Hello, a reminder that I check these out blind and have no idea what's a correct phase / M / interlink whatever lol. I'm just checking out the music, so focusing on the context I don't have is unnecessary and doesn't change my opinion on listening to something. People send me what they send me, I can't possibly know every submission and it's history. Stay dapper.
I think the main reason people are mentioning it this time is that the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 OST right now is kind of a mess lol. Some of the battle themes change dynamically during battle so you got a lot of videos that are like, half of the song in a way. Just strictly OST speaking, the M versions of the Moebius song are meant to be listened together, apart from the rest of the Moebius battle songs. The actual OST doesn't come out until the end of July so until then trying to listen to some of the battle songs can tricky. What happened here is sort of like, listening to the first half of an arranged version of a song, then skipping to the OST version of it to listen to the second half lol. Some videos combine different parts to make it feel more complete but it's up to interpretation until the official OST releases. Of course, your videos rock either way and it's probably more interesting to hear your take with the parts mixed up lol. Definitely a unique way to experience it!
Well if you ever get around to playing 3 just remember that Flute version of the OST is simultaneously the biggest and most subtle foreshadowing for the emotional avalanche the game's going to spend the next hour and a half riding you through like some kind of unwitting meat taboggan.
As some of the other comments have noted, the Phase 1 you first listened to was from the "Moebius M Battle" suite, since it's a specific variant of the normal Moebius Battle theme that appears throughout the game. This one definitely hits harder in-game when it appears as you're playing, because NOTHING prepares you for the flute addition after hearing the normal Moebius battle theme at least 5 to 10 times by this point (possibly more, depending on how many sidequests you do before this battle occurs). As it stands, hearing it outside of the game without the context of the original song lessens some of the impact, because otherwise it seems like the flute is just unnaturally overwhelming. The Phase 2 you listened to was actually from the base Moebius Battle suite, so you got a bit of a mix-up there, lol.
Flutes are so important to 3 that there are gameplay elements linked to the dual protagonists' flutes, and custom made flutes were crafted specifically for the game.
Xenoblade Chronicles doesn't mess around when it comes to music. Even the slow pieces are 10/10. Immersive, heartwarming, Heartwhrenching and some, terrifying.
3 was robbed at the game awards last December, even if not GotY it definitely should have taken the award for best OST, and the number of fans of other contenders that said 3 should hand taken OST after the GoTY medley and Flute Guys banger performance just proves it.
There’s 2 versions of the Phase 1; “Normal” and “M”. And 2 versions of Phase 2: “Normal” and “M”. You got to hear “M”’s version for Phase one, and “Normal” for Phase 2. Phase 2 had 3 variants of “Climax”; “Action”, “Sad” and “M”, which you didn’t get to listen to unfortunately. The “Climax” versions play when you bring the boss down to a certain health threshold.
I KNEW this was going to get requested eventually YESSSSSS. This is by far one of my top 5 songs in the Xenoblade series. As a lot of other commenters have said, the particular version of Phase 1 you were given was a story-related version of the track, but the regular version, which doesn't have the flutes, and the Phase 2, are played in the FIRST BOSS FIGHT IN THE ENTIRE GAME
The micro cuts you note on the songs are because in the game many melodies for battle are interactive and has different phases and endings… I hope in the official OST we’ll get a smooth version of the songs… And about the flute, as many stated, there are two versions of both songs , one with flutes and other (the “original” or “base”) without flutes. Great reaction as always!!
one thing that's worth pointing out because of the hard cuts is that despite the game being being almost 1 year old by now, an original soundtrack of any sort of is only set to be released in 3 months So any version of the songs you hear is people who went into the game files, decrypted, decompressed and mixed the music themselves, which in the case of dynamic songs like this also includes splicing the different parts in a way that makes sense as an audio only experience
soundtrack CDs and records take a while to produce as you have to mix all the audio correctly and put it on a CD or vinyl without it having terrible quality
Funny enough there is 1 more Moebius theme and it's the base one lol. Phase 1 is actually a unique version for a specific character named M's boss fight.
