As mentioned by another commentator, that pink haired girl in the beginning wasn't Vi, Powder (or Jinx) saw her sister in her due to the similarity between them and her mental state. And yes, those are indeed mannequins of her dead friends! As shown in a super quick shot in this episode, she's got a human-sized mannequin for Mylo (the one that used to pick on her) and a little one for Clagor. Great video Alex!
Why tho? One example of many it's why would they kill Vi after one second of her appearance after a timeskip? Like wut. You would think to re-watch that part just to make sure. xD
as a seventeen year old gym rat female, who keeps her waist length hair in double dutch braids at all times, paints her natural 1-1.5 inch long nails roughly three times a week, and has a burning penchant for tank tops, I must affirm that Jinx, is, in fact, aesthetic GOALS
Goodwin: Who believed in Jayce before anyone else? Who believed in his work for science and innovation? Who believed in Jayce when everybody cast him away? Me: Vikt.... Goodwin: MEEE!!!
This show is big on visual story telling, some of the narrative and plot are not brought up through dialogue but you can discover them just by looking closely at the scene or having a second glance
yeah this is probably my favorite aspect of the entire show. the dialogue can come off quite generic at times, and i think thats purposefully done, but the actually storytelling itself is anything but generic, its borderline revoultionary in its visual techniques and attention to detail. All of that comes from the visual aspects of the show, from thematic visual writing itself, to backround art, character facial expression animation, 3D character models and 3D action scenes, the list goes on and on. Even the rap music videos that are done in totally different art styles.
Dude, you should have way more subscribers! I’ve been following along with some of your shows after watching your Korra series (amazing, btw) and your content is consistently engaging and thought-provoking! Keep doing what you’re doing!
It's wild how he can perceive the trajectory of a characters story just by hearing one thing about them. I won't go into detail because I don't know how far he is into the show, but man is he nailing it on some of these characters.
12:58 well now i feel dumb because, before watching this video, i had never noticed this very clear graphic metaphor with viktor being covered by jace's mug
"Who believed in Jayce when he was nothing?" Me: Viktor "Who is it that saw Jayce's potential?" Me: yep that's Viktor "Who said that Jayce would be the one to change things, that he was the one who really understood science?" Me: He's gonna say Viktor! "𝗜'𝗺 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗰𝗲'𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀"
I feel so bad for jinx, but absolutely love how disjointed the visuals get around her. It's a visual gag I dont think I've really seen (at least as extensively) anywhere else. And yes, she had mock-friends down there.
It wasn't Vi with the Firelight crew. You can even see that even though it's been around 7 years, Jinx imagined Vi's face on that girl as if she was still 15. That's supposed to be a tell that it's basically just a hallucination. Also, jinx killed the girl.
Something that is never brought up in the show, but I feel most people would like to know, is that the creature that follows Heimerdinger around as a sort of "pet" is called a poro. They're like if goats were also hamsters, and I THINK they come from the Freljord (pronounced frel-yord, that being the frozen, mountainous north of this particular continent in this world), and, if not exactly from there, poros are at least vastly more common in the Freljord, and popular as pets the world 'round.
Progress day in piltover is showing what advancements the city has achieved while in zaun or the under city ppl celebrate by replacing their body with augmentations and upgrading what they already have. Both in search of a better lifestyle and a chance to improve their lifes in general
Since you wondered if Jinx made a puppet of Mylo I have to assume you didn't notice Mylo's "ghost" when she was talking by herself, right before she turns around saying "I know!". She was talking to him, actually, and his figure sort of haunts her (but I'm gonna be honest, since the setting it's pretty dark in that scene I only saw it on the 5th watch lmao).
Aside from Arcane and your reaction here, I love your view on innovation and money in that short rant halfway through the video. Never thought about it myself, but what you said really is inspiring
The issue with what you were saying about producing more with less work is that historically all that does is put more pressure on workers to produce more while no extra value is given to them. The cotton gin made things worse for slaves when it’s intention was to make things easier for them. Our technology keeps improving but most people see no benefit.
I think the ammount of people that were confused about the girl Jynx killed in the beginning is evidence that the sequence wasn't executed very well. The problem is in the scene they literally put Vis young face on the girl and THEN switched it back to the girls real face.
I don't think it was necessarily executed badly as its shown from Jinx's perspective where she sees Vi but not Vi in present but Vi 7 years ago, that shot cuts away showing the difference between an outside perspective and what jinx sees in the firelight girl that triggered her flashbacks As long as you pay attention you can see the obvious differences in her face like the dark eye colour freckles and scar The give away for me is because Vi's face hadn't aged at all in the shot where jinx saw her it couldn't actually be her given how much powder has aged alone They also make it pretty clear later on that she was just another girl with pink hair and not actually Vi
@@MigliLovania I have seen some reactors who completely missed the fact that it wasn't actually Vi. Most pick up on it after the talk with Silco, but I've seen one who still didn't realize for so long that they had no idea who the girl at the end of the episode was.
It's funny how Piltover was fine without the hexgates before, but now they have it, they can't lose it. Did the Noxians get shipped anything other than Vinegar from Piltover before the hexgates?
