I just bought a 2017 f150 EcoBoost 4x4 crew cab. I drove it from Ohio to Florida averaged 24 mpg. I love the 3.5. Do yourself a favor. Leave it stock. As far as the engine goes. That 3.5 will last forever. My dad has a 2014 EcoBoost with 268,000 miles . No engine or transmission problems. Towing is no problem. I've hauled 4 ton of gravel with mine with no issues. I hauled my buddies mud truck that weighs about 6 tons no issues
Good luck on the new truck. You are a real classy guy. You never knock anyone’s choices or thoughts, but confidently make your own choices. Much respect to you.
I'm so happy you love your new truck I've owned my 2014 Ford f150 3.5 ecoboost for 3 months and I'm inlove with it my 2014 f150 3.5 twin turbo ecoboost is a 4 Dr 4x4 platinum with the Mac tow package I have the towing capacity of 11,300 lbs if you have the max tow package you will have the same towing amount because the 2nd gen 3.5 came out in 2017 enjoy your truck from another 3.5 lover
I got a 2018 STX with the 2.7l ecoboost and I just bought and towed a 64 galaxy yesterday and it towed it with no problems, only I’m going to install is the trailer brake on this truck and it did fine
I love the fact that Andrew is a former step son and yalls relationship is just as close as a blood son. He does everything you do. Drive a fox he got fox's get a lightning he gets a lightning. Get a f150 now he wants one. That says volumes about how you treated him when you were his step dad. Much respect for you man. Alota dads out here could take some lessons on how to connect with kids from you for sure.
2015 here with 266k miles! Had couple throttle bodys fail but other than plugs, oil and battery been a champ. Going to push it another 200k or so hopefully
Mamma Brew2l: "Oh hell no you didn't..." I'm still laughing. Truck content would be great for me at the moment. I'm working on a 78 F250 with a 351M, and my dad just asked if we should just engine swap an echo boost into it.
Leveling kit. Raptor grill, tune. Some down pipes and draggy it for fun! I honesty don't care what you do. Ill watch it reguardless. I support you and the channel what ever that may be!
Absolutely gorgeous truck. I love that dark grey paint and wheels and being that it’s a lariat and fx4 makes it that much nicer. A leveling kit and 35s will definitely set it off. I’d probably tune it and then leave it alone. Hope to see more content of it 👍🏼
Brew you got to get the mpt tunes for that truck! Just put it on my ‘15 3.5 ecoboost. The dyno is 408hp and 526 tq for their 93 prx tune. When I keep my foot out of it I gained 2-3 highway mpg. I travel for a living so the gain is accurate and legit. They have tunes for towing too.
These new trucks are nice! I rented a 5.0 4x4 and that thing took off, and even chirped the tires on the 1-2 shift. I was impressed! Not quite my 16 GT, but dang, it can go! Good choice.
I’ve got a 17 super duty that’s got the same cab. The cab is a game changer. True family vehicle. So awesome. I went 1 ton years ago and just can’t go back to 1/2 ton. Love the truck either way. My opinion..: leave it stock less some tires and basics and put the money into the mustangs. That’s been my approach and I havnt regretted it. Mama brew2l’s reaction made me smile. 😊
My neighbor has a silver one and loves it. We look like a Ford dealership between our two driveways... we have a F150, Edge, and my '89 LX. They have a '65 Mustang, 2 Escapes, an F150 like yours, and an Edge. 😆 Hope you enjoy yours!
Nice truck BREW2L, you will love it. Very comfortable, roomy, and strong all in one. I love my Ecoboost F-150. My first one was a 3.5L, my current one is a 2.7L. Overall the 3.5 was more powerful but the 2.7 does quite well for everyday driving with rare towing that I do. I have always wanted to try a Coyote but I have been told I would be disappointed in the low end torque vs the Ecoboost. It would be nice to see what a mild tune would do for one of these.
Awesome Truck! I have a 2012 SuperCrew FX4 EcoBEAST, same color as yours 😉 lol it’s completely stock but even then it’s fun as heck and tons of power. So much room for my family and we fill that truck up. Mine has like 180,000 miles and still going strong. I got a 2” leveling kit and running 33” tires, 3.73 gears and just kills an mountain pass or hills. It has towed a bit as well and does so well. I would say go for the stage 3 motor sports power packages with like a CAI, Exhaust and chipped. That’s what I hope to do soon.