I love the fact that the song itself is a battle. The flute represents one side while the choir represents the other, both sides trying to overpower one another but it still then harmonizes
Yeah this is definitely the most choir-centric battle theme in Xenoblade, or at least in Xenoblade 3. It really stood out from the other battle themes in that regard when just playing through the game.
I wouldn't say it's THE most choir centric, Zanza, God Slaying Sword, and Alpha among other songs lean really heavily on the choir. But it certainly is up there with them.
All you need to know is that there is a version of phase 1 without flutes and there is a version of phase 2 with flutes. I'm glad that you thoroughly enjoyed the two permutations that were sent to you.
The best part of the base form (not the M version, it has its own significance) of this music is how they introduce you to it. This just comes out of left field, especially when the tone of the game and its music to this point are so generally subdued and melancholy. Spoiler to some minor degree: It's the first boss theme.
@@marche800 yeah I think it plays the regular boss theme first and then the Moebius theme for the 2nd time you fight him right after the first time after that cutscene
There's a bit missing here. Neither of these uploads included the Climax portion of the song. But ironically, a good chunk of the playerbase probably hasn't heard that part either because a certain game mechanic is extremely likely to interrupt it.
I'm pretty sure that the reason for the strange cuts between each part of the song is because of the game's emphasis on dynamic music, where the music is segmented into pieces and then it had to be puck back together to form a OST track. I am really curious what the music will sound like on the official soundtrack.
If you search "moebius medley" on UA-cam, you get the best combination of all Moebius variations. I'm wishing that was requested instead, just so all of them could be covered.
The cuts/pauses between parts thing is just a byproduct of it being a game rip and the songs being a dynamic music which reacts to whatever is going on during the fight. The uploader didn't bother to stitch them together properly, those songs are seamless when you listen to them in game.
I love this song but I'm confused why you were sent the edit you ended up getting. The first phase is a modified version of the Moebius battle theme. The second phase is the BASE Moebius battle theme. So you basically heard 1/2 of two songs. You got half the puzzle. That's a bit unfortunate. The Moebius battle theme has ZERO flute in both phase 1 and phase 2. The flute is added in Moebius M Battle theme for climatic and storytelling effect.
I’ve been looking forward to Jesse checking out this one, it’s quickly become one of my favourite Xenoblade battle themes. The drums, the almost mocking sounding choir, it’s so chaotic but so great. The flute playing over the top during the M version, can be a bit overpowering on a first listen, but it makes a lot of sense and hits hard when it plays ingame.
"Its like a christmas song from hell... times 69" That pretty much describes this whole game lmao. First youre hyped and super excited once you start the game but then slowly descend into madness because it is just utterly destroying your fighting spirit at one certain point in the game and crushes any expectation you had for it (in a really amazing and good way). Then you regain your will to fight even more and have this bittersweet feeling all the time. And the end of the game just destroys everything you had left of your emotional stability and mind😭
Something nobody on comments have said yet, is that probably the "new sounds" from the flute you heard are because the game have their own customized hand-made flutes, 2 of them, the one you heard on the 1st song is the more high one, the White Agnus Flute; two of the protagonist have their own flutes, the woman uses the White Agnus one, and the man uses the Black Kevesi one with a lower sound.
I think the flutes sound very similar to those Japanese flutes used for a lot of Naruto music and some other Ninja-themed Japan-made content like Shinobi 3's opening stage.
yea theres another version of the song that doesnt have the violins thats actually the first version of the song this version is a special version called battle aginst "moebius M" bet yea man Xenoblade 3 has some real bangers
In my hundreds of hours playing XC3, I never got to hear this (phase 2) in game, that's because the Chain Attack theme has higher priority. Never even knew there was a phase 2 theme until someone pointed it out after finishing the game.
@@NuiYabuko Still majority of hard battles are spent in chain attacks. Honestly such a huge mistake they made. Chain attacks take an eternity and you'll be hearing it far more than the other boss/unique battle themes as a result.
The 2nd one is just the Interlink theme, which isn’t a phase thing but rather when you battle the Interlinked Moebius. Were you really in chain attack the entire battle lol
This theme plays against Moebius K, O&P, D&J 2 times, X, and Y. Quite a lot of times. So I really doubt you never heard this theme. Maybe you didn't hear too much of it.
