It's not narcissistic at all with how Mormonism works. They believe that the human soul exists in a limbo-like state before birth and that choosing not to procreate is basically holding them in a prison for a prolonged period of time. It's weird and dumb, but still quite consistent.
@@notabadword4026 But if working in childcare is stressful why would you become a parent. I work with kids with ASD and kids who are neurotypical. They are all a handful.

I notice couples who do not have children always appear to have more longer lasting and stable relationships.......anecdotal of course. In fact, I notice the men in child free couples tend to treat their wives or girlfriends like true partners......could be just me though. @@patricksaxon3983 Well, having a kid so It can be your future caretaker is a very shitty reason to have them in the first place. You can't regret not having something you didn't even want unless you changed your mind, which is rare in childfree people. @@patricksaxon3983 That's exactly the same situation for parents. You can totally regret having children and your children might not take care of you when you're old. Also, it's funny how parents call childfree people selfish and then proceeded to use children as their retirement plan.
@@patricksaxon3983 why do people assume that a person will be alone if they don’t have children? There’s thousands of elderly people rotting away in old folks homes, and have several kids but yet no one is there for them. It all depends on how one chooses to live their life

I was raised Mormon. If this man is anything like most Mormon men, I can 1,000% guarantee that he does almost nothing to help his wife with five kids. Mormon men like to take the title of “head of the household” and oftentimes when they have a kid, nothing in their life changes. The LDS culture puts intense pressure on women to drop everything (including college education) to be stay at home moms. It’s easy for him to sit there and talk about how wonderful his kids are when I’m confident he does nothing to help raise them.
I’m 30 and at 27 I decided to stay single, unmarried and childless for the rest of my life. I simply do not want to deal with the kind of physical and emotional responsibility that come with being a mother. I feel the same way about marriage and relationships. I have a loving family that consists of my grandmom and my parents. They’re my everything and all I need.
I see. Please find something to fufill you. Like a passion you can make better or a goal you want to achieve. I respect your relationships with your family, but you need an outlet for yourself as well.
So, even if you were in love with someone, they loved you back and you shared similar opinions and life goals when it comes to topics that you consider relevant, would you still prefer being single or would you at least prefer a relationship with them?
Why do parents think we’re missing out ?? On what even ? Shat diapers, being woken up at 3 am, puke ?? I could be in Bali for 3 weeks and 2 more wherever I want every year, that would be missing out to me😂

They should have put in the wife instead of the man (or maybe both, well that probably be intimidating to the women that is childfree), because that would make more sense. Even if the father loves his kids and was very helpful, it is still different for the woman who birthed 5 kids. It’s something that both women could talk about. But it was good to see both views
How do you know that she would not encourage having children? Many women experience the rewards of having children, especially when they have many children, not less or not any children.
Nothing he said seems to imply that, at all. You can still by a condom if you want. Anyone who says "abortion is sometimes okay" like he did is not into "forced birth". That's an absurd claim. I love this chick, her faces are on point! Also if he wanted kids so bad.... why didn’t he also adopt or foster....? Like.... you can’t win with people like this
It's probably because of his religion. Idk much about mormonism, but there may be stigma when it comes to adopting kids just like there is in christianism (mormonism bases most of their principles in christianism), because it doesn't follow the somewhat silent expectation of raising only biological kids. That expectation doesn't even need to be religious, society as a whole somewhat frowns upon people who don't follow a typical path. It could also be because they aren't comfortable with telling their adopted child that they're adopted, which could make the child jealous of his/her "siblings" because they know who their biological parents are and never had to deal with questions like "Where are my true parents? Are they dead or have they abandoned me?". There's usually less drama envolved if you don't adopt a child.
First of all, Mormons are Christians. Second of all, Mormons adopt a tooooon! And they actually get sealed in the temples as families, so there is no difference whatsoever to them on whether their kid is adopted or not, it's their kid and will be for the rest of eternity.

