15Pro here. Bought in late November. 88 charge cycles, 100% health. Many days I use my Ultra 2 only and leave my phone behind. I think killing the battery and then charging quicker rather than slowly using the device is the true killer of the health.
I have the iPhone 15 Pro since late November and I have noticed a significant improvement in battery life and I am still at 100% battery health. I wonder if it is because of the 80% charging limit option, which I have used and have commented on, in my comments on a past post or more. So far, this is serving me well and as for everything else outside battery life, there is no problem with the phone as a unit, charging, or any defects.
@@Anton-oy3vm nope and it's a rather long story as to what I do after that. Actually, I could tell you through a few paragraphs from a blog post I did in my personal blog about this subject. Since I had upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro, I have used the 80% Charging Limit feature and it is certainly worth it. I use it and Optimized Battery Charging, together in my own situation. I use a powerbank to charge the phone to 80 if and when my phone needs charging during the day, before I go to bed. It stays around 80 and either tries to charge and can’t, or it drops a percentage or 2. Before I shuffle off to dreamland, I switch to the 20 W wall charger and another cable I had purchased for when I wish to charge the phone this way, or from a critical point to 80, or 100%. I make the switch quickly, so as to not interrupt the charging cycle too much. Anyway, after I make the switch from a powerbank to electrical mains, I go into Settings, Battery, Battery Health and charging. I then switch the charging option to Optimized Battery Charging and it does one of two things. It either goes right to 100%, or it goes part of the way there and it commences optimized battery charging. In other words, with the second option it does what you would expect it to do at 80% with finishing the charge at a certain time, estimated by the device. It has gone to either 82, 83, or as high as 87% and the result is the same. The phone will eventually get to 100% like normal, but it takes its sweet time to get there, while taking an hours long rest break before reaching the mountaintop. Also, the important thing is that it does not overheat the device and it does give a notification as to when the phone will be estimated to be fully charged as normal with optimized battery charging. The other thing I do is if I am going from the critical point to fully charging my phone, I plug my phone into the wall charger and the other cable, while switching battery charging to the 80% limit before I go to Snoozeville. When I wake up, I switch battery charging to Optimized Charging and it charges right to 100%. It takes about an hour or so, but it goes right to the top of the mountain, without taking a break. Either way, I really appreciate how we have more control over how we charge our iPhones than ever before and we should have had this option available to us since iOS 13 and the introduction of Optimized Battery Charging in the first place.

@@InsighterofTech yeah I’ll tell you this much, my 15 Pro is fine! Can’t wait for iOS 18! However, on the hardware front, I have no issues with my15 pro! Love it!
I got the IPhone 15 Pro shortly after it came out and a couple days after the new update came out to fix overheating issues. I love the IPhone 15 pro and the battery life is amazing. I can go a single day on a single charge. The camera is great too.
My 15 pros battery health dropped to 94 after only 230 battery cycles, I went to a service and they told me it’s quite normal for it to drop to 94 at these many cycles
I had it at 96% like a week ago after 245-247 cycles. Yesterday or the day before that it dropped to 95% and this morning to %94 after 252 cycles. So I’m not really sure if it’s gonna keep 80% of it after 1000 cycles.
i had my 15 pro max for about 110 day so almost 4 months its at 98 battery heath and has 61 cycle count the reason i think the battery is dropping quick for me is because i play a lot of games like cod mobile cod warzone or i coulf of had a bad battery. still runs amazing
I have the 15 Pro Max in Nat. Titanium since mid November (I wanted the regular Pro, not the Max, cuz the Max is to big for me, but my carrier apparently forgot or didnt write that down and got me the Max). Everything is great! And I use it EVERY DAY for at least 8 hours a day, mainly for navigation, talking, the work app and a bit of tik tok and youtube (I work at Takeaway). Basically the phone is used constantly! The battery is at 107 cycles and 100% life, but I dont use the 5G and its set at 80% limit!