@@rhettmitchell Most certainly felt like I spent the majority of time in it. So much so I consider it a pretty big negative for the game as a whole. I was also playing on the hard mode, so it would usually take 2-3 chain attacks to kill bosses. I like the game overal, but it's easily the least favourite of the 3. Writing is the worst, I like the characters the least, the story is a complete mess, the combat has the least depth and for a lot of the hero sidequests the cutscenes were just long... but not very intereresting. XC1 and XCX are still easily the best games in the franchise to me.
By the way, the second song isn't a "phase 2" per se, but a different battle theme. But wait! It also a phase 2 AND other versions for sad or hype moments! Yeah, Xenoblade 3 went out of its way to make for unique experiences on boss themes, with shifts on low health and victory tunes for every one. Thankfully Nintendomelody has medleys of these and they don't loop.
All of the moebius battles are aamzing, whether it's the normal one, part 2, or the flute versions. Easily my favorite group of songs in the whole game!
With the official soundtrack releasing in July I do wonder if the story DLC will have its own version. It is so mind blowing that XB3 has so many top ranked tracks to listen too, with each new game over the past 13 years they seem to be able to top previous OSTs. Shame the game can't seem to break into the mainstream of RGPs, people just haven't a clue what they are missing
In-game, this song slapped me in the face, grabbed me by the collar and hyped me up like nothing else. It's a wild time that makes you feel amped up like This Is The Most Batshit Fun You've Ever Had. But in a violent, deranged megalomaniac way?
Shame it wasn’t the regular moebius theme, as some already said you were sent two parts of two different “remixes” of this track, personally I like the regular one the most
To be honest, I would wait to listen to more Xenoblade 3 music until the official soundtrack comes out at the end of July. A lot of the songs have dynamic parts and different variations, and while rippers and UA-camrs do their best none of these are official mixes.
I have listened to this song before when I went through the ost earlier this year. This has a very tribal feel, like if you are fighting something super primal. The guitars sound great, the flute gives the song uniqueness for sure. The buildup it had was well done, lots of great intensity and hype all throughout. I like this one, quite the banger. The second one, the start reminds me of Duel of the Fates. The guitar riffs here sound great, the choir works well with making the song sound like the final boss. This makes me think the end is coming, fun chords throughout. I like this one as well, although my head is kind of empty due to being tired so I won't be able to say a ton. I do prefer the other Xenoblade osts more than this one overall, there are some stand out tracks from 3 for sure.
People made a lot of fun of the villains in 3 being called Moebius due to memes involving a certain terrible movie. Less said about that the better. A nice touch with many boss themes featured in 3 is that a “Climax” version plays when the boss is dropped to critical health. Unfortunately, in many cases people don’t actually get to hear them because a staple mechanic called Chain Attack has a track that overwrites almost every battle theme. So you often end up overshooting and killing the boss before the Climax section plays. Aside from the original Moebius boss theme, there is also an “Interlink” version that plays for specific encounters and the “M” versions of both with a heavier flute emphasis that only plays for the fight with the character of the same name.
Wait a minute, this first one has the flute! Its Moebius M fight, not the standard Moebius Battle version! "I dont know if I should be moving my head or confused" Yeah, hearing Moebius M version of the song first would be confusing. If you'd been given any heads-up at all you would've ideally heard the standard version of the song first. Because during the M fight version most of your focus is on the flute rather than the choir, and it shows with how his reaction was to the choir in Phase 2 here. But yeah, the standard Moebius Battle was used as the game's first boss battle- it was MINDBLOWING haha
Here are all the known phases that I'm aware of: Moebius Battle - used for most Moebius Fights Moebius Battle (M) - the one you listened to first, used in one specific fight Moebius Interlink - the one you listened to second, used for some fights and the Phase II of at least a couple Moebius Interlink (M) - used for the Phase II of that same one battle, also with added Flutes Two different Climax phases for the standard version, and one for M. Two different Finale tags.
