keep up the good work! would like to see sweet & sour pork/chicken
@@fcuk112 that's a great dish! added to our list of things to make next :)
zhongzi!! 😋😋😋
Dim sum! Especially rice rolls! Cheung fun.
Can you also do vegan version/options?
Your videos are great! Love seeing real homemade canto dishes.
My son is trying to figure out Poh Poh’s steamed black bean spareribs. (Sometimes the culinary genius skips a generation - I get to enjoy the results.) Daddy Lau, you got any tricks to share?
Hearing the chef’s Cantonese makes me want to cry 😢 all the memories of my childhood just came back❤️
Aw Ada, so happy to hear that it's bringing back memories of childhood. Let us know if there's a dish that hits close to home. We can add to our list!
@@MadeWithLau I’m from Guangzhou, your dad’s recipes are very similar to what I always like to eat. And I really like that he kinda combines Cantonese with northern food in some dishes. If I have to name a few dishes that i wish to learn probably would be 萝卜牛腩 and 艇仔粥. But thank you for all the great recipes! And I really enjoy watching your family eating together!

This is some of the highest production and best content i've ever seen in a chinese cooking video, you really do an amazing job.
Thank you so much for the high praise Giuseppe! We're humbled to read this :) It means a lot to our family!
@Beacon of love- I agree ❤️
Wonder how it would turn out if tapioca is used in place of yam?
@@joeawk I sometimes use pumpkin instead of taro. Tapioca will be a different texture and tapioca lacks the sweetness.
I will have to totally agree with you there! The layout and explanations & instructions have been the best, especially in translations and it's the first time I've made something with taro.
I love Daddy Lau’s little tips as he’s cooking. It’s soooo insightful! For the first time, I feel grateful I understand Cantonese.
Awww thank you so much! I'm really grateful too! It's great to be able to learn the language through cooking.
Right?? It’s a cooking lesson AND a Cantonese tutorial
I love that you have both chinese and english subtitles on so we can watch it with our parents
Your dad reminds me of my dad who also worked in a restaurant for most of his life, he cooks for us on his only day off. Thank you!
Damn right Daddy Lau is a gangster! No gloves for that OG. And I love learning about new ingredients. Never knew taro was that big!
The real OGs don't wear gloves. Glad we could introduce you to new ingredients! I actually never knew taro was that big either.
Cute kid! love this episode where the family shared their upbringing, Chinese culture and language.
Awww thank you so much! We're so glad to hear that you appreciate all of the stories on our family and Chinese culture :) That means a lot to us!
I checked out your channel because Chinese Cooking Demystified recommended it. And now, I plan on binge watching all your videos! Your channel is so good!
Ahhhh thank you so much! We're so grateful you're here with us and for CCD for recommending our content! Any recipes / videos you want to see next?
My late grandma’s favourite. And your dad speaks just like the way she did. Gonna try to make this for her offerings ❤️ thank you!
Subbed, my parents are old and can’t make Chinese food anymore while I can’t read Chinese because I was never taught. I’m so glad this channel exists because I can now make this for them to eat! Thank you for the video. I hope one day you guys do a video on har gao, it’s my dad’s favorite!
Awww thank you so much for subscribing! We're so grateful to have you along with us on the journey. I will definitely add that to our list!
@@MadeWithLau 7:47, the correct pronunciation is (gloo' tin es) /ˈɡlo͞otnəs/ rice as in "glue" or as in gluten in bread. Not pronounced gluttonous as in to overeat so your "gut" is full. Glutinous rice is also known as sweet rice but it is not literally sweet from any form of sugar. Nor does it contain gluten.

Chef Lau’s recipes are accurate, simple and really work. Thank you
Taro cakes are my all time fave! Always so impressed with Daddy Lau's cooking and the high production quality of your channel!
Awww thank you so much for the kind words Magdeline! It means a lot to us :) We really appreciate the love and support!
I loved watching Yan Can Cook as a child, but I love watching your father cook even more!!
Your parents are a delight, and their history and info really add to the vid and make it so interesting ! What a blessing they are ! Can't wait to see Cam grow up ❤
Its such joy watching a master at work, no fancy effects, no fancy sound, just pure life experience !!
To have a dad and being a great cook is heaven lol.
Truly is heaven!
As Cantonese descent, i resonate with so many of your recipes. This is just one of them! Everytime you video comes up on my YT rec, I would be reminded of the food i have growing up when my grandma was stl the chief cook at the house. She's turning 104yo this year, still sharp, and healthy but i haven't seen her in person for two years now since we live in different islands 😢 i hope to be able to visit her again soon, i will surely play one of your videos to her just to hear Daddy & Mommy Lau speak Cantonese! I think she would definitely love it!
Love your video to capture your dad's authentic Chinese cooking, that's the art you wonderfully preserved. Thanks for sharing the family recipes with all of us. I followed the recipe and it was a success. Love your family time.
Yay! So grateful that you tried out our recipe and enjoyed it! I appreciate your kind words about the channel and can't wait to continue sharing more with you ❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words! We appreciate the love and support :)
Haven’t seen my family because of covid in over a year and often miss all the big family holidays with them. Love when y’all sit together and talk about stuff near the end, makes me like I’m with my family 💕 thank you Lau family!!
Awww thank you so much for sharing this comment with us. It was so heartwarming to read! We're so touched that our conversations remind you of your own family. We hope that you'll be able to reunite with them soon! Thank you so much for the love.
Same here...
I appreciate the detailed yet easy to follow step by step instructions. Your Dad's video and stories from China give us perspective on how this recipe has evolved.
Made this yesterday, although I didn't handle the flour and liquid mix well so my cake turned out a bit too loose, the flavor was extremely good. It hit home with me of the Cantonese food my parents used to make for us growing up but they've been long gone. Thanks Daddy Lau and Randy so much for these wonderful videos. I can continue to enjoy my childhood comfort food again and again.
Great video! Thank you for sharing!
I haven't seen my parents or eaten their food for so long. I can't describe how much I miss them. Just watching your Dad cook makes me feel so nostalgic; your production quality makes it feel like I'm in the kitchen with him. I'm so glad to have discovered your channel (thanks to Chinese Cooking Demystified). I hope I can recreate some fond memories through your recipes!
