    Nice set up. Just a tip on that water flow gauge. I would have it reading on the output side of the DI system so you can monitor flow rate. Bc as the Resin loses its effectiveness the flow rate coming out will slow down. That’s how I have mine setup. Works great!

    Hey Phil awesome set up, it's just like my RO/DI 5 stage for my Marine aquarium it also uses the same resin but the canisters are clear so that you can see the resin when it depletes. You can just buy the resin and fill it up yourself, just make sure that sponge inside stays intact when packing your resin tightly good luck.

    Since you are using well water thats a plus because if it was city water you would want to check if you have Chlorine or Chloramines in the water for disinfectants. Cholramines will drasticly reduce the lifespan of the DI resin in the filter.

    Good info Phil. I can't stress enough to get brass fittings. Otherwise it will likely be aluminum. Since the garden hose ends may be steel, you can get galvanic corrosion, and basically fuse the aluminum to the steel.
    I would recommend Teflon tape on all threads to act as thread lubricant.

    Loving the continual upgrades in the garage! I've been using the DIC-20 for about 10 years in my home garage and I get between 250-300 gallons of water before needing to replace my resin cartridges. At 26 PPM you have really good water so I'm very interested to see how much longer the resins will last. You will probably get well past 300 gallons I'd imagine. I also have well water but my TDS come in around 220-250 on average which absolutely eats the resin. Without the CR Spotless I couldn't wash in the summer. I'm definitely looking into some pre-filtration to try and reduce my TDS some prior to entering the CR Spotless.

      I couldn't agree more, Phils upgrades are worthwhile doing...I have a CRS 20 as well but i did a hack and use one for pre filter, the other ill remove the cartridge and fill it resin and install a filtered tube in the middle for the output towards a stainless steel vessel for deionize water reserve and on demand..pre filter will save u money and ur resin....quick tip: use stainless steel or plastic that the deionize water come in contact with because it will erode or eat up brass or do a post wash on your plumbing and your machine.

    Miranda I don’t think you have a big enough water heater
    I’m trying to do the same things and it took me a while to figure mine out but the jist is that my heater wasn’t big enough. It would only get to 140 degrees at 1.5gpm. I repeat 140 degrees at 1.5gpm. Your washer is rated for 2.1 gpm and idk what tankless you exactly have but it has to be able to do high flow rate. My heater didn’t advertise it at 140 they advertised their heating capability at 105 degrees. This is very critical information because that’s what most heaters are basing their stats off of.
    To get that 140 degrees at 2-2.5 gpm you need a big boy heater.
    I’m getting a power washer that can handle that heat that does 1.5 gpm because my heater can only do 1.5 for the temperature I want.
    I hope this helps Phil we met on a zoom call on the monthly qna with detail wise

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. Really? Mine is a whole house tankless heater. It totally heats the water sufficiently. I don’t need it to be 140 degrees when it reaches the gun. It still keeps everything warm and when in use I can feel the water temp as it hits the paint. It’s not a true steam pressure washer but it’s perfect for detailing. If someone wanted truly HOT water for their pressure washer they would totally need a bigger tankless heater.

    • @gregfeatherston1618
      @gregfeatherston1618 2 роки тому +1

      @@MirandaDetailing yes mine will do a whole house the flow rate out of the shower or fosset isn’t 2gpm that’s why it’ll heat up like it should
      Or you could adjust the flow rate going out of the water heater
      That’s what I had to do because my flow rate out of the heater before I adjusted it was 3.8 gpm
      How hot is your water getting rn what temperature out the gun?

    nice DI set up. A question though. You are running both DI and well water through the same pressure washer and pressure hose. Are you concerned about any residual minerals that are in the hose contaminating your di water? it would be interesting to see the ppm reading from your pressure washer hose out with and w/o di.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks. Good question. The only lines that may have residual minerals would be the pressure washer itself and hose. That would quickly run through in a few seconds. So as we rinse it cleans the lines and it’s fine. It would be extremely minimal if anything. But good thinking!

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 роки тому +3

      The directions that came with the meter give a chart to read out the numbers.
      If the water was 920 and extremely hard we would be having major problems when washing and our appliances, sinks and showers would also be showing signs of hard water. But that’s not the case.