Im late… BUT! They both tell you how the enemy is. at the start they are cocky in their power and the choir is “laughing” at the player but when you show them why your the protag they get serious and the choir now has a “battle cry” at quick succession. Absolute peak ost
Now that the OFFICIAL soundtrack is out, you can sample these songs on UA-cam without the ripping hiccups those rips had. There were several skips in there that are not in the real tracks. That's what a lot of those "Cuts" your referring to are.
To those who don't know: Flutes play a major part in the xc3 OST Non-spoiler explanation: In the war, both sides need to send off their dead, and they use flutes to do it. Flutes are small and compact, which makes them perfect for a battlefield. Thus, off-seers are parts of the battle, special unites that carry flutes and play tunes to "send-off" the deceased. As an added bonus, the flutes you hear in the soundtrack are the actual flutes in the game! They made the flutes if the game in real life to get a more authentic sound!
Wait, isn’t that 1st one Consul M’s theme? Not the actual Moebius battle theme? I only remember flutes playing during the Consul M theme because story reasons & importance.
I feel like the mix of emotions in the game might explain the confusion. I don't even know how much context to give because you'll likely play this someday. But these are child soldiers who only knew servitude. Now they're fighting against their former allies and people they thought of as guardians.
Fun little detail about both themes, Phase 1 is more chaotic because Moebius aren't taking the party as a serious threat, as evidenced by the segments in Phase 1 that sound like laughter, which is mixed in a way to travel around your ears in a möbius strip pattern. In Phase 2 the laughing segments are gone because Moebius is basically like "Ok, no more fun and games"
Too bad the song always gets interrupted by the chain attack theme in game so the chaotic-ness of it all doesn't even sink in. Fun fact about the flutes, tho. They are flutes specifically created for this soundtrack, giving them a unique sound. I recommend "A Life Sent On" for the whole experience of the flutes.
Everyone is making a fuss out of nothing, this is literally almost correct, the Phase 1 and Phase 2, except the Phase 1 just has the flute when normally it doesn't. That's it.
Yeah, sucks you got the flute version of the first phase as it sounds way better without it especially the first 30 seconds. Weirdly enough I think the flute version of phase 2 sounds fine though.
A shame they sent you the M version for the first Moebius battle theme because that makes it more confusing to see what the songs are trying to do. Moebius are the bad guys in the game controlling two sides of a war. They think very little of the people fighting the war and use them as pawns for amusement. The first theme is supposed to represent the sense of danger from Meobius. The way the vocals sound, it gives off the impression of a bunch of posh audience members laughing as they watch gladiators killing each other for sport, which is basically what they do in this game. The second boss theme though, it doesn't sound laughing anymore. Now that the main cast is showing their strength and their ability to fight back, Moebius has to take them seriously. At many points in the second song it sounds like the vocals are fading, as if the power they hold over everyone else is fading. Absolute genius storytelling through music, something Xenoblade 3 is a master at.
This song is goated. That being said, I do dislike those hard cuts you were talking about, for some reason those happen quite a bit in the gamerip xenoblade 3 ost. Im hoping they will change that in the official release of the ost
Some of the other comments mention it, but from what I understand a lot of the combat music in xenoblade 3 is actually cut up into a bunch of different segments so that the music can transition to different parts based on how the battles are progressing. It actually took me a long time to realize that was what was going on and it wasn't just the song coincidentally lining up with the situation lol. Anyways, the music being in pieces means that anyone trying to upload them has to manually stitch them together, and it seems like the one used in this video didn't do a very good job mixing it together so it sounded right.
i don't like Moebius theme as much i like the more symmetric melodic ones but it's not that bad maybe 5/7 for this I also don't really like vocals & quire in a video game, more over if the lyric is cringe & dumb

I WAS THINKING LUDWIG, TOO!
Shame it wasn’t the regular moebius theme, as some already said you were sent two parts of two different “remixes” of this track, personally I like the regular one the most
This video need an update, now there is the official ost from the collection
To be honest, I would wait to listen to more Xenoblade 3 music until the official soundtrack comes out at the end of July. A lot of the songs have dynamic parts and different variations, and while rippers and UA-camrs do their best none of these are official mixes.
Super cool is that this mocking laughter with headphones forms an infinity symbol/moebius loop (the moebius symbol).