Seeing the 11 Pro, 13 Pro and 14 Pro next to each other always makes me laugh at how massive the cameras have become 😂. I remember when I got the 11 Pro Max and I thought the cameras were massive then, now look!
Only here because you're one of the best mobile tech reviewers. Otherwise, the 15 Pro is too much like the previous Pro series, just like the 16 Pro will be. Seems like I will be sticking with my 14 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, probably will upgrade to the 9 Pro later this year.
Battery charge usage is the same as the 13 Pro as well despite the improved power efficiency of the new 3nm processor. 80-20% in around ~6 hours 30 minutes with general usage on 120Hz (~5h 30m to 6h on 5G, 7h to 7h 30m on wifi).
15 Pro user since 01/12/23, 117 cycles, 99% battery health. It’s so confusing to see some people on 150+ cycles and still on 100% battery health but of course every user is different. Great phone overall. 7:41
The bottom left microphone is prone to failure, and unfortunately it’s the microphone which the phone uses to record voices for recordings and phone calls. I had my launch 15 Pro replaced for free by Apple under the 1 year standard warranty (no applecare) and replaced with a brand new one by Apple in January. The bottom microphone is directly replaceable on the 15 and 15 Plus, but not on the 15 Pro and Pro Max (it’s fixed on the bottom board), which is why Apple just replaces the model with a brand new one if you need a repair. Other than that, excellent phone throughout. Action Button is excellent especially for quick voice recordings with voice memo. If you have a 13 Pro, it depends if you want futureproofing with USB-C or at this stage, wait until September for the 16 Pro. Plenty of deals on the 15 series nowadays which is unusual for iPhones, if you want to buy now anyways.
@@_SALVADOR__nothing was recording on voice memo, and when calling or receiving calls (standard and WhatsApp), no sound at all from the iPhone. Contacted Apple who ran an initial OTA diagnostic, then recommended that I go into the store to see what was the issue (they didn’t confirm anything). The Apple Genius ran a proper full diagnostic and only their diagnostic software in store picked up the problem, and they took the phone to check the usual water indicators and damage indicators (which were fine) and an hour later I was given a brand new replacement iPhone 15 Pro.
@@JTWALL100 my reply was deleted by the algorithm. Basically if you notice the voice memo records nothing and also the other person can’t hear you on the phone (standard and on whatsapp etc) despite full bars on network and wifi calling, then there’s a problem with the mic. If you have another phone with a sim in you can check that way as well.
I have participated in "What phone do you own?" surveys. I am always SHOCKED at how FEW people own iPhone 15+ phones. Most newer iPhone purchasers bought the iPhone pro models. I bought my 15+ because it had a larger screen than the XS but because I had to get all new USB-C compatible stuff anyway, I had to keep spending down. But, why was the 15+ so overlooked?
I’m guessing that most people buy with finance or on contract. Over 24 months the difference is only $12.50 a month. I recommend the 15 Plus for my mum. She just wanted the bigger screen and better battery life.
@@nebulainfinite1 ... my mum is 75. It would be a total waste of £300. Besides, in normal use the 15 Plus has better battery life. Probably because of the 60Hz screen.
@@nebulainfinite1 Point well taken. Just that I had to get all new bricks, cords (for USB-C) apple earbuds on wires and etc., plus a new iPad (mini 6) so I really could not afford to spend the $200-$300 extra, when all was said and done.
Do you still use fast charging?? Just wondering if you’re not really concerned about the battery cause it will degrade overtime regardless and not stay 100% forever
Have had the 15 pro 2 days now. Traded in the 13 pro max. I really like how light it is. I measured the phone against my old phone before I sent it back and it is really only slightly smaller. I think I am going to be very happy. Transfer process went well.
how is your battery life? I have the iPhone 12 and want to switch to 15 pro as I very much need a new phone and the battery life is awful on my 12 it will barely last 4 hours.

