No crickets, no nose-growing when he tells a lie and even no turning naughty boys into donkeys on Pleasure Island. Pinocchio's true story indeed.
Why did they not include Please Island? Did they not want kids to grow up to create cringy TF Fan Art or Fiction on Deviant-art?
About as true as the true story of Puss n boots.
and no torturing Pinocchio and if you don’t know what i mean it’s because the original story was pinocchio being tortured as an example to kids in the story
@@SitckmanWeegee625 What’s wrong with that? ;P
@@SitckmanWeegee625 I still remember the time the Deviantart was a good art platform for artists. Now it's Gringe Central for fetishes and inflation "art"
The movie that became a meme...
Anything can become a meme
From the person that made the infamous clip & line blew up on the Internet himself too...
How fitting that this is coming out on April Fools Day. ‘Cause the movie itself is an April Fools joke.
It’s not a joke. It’s a meme.
“I don’t know if I should apologize-“ Are you KIDDING? You gave us a most treasured and special meme
Agreed!
This won't get the seal of garbage, this will get the walrus of dumpster fire....
I feel like that's an insult to walruses but at the same time I agree with you, LOL.
Oh it's getting the seal of garbage alright, and an overall 3/10.
People don't realize that it was Animat who posted the tweet about Pinocchio's voice which caused it to go viral
it apparently got so viral, its actually mentioned in the Wikipedia article for the movie. Congrats Animat! You are officially immortalized on Wikipedia!
One of the biggest sins in this movie was casting Tom Kenny as Gepetto. My man deserves better roles
It really is a shame whenever I hear Tom Kenny in something terrible like this movie because he always gives a better performance than is deserved, and I know that he can do way better than a movie like this.
And yet, he still insists on wasting his talent on garbage.
He's also in Eight Crazy Nights and Elf Bowling. He needs another agent.
Tom Kenny as Dingle in Elf Bowling was cringeworthy lmao
He clearly doesn’t need the money, he already makes tens of thousands per episode of SpongeBob.
7:38 mat reaction was priceless.
“FaThEr WhEn CaN i LeAvE tO bE oN mY oWn I gOt ThE wHoLe WoRlD tO sEe.”

