Sandra Bullock's German IS impressive. I'm German and a teacher and I know how difficult this language is. Because of the extensive grammar it's one of the hardest language to learn and she sounds great.
@@LoneWombat2126well elvish is a construct of a few real life languages some of which would be native to him so a lot of ancient Nordic languages like Icelandic Swedish and danish possibly even Norwegian and he combined this with the Celtic language of Welsh .
you never took a foreign language in school? I studied French in school and college, and while not fluent, I think I can have a decent length conversation with someone
Children who are brought up in a bilingual household, or are subjected to other languages at an early age, develop a part of the brain responsible for learning other languages that goes dormant in most of us. My brain is definitely not wired for a second language, as I've lived in Austria for over 20 years (I'm 69), and still find German very difficult to speak fluently.
Me too. I was surprised about the Alfred Enoch Portuguese interview and as someone who knows a little bit of Portuguese, he sounded sexy, but at the same time, it makes sense since his mom is Brazilian.
I was recently in Europe. We obviously spoke Afrikaans to each other, because we are from South Africa. At first I was shocked when strangers started speaking to us in Afrikaans. We met South Africans in Barcelona, Paris, Prague and Istanbul. Please tell Charlize that there are still a lot of people speaking Afrikaans around the world.😅😅😅
Think the most shocking thing from this list (for me at least) is the guy whose father is Brazilian/German. An actor being multilingual isn't that shocking.
Tom Hiddleston does not speak greek by any means!!! The excerpt he reads (not well enough may I add) in the interview is in fact ancient greek from the play Electra by Sophocles which he most likely learned phonetically when he performed the role of Orestes years ago.
Yeah. I like him very much, but his Spanish is kinda weak too. Perhaps the French is better, since he's British and is not uncommon for brits to speak the language.
I think English speakers tend to forget that French, Italian, Spanish and Portugese are similar enough that if you speak one of them fluently, it will be very easy to learn another.
If you're able to can you do a part 2 where other celebrities have more obscure languages that they taught themselves like Filipino, Samoan, Polynesian, Somali and Cambodian but I hope you know what I mean by other more obscure languages or is something that affect?😅
Yeah, but the way GK and ET speak French is very different sounding to the ear that doesn’t understand the language (namely me. 😁) Emma’s sounds very posh… and Gene Kelly’s sounds like what one might hear on the borders, or in the countryside…. Just an observation… no disrespect to either awesome actor or amazing language! 🙌🏼
Gene Kelleys American accent shines through his French. Emma Thompson doesn't sound posh, she sounds educatedly French. She's very fluent. It's a joy to listen to.
I’m from South Africa and we start with English lessons from the age of 9 in grade 3 . It is impossible that Charlize started learning English from 19 years old. About 75 % South Africans are bilingual and with that I mean that you speak your Mother tongue and then the other language will be English. It is compulsory for South Africans to do English until grade 12/ Matric/ final school year.
@@Angel-rq3pi She is 49 years old and I’m older than her. I’m a teacher and we start with our second language in grade 3. I started doing English since grade 3.
Kristin Scott Thomas speaks fluent French because before she became a successful actress she worked in France as an au pair. She worked in France for several years so having a good command of French is very important. Helen Mirren is an international actress and has travelled extensively. So aside from English she needs to speak one or two other international mainstream languages. She is fluent in French. Gemma Arterton also speaks fluent French. She has done several films in France speaking completely in french. Antonio Banderas speaks both in English and in his native Spanish language.
2:56 Mark Zuckerberg speaks Mandarin. He's not "fluent" in it at all. Props to him for being able to learn a language spoken by close to two billion people around the world 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂 Now, we Know!!!, The AFFLECK GUY!! CAN SPEAK SPANIOLS FLUENTLY😅😅😅😅, THAT IS THE ONE REASONS, HE MARRIED THE DIVA!! FROM THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA!!
Gene Kelly's french was simply terrible, i mean he spoke correctly but the accent, omg, it was the worst. The best were Jodie Foster, Timothee Chalamet and even Emma Thompson for french, but also Sandra Bullock in german, Christopher Walz as a multilingual and several others. Serena Williams's french was so terrible, she couldnt express herself and the accent was off. The poliglots were the best in all the languages they spoke, while those like Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Bradly Cooper and others were just trying their best without much success. I wouldnt consider many of these actors as talented in speaking other languages, except for the obvious talented ones. The rest of them are just trying and making their fans laugh.
Yes, but for Americans, I'd say speaking a second language is impressive. Technically, people speak English almost everywhere. So why bother learning another language

Freddie Highmore’s, as he was multi lingual. He knew more languages than any of the other celebrities, and could switch between them easily
Holly Robinson Peete (21 Jumpstreet) Speak French.
I'm envious of polyglots. I was especially impressed by Emma Thompson's great pronunciation.
She's really good at it. Plus' she's a really nice person.

Viggo gots extra credit for speaking elvish 😂
Viggo is a polyglot. I love it and him. ❤✌🏻👩🏻🦰👍🏻
But that is his real native language. 🤣
Go Viggo! Watertown NY High School class of 76 and St Lawrence University!

@@Omar-wq9dz I took French in school, but barely remembered any phrases, so took a few refresher classes recently.

Christopher Lee did interviews in German, French and Italian.
Patrick Buchau who played Chase's dad on House: Dutch, Frisian, Russian, Spanish, French, Italian, English and German. Fluent in all.
All celebrities who don’t have English as their first language have to do interviews in a foreign language like all the time….
Glad someone said this 😊
Alfred Enoch speaking Portuguese, Ana de Armas and Christina Aguilera speaking Spanish, and Camilla Mendes and Kat from Europhia speaking Portuguese.
There's so many bilingual or trilingual celebrities. I'd love to be able to speak another language myself.

It sounds a bit like dutsch. Are these languages related?
“We are focusing on not their native tongue” second person in “JUST KIDDING!”
Imagine you’re the interviewer and Chris Hemsworth starts speaking in your language. I would collapse.

Not entirely true about Audrey Hepburn her father was actually of Irish heritage her mother was Dutch
Alfred Enoch - Portuguese and Spanish
K let's be honest here. Zuck's Mandarin sucks.
You could delete the " 's Mandarin" and that statement would still be true
I aleays forget about these
Siouxsie Sioux speaks English of course, but also perfectly French and I think Spanish too
How can you test your fluency professionally? I want to learn a couple of languages and know when im complete (in a sense.)
Doing a test... If you get B2+ or C1 you are very fluent speaking the language
Go to a place that speaks the language and see how well you get along and what the locals say.
I've seen Bradley Cooper doing interviews in French. How'd he get left off this list?
He is number 6 on this list.
So many bi lingual celebs in the world

Gweneth Paltrow is speaking French in the first clip
It's amazes me that people in the US thinks this impressive. The education level must be low.
In Europe most people speak at least 2-3 languages.

Viggo Mortensen can also speak Elvish 😬
I'd be pleasantly surprised if I see an actor speak in Tagalog (Filipino native language) or Mongolian. Those are rarely spoken languages.