Release week 15 Pro Max here. First thing I did was set the 80% charge limit. I am at 100% battery still and only 80 charge cycles. Been a star in the battery department. I have always held off a few days before updating iOS just to see what others find battery wise but so far so good. Very happy with it! Am using a Nomad horween leather case and a Spigen screen protector just to keep it in good condition for as long as possible as I heard a few people mention the screen scratches a bit easier than previous models. Tbh with the screen protector you kinda want a case though as it levels up the lip perfectly plus the Nomad case is really nice. Overall been a solid upgrade from my Xs Max. Hopefully lasts me 5 years like the Xs Max. The Xs Max has now become my sons first phone and still going strong after I replaced the battery in it as it had dropped below 80% so was throttling max performance, €69 for a replacement battery at the Apple Store isn't too bad after 5 years imho and gives the phone another year or two of use rather than it sitting in a drawer 👍
whats the point of loosing 20% of the battery life from the beginning? :D , never understood this... 115cycles 100% battery life, charging as I need, most of the time laptop 65w charger , when I go to sleep 18w charger, usually charge from 40% and above to 95-100%
@@michalk.8285 If you find 80% charge doesn't suite your needs then yeah it isn't the right option for you. For me I never run out of charge by the end of the day when starting at 80% so it isn't an issue and if the battery experts say it will keep the battery in better condition for longer and doesn't impact my day to day use I am gonna use it.
michalk.8285 The problem with your misunderstanding is that you call it an "initial 20% loss". It isn't. In most situations this level of charge may well be enough, the user often knows in advance where they will be. And in those situations where more battery life may be needed the user will charge the smartphone to 100%, and this is where a good battery health level will serve well. Like an overall good battery health level for a sale, for example, is also one of the important factors.
I upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro Max from the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and this is the first time I think ever I've not noticed any quality of life improvements that warrants the money. Apart from the Dynamic Island which I guess is ok(?), there's really nothing else to show for it in my opinion, not even the battery is that much better. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic phone, but apart from incremental camera updates which the majority of people don't really notice at all we've well and truly hit terminal velocity when it comes to phone hardware.
That’s actually impressive, how did you keep it that way?? Others had different experiences with battery degrading too fast but most likely due to heat
15:25 well.. I regret buying the 15 pro max in the middle of March, all because my old iphone 11 pro max broke and never turned on again and knowing that the iphone 16 pro max is coming out around September I feel really bad 😭😭😭😭😭😭
My 15 PM dropped to 99% battery health at 26 cycles , then another percent around 38 cycles. This is after a complete iOS reinstall at the Apple Store and clean install of everything as new device not from any backup. Phone gets warm and dims and battery life doesn’t even come close to the 13 PM I traded in. I must have just got a defect but I’m not impressed. My daughter has same phone with 162 cycles and still at 100% battery health. I miss my 13 Pm…The 13 PM was the best phone I’ve ever had.
I’ve been using the 15 pro max as main in blue and has been great but recently bought the 15 pro to use as additional as a work phone in titanium. I feel I like the smaller 15 pro especially one handed and seems a little more fluid for me , only thing I don’t like is the battery as it depletes much quicker but it’s ok since I use 2 iPhones . If the battery was comparable to the max size,I would have the 15 Pro as my main as I do 12 hour days at work and do transport so they are used for everything including invoices, Navigation, texting, signitures and pictures etc
Got the 15 pro last Xmas and I appreciate it a lot, especially the camera. The least desirable feature for me is the edge to edge touch screen capabilities (offhand, I forget what Apple called it). I have accidentally touched it with the edge of my palm too many times and it constantly activates undesirable ads, apps, skips music, and performs many other unintended actions. Probably, the worst case of that edge-to-edge touch screen is when I’m tired and dozing off. I miss the real estate of the old phones.
