Audi magnetic ride is a suspension technology employed in the A3, TT and R8 families. This system continually adapts the function of the shock absorbers to the road profile and the driver's style.
A synthetic hydrocarbon oil containing tiny magnetic particles between 3 and 10 thousandths of a millimeter in diameter -- one tenth the thickness of a human hair -- circulates in the shock absorber pistons. When voltage is applied to a coil integrated in the damper, a magnetic field is produced and the particles realign. They orient themselves crosswise with respect to the direction of oil flow in the piston channels, obstructing its flow. The process is completed in a few milliseconds.
The controller, which receives signals from a sophisticated system of sensors, continuously computes the optimal values for each individual wheel. It analyzes the driver's style and the condition of the road and adaptively adjusts the function of the dampers. The Sport button allows the driver to switch between normal mode and sport mode. In normal mode -- when fluid viscosity is low -- the car offers up a balanced ride. In sport mode -- when flow is obstructed -- it is uncompromisingly firm on the road. - Авто та транспорт

According to this,we can make the suspension more stiffer right?can we make it more shock absorbing???
This has no sound. Am I dreaming or does this system have sensors that detect pot holes and adjust at computer speed before you hit it?
It's magnetorheological (MR) fluid. The magnetic field causes it to become more viscous.
Not impressed with this in my R8. Looking at KW upgrade - anyone any experience / comments?
paredding I had in My Audi TT 3.2 V6 Quattro...trustability did not impress me and I am wondering is there any Way to repair this magnetic system or is it only Way to buy New Ones, everytime braking down. Now I have normal kit assembled by KYB and Works Well. Only thing bothering is that Audi system gives failure report on screen. Deleting by connecting with VAG unsuccessful.
Oh ok! Now I know how it works! So a tiny computer sends light out, to the opposite side of wich the car is steering. Then what happens is, that sensors can see the end of the road clearer and signal an electric motor wich activates a mechanism, where a bolt is screwed into the side of the shock absorber. This then stiffens the shock and everyone is safe! Nice!
If I was going to spend £900 on a magnetic suspension option for an S3 I'd want more information than provided in the video.
Does anyone have it fitted to their car, is it worth the cost in terms of ride comfort and performance?
Yes,we do have Q5 fitted with this gismo it works just like any other standard unit.at £320 to buy from audi or £275 from elsewhere since I changed it a yellow light fault appeared can't get rid of,so don't rush to buy one.

BSM1017CHANNEL Magnetic ride control aka Magnetic Dampeners. Same thing. GM developed them, Look it up.
Justin Smith i heard bose created it and gm put it in test cars to see what was the result but i will look it up and audi clearly got nothing to do with it

The research has been done from many times, please don't make statements like this.
I suppose they are using a ferromagnetic or magnetic particles inside an oil or liquid of some sort. When current applies, the particles aling and MAYBE make the liquid denser and the action of the suspension stronger... but its all suppositions, and I can be pathetically wrong on this, because it's a stupid video with no explanation... half knowledge is sometimes worst than complete ignorance ...THUMBS DOWN.
all you've said is the truth to this suspension system. the current do alter the density of the fluid therefore altering the dampening properties
