Paperlike can’t even keep up with orders. Maybe if they send some resources to production instead of marketing... 🤷🏾♂️ I ended up buying a much cheaper alternative at Amazon and its fantastic.
As a iPad Pro user, I'm glad there's some competition. But really its about how you use your device and what ecosystem you're most comfortable with. Now any artist that is not an apple person by any means doesn't have to force themselves to get an iPad to do all their art on the go.
the $ 300 difference between the iPad pro and the Galaxy Tab is quite a bit of money. I think it would be something that really matters to me, especially since I'm not in the Apple ecosystem. On Android we have very good drawing applications right now, the screen is very good for content consumption, the speakers are very good, expandable memory, All that makes it an excellent option.
Even if you were to make the prices exactly the same S7 is still the better device which is why it is hilarious to see the reactions of all the apple fanboys
@@goochipoochie not exactly. Ipads still have the best anti glare coating and the screens get brighter - makes a big difference outside. Samsung improved the performance of the s-pen in its own apps but for overall use the apple pencil will be better optimized to work in all apps. Apps like OneNote are much better on the ipad which has a better selection of note taking and basically all other apps I have an ipad pro 10.5 and tab s6 to compare. I still prefer the s6 but ipads do have their advantages
Chris Xu pretty sure this gen the Samsung’s are brighter 424nits on the iPad vs 484 on the auto mode on Samsung’s. Also it’s Oled so in the dark the screen is better (less bleed and bloom) and offers superior accuracy and contrast. Idk why anti glare is so important to a few Apple users. Like when I owned my 2018 iPad Pro, I never sat in the SUN to edit video or draw. That seems like a non issue argument. A phone I understand. A tablet? Go inside if you’re doing “real work”. I don’t know any artists sitting outside to make their commercial digital artwork.
@@chuboasshippo2181 never seen any antiglare coating reviews when the apple pencil is unusable without a matte protector because of its lack of traction, and the matte protector ruins the screen. Check reviews on multiplatform app comparison, ipad lags on all of them and s7 comes out on top ( reviewers passed it off as optimisation issues, which is blatantly disingenuous of them ) Till s6 it was a better vfm pick but still lagged in areas like pen latency, with s7 it's the best pick even if infinite money
The very fact that it COMES WITH THE PEN puts it above the Ipad for me. Edit: thank you all for the comments. But honestly, it ain't that serious. Use what you prefer and enjoy it.
Eh I actually like how apple sells the pen separately. This way I didn’t have to buy a new pencil when upgrading from 2018 to 2020 iPad Pro. Also, it takes away some of the price for those who don’t need the pencil.
I appreciate your comparison. I am also really glad to hear that Apple is finally starting to have some real competition. I hope at this point that the popularity of the S7 grows significantly so that companies, such as Affinity, put in the money & time to make their apps available on Android. Cheers.
Jescae Jul Saavedra This. It’s hard to ignore the security flaws in Android and how easy it is to bypass the store so effortlessly. App devs gotta eat too.
Serox M. I think procreate devs would more likely develop on the macs with apple silicon than develop on android. As of now they're really focusing on ios. Clip studio is more than enough. Sadly, as a person who works professionally doing illustration and video editing, I can't use more pro apps like affinity photo and designer. Or lumafusion and garageband alongside procreate on the tab s7
Micro SD memory cards, even the fastest one from Samsung, are much slower than built in internal memory. So, its much better to buy higher memory tablets, than to add sd cards after. SD cards are slow... and you dont want that in high performance tablet
@@stefyyy1994 For example, the Samsung microSD card has read speeds of 530MB per second and the write speeds of 170 MB per second. According to Samsung, the high-performance transfer speeds of its 256GB microSD cards is as fast as SATA solid-state drives. And that's not even the main reason why I want expandable storage. I like to have a RAID configuration for data redundancy. That's only possible with two physically independent memory chips. + it's always more affordable to add additional storage space after purchase.
I think was opportunity for an "Other" category where you go over things like Dex, usability with other peripherals (like monitors), file management and sharing. This is where Samsung has really taken advantage of Android's strengths and you really feel the constraints of iPadOS. This is an area that's not always highlighted but could be a differentiator similar to how software generally goes to iPadOS and iOS because of major favorites like Procreate and iMessage, respectively.