I'll probably switch to the smaller Pro next year because the PM is too big and a little heavy for pockets when wearing shorts...less battery isn't an issue as I'm surrounded by charging bricks at home and at the office, plus in the car it can either be plugged in for Carplay or wirelessly run CarPlay...so not really an issue with the battery...this 15PM is run to about 40% everyday with MY use so maybe the Little Pro would be at around 15-20ish% at the end of the day...
Exactly why I grab the smaller pro each year. It’s negligible if the phones can’t last more than 2 days. It’ll be years before a phone can last over 2 days with heavy use.
I'm at 98 % Max Capacity with 129 cycles. I got my phone when it first rolled out. Much better then previous IPhone models. 5 Day average is 1 H 11M Avg Screen Active and 3 h 16m Avg Screen Idle.
Just got the 15 Pro Max yesterday. Saw that the 16 Pro max is going to be bigger and I I cant honestly imagine wanting it to be any bigger than this. Id honestly prefer a 15 Pro but the battery life on the smaller Pros always made me return them for the larger models.
Should I trade in to 15 Pro Max or wait for 16 Pro Max? And which pro model should I choose next time? Currently unhappy with my 14 Pro with 89% battery health after a year with buggy experience with stuttering.
@@Popgrenade-ml3tg Ok, thanks! And would you go for 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max? Since I have a 14 Pro but not sure if the 6.9 16 Pro Max inch would be too big compared to the 6.3 regular 16 Pro size?
After using the pro max for a couple months then returning to the normal pro size; the thing I miss so much is the 5x zoom. I wish I had it. I am using an iPhone 13 but will upgrade to the 15 in the end of the year because my dad is able to get it cheaper through his job. He has sort of a contract with Apple. Keep up the great work🎉
I currently have the 128GB Natural Titanium iPhone 15 Pro. And my last 2 phones were the Pro Max. I love the size. But the battery. I am getting a 15 Pro Max. Then when the 16 Pro Max comes out I will get that phone
I mostly love my 15 Pro. My only gripes are that the battery life isn’t the best, and it still gets a little too warm for my liking. And the issue is exacerbated when using a case. The issue makes me do less on my iPhone and more on my iPad. And then I wonder why I need a $1000 iPhone if I do most iOS things on my iPad, lol. I have owned every iteration of the iPhone except 11 and 12. For the first time I barely use my iPhone anymore. I don’t remember heat being an issue with my 13 Pro Max or 14 Pro.
I’ve decided that I’m going from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the iPhone 15 Pro version this week in person at the Apple Store not only for the small form factor for portability bur getting the usb C and all other new features including pro motion, especially that it has a $370 trade in credit so I want to take advantage of that and would only spend $730 + taxes for a 15 pro with 256gb storage and especially with all the updates I’m sure I won’t have any problem and excited for it and this will probably be my last upgrade and just change the battery when it’s 75% capacity or below since the 15 pro can last for a long time
I bought a blue Titanium iPhone 15 Pro on launch date; I've been eyeing the white titanium so the other day I sold my blue and bought the white ha No Regrets
Perfect timing on this video, Aaron. Thank you! I watch videos on my 15 Plus so the size is great. However, the large size is affecting my hands but am afraid to go to anything smaller because of my eyes. I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. I came from the 14 pm and am missing pro features. I can trade in my phone with TMobile after a year and was think of going with either the 16 pro hoping that the 16.3 16 pro (which is what I really want) would work well for me. Either that or just going with the 15 pro max. I just can’t go with that huge 16 pro max. Way too big for my hands. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😢
I had both the 15 Pro and Pro Max and returned the 15 Pro Max. I have pretty good sized hands (piano hands as my mother calls it) and found the Pro Max to be just a tad too big, even with the smaller size than the 14 Pro Max. I miss the battery of the PM, but the 15 Pro does everything I need. Plus I have a charger on me if it needs a fast charge. I think the 16 Pro will be a good alternative for you if the size is going to be a 6.3”! Only 3 months away till it’s released
Hey Aaron, I noticed something with the battery health, On 15pm the battery health drops to 99% at 50-150cycles. But, on the 15pro once it reaches 250 cycles it drops rapidly. I have 280 cycles and has dropped down to 92%. I was at 99% at 240 cycles. It would be great if more people verify this
Just noticed today that I got annoyed when I used dynamic island to pause the song and then when I wanted to press play to get back to music and it's actually gone from dynamic island. It would be cool if they leave it there so that that island is something like multitasking switch or something instead of going through the apps and search the ones you want when you may have opened bunch of apps together.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is just the 12 Pro Max version 4. Same design same user interface. I had the Apple Store put a new battery in mine. Looking at the S24U, I think the 16 Pro Max will need to be a big upgrade.