Nice truck, congrats 👍. Got family with both ecoboost and 5.0. One has a 14' 3.5 eco, it's not bad I expected a little better. But quick. Next 15' 5.0. Quiet at idle and sounds like a mustang WOT, he loves it. Last, 19' 3.5 eco. Definitely feel the 2nd gen 3.5 power bump and 10spd makes it pull hard. 19' is quickest but 15' isn't far behind and sounds amazing. I'd get the 5.0. Cause fun fact ford's power numbers are on 91 and sometimes 93 fuel. So if that's the case 5.0 can hang just fine even without turbos. Plus when your kicking the shit out of it I'm sure the 3.5 eco is not much better if any on fuel.
I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 141,000 miles and still going strong and its a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK.
As far as I know under boost pressure every engine runs a "richer" fuel mixture. Turbocharging is nice for the same reason a 4 barrel carb is better than a 2 barrel. As long as you can keep from building "boost" or "opening up secondaries" on a carb you can get really decent fuel mileage.
If you post it they will watch...lol I'd watch it, my pawinlaw has one,its not bad, he dont like pulling small camper with it but he pulls it little further than your gona go. Do your thing we here for the ride.
Nice, liking the 2016 ecoboost, very nice, clean truck, you should love it. The shame is the lightning got to go, I know it nice also, just not practical being 2 seat cab.Just keep Andrews spiders away from it.
The instant low end torque is what sold me on my EcoBoost mustang as well. Not what I was expecting from a little 4 cylinder. I love it. The EcoBoost gets too much hate in my opinion
Love the truck man yes post some content on anything I just enjoy your channel also fun to watch... we have a 2015 F-150 with the coyote i love it and i love the ecoboost nothing wrong with them at all
Loved to see the Brew2L sign mounted. Lookin good! Congrats on the truck. I’m betting you’ll love it more and more. It’s amazing how nice they ride and the Lariat trim is nice but not over the top. The family will be really comfortable on road trips. Got 10k on my 2020 super crew lariat and it’s awesome on road trips and daily driver. As others said, do the 2” level its spot on.
I have a 2019 2.7 and it’s pretty quick out of the hole and tows a 18 foot boat with no problem The 3.5 has the largest towing capacity of any engine available in the f150 platform. So towing a fox will be a cinch
Nice truck. I say all the time, I’m a ford guy I don’t care as long as it’s a ford. I’d say for sure leveling kit, wheels and all terrain tires (I do like those stock wheels), and maybe a tune. With those running boards maybe ditch them and install automatic retracting ones.
Honestly I watch everything you put in UA-cam. I had a 2012 3.5 ecoboost and I loved it. If you do any vids on this truck I’m all for it. Love your channel.
you better start getting prices from Stage 3 Motorsports...... Go with 33" with Leveling kit, less of a headache. 35"s are gonna rub like crazy and youll have to cut some of your front bumper down by the valance as well as in the rear of the front inner fender. Nice color tho. Also, use a good named brand leather cleaner and conditioner on those perforated leather parts, like Wowo's leather Cleaner and Conditioner.
My sister had a 2016 2.7 and her bf traded it in for a fucking dodge. I pulled my fox and a heavy 18ft trailer with it just fine. I've never been in a 3.5 but I'm sure they pull even better.
I personally like reverse level. If you have heavy tongue weight, air bag the rear then. Tune for sure, not sure what else really helps without extra noise or creating lag. Intake and exhaust, like every other engine? Bigger turbos most likely move away from what you want. I'm a diesel guy, wife will get a Coyote just like that probably before years end... Looks really nice man
2014 lariat Like this one with the 3.5 eco boast he traded in it had over 230000 miles with no major problems with it ! And he has a lead foot this a very impressive engine they can get great mpg’s . I am not giving you thumbs down because I enjoy what ever content you put out as long as it’s (BLUE OVAL) content 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm thinking about getting one of these. I'm coming from an 08 chevy 5.3! I love pretty much all the new trucks. But these fords are beautiful and they got the power too
I'm not a fan 3.5 eco boost, mainly because I worked at Ford and the shop was full of them with vct and phaser problems but that being said they are great for pulling vs coyote they will make the coyote look weak when it comes to pulling. But hey it's a nice truck man. 👍
Great review ! I own a 2016 F150 with the 5.0 V8. I have noo issues with my coyote engine and i bought the V8 for its raw power and uncomplicated engine mechanics. 😊
Nice truck! My experience with 35s is they are to big and heavy for a 1/2 ton truck that doesn't have lower gears, they rub when the steering's cranked and the truck will always downshift and search for gears on the slightest incline or head wind on the highway, a tune might fix that? as for a leveling kit get a good one! with the extended shocks otherwise it'll ride like a brick. Just my 2 cents!
