Awesome job with the tractor bucket repair , I watched it yesterday but the comments just blinked. Great work right there Mike I really like the attention you pay to details ,keep going buddy. And keep it safe and clean. Jim Tree
On code vessel or boiler making codes on the one root test the first 1” and the last 1” of the test doesn’t matter that’s basically just run on and run off
Good explanation of those gauges and their usages. Thank you for doing the video, you are setting a good example for people who want to learn and or refresh some skills. Keep going and let's see some more videos. Thank you Mike, awesome job right there. Jim Tree
It’s not that inspectors ‘don’t want to see that’, it’s what may underneath the silica, no undercut or lack of fusion, that needs to be verified ... and bb ‘s, that’s spatter, not splatter, it’s spatter ... and that 1/4” weld size will be shown on the weld symbol as noted on the plans, very unlikely that the WPS will be available in the field but is required to be available to the shop welder ... I going for a coffee,
Need to do a video on cast iron repair video. Go back old school with oxy fuel and using a specialty cast iron rods with flux. Do stick ni rods to tig welding. Grinding cracks out and grooving it out to preheat procedure and post heat. It would be an interesting tutorial cuz not many people do it much anymore but it was a big thing back in the day.
I love this video. However please DO NOT drag a VWAC gauge on anything!!!!! That is a machined pinpoint edge. If you do so you will loose accuracy when measuring with the tool. Remember that passing a test may come down to 1/64th of an inch.
**PLEASE HELP** Can anyone give me any tips about how the steamfitters union aptitude test is? (Preferably from personal experience) mostly, what kind of math questions will be asked? THANKS IN ADVANCE! (Phila., PA)
Say What... That was the Worst Example of Visual Weld Inspection I’ve seen in a Long Time... The welder has to Know what the Weld size is Before Ever Striking an Arc, then inspect to that weld size. A 3/8” weld requires a 3/8” fillet gauge to VT for Leg Height & Throat this is Not a Guessing Game... The Flashlight Sucked... Camera Angles Sucked... Use of Fillet Gauge Sucked... Use of VeeWac Sucked... Where’s Red Beard ...
@@nde-mt2yc Mr. Tig started hosting Bob. Bob started going to Jason. Jason has shifted to him. It's called a smoothe transition- to get the viewers used to seeing someone, and quietly phase out the old hosts.
I think is an effect to speak without the correct pauses... almost a year without Bob and this guy doesn't feels confortable in front of a camera... I think so...

I saw you in the milwaukee comments, lol
Slagger or scraper works excellent at removing dingle-berries/spatter/BB's
6 inch flat head screwdriver..

That's a really bad light for inspection. Wide angle LED is best.
