UA-camrs should watch your vlogs to see "how it is done" -- your personal touches -- music -- videography -- tips and honest reviews are so very refreshing. I've been watching more than a year now and Dome Life is something I always look forward to watching.
Agreed!!!
I had heard of using a tent inside a tent but you are the first vloggers that I actually see using this method. Bundle up and stay warm.
I can not imagine "not" eating cilantro , love it !!
I have never heard of Cilantro must see if I can get it here cheers Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨😁
@@lynnebunning7273 It might be called coriander where you live.
Now I know what your talking about lol thanks 🇦🇺🐨😁
By the way, you can 100% wash a cast iron pan with soap and water. If you have seasoned it correctly the oil is polymerized and normal dish soap will not harm it.
Days like what you are experiencing will make you appreciate the really good days even more!! You will most likely make it just fine and have marvelous tales to tell your grandchildren!!! LOL
Beautiful bike ride views! A tent in a tent, clever. Necessity is the mother of invention!
Oh how interesting. I pickle red onions by making an equal solution of water and white vinegar and sliced onions- done. The longer they sit the yummier they get. I keep them in the fridge for weeks (if they last that long). You could just add garlic to it also. I do a lot of fermenting and pickling. Pickled red onions are fabulous.
Glad you are enjoying Texas state parks and the annual pass. Your vlog formula for each episode is perfect and that’s why viewers keep coming back. Just being yourselves that viewers can relate to. Thanks!
Oh yeah... if u get couple of those cheap blue tarps u can run them under the rain fly and it helps alot with wind and rain.. and the sun lol just trying to help ...
Enjoy watching you guys! Your photography has really excelled over the past year! You have inspired us to tent camp this year as we become empty nesters.
Now you guys are living the life! I been following for a while but never commented.
Yea Seminole is so windy! We went in October last year and the weather during the days was warm but at night it got so windy!?! Glad y’all were able to double up and get some comfort. Did you stop at the Comstock convenience store? The lady that works there is awesome🤗. And that single pump made us chuckle 🤭
Kelley's cooking quickly keeps camping cozy.
Hope y’all stay warm and safe!!!
Just remember, to put your purple pickled onions with Peter Piper's pickled peppers, they're out there in his purple pickup truck!
You need to put together a cookbook. 😋😋
yes!!!
Yes a cook book would be great your a good cook every thing u make looks great😊
She has been working on one, I believe. ❤️
She's working on one. I'm so ready for it to be released.
Good thinking, you essentially made a 4 season tent by putting one 3 season tent inside another. I'm looking forward to seeing how your night went - in my experience, sleeping in cold weather isn't too bad, but getting up and out of the bag in the morning is a bearcat.
We have a Teardrop trailer that we use regularly, and I'm guessing you got far less condensation inside your tent than you would have in the trailer. That's the only downside to small trailers in my mind. We'll crack a couple of windows open and run an exhaust fan, and we still have to wide down the walls in the morning.
You can also cut red onions thin and them pack them in a jar, make your pickle liquid and pour it over the onions in the jar…onions will keep their texture! Also I don’t know how the rest of the world scrapes a cutting board off using the sharp edge of their knife because that is the worst thing for a knife… I use the back of my knife too! You could use a knife “steel” or a steel hone for your knives…
Very exciting! Better than cable TV.
we had a event like your dealing with but we were not prepared. It was brutal.. so glad your set up should keep you warm enough..
Hope you guys look at the Kelty loveseat for evening lounging/snuggling. Great for sunset watching stargazing, campfire snuggles.
Your cooking variety is amazing! I can't imagine in permanent home having all that food. I cook the same thing nearly every day, chicken, rice , black beans, broccoli, scrambled eggs & sausage.
I have really loved your last two videos. You are such a great team. You each bring wonderful talents to your channel and help each other shine, which is inspiring. The filming is creative and the music is great and the whole ride is just awesome :) It seems like you are getting better at showcasing Kelly's cooking. I mean the biscuits! at camp. Love watching her do all that cooking outdoors.
Lots of laughs during the cooking segment. Another entirely enjoyable video, thank you. Way to stay safe and warm! Dome Life cutting board arrives today, more fun to have. 😃
You guys are so creative. My husband and I just love your videos. You are such a cute couple and as fellow Arkys we are proud of you. Can't wait for Kelly's cookbook, Your innovative ways of dealing with whatever comes your way are really admirable
The exact reason I purchased the Coleman 14'x10' Instant Tent is because it is completely enclosed. Friend has the Core Tent like you have with the open top. He ended up getting some velcro and cutting triangle from a large tarp and velcro those pieces to the top. This helped hold in the AC on hot days.
