    Made this last night in our "rehearsal" Thanksgiving dinner. It was a huge hit, to the point where my husband and kids have requested it to be added to the normal menu rotation! I am very grateful to you all for sharing this....I'm not a fan of seitan usually, but this was great!

    Made this recipe in the Instant Pot last night, and it turned out absolutely amazing! Never thought of adding a mashed potato to seitan, and it took it over the top. Thank you!!

      So glad you enjoyed it - I was looking for years for just the right texture - in the past I also used tahini & white bean - just not as good as potato though.

    Just needed to let you know, I made this tonight. I think I needed to add a little more potatoe and water but OH MY. This was the best Seitan recipe I have made. My kids and my husband devoured it. Thank you for this amazing recipe! I will be making this all year lol

    Made this a couple of days ago and served it on thanksgiving and... Wow. I make seitan all the time for meal prep and to use as a source of protein but.. It has never taste anywhere near as good as this! This recipe is amazing! And I cant believe how simple it is! I think the potato and olive oil are what gave this roast such a great texture. Every turkey lover at the table was surprised at how good it was! Thank you!!

    I cannot rave about this recipe enough. Made a loaf to take to my family’s thanksgiving meal, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the flavor of the Seitan. I didn’t get my potato quite as smooth as I’d have liked, but it still turned out great. It’s the day after and I’ve been enjoying the heck out of some leftovers in sandwiches. 😋 #twothumbswayup

    This recipe looks really good. Do you know the protein content for one serving? Whole Foods has “General Tso’s Chicken” made from Seitan. It is soooooo delicious! I would love to make it but have no idea where to start. I have Vital Glutan in my pantry, and made mock Spare Ribs one summer and they were pretty good. I would love it if your could come up with a recipe for the General Tso’s chicken.

    • @VeganAsFork
      @VeganAsFork  7 років тому

      I don't know the protein content per serving - I don't really track macros. I made spare ribs from seitan all the time when I first went vegetarian 8 years ago - so good! I will give the General Tso's a shot - it will probably be a little while before I get to it though - gotta get through all the holiday recipes first.

    Just grind the Rosemary without the other spices, then combine them. Then you won't get the cloud of dust. Use a coffee grinder, smaller and easier to handle.

    Last night, I made the mushroom gravy recipe from Sweet Potato Soul's channel with potatoes and it tasted like Thanksgiving in a bowl. It will be delicious on your turkey recipe! I have a question: why are vegan cooks (that I have seen on UA-cam) using granulated garlic instead of fresh garlic?

    • @nmccutcheon2243
      @nmccutcheon2243 7 років тому +1

      Tawnya Luke Hi. I'm not an expert, but I think the dried garlic powder is a more concentrated source of getting umami into your dish. I never used it till I went vegan. Now garlic and onion powder is a staple in my kitchen.

    • @tawnya0627
      @tawnya0627 7 років тому

      Nancy McCutcheon Thank you! I wondered if it might be easier or better for the recipes. Maybe the "chunk"factor.

    • @VeganAsFork
      @VeganAsFork  7 років тому +1

      The granulated garlic gives a more garlicky taste than fresh garlic - I feel like its less processed than garlic powder too. It's not chunky at all just really flavorful. I noticed the difference when we ran out of it and bought regular garlic powder by accident. My husband put some on his pizza and refused to use anything but the granulated garlic after that.
