This so good don’t ever feel bad. Kids even boys need to learn to run a home correctly!! The deep cleaning, cooking, bills, budgets. This includes vehicles make the boys be in charge of keeping it clean.Yes this is what kids need to do!!!

I so agree with you about allowance! We only pay them now for certain jobs. I mean, I don't get paid for all the housework I do, so why should they? 😂. But yes, as they get older, giving them some opportunities to earn money is really important. I think you have a really great system going.

I read many years ago... don't let your kids do trivial jobs, give them something that makes your life more awesome. Having my kids(now teens) help with dishes and kitchen clean up absolutely makes my life more awesome!

I share your philosophy on allowances. However, as they reach adolescence the money incentive works (sometimes). Getting them their own checking accounts (for the teens) really helps with money management and gives them that taste of independence that teens so desperately crave. Hope it works out for your family . God Bless. 😊

I'm so impressed by this list! My kids were not taught in this way when they were little...my mom always did the bulk of everything, and I carried on that tradition, and it has been a mistake. :/ My kids are now 17 and 14, and they complain about the very few chores that I do give them. I'm working on this now, but wish so much that I had started these habits when they were young.

I would love a video of the expectations and the consequences. Maybe a community video idea? Great ideas!

Same here as far as allowance goes! We will pay our kids for extra hard jobs they help with. Like stacking large amounts of wood or clearing brush and what not on the property.

Im glad you made this video... I also felt like an allowance wasnt necessary for basic chores that are part of life- but no judgement for those that do it. But lately been considering somewhat of an allowance for the older ones - more so to start teaching about money... Nice to hear its working out for you

I love it!!! So close to what I do with my 4 kids! We love having them help. Highly recommend doing the Not Consumed “Work Unto the Lord” study, so good! They will
Thank you for the help later! Great job mama!!

I've heard of some giving an allowance not for chores but just to give one , but with the understanding that the child will buy certain things or pay 1/2 to teach money management. I'm still trying to decide which one to do myself.

We have a similar system for our kids. Basic chores are expected because you live in the house, but the more demanding chores earn the money.
Its been amazing to watch them grow as they earn and spend their own money. We cover their needs, but they cover their wants. They have gotten good at negotiating with us (splitting the cost of things, usually), finding deals, and deciding to save instead of spend.

I fully believe that children need age appropriate chores. It gives them a sense of belonging, ownership and responsibility. It also helps with mindfulness and consideration for others.
You won't believe how many college students I have talked to whose roommates had no regard for cleanliness and personal responsibility.

Would you be up for posting a master list of the chores? I didn't learn this growing up so, a lot of the chores you listed were new to me, or at least how you broke them down! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

So many amazing things came from our oldest 2 children having to pay for the "perks" non essential items they want! That will be the same for our Littles (6, & 3) when they are of age. They both help with chores

  • @br1t218
    @br1t218 Рік тому

We have a similar system. We have 7,6,6,5 and almost 2 they do typical chores and then we have above and beyond chores that can earn them money.

If you change the way you think of it. We call it commissions instead of allowance. It's teaching them that when you work, you are paid for the work you do. We also require our kids to split their pay into thirds. Save, spend, and Tithe.

    Good morning!!
    I understand what you mean.
I used to try cleaning everything all at once, and I realize can not do everything.
Now, I just clean what I can.
I been teaching my 16 years old daughter, since last semester home school, try cleaning some. Some she lime doing, and some she did not like .
That is a good ideal, to pay them money, to do chores. I'm gonna give it a try, and see how that works.

Love this! We do a similar system here, except we break it up by rooms. I have printed off weekly cleaning lists for each room and we do one room a day. I am in charge of kitchen and laundry room and that’s about it. Monthly deep cleaning is scheduled for our breaks from school. Allowance is given weekly so they can learn money management.

I love this! It’s so important for every person in a home to be able to maintain it. I love having everything done in one day also but the way you are maintaining it daily helps to keep it clean continually. That’s pretty fantastic!

Thanks for sharing! We do something similar too! especially with yard work and my oldest son (13). I figure instead of paying 70 bucks for the lawn to be mowed we can pay him 10 and we are both happy! 🤣 Did you feel the house cleaning service was worth it? I've considered one myself.

Nothing against people who give their children allowance… I will never understand it though. These are life long habits, and expectations for a lifetime. Now I don’t feel that bad for not giving allowances lol thanks, such a great video!

Hi there- I have my kids do chores too and I wanted to ask about the money part- the certain amount you give them, do you have them split it up between giving, saving, and spending?

This is great! how about blinds? with six dogs ourselves that's something that seems to get really dusty and dirty! I have four children too, different ages, but wondering if this is something you'd add to someone or do as a parent in your own "chores" per se

    • @GraceandGrit

Dusting blinds is apart of dust your room or living room so they get done weekly!