Ah yes. The meme movie of the year!
Just wait for the Cage to come.
"FATher, WHeN cAn I LeaVe to be on my OOOWN...? XD XD XD
This movie easily has the “best” voice acting in a animated film no doubt about it :/
The Wooden boy felt all kinds of wood
The UK dub does, The US dub doesn't
What about the grandma from Rapsittie Street Kids? I know that was an editing mistake and not Debra Wilson's choice, but still.
And you thought you seen it all. Here comes a drunken wooden Shore to prove you wrong while making your day! 😆
@John Cena if he was trying to sound like he was high on his voice.
If there’s a category for best worst film of the year, this would definitely win!!! This will definitely go down as the room of animated films. But I’m still interested to see guillermo del toro version in December.
There is it’s called the razzies
obviously
@@cheetahluv210 But the Razzies suck now
Although there’s no Worst animated feature category.
Oh please no. This novel turned theater gets enough flak as it is.
Honestly all the human characters looked so wooden that I didn’t notice much of a difference when Pinocchio became a real boy.
*this is the most accurate of the history of Pinocchio ever it's a MASTERPIECE*
Pauly Shore did great as Bobby from the Goofy movies, he's not that bad an actor, so clearly, his performance as Pinocchio has to be terrible on purpose, LOL. He probably saw that the movie was garbage so he made it even worse in an effort to at least make the movie so bad it's good and I guess it worked cuz the movie is memeable and funny for the worst reasons. XD
Paulie saved this movie as far as I'm concerned
He was good as Bobby because he was working with directors who knew how to use him well; he's not that great in anything else he's been in
9:16 Matt's dawning look of comprehension over what's about to happen had me doubled over laughing!
Father! When can I go to the movies on my own, I got this Pinocchio movie to see! 😩😒💅
*moviedussy
27:25 “Their names are actually just Cat and Fox, that’s it?”
Yep, that’s the book for you.
Also the book contained many other talking animals, including a fish, a dog, a crab and a parrot. No horses named Tybalt though.
Something I don't understand is the fact that anthropomorphic cats and foxes are considered normal but everyone is suprised by a talking puppet. 😂😂😂
What parrot?
@@userlolcom at some point in the books Pinocchio meets a talking parrot who laughs at him for his predicament.
@@miticaBEP07 There is also a doormouse he talks to before becoming a donkey.
Let me say something about that film. As a Russian by blood, this is not the country's best nor groundbreaking achievement. It made me confounded and dumbstruck that they usually make their films and series with optimism, care, time and dedication. In fact, Yuri Norshtein, one of Russia's prolific and influential animators and storytellers, has dedicated his whole life, alongside his wife and artist whom works for him, to make an animated film that is still in production for 40 years and they were still working on it! Russia's films and series has a lot of words to describe them individually. They are philosophical, satirical, witty, funny, heartwarming, tense, optimistic, bitter, sweet, tragic, charming, haunting, educative, loveable, beautiful, cute, down to earth, imaginative, fantastical, wonderful, deep, thought provoking and memorable. They DO NOT make films and series that they preach about communism. They most CERTAINLY do not. They tell personal stories and also adapt stories from everywhere else, even US. Rather it be folk tales, short stories, fairy tales, children's novels etc. Talking of which here are two recommendations that is about them. One is a 15 part documentary series called "Кто нарисовал нас?" or "Who drew us?" which it tells the history of Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian and Estonian animation. You can find it on UA-cam. The other recommendation is a website, "Animation Obsessive", in which it has a lot of stories, both biographical and behind-the-scenes, of animated films and series of the Russian animation industry. You can simply type, Animation Obsessive, to find it. Before I can finish this comment, I wanted to say something. Russian animation, alongside US, Canada, UK, France, Italy (both recently), a hint of Czech, Poland and China and also Japan were all apart of my life. I cannot imagine how I came about without them. That's all there is, there isn't anymore.
I love when people have stuff to say about their own country's animation. It's great to see people who can see the strengths of their own country's animators and writers and not just the US.
Might I ask what are some specific animated films that you recommend
@@cheetahluv210 Cheburashka, Hedgehog in the Fog, Blue Puppy, Smeshariki, Flying Ship etc. One more thing. If you decided to watch them, see them with NO subtitles. I want you to experience it without them.
@@danielsvetlichny5721 so I take it’s more about the visual experience
@@cheetahluv210 Not only that, but also for PERFORMANCE and EMOTION of the actors and the animators.
I know the question we're all asking. How will Guillermo del toro's Pinocchio ever measure up to this masterpiece?
We will know in time
I love how in the intro you're trying not to laugh while doing your true story rant
It's a good thing everything Animat says is true or his nose would be growing XD
7:39 that right there is the purest look of absolute joy I've ever seen
The fact that Pauley Shore is in this is enough for me to say NOPE!
Finally, the moment we’ve been waiting for…
Can we all agree A Goofy Movie is the only really good thing Pauly Shore has ever done? As for this, I say you should stick to the Phoenix Games version. At least it's funny.
So is this! Happy April Fool's day!
True that.

This Pinocchio movie is really giving me: The Room vibes, No,..I did not hit her.....oh hi mark.
All we need is a top 5 times Pinocchio: A True Story broke you. Like with The Treasure Planet.
The irony this was published on April 1st… what a true story
"Did he start out drunk?"
Yes! I'll bet you Pauly Shore had to be drunk for this!!!
And to think that this would've been just another terrible animated film dubbed by the Dove Foundation that people wouldn’t have even given a second glance at had you not put Pauly Shore's terrible acting on blast.
One person really can make a difference.
I'm Glad that this version of Pinocchio has to be popular on the memes
This feels like those Krampus movies that released at the same.
Kinda sad he's not doing an "Animat Reviews" on this movie. But then I realized it wouldn't be fair.
*No other movie would be able to surpass it.*
This feels surprisingly appropriate to release on April 1st to me
Here's to hoping the one with Del Toro is great
0:40 I know this is a joke for the intro, but I have to say it: that's where you're wrong: you have two versions with the ACTUAL book story followed PERFECTLY (although the live action one has a technical liberty which helps the adaptation to feel more realistic, tho): 1971's animated movie "The adventures of Pinocchio" by Giuliano Cenci and a 1972's live-action Italian miniseries by the same name directed by Luigi Comencini
As well as the Enzo d’Aló version from
2012, which is in English on UA-cam.
@@miticaBEP07 nah, that's too fast-paced and cut some scenes. But it deserves a review

If I had a VERY bad day, I just watch this so bad it's hilarious movie! The voice acting is more wooden than Pinocchio himself!😂
I like Pinocchio’s reaction to being revived “yeah I guess so”.
We were the fools on this day to watch the True Story of Pinocchio.
Instead of watching this, watch the Disney version. Or read the original, dark story by Carlo Collodi
To be fair, the Disney version is also dark.
Either would be a better experience
Or wait for the Del Toro version.