I find most tech reviewers stuck in their little niches.. they hardly use stuff they review, now they are talking to a more knowledgeable audience and they don't seem to make sense, Ipad or, besides being beautiful and good with procreate... it's very inferior to android's versatility !!
It's just that many tech reviewers know very little about Samsung's software and android in general. They say something isn't there when it's actually there. We can't blame them, they're used to Apple's software. I guess we always have to keep teaching them in the comment section. I'm even running Kali Linux on my tablet and so many other things iPads just lack but reviewers refuses to learn.
@@vervetech9395 Wait... can you actually install a full Linux image on the Tab S7? NOW i'm 100% surely going for that! Did you have to do anything tricky to install it or was it a simple straightforward procedure?
Exactly. These reviewers are always biased towards Apple. They never show how flaw an Apple device is. To me, Apple products are the worst product n they are never user friendly. Apple gives people what Apple wants not what an user wants. It's like just a fcking show piece n good for nothing. In terms of usability n versatility, Android is light years ahead.
Unfortunately here in Brazil with the price of an iPad + Pencil + Keyboard, on its best config, I can buy an used car, or the entry funding of a house, its toooo expensive. Probably there is a partnership of Apple and Procreate, because not even on windows we see this app. So, I hope android developers and samsung give more atention to digital artists on this platform, cause Apple... definitely its not for everyone here.
Brad: C'mon... The S-Pen comes in the box, but it has a rubber tip (which is replaceable) and is a little lighter... But if you spend and extra $130 for the Apple Pen and add a $40 Screen protector on top a much more expensive device it will be better...? REALLY?
Exactly. Also about the weight, I think it would be very easy for Samsung to make it heavier. Maybe Apple Pencil's weight is due to the tech used within it? I prefer it to be a bit heavier too, but after using it for a little while I don't really notice it. For Samsung, you can actually use different tips. I don't know about this new S7+, but for the previous ones, there are three different tips available.
@@tolula9927 Basically if I remember properly, the apple pencil uses terrible blue tooth, while the samsung screens use the more traditional and professional wacom style of doing things. That is why palm rejection will be flawless on android in no time, while it will stay mediocre in ios :/
To Lula Weight within pens isn’t a big deal, imo. When I got into Digital Art back in 2014 I started using Wacom Pen tablets. Their styluses tend to be light. Now, I mainly use iPad Pro w/ Procreate. The Apple Pencil is definitely heavier, but you get used to it after a while. Wacom Pro Pen 2 is light af, still a Top Stylus. I’m very happy to hear Android is making good competition now!
Idk, you always say that the Apple pencil has better palm rejection but as someone who set their single tap gesture to the eyedropper on Procreate and gets the bg color picked up every few minutes, I know VERY well that the palm rejection isn't perfect. Maybe you don't notice it as much when that gesture is set to draw though. I also have a galaxy note phone and once you get the pen close enough to the screen that you see the little cursor, the palm rejection is 100% perfect. You couldn't tap with your finger even if you tried and that gives me more peace of mind.
You go into procreate, wrench prefs, gestures, general and disable touch actions..that way fingers will only preform gestures and no need to use a drawing glove
@@Guitarbarella I prefer to set single tap/finger to the eyedropper because it's faster than tap and hold. As a painter, I color pick constantly and I find that this is the most comfortable method for me.
It's true about what you said, cause I use some other drawing tablet for my laptop to make some sort of animation but, it really hard to move when we want to change the color. I prefer galaxy s pen because when I want to pick color it comfortable and not distracted by others things (our fingers) because when we use pen, it stick only to touch with pen only, it's comfortable. Anyway I used galaxy note 5 (I know you want to say me old cause use it) I also do some artworks using it. It hard for me to do it cause the screen to small. But I'm only a highschool student, so I cannot afford 5000 sheets of paper money for the new tablet. 😂
You shouldn't feel superior in the first place 😂😂, even if Samsung wasn't good apple wouldn't still be able to monopolize the market, they still need to take down the surface line though not that popular as apple's
@Sipho Thenjwayo Yeah, DeX is a major reason why I'm thinking about eventually replacing my Surface Pro with the Galaxy Tab S line. Really been loving the functionality on my 2017 Note 8. But I want Samsung to first do the following: - *Bring* *Back* *Linux* *on* *DeX!* Or better yet, enable the native installation and running of Linux Desktop apps in DeX mode. It makes much more sense for this kind of form factor and would be a great gateway for full-fledged Desktop apps on the Galaxy Tab line. Plus, as Apple demonstrated the full-fledged macOS Big Sur running on their 2 years old A12Z Bionic chipset from their iPad Pro line, Linux on DeX will certainly be required to compete with that level of versatility. - Add a second USB C port or full-sized USB A port for USB accessories while charging. - Add a 3.5mm headphone jack for use while in flights or while our wireless headphones are charging. If they implement all of the above, it'll be the first Android tablet I'll ever purchase. Until then, sticking with my Surface Pro 2.
