Awesome review bro!!! I totally get what you mean about the excitement being gone. I used to wait for the mail carrier and if he had my package itself I would go crazy because it felt like Christmas morning. However that's gone now but I remain hopeful that a new product will rekindle that old spark.

Great review! Panel line that action man........hit it with a gray fine tip Gundam marker......shoulders would pop. Probably holding out for Toy World Ramjet.

I completely agree with your opinion on the masterpiece figures now. The last one i picked up was tracks at BotCon because tfsource had it on sale for $45. I love the figure and mine doesn't have issues with the backpack staying together, but it didnt WOW me like mp-10 or soundwave did. I, like you, used to be really excited for a new MP figure release but now it's just kinda "oh sweet". I'll think about it" Before it was "AWESOME! Definitely picking it up!"

I got all the igear seeker and I love you them. the head and knees are way to big for me to like this official ramjet. I love pp03j it gives the look I wanted from the cartoon. toyfactory set looks promising if it ever gets released. good video dude

Great review, really like your opinion. BTW you're lucky that you got one that was mounted correctly. mine had his shoulder arm swiffel mounted wrong :S and i've heard there are more people with this problem. I do like a comparison with the igear, since i think the igear did it better although he has problems standing on his feet

Personal I've always thought the MP seeker mold was slightly overrated and I been getting it since the OG blue/grey Starscream. I think "masterpiece" has become a brand name now and it's no longer a description of what to expect of the product. Man, I'd have loved to see you review MP-05 Megatron back in the day. Reviewers were all "this is awesome!!!" And I was all "the hells this lanky ass crap"

Lol at the skit, awesome review as usual, Skullface. I'm lucky to have dodged this bullet on this guy, I loathe the seekers and as a result don't own any of them but this guy and the coneheads I always loved, however I decided against it. I stuck with my gut instinct, my dislike for the mold and didn't buy it. And at the price it was going for, along with all these QC issues....I couldn't be happier I passed on him.

I'm 100% with you. To me the problem with the MP line is us because like Shockwave, fans say it's better because it's official just about all the reviews I watched said the same thing and because we buy them at the level of build quality they have been having since MP Ultramagnus because to me that's when they took steps backwards they don't seem to feel the need to make better figures or evolve like third party companies do. They depend on the name brand to sell it self. I got Ramjet and like Shockwave I was disappointed again but unfortunately with this character I don't have another option because the igear ones are way to expensive and the mold itself to me doesn't warrant that kind of price tag. Honestly I personally would love a third like Fanstoys taking the Coneheads on. Would be very interested to watch a comparison between the igear and this one. Again great and honest videos. Cheers

Another great review Mr. Skullface. Let me say this, if we pay $100 + for a figure, it should be damn near perfect. That MP you just reviewed goes for over $180 most places and has the issues you pointed out!? MP Shockwave has other issues... I find it unacceptable. Fans Project Insectacons have easily set my standard for MP, under $100, lots of die cast, well painted, and you can just see the love the engineers and designers took in making those figures. I think that is what is lacking now in the MP line, the love for the product. I could be wrong, but, that is my opinion, again, great review!

Great review, buddy! What ever dude that said "3rd party have become MP, and the MP have become 3rd party", he is right!! I could not have said it better myself! Ever since Tracks, the official MP line has been doing a nose dive for the worst... Its a shame! I used to sit with a new MP figure in my hands and be impressed by it for a long time, but ever since Tracks I've kind of taken the figure out of the box, transformed it to robot mode and put it in my MP display right away... I feel like the new designer is to blame, but then again, Im thinking that it might be the figure/character itself that sets some limits too. I don't know, buddy... Im hoping to see if there will be some changes when/if the new designer returns for duty. The MP line is not what it once used to be, that much I know for sure...

Hey Bobby I just discovered something you may or may not find useful. In robot mode the wing sections that hold the middle pods can be flipped upwards and can tab in to his back. That will fill in some gap and hold that back piece a little more securely

I just opened mine and took him out, my first impression was a groan, that is a far cry from the ahhhh that I used to get with MPs. With a price that rivals FT's Dinobots, I definitely feel like I grabbed my ankles on this one.

Sucks to say but I think you're right. It seems like every MP since Tracks has had that one thing that keeps it from being truly great. Sometimes it's lack of paint and other times its design choices. At least for me there hasn't been any catastrophic QC issues.

I still can't believe how much I got roped in to paying for these. I really wish I would have waited till they were being cleared out for $89. The MakeToys are better and cheaper. I really can't even imagine how much Takara would charge for actual new mold.

Definitely want to see the comparison vid. I actually stopped buying most Hasbro stuff because of them skimping on what made it fun to collect. The current lines, CW and RID feel like knock offs, and even the MP line feels weak on almost every level. The fact that the engineering went from figures like WFC Prime and RVS Jazz to what they're offering now, at higher prices, no less, is sort of insulting as a collector. I have thrown an astronomical amount of my money at Hasbro over the years, so I keep picking up new stuff here and there, only to be viciously reminded why I started buying exclusively 3rd party.