Even Bio Dome was funnier
I figure either A) he did his lines that way on purpose because he thought, “This movie isn’t great, so I might as well make it as meme-able as possible!” or B) he just didn’t give a flying fig.
@@karaoconnoraliasraidra I say B), the oblivious answer. Y'know how ungrateful and greedy actors/actresses are these days.

Pinocchio: A True Story: *exists*
Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio: "Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary."
Can't believe you ACTUALLY watched it, You definitely have a soul of steel only to be melted by the absolute cringe out of Pinocchio's voice, My boy Bobby Zimuruski (The guy who once questioned why everyone wears gloves) not sounding good anymore. Pinocchio having a love interest is not my Pinokes, The Disney one, Best nostalgic character ever, The DreamWorks one (Shrek) Actual representation of an actual wooden boy, The Lionsgate one looks like Link with two of Spider-Man's colours with a wood texture and is a teen, not a boy. And if we though Norm of the North was bad, OOOOOH boy, This is more crazily weird for Mat to handle.
7:38 Say the line bart!

You know, without looking at the country that created this, I had a suspicion that it was ours who animated it (Russians). And yes, I was right. It is this kind of shit that Russian film studios have been producing in recent years. Alas ... And I would be glad to say that there are good cartoons, but being an animator myself, I can’t say this. I mean what has been produced for the last 10-15 years. And it's very sad :(
Well...we DID get the first Smeshariki film, which actually was very entertaining, I'll give them that.
@@windindi2834 I meant full-length animated films. Series or short films can still be good :) But with a full-length film, everything is bad. They are trying to do it like in Hollywood or at the Disney studio. And you can see the result)))
@@user-ff9vc6we1n Oh absolutely! I was actually talking about the Smeshariki movie known as Smeshariki: Nachalo, which was a movie released back in 2011. I remember really liking it, then again I am a Smeshariki fan haha

This Pinokio's voice would be great for a D&D player character!

best...lip-sync...ever.
Even with the distracting animation issues, like the girl's 'gravity defying' hair, the poor acting really makes up for it. That and Tom Kenny's genuine performance is a nice touch. Also gotta give Pauly Shore credit for embracing the meme you created. It just needs a Leaning Tower of Cheesa and it'll be perfect!
And yeah, you're right about this 'true story' lacking some iconic moments! I guess this movie was too cheap to add the growing nose or Pleasure Island. Maybe the talking horse was a victim of the latter that escaped to Geppetto's workshop and decided to stay there.
This is my favorite AniMat video. I just love his energy while reacting and especially when he cheered at the meme quote.
Pauly Shore ain't Pinocchio.
DICKIE JONES ALL THE WAY!
His opening commentary about how no films tell the true story is HILARIOUS
At least this is "So bad its good" territory, i'm doubtful the 2022 Disney Live Action remake version will be anything other than just plain terrible.

7:39 the pure happiness when Pinocchio said the line has cleared my skin

This movie oh man. This was something bro, the skdskdskdskd, the infamous meme line and Pinocchio getting shot were highlights for the movie.
I personally love the Disney version and sci-fi remake
Sci-fi remake?
Wow!
That won't be last upcoming Pauly Shore and Jon Heder animated movie you'll have to sit through. Seen the trailer to My Sweet Monster?
As a Italian Pinocchio fan I have two thing to say
First: I've just seen the trailer, and, a part from the jokes, I would like to see a original take on Pinocchio's story difrrent from the usual stuff
Second: "Just the jokes? What about the voice?" I'm Italian, I can give all the crap I want if the English dub sucks. Let's just hope we don't make a Dark Knight thing in which we did preserve Bale's silly deep voice in the dubbing (yet, we made Bane sound more normally).
So this exists. Why.
Money
Money. Just for the money to cash on the upcoming films based on the wooden boy.
Can't wait for him to review this.
Omg! I can't believe I didn't know about this being so bad yet it's so good! That voice for the title character is the topping of the April fool's day cake. Happy April Fool's day everyone! 😆 🎥 🎨
That's Pauly Shore for ya!
@@avremirine8986 He's one of a kind for sure. That voice lol!
He should also check out Suur Tõll (1980), a short film made in Estonia. It's quite a trip oh boy!
Maybe make top 10 worst musical numbers in animation movies
Please mat make a review on this movie
Tom Kenny as Albus Dumbledore
Obviously, this doesn't hold a candle to the 1940 Disney classic, but I would even argue that it doesn't hold a candle to Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night. While far from perfect, Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night still had some interesting ideas and a heaping helping of the weird darkness that '80s family films were known for.
"I HAVE EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL MUAHAHAHAHAH" that line killed me
One thing I had to learn the hard way while watching this is that there were never any explanations for anything.
