1. App lock to lock any application
2. PiP for WhatsApp and facebook video calls
3. call recording is a MUST HAVE in the times of fraud
What about more complicated tasks from Automator like "Set PDF Metadata" or "New PDF from Images"

I thought Split Screen was 2 full screen apps.
Shortcuts on iPhone is great since iOS is so limited. But on MacOS, I don't see the benefit.

I use Shortcuts to turn OFF smart plug when device is charged to 80%.
Why can't you make shortcut to open Finder in splitscreen? You can do it with some apps but not finder for some reason, its just not in the list of apps

Is there any way to distribute these without having to use iCloud? I made a shortcut for work that would be pretty useful, but of course nobody is signed into iCloud on work Macs. Also I guess not everybody has one. How to proceed?
this feature seems so cumbersome. Tbh putting apps side-by-side should be built into the operating system. Like how Windows and Ubuntu do (Most Linux distros do). I am aware of the macOS full-screen side-by-side feature. But that is not functional. And, why do I have to install 3rd party apps for every freaking thing? The dock is not functional at all. When you have 3 external monitors you can't what app is running on which screen (Microsoft's taskbar is so functional). Mission control sucks. MacOS could learn so much from Windows and Ubuntu. The hardware is great. But it's a million light years behind other major operating systems.
Unfortunately there's no personal automation on MacOs, using m3 pro

I've been using Shortcuts on Monterey Beta for many months. There are some things it does really well which I'm happy about, like control of HomeKit devices. But there are some things that are done very poorly, like the lack of a FOR loop or WHILE loop. So it's a mixed bag. It's frustratingly weak.
Especially when you consider that it’ll replace Automator.
Hi I got question. I am using my Pages as a songbook, where I typed all my song lyrics, but I got problem, trying to make group of songs, for concert to change songs easily but looks like apple pages doesn’t have option where you can make groups. Is there any advice maybe I can use Apple shortcuts to program something like that.

i'm life long windows user and using mac is intimidating for me, is it the same as using windows ? i like to swich to mac considering the m1 revolution but i'm affraid to loss me skils in windows that i bulit in years
Basically, Mac OS has been around longer than windows, not only that, windows kind of didn't matter much until windows 95 came out.. The only reason it's "intimidating" to you is because it's new, going from android to iOS vica versa, same thing, and you know that both will have many similarities... There are many interchangable/transferable skills between windows & MacOS, such as Finder & windows explorer, those are the "window managers" which you see when you have a window on the screen showing your documents folder etc... Both systems let you do very similar things, they are "desktop operating systems" after all... Yes, MacOS is easier, for example: there is ONLY 1 SETTINGS AREA. windows 10 has 2 setting areas (Settings & Control Panel), that is confusing and messy!!!!!! On MacOS it's simply called "System Preferences" -all in 1 place.

Will Automator workflows transfer over to Shortcuts? I have some Automator workflows which contain some AppleScript to run a certain Terminal command over and over to color each individual cell of a Numbers spreadsheet. I hope it will work in Shortcuts so that I can color my spreadsheets a lot faster on a new 16 inch MacBook Pro!

Once a shortcut has been created, you can activate Siri and say the shortcut’s name to run it. This way you’re not limited to keyboard shortcuts.

If your MacBook Pro runs macOS Monterey or newer, you have the Shortcuts app available.

As for locking, your Mac is locked with your login password. If you lock your Mac then all your apps are locked. If you share your Mac with another person, they should have their own user account.

if you want to see multiples files in MS Excel you can use three or four fingers and swipe down in your trackpad while you're in excel, it will show the differents tab in a same App
File menu > new window for multiple windows.
Ctrl + Down arrow to see open windows of current app.
Ctrl + Tab to switch between all apps.
Ctrl + up arrow to enter mission control.
Swipe up with three fingers on a trackpad to view mission control.
Swipe side to side [left or right] with three fingers to move between spaces like fullscreen apps and desktops.
Swipe side to side with two fingers on a magic mouse to move between spaces.
Use ctrl + left or right arrow key to move between spaces.

In Keyboard Maestro, you could open a URL in Safari in a new window, position the window on the left half of the screen, open another URL in a new Safari window, and position that window on the right half of the screen. I'm not sure if you can do all of that with just Shortcuts.

How do I alter the default "Video to GIF" to look for videos in other folders?
Currently, it only looks for videos in my 'Camera Roll/Photos' folder. But I want to make GIFs from videos in my 'Movies' folder.

Enjoying and learning from your videos. Can you help me figure this out? Recently, when pressed, my Left Command Key hides open apps on desktop (except for most recent app). I am no longer able to use the Left Command key as a modifier because of this. I did not see this command in keyboard settings (I restored keyboard settings to default and it did not correct my problem). In Mission Control, Keyboard & Mouse Shortcuts the settings are: Mission Control "Control Up Arrow" Application windows; "Control Down Arrow". Show Desktop: there are no shortcuts selected. How can I change this keyboard short cut so that I can use the Command key as a modifier key again? Thank you 😊

MACOS 12 IS HERE!!!
Hi Apple Support, I don't know if it's only me but I've noticed that Quicklook (=pressing the space bar) in Monterey for Finder is not working as it used to work in Big Sur (and earlier versions of MacOS). Instead of playing the audio or showing the picture in full size it kinda shows a very small picture or just an icon + some metadata about the file. Any idea if this will be addressed in an update or is this something the user can change in system preferences? I appreciate your time!
