    This video is greatly appreciated because I know I was one of those who requested it and am still having problems with my Art-n-Fly water brushes, which are soft brown natural brush tip. I then purchased the Marvy Uchida one from Hobby Lobby and noticed the difference with the clear nylon brush tip so maybe that's it? Either way THANK YOU as always...I learn so much from you!

    i've used the koi waterbrush. and i dont actually really like it. the brush is not that flexible. so i think im going to buy the pentel aquash really quick. because im thirsty af for waterbrushes 😂

      That's the one I used too! It's nice for certain things, but I found it way too stiff for a lot of parts of lettering (like curls and loops!). The aquash is really soft, specifically the medium size! Have fun! And thanks for watching!

    When lettering with a waterbrush, do you still need to use smooth paper?

  • @mysimsreality
    @mysimsreality 4 роки тому

    So how do you actually prevent shaky upstrokes? Is it because of the brush you use or is there a way to hold the brush so that it produces better upstrokes? Thanks in advance.

    how do you redip in the colour and continue writing without it looking all weird? also how do you blend two colour together while writing a long word / sentence? love your vids btw!! :-))

    • @HowtoHandLetter
      @HowtoHandLetter  6 років тому +1

      Thank you so much! I just squeeze the pen quite often - just a light squeeze to make sure the water keeps flowing! I find that the look gets rough when it starts to dry out. And there are a few different ways to blend your color - do you mean with a water brush or a brush pen? With a water brush you can just get the brush saturated with your lighter color, then dip it in your lighter color and as you write the top layer will start to write off and the second layer will start to show through. If you're talking about brush pens - I have a video that shows a bunch of different blending techniques using Tombows! Hope that helps & thanks for watching!

    Heyy, Can you please tell more about the brush. About opening a new brush n whats the procedure next to hand lettering? I have this brush but dont know how to use like filling water and etc ,?
    Please help

    • @HowtoHandLetter
      @HowtoHandLetter  7 років тому +3

      Yes! I'm going to do a video like this soon because so many people as me about it. You can just unscrew the tip and then add water to the body of the water brush. You can use a dropper or just run it under the faucet. You just want to squeeze enough to keep the brush wet, but not too much because it can leak out the sides and drop onto your paper, which would be a bummer. I always try to squeeze more water into the tip when I'm not holding it over my paper. Hope that helps! But I will for sure be doing a video on this soon!

    • @HowtoHandLetter
      @HowtoHandLetter  7 років тому +1

      Thank you so much! I typically don't use watercolor for lettering practice because I go through so much paper, it would cost a fortune! I mainly use the HP Premium Choice Laserjet Paper, which is pretty thick and works well. I probably wouldn't use the Marker paper with watercolors because it's super thin and I'd assume would wrinkle a lot. If I ever do watercolors for an art piece then I do use watercolor paper so that you get the textured look... but the laser jet paper is my favorite all-around (so far!). Thanks for watching!

      Do you mean like liquid watercolor? I haven't tried a concentrated liquid watercolor because it's so expensive I think I'd be afraid to go through it so quickly! But a lot of people do use calligraphy ink in their water brush, so it doesn't have to be JUST water! Just know that it'll stain your water brush! Thanks for watching!
