It's been a while coming, but great to see you out in the deep again with Shaun. Great episode. Gee that giro works well. I used to get woosie just watching the videos 😂
I love Shaun's dedicated bait board. Spent his coin on the gyro stabilisation and ran short for a decent bait board? Money well spent for the comfort factor. Well done lads
I’m from the south east of South Australia and we target gummy sharks most of the time, great eating, they are flake that you get from the shops that shark is 100 percent a gummy
Sammy mate, can you do us newbie fishos a solid? Please help us learn what a good screen on the sounder looks like for the fish you are chasing in the episode. That would help me and maybe others catch a few. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Shaun you silly boy! That was a gummy shark, extremely common here In Tassie and some of the best eating shark there is!!! Don’t throw them back if you catch one again!!
The shark you weren’t sure on id be pretty confident in saying it’s a whiskery, very similar to a gummy but had those 2 little bits in front of its mouth. Taste bloody good much like a gummy.
how do those WILSON ELECTRIC REEL work. they look good, one time do a vedio show how they work and set them up., u and shauno need do more fishing vedio, what size braid using
Can you do a video of line? And what knots you use between the line on your reel? Struggling to tie multiple lines together that hold. And how much to use of each line typically I can't find any videos that address this.
hey Sammy, that shark that you wanted an ID on, not 100% certain but im pretty sure its a Eastern Spotted Gummy shark (Mustelus walkeri) only found in the North East of Australia and they are a deep water shark, in the Smooth Hound shark family so closely related to the Gummy sharks we get down south. Do you remember if it had teeth?
@@SammyHitzkeFishing then the likelyhood its a Eastern Spotted Gummy shark are decent. they aren't a shark that is caught all that often and they are listed as Data Deficient meaning we just dont know enough about them. we dont know their stock size, max lenght or even max depth (one has been caught at 409m) or really even their distribution but its believed to atleast be from north of Townsville to south of Rockhampton, one was reportedly caught at coffs harbor but thats right on the end of the actual gummy shark distribution so it could very well have been one of them
Absolutely Gummy Shark South Australia’s favourite fish shop fillet the ,the undeniably great eating FLAKE and chips Better than everything else you caught in most SA opinions , ( sorry forgot to say you have to gut them immediately or they will taste like floor cleaner) Great show guys love the deep ,never know what you’re gunna get Cheers from SA
Any chance of getting a couple of shots of what's showing on the sounder. Just to give a bit of an idea of what to look for if anyone is just starting out.
My brothers shaun special technique of Sammy’s quote “if I’m coming up I’m getting more then one” he’ll load up 2 wait for the 3rd knock off the first 2 to land one for the 3rd 😂 A fair few good sources say those battarys wreck electric reels
Glad to see Shauno may have taken my advice, from the last video you two made, about getting a Gyro installed. WA law only allows for 3 hooks on rig, any possibility to purchase a 3 hook deep drop rig? Can't wait for the next video.
Hahah nah mate the Giro has been in the making for the last 12 months. A lot goes into getting one installed! Yeah I sell 3 hook rigs in the website. Or you can split the 6 hook rigs into 2 different rigs. I have a big restock coming next week 👍👍
You got big ones reeling up from that deep more than once. I've fished deep reefs and halibut flats around here that are "only" 300'-400' deep, after 5-6 resets I was completely done reeling up that much lead for that long. Twice+ that depth with likely more weight? No, just not happening. I like my back. lol
Nice fish chaps. That gummy shark you caught was what we call a hound shark here in South Africa. They get fished for commercially here and exported to some of your fish and chips shops in Australia
they are related but not the same, you guys get the common smooth hound, they dont get around here to Aus, we get a few different other types of smooth hound though. Also not sure why we import Smoothhound from SA when we have a large gummy shark commercial fishery here in Aus
@@comeatmebro3229 yeah I didn't expect it to be exactly the same make and model, can see it's part of that family though. as for why it's getting exported from us to you I have no idea, only reason I know about it is because of how it affected the movements of the great whites and bronze whaler sharks after the hound population took a serious knock from the commercials exploits.
@@jeffersonleroux1137 i know about ther hound population issues in SA as of late but one thing to consider is the increase in 7gill population, their favorite thing to eat is hound sharks and they can decimate a population, Commercial fishing has an impact yes but i would put a fair portion of blame on the gillers aswell. also wonder if your drop in white and bronzie numbers could correlate with our increase in white and bronzie numbers?
Thank the God you’re finally out there. I thought you got divorced and she got the fucking boat. Love your work buddy❤ from Western Australia
Thats Shauno’s boat

You are fortunate to have a charismatic and manly presence on your show such as Shaun.
He prolly doesn't have a girlish aversion to coriander even 😁
Cool, great to see the range

Gummy shark great eating we get heaps down here in Vic
Definitely a little gummy, glad you let it go if you don’t find many. Great eating.

Was wondering when the Hitzke/Whale Travel agency was going to start up for all inclusive fishing aventures....at rock bottom prices of course. 😊

Their called dogfish sharks. Here in the US NE Atlantic we get them alot especially when the tide goes slack.
We call the gummy sharks Smpothounds here in UK
Definitely should have kept the gummy shark. Haha.
Can you chsrge the assist batteries via 12v? Or is it soley 240v power from home?
Finally another deep video!
Hahah hopefully first of many! 🤞🤞
Tight lines ❤️
Cheers mate 🍻🍻
Gummy Sammy good eating lads 😊
Was a gummy shark and really good eating too
Eat that gummy shark boys. Bit of beer batter, a few chips and dinner is sorted 🤘
Yeah we’ll be keeping the next one for sure!! 🍻🍻
Noice Boiiiiiiizzzzzzz 👌🎣🍻
Calling Bonito and Kingies 'vermin' is criminal! I remember when you used to catch nothing but ballsacks and greeneye 😜😜
Woohoo deep sess !
It’s being an ordinary year of weather - great to see you out wide ! Yeeew
Yeah it’s been a hard year for weather that’s for sure! Hopefully it calms down! 🤞🤞

How good is the Gyro!
I LOVE FISHING
Me too!
Did the battery go flat in the gyro in the arvo?
Hahah yeah mate, the lithium bank only got install on Monday. Should be right for a couple of days now 👌👌
Nice with the electric reels - I get nervous every time I hear you breath very very heavily while doing using a manual reel😂
🤣🤣🤣 no need to worry about me, I just have the mic close to my mouth so it amplifies everything to the max 👌👌
I'd pay to fishing with you lads, much more productive than the charter boats.
👍👍
When the next 4wd fishing adventure collaboration with Shaun?!
👍🍺
Shawn is a good mate
He’s a legend 🍻🍻
What's the ballpark number on a gyro for a boat that size?
Not sure sorry mate, that’s a Shauno question 🍻🍻
sammy how big do flaymies get?
I’ve seen people catch them to 16kg before! So pretty bloody big!
you dont use lights ?
That bonito wouldnt have made it past the hour if it was my boat, he would be sashimi
Hahah yeah hey got the chop when I got home, same with the kingy! 👌👌
Smoke those kingfish and Bonito . They're delicious 😋

6 hook rigs? Whats next, deep drop cast netting with electric winches?
Not a bad idea!! 👌👌
@@SammyHitzkeFishing would be hard to throw the net with 1oz sinkers around bottom rope tho 😅
What sort of engines in this outfit??
Pretty sure it's a pair of 6lp yanmars. 315hp a piece