I decided to be childfree from a very young age (around 11 or 12). In my culture, having a husband and children defines the value and status of a woman. People tend to look down on the women who dont want to get married or have kids, so it seems like almost everyone around me throws stones at me and calls me selfish and useless. Even some people blame me for destroying the economy and humanbeings. However, I'm trying to be environmentally friendly and not add more waste and humans to this polluted and overpopulated world. I know that I'm not worthless and selfish but sometimes get a bit tired to fight this constant battle with people even my loved family members.
People have kids to save themselves, they don't have kids to give them life. And I think thats ridiculous. I grew up with parents that had us because they were supposed to and depended on us for everything because we were their comfort, but they weren't really ours. My parents dont know much about what makes me me.
Not if you can care for them. And as for the world...it doesn't matter to ppl who want kids. They just want kids and the world be damned. And there's nothing wrong with that.
Wish they would’ve have another woman talk to her. And maybe someone non religious.. I feel like there are questions to be asked and answered about having babies that are really tied to being pregnant and giving birth to them, it changes your body forever and that would’ve been an interesting discussion to touch upon where both parties understood that. I just see too many guys who want a shit load of children because the physical process of it and the child rearing responsibilities don’t fall on them..
They chose a man because he's most likely to be less judgemental and critical of her. When it comes to childfree women, the people that are most judgemental of them are there fellow women. 💀
The only person who ever berated me and called me unnatural and selfish for not wanting kids was a dude whose wife I was friends with. He was utterly disgusted. No woman has come close to caring as much as he did.
It´s stupid that we have father of many kids in this, the mother should be here. She is with the kids, bacause once woman has kids she is not free anymore.
I think they both did a good job! Being so opposite and views they both were able to talk through and be excepting of each other's differences. For me this is one of the better interviews.
You're a child free woman, who was able to be sterilized in Indiana?! that in itself is a MIRACLE! (I know you said it took 11 years but still, that's incredible to me.) My cousin with Endo in IN, cannot convince a Doctor to sterilize her, because she's not 40, & hasn't had children. It disgusts me so much to think they prefer her to be in pain & able to procreate, rather than just help fix her pain, & let her live life as she intends. While I don't live in IN anymore, I'm so so grateful my Doc here wasn't that way when I asked for my tubal last November.
Hello! Lady from the video here- has your cousin looked into the doctor list on reddit? Under r/childfree there's a list of doctors in the US, broken down my state, who are friendly or at least receptive to the CF lifestyle. That's how I found the doctor who sterilized me in '18. Best of luck!
I like how she compares herself to an old woman. It helps me understand her attitude towards life. As a mother of 4 , pregnancy and child bearing was an interesting mix of youthfulness, and maturity. I don’t associate maturity with old age because I think experiences are what makes someone wise, yet I understand what she means by saying she’s always been “ an old woman” .
If a woman doesn't want kids and kids annoy her she should def not have them and not be shamed for it. Period. Full stop. I also think climate change isn't a good reason not not have them but to each his own. Every person has to live their own life for them. No right or wrong answers.
I like this type of discussions because there is not right or wrong, just opinions. Feel free to have your own opinion, you are the only one living with it.
This is not a fair discussion. Should be a conversation between the left girl and the mother of 5, and discussing what she's lost in opportunity costs and how it'd affected her body (health wise)
Everyone is jumping on Cameron like he's a total jerk. He was respectful of her stance and listened. He seems like a great guy. I truly don't understand why people are attacking him...
I don't have an opinion on whether a man should have a vasectomy, because it's their body and they can do what they like with it. Plus, even if I did have an opinion, it's not valid, because I have zero experience with having a p*nis or dealing with health conditions that men go through. Similarly, men should not entertain any sort of opinion on whether a woman should have children or not. They've never had a womb or a v*gina or have gone through pregnancy themselves. Plenty of women out there want kids, and some don't. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Like mullets, segways, acid jeans, Nicholas Cage, or the work of Florence Foster Jenkins, some things just aren't meant for everyone to like. Being a mother is one of those things.
That was a really nice normal open minded conversation between two healthy adults that know how to have a conversation and discuss differences respectfully and that's what this world needs more of. This should be taught in schools and universities literally worldwide in every language. Plus he is an actual real father when he stated he actually likes and enjoys and wants and prefers to spend time with his kids, that's what a child needs from both parents to be normal and healthy.
There's so many kids who need families. I'm not interested in my own. I may decide to adopt when I'm older, but I know that I absolutely do not want biological children. If you want kids, have kids. If you don't want kids, don't have kids period.
"Even if they could help save it?" The issue to understand is our planet is not entitled exclusively to our species just because we have managed to invade it on every scale imaginable...

Even some people blame me for destroying the economy and humanbeings. However, I'm trying to be environmentally friendly and not add more waste and humans to this polluted and overpopulated world.
I recommend reading "Better never to have been. The harm of coming into existence" by David Benatar, one of the most famous antinatalists
Five kids in Brooklyn? He is rich or upper middle class.
Upper middle class, semi rich. A lot of white people live well in New York.
Even in the tense moments they stay so respectful 😥 that's beautiful man
Everyone is jumping on Cameron like he's a total jerk. He was respectful of her stance and listened. He seems like a great guy. I truly don't understand why people are attacking him...
I agree. And this is coming from a bitter, child free by choice ex-Mormon. I was surprised by how much I liked him.
This was really nice to watch. Its lovely to see 2 people who know how to have a civilized conversation about things they disagree on
I’ve stopped talking to men simply because they wanted kids and it just wasn’t for me I have better things to do
So nice to see people with such different views have a reasonable, respectful talk about it.
Plus he is an actual real father when he stated he actually likes and enjoys and wants and prefers to spend time with his kids, that's what a child needs from both parents to be normal and healthy.
nope, nope, nope! no uterus, no opinion!
Absolutely LOVED their conversation, and how well chosen they seemed to be to represent their different chosen lifestyles!
I'm childfree, but it's not for any philosophical or environmental reasons. Just not my thing.
Good for you
There's so many kids who need families. I'm not interested in my own. I may decide to adopt when I'm older, but I know that I absolutely do not want biological children.
If you want kids, have kids. If you don't want kids, don't have kids period.
"Even if they could help save it?"
The issue to understand is our planet is not entitled exclusively to our species just because we have managed to invade it on every scale imaginable... Would it be such a radical notion to think every non-human living being might be just as essential to save the planet and we can help by reducing our carbon footprint
I appreciate his attitude, at least he was acknowledging what she had to say...
100%
This women is on point ☝️, she has a valid point ..each to there own.. do you and do what makes you happy 😊
Religious and anti abortion , no surprise there.
This was a nice conversation. They were both very respectful of each others ideas despite coming from different places. I wish more people were like this.
Sorry pal we can’t miss out on something weI have never experienced, kids are overrated, my humble opinion
I love how open he is and non judgemental, good chat :)