@Jesse Has nobody asked you to react to that Tears of the Kingdom trailer's music the other day. I melted when the sax hit.
Wait a minute, this first one has the flute! Its Moebius M fight, not the standard Moebius Battle version!
"I dont know if I should be moving my head or confused"
Yeah, hearing Moebius M version of the song first would be confusing.
That first one was so unique, I absolutely love it. Holy heck.
When the bar cuts and ends it’s only because Nintendo Melody has bad cuts and editing
Here are all the known phases that I'm aware of:
Moebius Battle - used for most Moebius Fights
Moebius Battle (M) - the one you listened to first, used in one specific fight
Moebius Interlink - the one you listened to second, used for some fights and the Phase II of at least a couple
Moebius Interlink (M) - used for the Phase II of that same one battle, also with added Flutes
Two different Climax phases for the standard version, and one for M.
Two different Finale tags.
Im late… BUT! They both tell you how the enemy is. at the start they are cocky in their power and the choir is “laughing” at the player but when you show them why your the protag they get serious and the choir now has a “battle cry” at quick succession. Absolute peak ost
It was only a matter of time before this song showed up
Now that the OFFICIAL soundtrack is out, you can sample these songs on UA-cam without the ripping hiccups those rips had. There were several skips in there that are not in the real tracks. That's what a lot of those "Cuts" your referring to are.
Moebious Battle, omg!
Xenoblade Music is Godlike!
I didn't even hear these songs all that much throughout the game because instead chain attack was playing 75% of the time in these battles.
Some of the vocals sound like “please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me, I want to live” also the “I just want to live” before the hahahahahahah
someday he will listen to zanza theme
It was the Consul M version too, ah heck yeah
Now you need to hear “chain attack” from this game
To those who don't know: Flutes play a major part in the xc3 OST
Non-spoiler explanation:
In the war, both sides need to send off their dead, and they use flutes to do it.
XC 3 loves the flute 🪈❤ ~
There is also a climax moebius theme, that ends the song super well
Wait, isn’t that 1st one Consul M’s theme? Not the actual Moebius battle theme? I only remember flutes playing during the Consul M theme because story reasons & importance.
I feel like the mix of emotions in the game might explain the confusion. I don't even know how much context to give because you'll likely play this someday. But these are child soldiers who only knew servitude. Now they're fighting against their former allies and people they thought of as guardians.
True. It's hard to fully grasp the beauty of the song when you haven't played the game associated with it.
@@Leoo117 It's true of most things probably. :)
Yeah, man, you gotta revisit this one because you're listening to a special variant first, not "phase 1."
I think it would be really cool to listen to the new battle theme from the Xenoblade 3 future redeemed dlc
this song, omg
Hopefully people read this pinned comment, anyway great video man!
So many good songs, so little time
You gotta love the part when Wild Ride says "It's Moebin time" and Moebs all over the place.
without a major spoilers, the main hero of the game use a flute
Ace composed it they did Mechanical Rhythm
Everyone is making a fuss out of nothing, this is literally almost correct, the Phase 1 and Phase 2, except the Phase 1 just has the flute when normally it doesn't. That's it.
Listen time to fight from Xenoblade Chronicles Future's Connected
Omg you missed the climaxes of the songs, that’s fr the best parts of the entire soundtrack ugh 😭😭
This song is too good
Wasn't expecting it to be the M variant.
i believe this is a special version the flutes are not in the normal version also spoilers
That's not the Original Moebius theme but it's very good too c:
Absolute genius storytelling through music, something Xenoblade 3 is a master at.
golly jee willickers
Omg it's the M version that's so based
This song is goated.
He totally listened to the wrong version lol but thats ok because this one's way better
morbius
The first one was kinda meh, but the second one had me at the edge of my seat.
please *PLAY THE FRINKING GAMES*
i don't like Moebius theme as much
i like the more symmetric melodic ones
but it's not that bad maybe 5/7 for this
I also don't really like vocals & quire in a video game,
more over if the lyric is cringe & dumb
You should listen to 'New Battle!!!'
Moebius is the name they gave to the tasteless antagonists of the game