Samsung's *BEEN* nailing it, especially with their latest phones, like the Samsung Galaxy S10+ and S20! The camera quality and functionality on their latest phones make ME feel superior. Even my iPhone loving friends can't deny how amazing my camera quality is and how high tech my phone is. 😌
I’m just glad Android is now in a position to compete with Apple just so that Apple can continue to innovate just to stay relevant. It can’t rest on its laurels as the “best tablet in the market” for too long without Android lighting a fire under their butt and surprising them with better hardware.
@@damiangardiner1318 except for the fact that the snapdragon 865 and the a13 deliver about the same performance with the snapdragon being better. Who knows about a14 that just came out. So no they aren't leaps and bounds. In fact they might be falling behind.
Benjamin Garrard surely you jest. Believe what you want. I’m neither an Apple or android person as I use both but the 5nm Apple chips will bury Qualcomm chips.
I dont think their tablets should have an SD-Card slot of any type. But their Macbooks having only 2 USB-C ports for a “powerful and slim factor”? Nope.
Little Bendy they should. It makes transferring large amounts of files to a non Apple computer so much easier. Transferring through the port usually only gets you usb 2.0-3.0 speeds on a lot of devices. Some micro SD cards can read and write faster than that. Not to mention you don’t even need to transfer the files to the computer, you can simply access them on the sd card itself.
Happy to see you're sticking with this. I'll be very interested in how your opinion might change one way or the other over time. The price thing isn't a little jump, tho. Cheaper to buy, then you add the pen price. That's about $300 difference. I am curious that you never mentioned Dex? To me the keyboard attachment makes a lot more sense in an ecosystem I can attach to a larger monitor at times, and have a desktop like experience. You don't ever see value in that?
DeX is not relevant to 99% of tablet users, but if it works for you then the Tab S7+ may be the best choice. Most of us buy a tablet for tablet use, a minority add a keyboard and use as a desktop replacement but neither Android nor iOS are the best choice if you have a PC workload. My Tab S6 is a secondary device and hundreds of millions are like me and have both a laptop and tablet as that is the most efficient choice.
I've been using this for about two weeks now and still loving it. I didn't mention dex here but I did talk about it in my full review last week. Basically I need to get keyboard cover before I get the full Dex experience but I do plan on following up with a more detailed laptop replacement video in a few weeks
@@thebradcolbow Can't wait for the followup review, especially on how you feel about CSP use instead of Procreate. Perhaps a Udemy course on CSP? Also, if I remember, you use an Android phone so how that ecosystem works for you.
Honestly, that's the reason I want the s7 tab or tab+ but perhaps on the relevancy of digital art and what have you, I feel op was very impartial for the most part but I really like dex myself and i do use it from time to time but on a note 9 and if there are more adopters, then perhaps we will see even more improvement in it and maybe Google would look at it and say wait, it works ? why would they give it away when they have a bunch of sheep that will just pay for anything they have been get old tech for years and celebrate about it when android has hat it for years
Bought the Apple Ipad yesterday and I can't believe how good the pen feels and how intuitive Procreate is (I've never used a touch interface to draw before.) I definitely don't regret my choice, but I am excited to see other companies give Apple a run for their money. Diversifying the options can only help artists in the long run.
only advantage the ipad has is maybe the pencil and software. even that is subjective people just cant admit samsung has made a better tablet than apple all the have too say negative about the s7 is the ecosytem which is not a samsung ptoblem
Writing this from my fresh out of the box S7+ and have shelved my ipad pro 12.9 (second gen) lol. I really like the feel of the pen so far! Also, there will be a free update soon that will enable you to use the s7 as an additional screen on Windows 😉
The pen being included was a good move on Samsung's part! The hardware looks great. I think that the developers will fix some of these painting apps to work better now that they have a proper Android tablet to run them on 😄
7:23 Brad just nailed making a commercial feel like part of the video rather then the commercial pulling the viewer out of the video. Great job. I’ve only seen this done once or twice successfully on UA-cam.
