Hey Konrad I just found your video. I bought two CBOX units and both have issues. The first one was used via Ebay and it only booted a few times and now goes to a black screen after some garbage on screen for a second. I recapped it and resoldered a damaged component on the bottom but it made no difference. Im thinking the BIOS may have gone bad. So I bought a second one brand new direct from Time Harvest via AliExpress. That one worked great for a few days, then games started to crash or not run correctly. The hardware test revealed a work ram error. This one has the supergun andI found that the voltage pot was set to the higher voltage by default and suspect that may have damaged the RAM. Also the fuse was blown on this one and someone had bypassed it by wrapping the fuse holder pegs with thin wire. That wire also was coming loose and touching other things and was uninsulated so that is no good at all. I removed all that and cleaned up corrosion bit am waiting on replacement ram to be delivered. The CBOX was great for those few days but right now, very frustrating to have two broken MVS systems and nothing working. I was going to install a batter too but was going to use the LIR2032 type. Will check for the resistor on the bottom first. Thanks for your contributions - I searched for a while when trying to troubleshoot these two systems and it was it easy to find good information. Your video and comments you posted on that BitchinBits blog were very helpful (and led me to this video)
Sorry just saw this, highly unusual that 2 failed on you. I had 2 and both worked fine, the errors are due to bad ram.and the other sounds like the watchdog error. Essentially it's 2 dead legit SNK motherboards, very strange. Would it maybe be a power issue or a bad cart damaging your systems? Maybe a dodgy multi cart in 1 perhaps? I had the opposite experience to you tbh.
Hey Konrad. where do you purchase you MVS Shock Boxes & Inserts? I'm looking Xeno Crisis & Samurai Shodown V Perfect MVS sized inserts like you have. PLEASE let me know. thx
Hey Konrad, this is the NerdyBros from the "Ode to Arcades" site. That looks awesome. I think mine also has the L/R channels switched over. What is the DFO? I ordered a replacement board per your recommendation. I'm obsessed with getting the battery to work. I wish I knew what they did to my original board so I could undo it. I finally got a NeoBiosMasta, so I might be able to save the board I bricked.
How did you end up with your board? DFO dual frequency oscillator gives a proper spec signal out of the board to get rid of incompatibility with scalers
