Whats up guys! After like 1500km on it I can tell you few things about 1. Actually you can put the full system + akra ECU map and still use your indicators with a Relay or Timer on them, or just copy the Akra map on a custom ECU map without the limitations. 2. I've always been a black bike rider but all I can say it's I just felt in love with the orange-blue one. You can always wrap it, I want to do it like the prototype color scheme 3. I think they improved a lot the fueling, the consume I get with the cruise control its 4.7L/100km, that's insane! 4. The Quickshifter+ its a must, it's crazy... 5. The Bluetooth + ktm My Ride it's also awesome, you can see the gps on that screen + phonecalls so you don't need a phone mount. 6. Shame on KTM to charge almost 10€ for the app on Apple Store... Just k'mon, I've just spent 20.000€ on your bike and you charge me 10€ for the app? WTF... 7. KTM please, send me my heated grips, my dealer is still waiting for them after 1 month... So the bike it's really awesome, best buy in my life but the KTM service...
Im not too familiar with what a relay is or timer is/does when you put on a full system and work around like this. Would be nice to know what it basically means and does. If you dont mind
shapeless dreams It delays the power supply to the indicators for 3-4 sec when the ECU checks them so the ECU thinks they are removed, after those 3-4 sec the ECU already cheked them and that relay starts delivering power to the indicators again, sorry for my English I hope you understood it haha you just have to cut the indicator cable and put that relay in between
@@DrPOV thats quite useful to know, i very well understood all. Does that mean u have to time using your indicators on the road a little earlier i suppose? Not that it would be too bothersome but it just sounds like ktm wants to lose customers or something lol
shapeless dreams That relay has a screw to regulate the delay you want so if the bike won’t start you just have to put more delay because the indicators have power when the ECU does the check and won’t let the bike start. It’s really simple. I think it’s because KTM is very strict with traffic laws and that stuff so they don’t want to have not homologated stuff on the public roads
I owned an RC8 and RC8R at the same time. The difference was most noticeable power wise. The handling on both was awesome, fit and finish was great, as is the design too. Vastly underrated and will become a classic of motorcycle design. Still look current although now 12 years old already.
@Lucky Lushy I love a good 2 cylinder rumble, no matter the orientation. I don't like a straight piping, that's just annoying to ride. But so is that lawnmower purr. If I wanted a quiet bike, I'd go electric.
1.0 is still the best of the group. Looks the best, and doesnt have all the bs that comes on the new bikes. Pure power, raw and simple is the way to go!
Yes, I Think in a way, it is. More raw, better sitting position (more like a mx one). but, this 3.0 is smoother, has better balance (goes well with me, now in the older years I'm happy with this one). Had 1.0 for 7 years. And yes, cruise control is nice, you almost need no hands... Quickshifter could be a little better anyhow. And factory assembly quality seems to suck with wires. And, it is still a twin with rather good torque...
Finally a Superduke with an easy exhaust option. The full Akrapovic on this sounds absolutely beautiful, not like the old one where it’s just a bit muffled sometimes or waaay too loud like Austin Racing etc. PS: It looks really good in black ! The stealthy option.
you didnt say anything about brakes but you said enough to make me wanna buy one, as an old gt user now will got to R this will be the perfect light nice handling machine. it can commute , blast weekends , do track days, and even tour on.
KTM 1290 Super Duke R 2020 (3.0 man what a name) is a really cool looking bike. Love the engine sound to. It is aggressive sounding which is what I like in a motorbike. 😎🔥👍
Indicators do not have to be removed for the full Akra only disconnected. As the Full Akra is A track only system. There is a way round it with a little manipulation. I have looked into this as I have a 2020 1290 SDR myself. I didn't bother though and went for an Austin racing end can. Also I've been told by my KTM dealer that if you fit any other FULL system not end can. They will void the warranty. You can have any end can you like but not a full system.
The same kind of thing needs to be done on the 2020 Street Triple RS. The ecu is completely locked so there's not flashing it you have to go with a power commander
i've been following RJ for 4 years now, but i don't even ride bikes (I have driven 155cc ones but only a couple of times) as I'm a car guy. I hope you can travel here in the Philippines and do a road trip around Luzon, with your reputation, brands will easily let you take the keys to a ride of your choice
Love how theres instant power cruising behind that black suv at 0:50 and then just powering past it at 0:55. Im not a fan of ktm but this is a nice bike
Orange and Blue is a fantastic color combo sir! Of course you probably never heard of the Florida Gators and won't understand my love of that color combo. But great video and review sir.....very informative.
Hey RJ love your videos and how humble you are. I have just bought myself a KTM Duke 125 from Hemel and am picking it up next week. It's a stop gap for now as I only have my CBT at present. Hopefully I will be able to get my full Cat A license this year but it seems tests at the moment are few and far between. Hope to see you out and about sometime. Thank you for the great content.
I’d love one in all matte black with a few tiny orange accents. I’d compromise on the orange frame although I really don’t like orange or bike brands that use a signature colour because normally they are crap colours and it just feels lazy. Loud colour schemes also seem to age a bike in a few years. So, KTM, satin or matte black on black on black please and you 100% have my money 👍🏼🤞🏻😉
Not sure on the colour myself RJ maybe black with a slight cherry red in with it nice bike tho thanks for always sharing your video's always great to see you doing your vids, stay safe and well to you and your family
You really phoned that one in. And obviously you were lied to because several of the things you said were simply untrue. Its most definitely not an rc8 frame. You only unplug the tail light/license plate light while downloading the map. Then you plug it right back in and the tail light works as normal. The turn signals do have to be unplugged in order to start the bike but they can still be on the bike. A simple timed relay installation and you can have the turn signals back and function as normal. Also... almost every single thing on the bike is different than the old one, even much of the engine and trans. If you ride it back to back with a pre 2020 model... the power and how it is delivered is quite obvious. I dont mind the buttons on the bars but i do agree that the killswitch is way over done and looks dumb. The left switchgear is actually fantastic and functions substantially easier than the old model. The turn signal button, like on the previous model, still sucks. The cruise control and +/- buttons are just about as good as it gets. Dont hate on the bike just because you havent taken the time or put in the effort to understand it.

Hey Rj, i am shocked what you said about the changing the exhaust on a 2020 bike. Often i have a feeling that we are heading the wrong way (if you know what i mean...not just we bikers)
The part about the AKRA map is not true. If you look at my channel you'll notice that I have the new SDR with the AKRA map and the full system. My indicators are still working. Just for the people that don't know, you can tell if a bike has the AKRA map by the color of the TFT display. Edit: This was done by my KTM dealership (KTM Centurion), thus I keep my warranty etc etc.
Not with you on the colour RJ, love my orange and blue one, the black looks boring. I've come from a 2.0 and prefer the switches on 3.0, once you get used to them they are better. I've had the full Akra system fitted and the dealers now have a fix so you can have the Akra map uploaded and the indicators still work.
My local KTM dealer keeps pressing me to get a Beast 2 over the 3. I am sure he wants to move superseded stock (and the 2 is a blistering deal) but he thinks the 2 retains the animal fee that is sanitised in the 3. Will find out when get time to ride both back to back (which he is encouraging me to do)
I noticed that - and as an s1000r owner considering a change would interested to know that too. Every time I have ridden away from a test ride on the bikes I am considering (SpTRS, V4S, Beast 2 - yet to ride the 3) and hop back on the S1000R I end up thinking “I like my BM”.
I love the display that shows the revs, gear, speed,so simple and readable.
Yes
missing "reliable" though