You should use silicon ear plugs for swimming it fits any ear. Good for blocking snoring sounds to.🤣
Keep in the back of your mind… Jan/Feb is winter in Texas & that’s when you’ll have a few days of nasty weather. Glad it didn’t last a week like Freezemagedon this time last year.
When my husband and I go camping (and at home, too!), I need ear plugs for a different reason: his snoring! Best ones I’ve found are made by 3M, and they’re orange foam-like kinds that can squish and form good in your ears. This brand seems to be better than others, and they’re the ones that are small round chunks, not the tapered ones. Hope this helps if you decide to try some again.
I look at you both as athletes. They have a goal and do what it takes to continue with that goal. Having a cold body sucks, but you both seem to have a great attitude about the cold lasting a few days. We so enjoy your channel and wish you the very best. Stay safe and warm.
Kelly, you always make me want to join you for meals! Plus the filming certainly is excellent to showcase those gorgeous meals! I love it that you're gonna get to say "we camped out in 13 degree weather! Or whatever it may be! How many people can say that?? You guys are awesome!
What a clever solution to the high winds and colder temps! I look forward to viewing how it all works out for you! If it works well you will be all that more prepared for the next time! Thank you for sharing your adventure!
So glad y'all are safe
Those colorful floating noodles are good for your awning tie down ropes. Enjoy your videos!
I love your videos. I subscribed to your channel in 2016! Your videos inspire me and the information you guys give is truly helpful. Thank you!
Would you guys consider doing a bloopers video? Like a collaboration from your adventures? I mean were all human here and we all have bloopers, just not all recorded. I wish mine were!
Ciao Kellie and Cody, keep warm out there enjoy your weekend great vlog .
Beautiful food once again Kellie your pancakes looked so fluffy 👍 your menu is A1 ... See you both next week Stay safe and well everyone. Ciao Wendy 🇭🇲 in 🇮🇹❤️✌️💜👋
Awesome video you two! Loved the Mountain bike trail, awesome footage. Been there done that wth the tent inside a tent :) it really does work to keep you warmer.
Its so interesting to watch all of the day to day things that happen to you guys.
Camping is challenging getting the setup right, always changing things about and adapting - well done on trying a new idea, good thing you kept both tents. Canvas is really warm for cold conditions
Glad y'all made it okay! A suprise winter cold front got us all moving fast to prepare. 7"-10" of snow in Fayetteville, AR and really really cold temps.
Hey, we like the Banjo Joe shirt Kelly! We love our Dome Life shirts. Stay warm you guys!
Tent within a tent, do what you got to do, and more warm sunshine is headed for you. God bless y'all.
Take care and stay safe guys!
Peace&love
🕉
you're right ,the wind can be a nuisance here in Texas. I've been in some high winds camping and my tent did great in it! Hope y'all are well and stay safe! Can't wait to see how this plays out on Tuesday.
Nice! I always feel welcome at your camp!
I love the differences in the World. Ya'll coming to TX enjoying the warmth. Me going to Arkansas from TX to enjoy the Ozarks chill 😂
when I am camping in cold weather we put a tarp in between the rain fly and the mesh at the top of the tent. With the buddy heater it helps keep it pretty toasty inside as well as some extra protection if it rains (although if it''s windy it will still be noisy). But I like the idea of a tent within a tent. I will have to try that one day.
Looks cold. Hope y’all do ok and stay warm. I live in Indiana so we are used to cold weather. Waiting on spring to arrive in about 60 days here. Thanks for taking us along.
Get down comforters. They work wonderful in really cold weather.
A "little" weather puts me on edge too, when I'm in my tent (Gazelle T4). The tent-in-a-tent idea makes sense.
I experienced some high winds & dust devils for hours one evening on the Alvord Desert (OR) in a T3 with the rainfly like your outer tent. On video, it looked like a dust storm inside the tent. Unfortunately I didn't have a dust mask inside the tent. I don't recall getting much sleep that night.