Hi Brad. I'm living in Malaysia and the S7 has been launched with a deal which includes the official keyboard (worth over 200bucks) the S-pen (obviously), 128gb sd card, 6m youtube premium, and 2yr warranty at no extra cost. Thats 600 bucks all in. Thats awesome

Thank you for your review! I like ipad, in fact I still loved using my ipad pro 2017, but since my main computer is PC and my phone is android, I think I'll go with tab s7+ for upgrade. It's just a pain to transfer files between ipad and PC/android, and the ipad storage price bump is just... crazy expensive, how came an $1000 pro tablet only have 128GBs of non upgradeable storage, only in apple world. Also, since my phone is android, it just more makes sense to get an android tablet, so no need to pay same apps twice, and similar user experience too. Of course if you are already in apple ecosystem, I think going with ipad is the more logical choice.
I have never liked the Apple OS, whether it been on the smartphone or computer. So it is always the other option for me when it comes to stuff like this. I'm going to get the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, it is the tablet that I have been waiting for.

Jescae Jul Saavedra Dex offers a convenient way to access completed files, and send them. With full browser support it makes sending files and whatnot far easier. It’s not crucial for artists, but I can see a lot of situations where having android +dex as a file management system would be leagues ahead of apples.
RiceCube Tech RiceCube Tech I can already do that with safari on iPad because of full desktop class sites. I use google drive and onedrive on safari. I can send files by dragging and dropping. I’m late I know. I’ve had both a Samsung tablet and right now have an IPad and honestly, I loved them both. Drawing experience on both of them was phenomenal and funnily enough the Samsung tablet I had was the first entry (tabs6 lite) which was half the price of my iPad Air lol. Honestly I think functionality wise they’re both fantastic, just kinda comes down to what programs you use, I had infinitePainter and procreate and enjoyed both. In fact I would say infinitePainter is the Samsung version of procreate, but procreate imo is a little more responsive and has a few more bells and whistles than IP ( from what I’ve seen and done so far) but they’re both still really good.
The big sell for the Tab S7+ for me is the Samsung Dex mode exclusive to Samsung devices. It does a really good job emulating a desktop-like environment and I think its the perfect mix of creativity, work, and play.

i love your reviews, but frankly i know so many artists boycotting adobe for their predatory subscription services of "you dont and will never own this thing you pay 300 dollars for and also that old version you bought 6 years ago that you should own? Not yours either" that i dont actually think apple having these is a bonus in any way
I hate subscription services of any kind, I rathe pay a few hundred dollars than paying for something forever. -maybe thats why I use a prepaid simcard, and buy most things upfront...
Your reviews have been really helpful in me making my choice - Samsung gave me 30% off plus $300 for my old note 10 plus, so the 256gb s7 tab plus for $350 was a perfect deal for art and taking notes in class. The pen experience for the Lenovo x12 just wasn't up to snuff. I was seriously considering the iPad, but I just cannot get over their blatantly evil, giggling contempt for their customers, and how their corporate behavior flatly makes the world a worse place for absolutely no good reason. So while the devices are similar, only one of these brands still needs suicide nets around their Chinese factories and litigates viciously against right to repair. That was the final straw for me.
I recently got my tab s7 after contemplaiting getting either The s7 or an ipad so i thought id give my feedback so far😂 if you're an artist I'd recommend getting the iPad simply because I think the pen will suit you better and if you just want a device to study and takes notes (my case) the tab s7 is really worth it! The tip of the s pen is VERY thin (which is actually my preference when it comes to everyday pens) so that's why I think that it wouldn't really suit an artist! Also the lack of good drawing apps! Now if you're a student, you won't regret getting the tab s7! I'm so happy with my purchase! It honestly couldn't be better and it was beyond my expectations! Hope I could help
Hey Brad, consider the fact that S-pen has no need for a matte screen protector because of superior traction and much better feeling tip so you never have a lose-lose situation like ipad pro between mitigating an uncontrollably slippery pen or a super grainy screen courtesy matte protectors I would say tab S7+ wins overall
Also s-pen replacement tips cost less than 1$ for a 4 pack with remover tool included from China. Durability is not an issue considering the benefits that amazing Felt x Brush pen hybrid feeling tip brings. Seriously people need to go to a samsung store and use that pen to really realise how insanely good it is
I always put a protector on my tablets, even my Tab S6 as it protects the device and gives a much better feel than glass, so I do not agree there, a matte screen on both probably makes it very close and quite subjective.