I upgraded from the 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max. And I have to say that USB C finally on my iPhone and AirPods Pro makes all the difference. I also love the Action Button to unlock my Tesla.
Do Apple devices support AV1? iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max have A17 Pro chip supports AV1 video decoder to play AV1 files and Apple announced in the fall 2023 that Apple supports AV1. AV1 codec is royalty-free and available for use worldwide. Mac M1 with Handbrake 1.7.3 supports AV1 presets to encode/convert videos (H264, H265, ProRes, ...) to AV1 videos to smaller file size (40% reduce) with the same quality. On my Mac M1, Music app does not support AV1 files and I cannot transfer AV1 videos to my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Silicon Macs with third party apps such as IINA, VLC, or Elmedia Player plays AV1 files fine, but not Apple Music app or QuickTime player

Mine manufactured in Sept 2023, First used in Nov 2023, actual cycle count 242 (i'm a poweruser. Live abroad and use facetime a lot), having the battery capped at 80% and still in 100% max capacity 👍👍👍👍
That’s actually nice, I’m thinking of getting it this week with the trade in credit. I’m guessing capping it at 80% helps always right or it depends on experience right
I change iphone every year since IP4....this was the first time I kept using my 14pro for a 2nd year....I am not obsessed with battery life anymore...will get the 16pro when it's out
Same 14 pro is like 95% of the 15 pro
My wife is getting the 15P. An upgrade from the 11. I still have my 11 and plan on upgrading to the 16 instead.
got my 15pm on day one with 100 cycle counts and just hit 99% battery health a couple days ago. i’m good with this👍🏾

I downsized to the 15 Pro after my 64GB XS Max kept hitting storage issues. Rocking 1TB now, and this would be the best iPhone if it had 3D Touch!
Seeing the 11 Pro, 13 Pro and 14 Pro next to each other always makes me laugh at how massive the cameras have become 😂. I remember when I got the 11 Pro Max and I thought the cameras were massive then, now look!
11 Pro with that Baby camera
Only here because you're one of the best mobile tech reviewers. Otherwise, the 15 Pro is too much like the previous Pro series, just like the 16 Pro will be. Seems like I will be sticking with my 14 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro, probably will upgrade to the 9 Pro later this year.
Thank you
@@zollotech No, thank you for the dedication you put into this craft of yours!
I’m on 13 pro,and yet to see any real reason to upgrade.
Same also they haven’t improve the charging speed even tho they switched to UsB C
You will when the 16 comes out.
13 Pro pretty good now :)
Casual user will never have a reason
Good to know. Thx
How’d you realise it was failing? Anything in particular?
@@_SALVADOR__nothing was recording on voice memo, and when calling or receiving calls (standard and WhatsApp), no sound at all from the iPhone. Contacted Apple who ran an initial OTA diagnostic, then recommended that I go into the store to see what was the issue (they didn’t confirm anything). The Apple Genius ran a proper full diagnostic and only their diagnostic software in store picked up the problem, and they took the phone to check the usual water indicators and damage indicators (which were fine) and an hour later I was given a brand new replacement iPhone 15 Pro.
@@_SALVADOR__ i would also like to know
@@JTWALL100 my reply was deleted by the algorithm. Basically if you notice the voice memo records nothing and also the other person can’t hear you on the phone (standard and on whatsapp etc) despite full bars on network and wifi calling, then there’s a problem with the mic. If you have another phone with a sim in you can check that way as well.