We have always wondered how the Gazelle tents hold up in weather
@@CodyandKellie They do alright. The door zippers incur a bit of stress though, and nylon does degrade from UV light over time. They do setup pretty quickly.
very clever tent in a tent. it's been a challenge everywhere this winter to "chase the 70's". Will be waiting to see how you make it thru, though we have no doubt you guys will adapt and overcome.😉👍
I've been told that people that think cilantro tastes like soap have a specific gene that causes it. If true, my son and I both have it and can taste it in salsa or anything else flavored with cilantro. Thanks for another video, stay warm and safe!
The desert does have its own kind of beauty, but nothing beats a mountain top sunset or sunrise from the top of our mountain in Arkansas! If I could post pics here, you'd agree.
Not being able to enjoy it is just a lack of preparation. You can have fun camping in the snow if you're prepared. Not a knock on you guys at all just saying you can still enjoy it if you alter the way you prepare and do things. I think the tent in a tent idea is awesome if it works good.
I’m with you guys…cilantro is delicious!
I’m late. Don’t know if you saw my comment before about a diesel tent heater but it supposedly will heat up a tent very well. I’ve only seen them on UA-cam so you might want to check it out
When we have to get back to Missouri/Arkansas fairly quickly in winter months, we camp in the Ocean Springs MS to Pensacola, Fl area. One overnight at Lake Granada, Ms on the way to MO, then back home. Once in awhile two nights while returning if we’re going clear to KC. We were all over Texas in January and really got tired of the wind and cold. We’re back in our preferred MS area now, and it’s much warmer! Hope you all get somewhere warm soon. Stay safe.
Cody, try saying “pickled purple onions” 3x fast. 😆 Tongue twister. 😂
The views were gorgeous on your bike ride. I do hope the weather wasn't as rough as were anticipating. Putting to test all your skills have obtained over the time you've been traveling. I think you will stay warm once your tucked in bed as long as the wind settled. Looking forward till your next one to see how you managed. Just a tad worried but sure your preparation & skills will get you through. Take care 🙏🏻 cheers from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨🤩😍🤩😍
Looks like you're really in for some cold! I live in Wisconsin, so13 degrees at this time of year is normal. We do have year round campers & I've seen them in frigid cold weather in tents. I've camped in 20 degree weather, but in a camper with heat. I normally camp spring thru fall & prefer the milder temps. Those pancakes with bananas & pecans with maple syrup looked so good! I'll be looking for your next video to find out how it went. Take care & stay safe.
I don’t remember which video had the “collapsed” canopy. We have one just like that with the center push “pin”. The corners do not have pins. Ours partially collapsed when we got a hard rain.. fortunately nothing got bent much. We drained the water and re-pushed the center pin. Would not stay. We put a short strap (with a cam lock buckle) at each corner to hold the corner slides up tight. This pushed the frame into proper position and we have not had another collapse since. Not sure how to post a picture on youtube comments and we don’t do face, twit, or the like. I’ll be glad to send a photo if I can get an email.
Good evening Kellie & Cody ! I was wondering if your going to be able to see the Marfa Lights. Stay warm & keep smiling !
Good luck. Hope all goes well.
Hi Kelly, can you tell me what the name of the episode with your brother were you burnt. The chicken I can't find went over all of episodes I want my sister to watch I loved it thank you
One of our favorites!!!
ua-cam.com/video/i4TmvfMVJls/v-deo.html
Using a popsicle stick as an improvised finger splint for the sake of Easter dinner is so hardcore!
Looks very intents!! 🤠🤠👍
Nooooo! I can’t wait til then! I wanna know how you made it through the freezing weather!
Thank you for sharing
Could you please share the recipe for pickling the onions.
Well at least the stress 😩 is temporary, could be worse. Hopefully you sleep 😴 with a hat 👒 on and pulled over your ears. Keeps the heat in and help block the noise. Experience is the best teacher. Yes, the wind sure does make it colder.
I make your pancakes all the time they are screaming. I love your videos. I suggest a good solid Tent from Cabela's. Carry both types of tent. Or get a good Wall tent and you could have a fire box .
I've had camping experiences like that and trust me you'll get through it especially you guys being such seasoned campers. You'll be laughing about this someday. I hope anyway! Looking forward to your next video. Stay safe and blessed 💞🙏❤️
Praying for you guys
Bless your hearts😔wind makes me nervous listening to it flapping around like that. Can't wait to see how you managed to make it all work out 💚🌵
This may have been the same weather event that hit me when I was out at Big Bend; it got down to ~ 30 degrees. Like y'all, I also have two 3-season tents. But it was so cold and blustery, I packed up and headed back home to Del Rio. Despite how miserable this weather event was, at least it wasn't the snowy blizzard that got Del Rio down to 12 degrees a year ago, when power went out all over Texas.