@@jomsies you are wrong. The entire reason matte protector is needed is because apple pencil has no texture or traction S-pen has great traction, it feels like a mix of brush pen tip and felt tip which i will anyday pick over apple pencil + matte's rough, noisy, inconsistent feel ( and i haven't even factored in how badly that matte protector degrades screen quality )
Wait did I miss the battery life portion? The main reason to get one of these is because it's portable and battery life sounds like an important thing to consider.
Even though the Apple Pencil will not work when it dies, you won’t find yourself w/ a dead pencil b/c it is attached charging to the side of your iPad 9 times out of 10. I don’t see much of a difference here w/ the Samsung Pen, but damn that’s good nonetheless.

I know this is off topic for this particular channel, but since you already mentioned gaming: if the tablet will be used mostly for work, personally i would go S7. @@seoulnazlee The Microsoft Office apps do scale up very well in DeX mode, but unfortunately at the moment, Microsoft still hasn't enabled multi-window support for their office apps. Samsung's apps like E-Mail, Samsung Internet, etc. perfectly support multiple instances, so, it's not a limitation of DeX nor Android, it's just Microsoft that is slow to implement it. As a work around, you could use the Word/PowerPoint/Excel app for one document, then the Office app for another document. I really want to abandon Apple but as a college student, looking something up on my iPad and being able to immediately continue on my MacBook is priceless
i think folding devices and also Microsoft making the surface duo is going to make optimizing for tablets a lot more common in the next few years on android
I have to disagree that its the iPad is best for MOST people. I do think that iPad is the best choice for Illustrators, designers and for people who are already invested in the Apple ecosystem and therefore would value the integrated ecosystem... And therefore appreciate that value. No doubt there are more optimized apps on the iPad but I would argue that most people buy tablets as a secondary (superfluous) media consuming devices; in which Samsung device would be better position satisfy that need. And the power and desktop-like experience DEX offers truly is the sleeping dog here. Next year prices will drop and Samsung S7 + will no doubt be encroaching even more into the 2-in-1 and (small but ever-present) Chromebook market. Samsung Live recording and Note-taking app is sublime; if you're student or office work taking notes during meetings. Just saying, it's a closer call than many think.
Excellent point. Remember when the iPad was just an oversized iPod? Tablets were established from the beginning to be media consumption for the mass market, but now they're finally getting close enough to actually start becoming the apocryphal laptop replacements some claimed them to be.
I think you make good points and choosing between the two has never been harder, whereas a couple of years ago it was an easy choice to buy the iPad. Now both have pros and cons, and it is now more a subjective choice as to what you need or prefer. As you say many buyers will be looking for a media consumption device and I agree if that is your main usage then the Tab S7+ ATM is the best; in a few months the new iPad with mini-LED may change that, but in the here and now I cannot argue with that. With regard to DeX, that is mainly a windows UI that of course appeal to Windows users as it is comforting. I must say if I wanted a tablet to look like a desktop then I would buy a 2-in-1 Windows or Chromebook, so I remain unconvinced by this argument. The great news is if you choose either of these you will have an excellent experience so it is really win-win!
The problem is that media consumption isn’t really worth the price of a samsung tablet, you’re better off with one of the 3 low end IPads. Android tablet apps are also very limited, once the average Joe decides that dabble in a new hobby, he’s gonna wish he chose the IPad.
great comprehensive comparison (as always) of these two tablets. I have a 6th gen. iPad with Apple Pencil and I love it for drawing digitally. I am in the Apple ecosystem so transferring my art from my iPad to my Mac and iPhone using Airdrop is so convenient as I don't have to use an external USB flash drive to transfer files between my Apple devices.
