I purchased One of These Old Town autopilot 120s about 3 weeks ago. I had a native craft manta ray pedal drive. Which I used for 6 years. I am an older man of 76 years. When I first got the autopilot I was very disappointed the first three days because I could not get used to the foot steering I kept reaching for the hand steering that was on my Manta ray. I did like having more room in the autopilot. Now all of that being said after I got used to the autopilot 120 I would not trade it for the world it is one of the best kayaks I have ever owned. The only disappointing feature I can say is that it does not have a real quick reverse like my pedal craft did. That is one thing I had to get used to and adjust to especially when I got Hang Ups. Other than that this is the perfect craft for kayak fishing. Thank you for your video it was well presented and well done.
Old Town is my company of choice when it comes to kayaks and canoes for that matter. I don't use a canoe near as much as I used to since I got my kayaks. But I had a predator 13 which is the paddle version I currently have a predator PDL which is the pedal version of my old Predator 13 (2018 year model) which I absolutely love. I'm 71 years old weigh about 230 lb and I have no problem standing up in that kayak and fishing without worrying about balance. It's a super boat the new lineup of Old Town Kayaks with the trolling motors are definitely the next big thing. It seems that most of the successful tournament guys are now using kayaks with motors. And I think Old Town has knocked this one out of the park. I would take the larger boat only because I also like to fish the salt water which means that I can be in some pretty rough water. In a bigger boat longer bow wider boat you been make it through extremely heavy water with a high degree of success.
One question I have about the Spot Lock...does the motor engage the rudder when Spot Lock is engaged? Or is the rudder 100% manual? I could see the aft of the kayak spinning in circles while the motor tries to keep its own position.
Can't tell you how many times I forgot to connect the pull cord to the motor. haha... OK, I'll tell you ...3 times. This yak is a beast. YakBeast. The back handles are great. I do wish there were 2 additional handles on each side on an even line with the trolling motor shaft. Just seems like I'm always grappling around in that area for something to grab. Probably just because I'm a noob still but eh. Love this beast.
SOMEONE HAVE AN ANSWER? When you pull up the motor, does the prop automatically position itself to slip through the access hole? I have a pedal drive and when I bring it up I have to stick my hand down here to turn the prop so I can pull it through the hole… I don’t really want to stick my hand next to a motorized prop. lol
Can you do a Kayak comparison between the new FEEL FREE LURE 11.5 V2 MOTORIZED / PEDDLE and the OLD TOWN AUTOPILOT with Spot Lock? Great video! THANKS!!!
I love that kayak just can't do that price point right now. I have a 12' yak now im gonna get a trolling motor for it cuz i hate the paddle part to. But i have to say that boat is insane can't wait to see some vids on it
@@darienisfishin haha you're correct. For some reason I was thinking about the motor. But bass boats also have a stronger prop than what is on the Old Town.
I have a group 27 in mine for the time being. It is heavy but not entirely horrible. Also got a trailer for it because I'm too lazy to drag it out from the bed of my truck 😂
What was the name of the combo you were using because I really liked it I’m also looking for a new good spinner bait rod and reel if you have any Suggestions
At 4:56 it looked as though the motor didn't completely lock in and you edited out how you made sure the motor was seated correctly. IMO the most important part of this whole video!
If you want to save the color of the yak and keep mud stains down I would suggest putting 3 good costs of McGwires wax on the bottom and sides. Just what I did and zero sun fade. 😎
You can flip it if you go beyond the secondary. But it has a huge secondary so it prevents you from flipping quite as easily as you might and another manufacturers boat! Just my opinion and my experience having tried many.
Man that was an awesome review you did on the kayak. I wish they didn't make it so heavy. I like how the kayak has a motor on it so you can get to your fishing Point fast. That Killswitch is awesome too. Definitely you can say it's a many bass boat. You can get in a lot of spots that a big boat can't go. Hey man I got a question? I have to kayak barefoot👣 because I have very very wide feet 4 EEEE with very fat wide toe. They do not make a shoe that's wide enough for my foot to wear. I was wondering though sandals you wear are they great for kayaking and do they make them wide enough for people with very wide feet. The sandals look cool and I like the colors. O Is the toe Loop on the sandal adjustable or is it standard for a certain size cuz I don't think my big toe we'll fit through the loop since I have big very fat wide toes. It sucks man having very wide feet with fat wide toe because it affects kayaking. I knew it'd be hard for me to find shoes but not cause a problems for me to go kayaking. Appreciate it if you could let me know I would like to get a pair of to wear and not wear my flip flop all the time. This fat boy like to try something different. Sorry for being so long.
@@darienisfishin Chacos okay. I will go on their website and check them out. I hope I can find something that will fit me. Thank you so much man I really appreciate that.
It holds 558lbs. So my chubby self could fit in that dude w all the tackle I want!!😂. Visited the site etc. Do they give you a code for your followers? Love to catch up soon jj
@@darienisfishin You see built in fail points on many pedal yaks (mirage rods, Propels clips, and Jackson flex drive) Kayaks are often in much shallower water than conventional boats and thus the need for weak points to exist is critical. Im not saying its not a cheap approach, but that's a $3 dollar part to replace if you want something more sturdy.
Great video chief. It’s not a bad kayak at all, I think the price is a little steep... but being you get trolling motor with spot-lock and it’s wireless remote. That’s freaking sweet. Maybe we could get a DIF promo code to get 25% off the kayak.... just a thought. 😉 😎

