miss Minutes
@@LetsGetitBoahwithout the factor of Victor Loki would’ve never figured out what he needed to do. HWR knew Victor was gonna fail and he needed him to so that Loki could take the offer he gave him in the first season and that’s being the one in control of the timelines.
Hiddleston has always been a treat as Loki, but he really elevated the character to insane heights here in Season 2. Absolutely amazing stuff.
I love how there is no cameo no distraction its just loki and loki show love it. Best show ever
Right.
Um. Loki himself was like a cameo. He wasn’t needed much in this show at *ALL* until the final scene..
I like to think Loki can still send a projection through time/space so he can still enjoy himself.
If not, hopefully he can still watch over his friends and protect them.
Like Madame Web.
This was such a beautiful episode. Loki truly is burdened with glorious purpose. 💚
Now, his purpose is this glorious burden
By far one of the best finales of a MCU series! Kudos to the writers for sending their brains through the mental gymnastics of planning this out. I'm excited for the multiverse and what's to come going forward.
*”You are alone, and you always will be”* from season 1, god damn.
20:00
funny.
Good catch!
Loki is literally THE God of All time🤯
He became more of a God than Odin, Thor, Hela and any other God there is.
And it almost makes me wanna cry to see Loki claim the Throne he was born for.
He went from my favourite villain, to my favourite hero
They need to imply in the future movies to come - LOKI is the reason why the time stone was always green!
Sick lol
Then what about the colors of the other Stones ?
Loki once again have set the bar. This is perfection
What an episode. Loki is some of the best stuff the mcu has ever put out
“I might just wait here a little bit.
They should pin this comment, good eye.
Orusborus
If you think back to last seasons finale he who remained offered his job to them and then by the end of this season you come to find out it was his plan all along for Loki to end up taking his place but disguised it in a way that it was a natural progression and decision Loki had to make
Well, thanks to Loki becoming the tree of life of the Multiverse now Sylvie can go anywhere and live the life that she always wanted
And I have the feel she later will help the avengers to make sure that this new oportunity give it from loki doesn't waste
@@nayelivalenciana2304 I hope so too
I think she understood that- like she said herself, Loki is giving them a chance to fight back. The war is inevitable, and the kang variants will come, so she might actually also try and find people to fight back
@@peppocket7683 maybe even with mobius, like a team 😅
She doesn't deserve it. She essentially destroyed the mutliverse for her "vengeance" and not once did she take responsibility, in fact she held Loki responsible and expected him to fix it. Terrible character.
I WILL MISS THE LOKI SERIES MAN😭😭😭🥹 everything was just perfection
Both really well put
He Who Remains was the Prime Kang. Hello, why else would he protect the Sacred Timeline (MCU timeline)? Prime Kang ended the War & became the Man in the chair & then Sylvie killed him. However with Victor Timely at the TVA alive & well at the End of Loki season 2 is that Prime Kang.
'The last thing I want is a throne' Is a so simple but incredibly written line...
hype hype hype, this finale was absolutely beautiful, the ending with the tree. Gorgeous. The choice to not do an end credit gives me so much respect to just let it focus on the story we just got taken on and let us sit with it, instead of trying to sell the next thing. It felt like they actually cared about the title character and gave him his time.
The tree was shown throughout the season. In the murals and on the posters. Weird that no one noticed it.
20:21 - They did bring it back around
"Glorious Purpose" was the title of S1E1 & S2E6 -- a nice Ouroboros 🔥
Wow! Nicely worded 😭
Wow Loki is Marvel at its finest and what should have been all Disney + shows, it has its own style and exceeded all expectations. Its lowkey bittersweet seeing it end
AMAZING ending, got em nip chills when Loki sat on his throne omg art direction was exquisite, the whole cast and crew cooked something really special
Loving the visual pun when Loki creates the steps to walk up to the throne. He's literally making his own path.
Loki became a real God from the trials of humanity. Hell of a character arc.
To quote the Collector:
"Magnificent. Magnificent. MAGNIFICENT!"
Man I love the themes in this
Glorious purpose
Knowing our burdens
It’s like Atlas holding up the sky.
Facts
21:09 omg LOL I was cheering with you. Man I keep watching that part over and over!!!
Exactly! Loki did it and won. Or at least gave the multiverse a chance to fight and exist.
I wonder where HRW got it wrong about Loki. Did he underestimate Loki's love for his friends, his courage, his intelligence, his selflessness? It's such a good episode.
@@asdkotablehe couldn't see the point of someone like Loki giving in to something like hope like Sylvie said she never Loki as an optimist
Give Tom his Emmy!!!
Exactly 💯
If he's guilty then I hope he doesn't. That's really shitty to hope for a victim to not get justice just because you like Majors as an actor.
@@SubKween I suppose it is …luckily that not the case for me .
What did you think of the finale?!
Perfect
Fucking Incredible loved it.
Garbage
I love the season finale❤
Phenomenal.
I will be more happy if Kang dynasty is a series, so that we can get bigger story depth for a larger problem like this.
I CRIEDDDDD on this episode!!! It's so freakin perfect
The music, the story, everything about this show is AMAZING!!! I just can’t get over how PROUD Thor would be for Loki, he’s definitely came a long way from Thor (2011) can’t believe this was the Loki from The Avengers (2012)