Thank you Brad good work, my inevitable feedback follows.... Good comparison of the competing products. Maybe demonstration of a slight bias that is ok too since everyone has one. :-) Samsungs refresh cycle seems unpredictable. It has been yearly to almost 2 years in the last decade. IMHO iPad Pro advantages *Image editing is likely slightly smoother/faster on iPad pro due to better OS hardware resource management. *The 3:2 screen aspect ratio might feel better for image editing in some apps *iPad apps likely a more consistent experience. Large app selection for artists with small handful of apps that are actually useful for the majority. *Apple Pencil tilt for some app tools seems better w wider range of tilt. IMHO Tab S7+ advantages *Tab S7+ has 8gb ram that might be advantage for some apps *AMOLED screen is clearly better for color and range. The aspect ratio is the same as found on Macbook Pro's so might be fine..? *Work-flow might be more consistent between Android and desktop. This is due to file management and proper multi-window (floating, overlapping, etc) that is similar to desktop. *Samsung S-pen using Wacom tech so will work and feel the same as those who use EMR pens on desktop, plus customizable pen buttons. *A good selection of art apps that all work well and consistently with Wacom's "nearly-3-decades-old industry standard" EMR pen technology. *Extra hard plastic and rubber tip pen nibs can be bought separately. *Good assortment of alternative pen stylus can be bought that work with the built in tech. * Palm rejection will be better in some apps in comparison to iOS. For me, my bias will always be towards a pen that is at least as good as Wacom EMR. I want to love the iPar Pro but the way iOS does file management and "multitasking" seems like a phone OS, so does not meet my expectations that have been set by the way a desktop OS does it. The Apple pencil is expensive, so don't drop it, let it get wet, and might need to be replaced after a year os so when the battery no longer holds a charge. Alternatively having desktop app crammed onto a tablet device is not ideal unless the UI is re-done. This is a huge issue for Windows tablets, awkward all over the place. Clip Studio Pro seems to have done this well, however apps such as Infinite Painter and Procreate might still have the edge as they are built and designed specifically for the touch screen environment. Ultimately it is good to have more options for artist looking to use mobile pen tablets..whoo hoo!
Most tech reviewers are either artists or video makers... and hence the bias, your opinion is exactly my opinion but this is strange to most reviewers!!

@@maimaihere yes, it is good in tablet series, somwhat costly according to an tablet but as a luxury buy, it suits the best. Dolby four speaker sound brings a very good sugary experience. Camera is quiet good not recommended for photoshoots and much more.....
I have the Tab S6 and recently bought the iPad 11 Pro to replace my iPad Air 2 with cellular. They’re both great tablets. Both have cellular service and using the GPS is awesome compared to my phone. Both screens are sharp, bright and battery life are great. Android vs iOS they both deliver. Depending on your niche either one is fine to use.
Never owned any apple device, but one thing I appreciate about them is the software support down the line for 5-7 years where as on Android it's 2-3 years max
I feel like something no one ever speaks about is how the Wacom EMR pens are generally more ergonomic and the rubber tips (softer) are much better in the long run for drawing with if you're an artist. I loved my Ipad Pro 12.9, but the Apple Pencil ultimately feels like you're chiseling line into the screen (even with a soft touch). The rubber S-Pen tips may not glide as well, but just that touch of flexibility in the nib gives the sensation that something is pushing against and back at you, which I've always found to be more representing of a true drawing experience. Also: some of the smaller S-Pens you can almost hold with an artists grip if you angle the tablet correctly. Drawing and painting with a tripod grip (pencil grip) is a really terrible way to go about illustrating for hours on end. Ultimately, I think a large drawing tablet (16" above ) with a PC capable of running Photoshop smoothly is always going to be better than a tablet. However, just for the S-Pen alone, I would go for Samsung.
I just hate how apple doesn't allow me to move and download file, and android is much better on that regard. My prof oftern upload there lecture note with zip file, and just can't view them easily with ipad. That alone gave me huge huge upside to tab s7 for me
While for serious work, Windows is still the software of choice, Android can do a lot of what can be done on Windows very well. iOS is too restrictive for me.
I use the Files app to unzip and have no issues. There were difficulties a couple of years ago but not now. It does mean a few extra steps and a laptop is a far better choice then upload to the cloud to access on the Tab or iPad.
WHAT??? Lol.. cmon guys.. at least say things that are TRUE. You can download, move, copy, unzip any .zip file. And depending on the contents, there are tons of apps to view your files. What kind of files does your professor send??