Hi mate, just subbed, great review, I have a PA 360 14, love it ! Take away the trolling motor on the Old Town, you would have a very average kayak ‘ just think they could have produced a better fishing kayak platform’ 👍
Nice review just wish I could afford a 3000 dollar kayak. I think the biggest problem I see is I wouldn't be able to lift it without some kind of help.
It’s a cool yak. But I think the Pelican Bass Raider 10E (@$700) doesn’t get enough love. It hauls on the bed of my truck easy and can load and unload it straight into and out of the water onto my truck bed. Added a 55lb Minn Kota Terrova (@$1500) on the bow and a 2.5 Mercury (@$1,000). Add the $200 battery and you have a FAR more stable fishing machine with all the cool spotlock and autopilot control (plus foot control on tm too)- AND with the gas motor you don’t wear out your battery and can move spots faster; while keeping the small boat convenience for @$3400. In my opinion, it’s a much better fishing setup.
Even if you buy a used boat for 4,000 you would spend even more money for gas and maintenance that will keep costing you money. Compared to this kayak that you don’t need to gas up

The whole back end of the kayak is 👌Good video homie!
I agree big time!! Appreciate it!!
Holds still with 100mph winds? That’s awesome 😂.
This is my next boat. Just wondering how long a 100ah average quality battery will last.
Can you use this without the motor installed in it? Like if you wanted to go float the river?
The plastic nut on the propeller is made to fail if you hit something so it doesn't damage the motor or kick it up into you if you hit something.
what was the main reason you chose the 120 over the 136?
What comfy sandals are you wearing?
Great review. Can't wait until my Sportsman 120 PDL comes in. Going from a Pelican Catch 100 to the Old Town.
HAHA HUGE JUMP!!LOL
You'll love it man!
You will love the Sportsman. It's very fast and very stable especially one big water where other boats tend to fail.

That is cool for an over nighter I’ll give you that. But how hard is it to beach the ranger.
Most annoying set of comments Ive had on my channel yet!:)
How long will it go before the battery dies?
That plastic wing-nut for the propeller is probably a safety break-away system, for you don't damage the propeller if you hit something.
If that was the case, bass boats would have it too...its just poor design.
@@XploreAz bass boat trolling motors have plastic props

its plastic for reason, they want the prop retention unit to fail in the event of a bottom out- protects the motor.