I feel like this is a right of passage, so to speak, for us Mustang owners. I have 2019 XLT 5.0 and can’t see myself without it! Great investment brotha!
Tune it and race the Lightning! I bought one in 2011 brand new and was one of the first to tune a Ecoboost. If you want to keep it quiet, id tune it and put a drop in filter and be done. A good Tune makes over 100whp and 150wtq more than stock, night and day difference. The throttle response and trans shifts are firm. I went with MPT to custom tune the truck. Loved it!
Why not add a few F-1 Fitty mods? Every car guy (and gal) needs a cool, capable tow vehicle (and trailer). In my humble opinion, it sucks to have a garage full of badass cars / trucks/ etc., but when it comes time to tow ‘em, ya (well me actually..) gotta go to Uhaul or beg your brother-in-law to borrow their trailer and Suburban (no disrespect to the Bowtie posse)…. So heck-yeah! Let’s see some F-150 content Bro!!!
I've got 2016 2.7 with tow package. I tow 24' center console boat probably 5k lbs fully loaded. Tows it no problem and my Chevy fan buddy says my truck tows better than his Z71 V8.
Make sure you use SN Plus rated full synthetic oil to counter the timing chain and phaser issues. Also a catch can is a must for ecoboost engines to help capture turbo blow buy oil. Will help keep the back of the valves clean. The 2016 has DI only so it has a tendency to have build up on top of valves.
Keep a very close eye on your cooling system! I loved the ecoboost until I found out about the water pump. There is no fail safe! If the water pump goes out it floods your oiling system with coolant. Unless there has been a recall or fix? I was looking at them until I heard about that. This may be old news, but just in case.
I do love my 13 Ecoboost! Just got done spending 6k on cam phasers. Just make sure your oil changes are on point. I'm so going to mod my 3.5 next year with a cold air intake, a 87 tune, and a exhaust system from jegs.
Don't get an 87 tune man come on the truck has turbos on it don't cheap out just get a real 93 tune. Seeing 87 and tune together makes me cringe lol. How do you spend 6k on phasers you could prob get a complete used engine with the turbos for less than that.
change the plugs before 100k....i have a '15...awesome truck, towimg up a steep grade last summer it started misfiring, right @ 100k....use motocraft plugs, if you change the coil packs, motocraft...dont use aftermarket stuff, these trucks are tuff!!!
I wanna see a comparison video between the EcoBoost and the coyote f150. Ive also heard that with a aftermarket intercooler and boost controller and a tune it'll really wake it up and be more efficient.
I just bought a 2017 f150 EcoBoost 4x4 crew cab. I drove it from Ohio to Florida averaged 24 mpg. I love the 3.5. Do yourself a favor. Leave it stock. As far as the engine goes. Owning a used car dealership I would say you found the perfect used pick up. Looks really clean, we sell a lot of the 3.5 ecoboost Ford’s. 👍
The 3.5 EcoBoost is a great motor - love it in my '15 F150. Love the color too man! Congrats.
Just picked up my 2016 2.7 almost identical to yours last month. Love it so far. Use it for work driving all over the place. 20+ mpg so far🤷♂️
I got a 2018 STX with the 2.7l ecoboost and I just bought and towed a 64 galaxy yesterday and it towed it with no problems, only I’m going to install is the trailer brake on this truck and it did fine

When I floored my 2018 2.7L for the first time, it scared me.
I'm totally happy with my truck.
I have a 17' Expedition with the 3.5 ecoboost. Love it. Nobody expects that thing to get out of the hole like it does. Congrats!
I have a 2012 Ecoboost with 127,000 miles, still running strong 💪🏻 You made a good choice
Nice! I just bought a 2017 3.5 eco boost with 114,000! How much did you pay? I paid 28,000, after trade in only 22,500
2015 here with 266k miles!
You can bet he is in trouble!
Leveling kit. Raptor grill, tune. Some down pipes and draggy it for fun! I honesty don't care what you do. Ill watch it reguardless. I support you and the channel what ever that may be!
I've got one that's a 2014 2wd and pulls my foxbody back and forth to the track like it's not even behind. Absolutely love mine
Bad ass truck!!! Bring on the eco boost content
Absolutely gorgeous truck. I love that dark grey paint and wheels and being that it’s a lariat and fx4 makes it that much nicer. A leveling kit and 35s will definitely set it off. I’d probably tune it and then leave it alone. Hope to see more content of it 👍🏼
Down pipe blow off valve tuning yes we want it all I’ll watch whatever you post honestly
I love my ecoboost 19 Raptor. Haven’t been beat by a coyote truck yet.
