I had a similar conversation with my brother.
    Him: God created it all
    Me: How?
Him: What do you mean How?
Me: How did he create it all?
    Him: He's God.
Me: So Bob created it all then.
    Him: Who's Bob?
    Me: The creator.
Him: What? How did he do it then?
    Me: He's Bob.
Him: That doesn't answer the question.
    Me: Exactly.

I don't take anything or anyone at their word, as if it were an absolute. It’s actually not that far off, if you imagine a random video being sent to the detective in charge of the case. We don’t know where it came from, we don’t know if it shows events that actually happened, we don’t know who’s in the video. Without outside verification, a video’s just a film that could easily be the same place on a different day, a staged event (as in your example), or a different location entirely.
My point is that your spit take was justified even if we take Eric’s example at face value.

"How" questions apply to any and all process we can witness or think of. So it is automatically the best starting point. If a "who" is involved, the "how" quest will uncover it. If it is discovered that a "who" is involved, then we can ask the "why" question. So, science is correct is always starting with a "how" query.

    1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
"this restores one's faith in politicians”
    2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

You know, more and more I appreciate something that stuck with me as a child. I had a fourth grade teacher (Age 10 for those outside the US), who told me: "The important thing isn't to know, the important thing is to be able to find out".
It's easy to just "know" something that has been relayed to you. But you only really understand it when you find it yourself. Applies to a lot of things of course. But with topics like this I find myself thinking of religion in this regard. Particularly when one touts about how their religion has choice. That someone is supposed to make a choice at a certain age to really embrace it. After a lifetime of being raised among it. Telling them that it is the right thing. That they need to do it. Do they "know" that it is right? Or did they find out that this was the right answer for them?

    • @hitomisalazar4073

Granted more on point to Hovind's content... I always find the framing of Science vs Religion to be a very odd fight for a religious apologist to pick. I'm not going to say it's a poor fight necessarily. Because it does work for them. Just an odd fight.
Because when you frame up Science and Religion head to head you're kind of splitting the audience that I see it. Science has a lot to offer. Very concrete, mechanical things. Exploration of space. Understanding of the world. The mechanics of all we know and experience, etc, etc, etc. While Religion talks to an entirely different mindset. It's based almost entirely in identity and emotion as I see it. The sense of community, of belonging, the idea of eternal justice in an unfair at times world, of rewards for the meek upon Earth.
So by picking that fight you're more or less splitting the audience. Those who value the mundane, the simple facts of the world, and gain strength from that understanding and appreciate it will never be swayed by framing things up as Science vs Religion. And those who care about the latter mindset are already in your court.
In this sense I have more respect for those who don't try to argue Science vs Religion. Because they're not just trying to reinforce the choice of the believers already. They are at least, theoretically, attempting to say "There are benefits to religious belief even while living in a scientific world".

9:20 : no it's not begging the question (that fallacy is part of circular reasonning), but it is a fallacy. The loaded question fallacy to be specific. It's done when you ask a question that, in order to be answered, requires unfounded assertions to be granted. Another example of the loaded question would be "who is the king of France?", as France isn't a monarchy thus has no king.
