Honesty this episode handled itself really well. It definitely is framed from the view of the kids which is pretty funny. I like that the message is you can't force love on someone, but in a much more realistic setting. A child isn’t going to make a love potion, but they very well could end up in situations kinda like this one

I'm going to say it - the pigs are there to get rid of old and bruised apples. They can't sell them and they can't have them lying around, and the pig manure would work well for soil quality.
Much like “steer” it’s actually quite weird to distinguish “heifer” from other cattle, because a heifer is a cattle who hasn’t calved yet. This makes sense in our world, but why do the ponies care about the mother status of another intelligent species? It’s funny how this show often forgets that they’ve shown cattle and other ungulates to be sapient and kinda just throw random farm words around
They obviously realised the implication of having sentient species as cattle, so they tried to pretend it never happened and farm animals are just beasts.

@StoryWeaver777 As a farmer/ rancher I will try to put to rest the dispute over the term heifer.
In true technical terms "heifer" is a bovine that has never calved. Thus they wouldn't be producing milk or least not enough until they're about to calve. Now, some or most will say, 1st calf heifers, to refer to a cow that had it's first calf, thus meaning they are young and may even still have calving issues with their second calf.
So in all real technicalities that was an error in the show, as you do NOT milk heifers.

There's a clear need for more lighthouses in Equestria given how this ship came out of nowhere. It did turn out cute, but _no one_ thought Sugarmac would be a thing before this aired... which might have been the idea.

I noticed at the end during the ending gag that Scootaloo spotted Blueblood, Flash Sentry, and Garble. I knew that Flash and Garble are both voiced by Vincent Tong, so I looked up to see if he also voiced Blueblood, and to my surprise, he actually did. I wonder if that was intentional?

People think this episode is bad? Could have fooled me, I thought this was a very fun episode when you get past how Sweetie Belle believed fairy tales would work in sparking a relationship when she's at the same time too young for puppet shows.

I think Big Macintosh has said more words in this one episode than he could in an entire season.
The later seasons did a surprisingly good job at fleshing out Big Mac- I never would've found myself calling him one of my favorite side characters before S6. And iirc every episode that starred him knocked it out of the park.
00:19 now that you mention it... the Twilight Sparkle's Twinkling Balloon is probably the most advertised playset release because its in every episode from season 1-7 in the intro
1:25 Yeah, that was always unintentionally funny to me, like a love potion and kissing someone while they're asleep aren't THAT different.
0:15 is one of the greatest mysteries in mlp. Sure the blimp makes an appearance multiple times in the show, but it's strange no one has ever questioned it

After somepony stole her bag, Sugar Belle was seeing mostly blue when she decided not to "do a magic" to get her bag back, however, she was later feeling blue as well when she leaned all over that freshly painted dessert display thereby getting blue paint all over her body.
Wait, so if Pinkie and AJ are related, does that mean that Big Mac had a crush on his cousin??
That's what confused me in that part, I don't think they had "sparks flying" in that episode I think they were just both shy ponies shooting the shit in their own way
If the Pies and Apples were related, it would've been so distant that it's debatable if it even counts as incest at that point.
But I guess the reason SugarMac became canon was primarily to avoid the controversy with MarbleMac

Even though a lot of people think that "Hard To Say Anything" is a bad episode, I for one enjoy it!
It was totally awesome that Big Mac one of the shows most underrated yet most popular secondary characters had a genuine crush on somepony, Though I can understand why some people didn't like that it was Sugar Belle because it was so random and out of nowhere and on some level Big Mac and Sugar Belle aren't that much compatible, I mean I'm a SugarMac fan i'm just saying that I can see why many people disapproved of this random canon pairing. And I can still remember when the Brony analysts were griping about how Sugar Belle didn't seem to like Big Mac romantically because it was kinda lazy writing that she didn't seem to despite all of the obvious facial expressions she kept giving Big Mac, Talk about mixed signals.
And don't get me started on Feather Bangs, I mean like so many in the fandom I too thought of him as basically the ponified Justin Bieber, He had a totally awesome singing voice and I especially loved that his 3 "Not-so-secret" admirers were based on the Bimbettes from Beauty and the Beast. But at least Feather Bangs didn't totally lose in the end. lol
As for the CMC's this may have been the 2nd time that they tried to "help" is somepony's love life, But just like the Hearts and Hooves Day incident they managed to sadly once again mess things up for Big Mac. I mean yeah their hearts were in the right place but just like with the Hearts and Hooves Day episode they went about it all wrong, But luckily they were able to help Big Mac and Sugar Belle get together in the end.
Anyway I overall enjoy the episode, Regardless of the hate it gets.
I can understand the out of place relationship thing. I mean, how did Big Mac even know, and also, we still don't know the name of the village TO THIS DAY!

In hindsight, something MLP: FIM was really good at was creating parody songs that are so silly and so over the top that you can't help but laugh at them. "The Showstoppers" had the "Cutie Mark Crusaders" song, where the girls tried (and failed) to become metalheads. "The Mane Attraction" had "The Spectacle" song by Lady Gaga's ponysona that was gloriously autotuned. And this episode has "The Battle For Sugar Belle", the beautifully cheesy country vs pop rap battle.
This episode just reminds me that I'm an oldest sibling. I'd be boiling mad if my youngest sibling tried hooking me up and all in my business. Apple Bloom is really insistent on getting a sister in law. Just ready to replace AJ

Great video as always! The Sunset pillow got me, again.
And with one episode, the headcanons were ruined. It was always going to be Fluttershy or Marble Pie, but Sugar Belle of all characters? I mean, I guess, it's a nice way to bring back that town, but it does kind of just come out of nowhere.
And then there's the ramifications of all this. Sugar Belle leaves that town to live with Big Mac in Ponyville after getting married, but shouldn't it be the other way around? Sweet Apple Acres always felt more like Applejack's farm to run, and it was established in canon that Apple Farms help boost communities and allow towns thrive, and that small town not only lost a business (one that fed people), but they lost the opportunity to have sustainable food that's locally sourced, and any chance of new residents coming to do business and eventually join in that community is now less. It may be on the edge of nowhere, but that town's now going to die in obscurity.
Tbf, Sugar Belle ran a bakery- sure, her pastries are technically food, but it's a bit of an overstatement to say she's feeding people. It's also entirely possible that other food-related businesses exist in the town too, we really haven't seen much of the town since Starlight left it but it's entirely reasonable to assume more people have been visiting the town (since I don't think Featherbangs and his admirers were there when the town was enslaved).
Big Mac moving in with Sugar Belle rather than the other way around would've been an interesting conclusion, though, now that you bring it up. I'd imagine the farm being pretty crowded since Apple Bloom and Rainbow Dash live there too

I was today years old when I realized that it’s currently more difficult than ever for me to be able to finish watching MLP FIM, and that I should’ve properly kept up with it until the end. So I would like ask anyone that reads my comment, is Amazon really the only remaining way to watch all of MLP FIM without “sailing the seas”?