My goodness @Brew2L do you even sleep?!?! The content and work never slows!! 💪🤜🤛
Not much LOL
Brew you got to get the mpt tunes for that truck! Just put it on my ‘15 3.5 ecoboost. The dyno is 408hp and 526 tq for their 93 prx tune. When I keep my foot out of it I gained 2-3 highway mpg. I travel for a living so the gain is accurate and legit. They have tunes for towing too.
Make sure you download ForScan...you can change certain features by going into APIM, BCM and ECM. You will.like it!
These new trucks are nice! I rented a 5.0 4x4 and that thing took off, and even chirped the tires on the 1-2 shift. I was impressed! Not quite my 16 GT, but dang, it can go! Good choice.

Mama brew2l’s reaction made me smile. 😊
I was definitely surprised.😵
My neighbor has a silver one and loves it. We look like a Ford dealership between our two driveways... we have a F150, Edge, and my '89 LX. They have a '65 Mustang, 2 Escapes, an F150 like yours, and an Edge. 😆

Damn LOL
Brew2L. I just drove a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT back from Arlington, Texas Memorial Day. Bone stock and she gets a 0-60 in 5.1 seconds.
Drop in filter and a tuner from 5 star tuning and helper airbags for the rear when loads get heavy you will love it
I watch everything you post
I appreciate you
I've got those MaxLiner floor mats in my daily (2015 Escape), and love them. That fitment is perfect!
Look at that! Sweet ride man. Great truck
Nice truck BREW2L, you will love it. Very comfortable, roomy, and strong all in one. I love my Ecoboost F-150. My first one was a 3.5L, my current one is a 2.7L. Nice Truck Man!!
Good Looking Mustang Behind It As Well!!
I love my 14 ecoboost. We tow camper that is fully loaded at 8200 with no issues.
Congratulations... Beautiful truck!
Did a 5 star 93 tune, upgraded intercooler, cold air and 100 shot nitrous on a buddies 19 raptor and it's ridiculous fast.
Awesome Truck! I have a 2012 SuperCrew FX4 EcoBEAST, same color as yours 😉 lol it’s completely stock but even then it’s fun as heck and tons of power. Having a feeling you going to wish you got a coyote when the turbos start their mess
He made it clear that he was aware of common ecoboost problems. If they tear up then he will fix them
I know I've been tossing up the idea as well not sure yet!!
Nice truck, congrats 👍. Got family with both ecoboost and 5.0. One has a 14' 3.5 eco, it's not bad I expected a little better. But quick. Next 15' 5.0.
Congratulations man! I love my 16 F150 and My Fox together!
I’ve got a leveling kit on mine with 33s and it looks and drives great
Nice truck brother, congrats!!! Def a great tow rig/family hauler 👍👍👍
If you post it they will watch...lol I'd watch it, my pawinlaw has one,its not bad, he dont like pulling small camper with it but he pulls it little further than your gona go. Do your thing we here for the ride.
I love your excitement. I am getting a 3.5 ecoboost awd transit pretty stoked :)
Nice, liking the 2016 ecoboost, very nice, clean truck, you should love it. The shame is the lightning got to go,
I know it nice also, just not practical being 2 seat cab.Just keep Andrews spiders away from it.
I know right lol
The instant low end torque is what sold me on my EcoBoost mustang as well. Not what I was expecting from a little 4 cylinder. I love it. The EcoBoost gets too much hate in my opinion
Because it's a muscle car without the muscle.
Good to know 👍 thanks brother
Best looking wheels on those, in my opinion. Nice truck, brother.
Nice truck. I say all the time, I’m a ford guy I don’t care as long as it’s a ford. I’d say for sure leveling kit, wheels and all terrain tires (I do like those stock wheels), and maybe a tune. With those running boards maybe ditch them and install automatic retracting ones.
Love my 2018 5.0 F150. With the 3.73’s it gets up and goes pretty good.
Maybe take a look at the latest ford F150 recalls . Ford states the steering gearbox locks up while driving ..
Honestly I watch everything you put in UA-cam. I had a 2012 3.5 ecoboost and I loved it. If you do any vids on this truck I’m all for it. Love your channel.
you better start getting prices from Stage 3 Motorsports...... Nice color tho. Also, use a good named brand leather cleaner and conditioner on those perforated leather parts, like Wowo's leather Cleaner and Conditioner.