A good detail to pick up is that Silco wasn't wrong when he said Sevika failed. The only reason Jinx even had to step in was because Sevika and her crew got trapped in those crystal bombs. Jinx was the last line of defense. Surely Jinx made a mess but a successful frontline defense would've prevented this mess too. So despite Silco's clear bias towards Jinx behind a closed door, he makes true and fair statements to Sevika. That's a good touch because a brainlessly biased crime lord (who's not physically the strongest himself) would've been overthrown long ago. It shows how Silco runs his "business".
Jinx and Silco's relationship is 100% just a father/daughter relationship, there's nothing sexual going on between them. Jinx is just *very* clingy towards Silco. Just felt like I needed to mention that.
@@JasmineTeaEnjoyer Nah he's right dude, i thought it could've been more at first as well, but it was pretty clear as it went on that Silco viewed her as nothing more than a daughter and the show never indicated he felt anything more towards her, jinx was the one was just super clingy and obviously still emotionally immature.
@@patricktorres1292 we don't know whats going on off screen, so im not saying they def are or arent something more than father/daughter, but from the visual indictations the show gives us there is def something being implied there, and it would make sense within the context of both there characters that they had a sexual relationship like that. Jinx wants nothing more than to be validated and viewed as an adult, Silco is willing to break plenty of laws but you think age of consent is where he draws the line? Nah, not buying it.
This came up a lot on Patreon. There are a handful of moments / shots that are clearly put in there to make the nature of their relationship ambiguous or to at least make the audience uncomfortable. These are the face stroke on Silco's lap and the fakeout kiss in the lake. So I wouldn't say it's so clear cut, especially with Silco being this person who clearly doesn't care about doing the right thing, the law, etc.
The animators confirmed that it was intentional to make it uncomfortable. With every character in this show they start you off with surface level 'expectations' of these characters and then come back with a moment or two that make you look back with a different perspective. It is the most brilliant and proper way I've ever seen the use of 'subverting expectations' from most everything I've seen come before it.
just an fyi jinx has schizophrenia and this show does such an amazing job in depicting it and mental illness in genral. i would suggest in analyzing the psych of each character because its just so good
At first I used to really not care about the Jayce and Viktor storyline but after this episode Jayce and Viktor along side Ekko , Caitlyn and Mel became such complex and relatable characters.
I'm sure you know by now vi wasn't the firelight girl but what interests me is how vi had been in prison since Marcus took her in episode 3 (roughly 7 years) She grew up to adulthood trapped in prison with no way to know if powder survived or was kidnapped or anything that happened after that night I can't imagine the guilt she must be feeling
The bit about increasing value versus moving value around in regards to helping people is interesting, because I think what we see a lot in reality and I would say almost as an inherent feature of capitalism is that the value pie gets bigger constantly, and yet poverty continues to be a massive problem because all the extra value goes to the pockets of the same top layer of people who have all the money, own all the businesses, and thus get to keep all the rewards for themselves. The usefulness of increasing the size of the pie is severely undercut by the logistics of actually getting that new value into the hands of the people who need it most. Which is how we get inundated constantly with messages of progress and new inventions and revolutionary technology as well as being told how well the economy is doing and how the stocks are going up and yet at the same time massive amounts of people continue to suffer. So while in theory adding value should be more useful than moving value around, in reality for most people 'adding value' changes nothing for their own situation, cause they will never get to reap those rewards.
On the Silco and Jinx relationship note in my personal opinion do to the similarity that both of them felt betrayed by family gives them a deep connection where they become dependent on each other and there relationship witch to me feels more like the whole we are family now and we are all we have thing
This has nothing to do with Arcane, but I would really recommend Haikyuu! Would love to see your perspective on the show and its characters! Love your channel and reactions!
We've seen a lot of "groundbreaking technology developement" in anime, movies and TV series. Most of them are scify babbeling with a single application that can be used for energy or weapons. What I really like about Hex Tech, is how Jayce and Victor intentionally created it to be easily applicable into anything else. In that way it reminds me of the steam engine, of all the groundbreaking developements we had. Steam power was already used in medival times for example to power water fountains, but never to power any productive machine. Construction and heavy lifting had always been done by slaves and low class workers with horse power, nobody questioned that for millenia. Inventors like Da Vinci were handycapped in the developement of their ideas by simply the lack of engine power. Nobody EVER thought about creating something that could just be used to power someone else's invention. Until James Watt's steam engines were created, the first machines with huge amounts of power and all they did was turn a piston rod with much torgue. Suddenly many other inventors were enabled to apply their ideas to a rotating rod and technology made a huge expansion. Trains, raffineries and factories were the direct cause, followed by steam powered ships and later machines that would follow the same idea, just smaller and more efficient. That's obviously an oversimplification, but still the core story is similar. Jayce and Victor didn't invent another interesting but ultiately useless apparatus, like the ones we saw in the beginning of the vdeo, they changed the whole game on a fundermental level.
take a shot everytime Goodwin calls Viktor "Ivan"
