  • 1. 1 My heart has found a ready theme,
    A song of sweet composing;
    My tongue a pen to praise the King
    With praises never ending.
    2 And You, the King,
    Are far more fair
    Than all the sons
    Of mortal men,
    And grace Your God is pouring
    Upon Your mouth and on Your lips.
    You have been blest forever;
    You are the King and blest,
    Forever blest, amen.
    2. 3 So gird Your sword upon Your thigh,
    O great Lord and majestic!
    4 Ride forth in glory and in strength.
    And in Your glory riding,
    Because of truth,
    Humility,
    And righteousness
    You conquer all.
    And in Your riding richly
    Your right hand teaches awesome things.
    5 Your foes are pierced with arrows,
    And under You they fall,
    They fall beneath Your feet.
    3. 6 Your throne, O God, almighty God,
    Your throne is everlasting.
    The scepter of Your righteous hand
    Sustains Your righteous kingdom.
    7 You love the right And hate all sin-
    So God, Your God
    Anointed You
    And poured the oil of gladness
    Beyond the rank of all Your friends.
    8 The spices of Your garments
    Are cassia and myrrh
    And aloes deep and rich.
    4. The spices came from palaces
    Of ivory worked and fashioned,
    And that aroma made You glad
    To greet the royal wedding.
    9 King’s daughters were
    Among the maids.
    At Your right hand
    Did stand the queen,
    The queen in gold of Ophir.
    10 O daughter hear, incline your ear;
    So now forget your people,
    Forget your father’s house
    And take your husband’s name.
    5. 11 Your beauty shall the King desire,
    He is your Lord and husband,
    And you shall serve Him all your days,
    With gladness you shall worship.
    12 A gift from Tyre
    Her daughter brings,
    And so the rich
    Entreat you now;
    They bring to you petitions.
    13 A daughter to the King is here
    And golden is her clothing,
    Embroidered here with gold,
    Embroidered now with care.
    6. 14 And she is ushered to the King
    In bright and glorious raiment
    And all her bridesmaids follow her
    15 With gladness and rejoicing.
    And they shall come
    Within the gates,
    The palace gates,
    To see the King.
    So do not mourn or sorrow,
    16 To fill the place your fathers left
    Your children shall be princes,
    17 And I will magnify
    Your name forevermore.