Love my 2020 3.5 twin turbo ! Power and good mpg👍
You should definitely get a tune dude, so worth it
My sister had a 2016 2.7 and her bf traded it in for a fucking dodge. I pulled my fox and a heavy 18ft trailer with it just fine. I've never been in a 3.5 but I'm sure they pull even better.
I bought a '17 EcoBoost and love it ! It's pretty beast really !
Firestone Ride Rite air bag kit. You'll love them for towing, and load leveling capabilities.
Looks really nice man
You WILL see a huge difference with an intake and tune it completely changes the temperament of the truck so that would be a good investment
My Ford Transit van has a 3.5 EcoBoost engine. 310 hp and a 2016. I've driven it from Charleston SC to Quartzsite Arizona camping.

I will miss the lightening I always wanted one it will b sad to c it go. Wish I could buy it!But it’s understandable y u got it. Enjoy it
Man you beat me to a new 3.5 lol the prices on used trucks or unbelievable but I'm not giving up yet .
I'll watch whatever content you put out!
Great review ! I own a 2016 F150 with the 5.0 V8. I have noo issues with my coyote engine and i bought the V8 for its raw power and uncomplicated engine mechanics. 😊
That v8 is a complicated engine
The eco boost is not bad. I have it in my 2010 Ford Flex. Any truck content you want to post is Ok by me!👍🏽
went 6” lift & lots of mods. trucks bad ass. tuned really woke it up
Talk more about that nice black GT too. Fired my new engine up yesterday, sounds way different then the clapped out engine I took out.
Will do, congratulations on the first fire 🔥
I love my F150 Ecoboost more than my Mustang now.
I feel like this is a right of passage, so to speak, for us Mustang owners. I have 2019 XLT 5.0 and can’t see myself without it! Great investment brotha!

Do what makes you happy Brew. I'll watch if you do content on it. But won't be disappointed if you don't. Congrats on the new truck.
Hey brother it's a Ford upgrade or not I'm happy thx for the content keep up the great work 👏
I would leave it mostly stock. Tune it as far as you can but I think it would be cool to see what they can do mostly stock.
My brother has one... but man, nothing but problems.. both turbos leaking, rotors warped.. and still losing coolant somewhere
Does your brother have a 2.7 engine?
@@TheIncredibleHoosier 3.5
Brother I will watch whatever you put out
If you have any extra lightning wheels feel free to send them my way lol 😆
I've got 2016 2.7 with tow package. I tow 24' center console boat probably 5k lbs fully loaded. Tows it no problem and my Chevy fan buddy says my truck tows better than his Z71 V8.
Nice truck I always like the 3.5 when when I work at ford dealership just be aware they do have some cam phaser and timing chain issues though
@@stacystanley262 the 2016 has dual injection to keep the valves clean
I like my 3.5 F150. I believe you will enjoy it.
Would like to see a tune on the truck and seeing what kind of reliable power you can get out of it
A lot out of a basic 93 or 87 tune
🤔Would ya just look at that GT. I love the new truck too man!
That's on front wheel drive versions of the 3.5
@@brianmowder5006 Brain is correct all the F150 water pumps are mounted outside of the engine.
I went with a 2 inch leveling kit and not a 2.5, it fits perfectly. 2.5 would have made it squat in the rear
Just not changing my oil offen. I learned my lesson. I can get a 93 octane for race times at the track.
Awesome beautiful truck. All you need is a Ford Motorsports tune.
change the plugs before 100k....i have a '15...awesome truck, towimg up a steep grade last summer it started misfiring, right @ 100k....use motocraft plugs, if you change the coil packs, motocraft...dont use aftermarket stuff, these trucks are tuff!!!
Nice truck just do what you do and put your spin on it make it yours and it will be fun to watch
I wanna see a comparison video between the EcoBoost and the coyote f150. Ive also heard that with a aftermarket intercooler and boost controller and a tune it'll really wake it up and be more efficient.
I would like to see a dyno without and with a good tune
This^
Nice tow rig! After the lift and tires add a light bar and i would be done with it. Maybe budget sound upgrade and dark tint and thats it
Leveling kit, 35’s, raptor grille, towing improvement & performance mods
Keep an eye on the coolant level with the 3.5. Nice truck!! Hate the engine noises through the speakers lol
Yep love mine 2018 3.5 ecoboost it gets good milage and plenty of power. High test fuel and non ethanol work better. Getting a tune soon.