I have a 15Pro 244 cycles! Still 100% coming from a Xs and this phone has only been amazing.
Got my 15P on launch day 289 charging cycles battery at 98%
I upgraded from the 11 pro and I love it, hopefully I can keep it for 5+ years like I typically do between upgrades
15 pro max since october with 161 battery cycles still on 100%
I have participated in "What phone do you own?" surveys.
Not 120Hz display.
Its a deal breaker for many
I’m guessing that most people buy with finance or on contract. Over 24 months the difference is only $12.50 a month. I recommend the 15 Plus for my mum. She just wanted the bigger screen and better battery life.
Because your already paying that much for the phone what’s a little more for the full experience 😂
My 15P now has 170 cycles and the battery is still 100%.
Do you still use fast charging?? Just wondering if you’re not really concerned about the battery cause it will degrade overtime regardless and not stay 100% forever
The 15 Pro is the best upgraded from 11Pro and extremely happy with decision
Mine is finally 99% after 251 cycles. I’ve mostly left 80% limit on.
@@skyeoleary My 15 Pro gets 6-7+hrs. on screen time w/o Low Power Mode on. But here’s a few things I did that helped the battery: Turned off Always On Display + Background Refresh + True Tone / Auto Brightness and Siri, switched 5G to LTE, and switched to Dark Mode. Hope this helps you too!
160 cycles at 98% health on launch day 15pm
For me, it's 125 charge cycles and 100% battery health. I got my Pro Max on launch day, too. I've very impressed with it.
Mine 15 Pro is still 100% on a 196 cycles. Charging it up to 80%.
My iPhone 15 Pro Max is still at 100% with 220 Cycles. I do change mines up to 100% tho
@@ShowYourSmile. I do also charge it now and then to 100%, i also believe that IOS does it periodically aswell for battery health.

Unless Apple add significant battery improvements to 16 Pro, I will keep my 13 Pro for another year.
Yes!!! I returned my 15 pro max bc the battery was AWFUL. I still have my 13 pro max
In terms of PWM, which one is better for the eyes, 15 Pro or 13 Pro?
Excellent longer term overview and review, thank you very much.
I’m planning on going from the 13 Pro Max to the regular 16 Pro this fall.
But the pro models from next year is rumored to be 6.3 inch instead of the current 6.1 inch

Wait for the 16 pro, since it will be their second gen pro chip and probably more features.
@@Popgrenade-ml3tg Ok, thanks!
And would you go for 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max? Since I have a 14 Pro but not sure if the 6.9 16 Pro Max inch would be too big compared to the 6.3 regular 16 Pro size?
Why are so many people complaining about the pro’s battery life? Thinking of upgrading from the 14 pro max anyone recommend?
After using the pro max for a couple months then returning to the normal pro size; the thing I miss so much is the 5x zoom. I wish I had it. But the size of the phone was just too large and very inconvenient. No phone should be that large unless you have very large hands. The pro is the perfect size. But I wish it also included the 5x zoom.
My 15 Pro still has 100% maximum capacity at 167 cycles, first use October 2023. Phone doesn't have any scratches, I'm using it without a case with glass screen protector.

Battery life on the iPhone 15 Pro Max screen on time sucks
I’ve decided that I’m going from the iPhone 12 Pro Max to the iPhone 15 Pro version this week in person at the Apple Store not only for the small form factor for portability bur getting the usb C and all other new features including pro motion, especially that it has a $370 trade in credit so I want to take advantage of that and would only spend $730 + taxes for a 15 pro with 256gb storage and especially with all the updates I’m sure I won’t have any problem and excited for it and this will probably be my last upgrade and just change the battery when it’s 75% capacity or below since the 15 pro can last for a long time
Currently have an 14p waiting on the 16p 😅