Sounds like a "Picnic in the Park" NOT. Cheers from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺🐨😁😁
Mack's Slim Fit earplugs on Amazon are smaller and skinnier (they are lavender color)...they might work for you. I really like that brand and I have both regular size and the slim fit. My son is autistic, and makes a lot of verbal stimming noises that is pretty constant. I NEED earplugs to save my sanity. They are comfortable and really work for me. Also, I live about 2 hours north of San Francisco...beautiful, the temps have been in the high 70's, low 80's lately. Dry and sunny. I know it's not in the direction you need to go but you might consider California for winter....Southern California is more mild and warmer than northern. There are some BLM lands and forest areas too.
I made a really bad ham once too 😄
Chips and salsa is the best I always make homemade salsa 💃 love you guys love to watch you and how you always cook good meals Kelly 😋
Come to Vegas it's supposed to be nice. Me and the beautiful wife are going camping Saturday at lake Mead. Tons of free camping everywhere
You might want to look into getting a hot tent
The first time I ever had fresh cilantro I thought the restaurant put dish soap in my food. The key is to use it on a spicy dish to cut the heat, then it doesn't taste like soap. That bike trail was making me nervous as heck, too close to steep cliffs for my liking.
Awe, I won't be able to make it to this cleanup; I have a 5k scheduled for 3/19 in Springfield, MO. The last cleanup was so much fun though. I met some fantastic people!! Maybe I'll catch you all on the other.
Ca n you give more details on your recipe for the onions.
Been following y’all for awhile! When y’all coming to Georgia? Recipe for your pickled red onion please! Be safe y’all!!
Soon I hope
@18:20...where my Matt's Offroad Recovery people at? That music is quite familiar...
Here
It's cloudy, 40 degrees. We'll get'em out.
2 Rule"s For Camping #1Always Be Flexible (2), See #1 I was surprised how much the sides were moving on the tent you put inside of the bigger tent that was some rough wind. I saw you had a shelter at your site could you have put your tent under it and used a tarp to go around the shelter creating a wind break? I know others are on the edge of their camp chairs wondering what you're going to do but I have confidence you"ll be just fine. You've been doing this long enough it's no big deal! Oh the stories you'll have!
Hey Cody / Kelly. Is that a small hole in the window door of the big tent ? Love y’all as always. Prayers!
No
I hope you have a carbon monoxide monitor in your tent.
The best kind of cook is one that cooks with love. I knew that with Kellie before Cody said it.
I do get a little nervous when I see Kellie use a knife. Keep your knives sharp. A dull knife gives you the worst cuts.
Again another great video (~);}!!! Well audio. I will watch it later.
My husband says that he can taste the love I put into my dishes too. Now we have something in common Kelly. I'm also looking at yoga. You make me think I should be doin' some everytime I see you doing it. So you are inspiring me. Not yet but soon. I see nothing wrong with a tent in a tent. Sorry you are running into the rougher weather.
Can I have your pancake recipe, my husband said they look amazing. Been trying to make him big fluffy pancakes for years.
Did y'all know the chihuahuan desert is the largest in north america, well you do now, God bless y'all.
You certainly don't go hungry!
I'm one of those that cilantro tastes like soap. It's suppose to be something in our taste buds. It's really horrible to me. But I can handle in salsa ir cooked in. Love you videos.
Genius!!
Can't wait to see next video! I am curious to know what heater you use. I have a Wattfun
300W and love it but cannot find a heater to use. Any suggestions. And thank you again for
all the work you do.
Buddy propane heater
Good Lord, I didn't even think propane, duhhh
I’m curious… what do y’all use for non-electric heating? Hunker down and stay safe and warm! See you next video!! 😎
Buddy heater. It runs off propane
Love your videos you guys. Do you know a good campground around Jonesboro, Arkansas in the winter? We are looking for a place next winter with our camper.
Not completely sure about a campground. I did see there is a Jacksonport state park nearby with camping
whats the recipe, on the instant pickled red onions ?
Gypsy J..
You guys be careful out there.
Someone probably already said this but if you don't know the cilantro soap taste is a genetic thing. Same goes for celery. I like both but I have family members who think both are chemicals in the shape of vegetables. Can you imagine not getting to like CILANTRO? We are blessed.