Good review as usual. Overall it looks nice enough but Takara really need to do better especially considering the price of one like this. Its seems they do a few interesting and good things per figure but somehow mess up the completed product. QC been poorer that it should be ATM. As transformers collectors we are lucky though we have 3rd party options, they also have faults but I'd take Wrestle (Terrible design on the mono piece flap), Gundog (many annoying to line up tabs) and Sphinx over Hot Rod (The Chroming is abysmal and I'm going to have to paint it), Tracks (there must be a better way to have done it, flying car Mode makes me smile though) or Iron hide (ok'ish for me)

Wow i'm starting to lose my faith in Takara, this for me is just a big mess and how they handled his head just kills it for me. Granted I was never intending to pick this guy up in the first place but if there was any thought on this guy, that ship has definitely sailed. I hope TT sort their shit out with their future releases. I've read a few complaints about Mp Shockwave, other than the lack of paint i'm pretty satisfied with him. As always another great review bobby. Also I for one would be keen to see a comparison of the two Ramjets.

After watching this review, I am still interested in getting Ramjet but only if he comes out as a 60-80 dollar Hasbro version. Considering how old this mold is, it is highway robbery how much they want to charge. It's just like $180 for Skywarp. Skywarp is my favorite seeker, but I'm not paying almost double for a slight retool on the Skywarp I already have. I agree completely on your assessment that new MPs just aren't that exciting anymore. You did convince me of one thing, though. Originally, I was going to pass on Wheekjack. Now I think I will buy him when he gets rereleased.

I've never been a big fan of the Coneheads, so I'm glad to skip this one. But I finally got in Hot Rod, and love the robot mode, car mode not so hot. Or really I can blame everything I don't like about it on the tiny tires. I scratched Rod's helmet instantly when I put it down. Nice job, Takara!

Reusing molds seems like their main business model nowadays... A comparison to the igear version would be cool. My only gripe with the igear version is that he can't stand in robot mode (except in 1 action pose), which is pretty huge. After all of the blue Bluestreaks with their huge paint problems on the hood, I have grown to expect that official MP products can easily have very major paint problems, Takara doesn't care. It's making me want to pass on all of their products across the bar regardless of any other factors.

Dear skull face, Did you get yours from BBTS and if so was it doubled taped? It looks like you got one with the shoulder joints assembled correctly. A few people have had there MPs with the shoulders on the wrong sides. I would like to see a Igear vs Takara ramjet comparison. Big fan and love your vids. ✌🏻

It's a sad day for me, too many masterpieces (of late) have errors or lack of paint/effort. Make Toys Hard Head is cheaper than this and is better (compared with materials used V cost). Feel dirty for saying that. Great review and I'd be keen on a comparison video (between Takara and igears version).

I'm happy with mine, all around it is pretty good. It hits the fun place for me. My biggest issues are that landing gear door popping off, one of those wing pieces on the back keep falling off on mine, and I REALLY hate the amount of pressure needed to fold down that same piece that gave you trouble. However, what bothers me less than I thought it would is the kibble. I generally hate kibble (which is one reason I think Ironhide is so perfect), but I was expecting it too be soo in the way here, and it turns out to be not worse than others. He seems just as articulated as the other seekers, almost more so, though I'm not sure how or why. Anyway, yes, we must see the Igear comparison video. Please do it up!

The problem is this mold. It is messy, clunky, and dated. This mold was pre MP10. They should scrap this mold and start over. It looks like we will have to wait for Maketoys do it right

+John Lant Oh Fuck, don't say that. Do you know for fact Maketoys is making seekers? You do realize that 6 new seekers is $1200 more dollars right? With Takara, at least we know it's $400 left and we are mufukin done with it. lol. That said, If I can figure out how to start my own third party company I will make oversized Seekers that can seat G.I. Joe figures. Y'all gonna need some deep pockets for six of those.

I definitely agree that the Masterpiece line is falling behind of late which is a real shame. Figures like Shockwave, Iron Hide, Hot Rod etc look good but don't wow you at all. I have been moving my collection around this weekend and each time i picked up a FansToys figure I got that wow factor and actually looked over it again, when I picked up the recent Masterpieces I just put them back down again without really looking. Don't get me wrong I do love the Masterpiece line but for me they need to really step it up because FansToys are crushing them right now.

Great review. I have the anime recolor of the first MP Starscream. I have had it in jetmode since i got it. It just can't stand very well. The new mold has that fixed but it still has so many issues that in my opinion they should have retired the mold right there and then and presented us with a new mold for the MP seekers.

a comparison to the I gear ramjet I would love to see. I honestly seen their ramjet and truthfully I want to support hasbro and takara, but when they don't put the efforts that igear did on their rendition of the character or other recent ones, it pains me to say it, I'm looking more and more at supporting third party companies instead of the crap the official company puts out. so that been said, if this is how they treat their fandom, we need to organize and show them by not buying their stuff any longer. it's pathetic.

I like mine. The neck/head hinge is much tighter on mine it seems, but it can still be buggy when posing/etc. No way it should cost that much, and I'm not happy about that, but at the same time....I'm not taking offers either. Ya know?
I do feel like an idiot for not knowing how the knee pads are supposed to sit - forward with the black shin parts sunk into his leg? Or pushed in like in plane mode? If so, why have that option? Gah.