@@cantisanifotografo well, for example, if i want to drag drop pdf file to my ipad with out any kind of cloud service i just have no idea how i should do it, as an winodw user with an android phone, i get full control on my file manager, i can drag drop any files, and open most of file with it. But with ipad i can't do that i always need to use cloud service. I use my personal NAS and i have most of my file store in there, and i don't want to deal with other cloud service, and Ipad just don't let me to download songs, movie etc. It was way toooo much work to download those and open it. After all, when i make some pdf note or somthing, i tired to move file via cable, but it just doens't let me. Great review, and yet again no word about the difference in file management. I really think this is an important but constantly overlooked aspect, especially in day to day professional content creation. What’s worse, I don’t see apple feeling any pressure to make an effort changing their absolutely inferior file management, if respected reviewers like Brad don’t even mention it.
Apple (a la cart) as someone that owns both Operating systems I think android is equal to IOS 5 years ago I would have given it to IOS hands down But now I don't see a big difference I don't see the hype about an ipad The only thing the ipad does is boot up faster It may download games a few seconds faster and that's it When it comes to screen Speakers Price Ability to expand storage Fast charge I have to go with android
I think most of us that buy a tablet do not buy as a desktop replacement, there will be some, but for many, they see it is just a Windows UI and many of us prefer the Tablet UI.
The idea of pushing the desktop version of photoshop onto a tablet is losing its appeal. I gave up on Astropad for pros a couple years ago. Procreate and Affinity are just too good now. Ditto for Infinite Painter. And Adobe for better or worse is finally paying attention to the iPadOS. Clunky, but at least familiar for all those photoshop heads although ArtStudio Pro is more photoshop than photoshop 😂

That's exactly what I felt when I bought my iPad PRO and then my husband got a new Samsung phone with S-Pen. The S-Pen felt way smoother and more precise, and the rubber tip made a huge difference in the drawing experience for me. In the end, I sold my iPad PRO after a couple of months to buy a Huion because I didnt think it was worth the money, and since then I have been waiting for a good Samsung tablet to FINALLY be able to use the S-Pen. I personally hate bulky and/or heavy stylus, and for me the S-Pen is just the best stylus I have used so far.
This is really cool!! I've always wanted a drawing tablet that I can take out into the park or garden but I didn't wanna buy an ipad, glad there's some real competition now :D
I just bought the S7+ on Cyber Monday. Deal came with a Bluetooth gaming controller and I added the keyboard case for only $100 more. I traded in my old Note 10 I haven't used for a year and only ended up paying $400 for the whole bundle. I'm stoked.
I love your videos. About S-Pen you said: "where the S-Pen, it doesn't need a battery in order to draw. Sounds a kind of weird...". WHAT? It doesn't sounds weird! It sounds amazing! Why say weird instead of just freaking amazing? I know you love Ipad. But Apple its...Its not what it should be, I guess... Nowadays I hate Apple tech assistance (It just does't exists), I hate theirs abusive prices, I hate that you have to buy a thousand reais to buy a pen and then, more a hundred bucks to buy a horrible screen protector... Thanks there is a good tech competition now! Samsung prices its not good here in Brazil either, but they offer much more assistance and customization then Apple "ecosystem". I got Apple gadgets and Android ones too. Personally, the best phone in the market for me nowadays is the Galaxy Note series. Iphone? Just freaking suck for creators like us. And no customization. Wtf. I really want to buy a new tablet now, but in Brazil, I cant even describe how much expensive it is to buy an Ipad or even a Tab. And that makes me sad, because I cant enter the digital art world with those cool gadgets. Also the Wacom/Huion are expensive here, and they are not the profile of gadgets Im looking for. So Im managing everything with the Note. Which I love but has it limitations sometimes. Anyway, sorry for the long post, I just was sad about the Trophy for Ipad again and the "weird" word instead of "amazing". Hahah

It still frustrating. I also wish you will have more opportunities to work in graphics fields and have more tool to make and explore your artworks. Good luck 🌟
@A random Human being Well, for instance, you have a cellphone that you carry everywhere with a pen so you are able to draw anytime. This is really handy for me. Im an architect and illustrator, so I helped me a lot in many ways. As architect, for example: take a picture of something and draw on the picture so you can explain an idea. As illustrator: need to keep drawing that draw you want to finish? take it to your phone and continue drawing, when you are in places you cannot use your other gear (iPad, Wacom or Huion desks, etc). This phone its really being a good phone for me in 2020 in this way. Im not seeing for havin a phone without a pen anymore... But who knows. hahah I have the Note 10. Which I think its pretty amazing and doesn't have the need to "upgrade" to Note20. And its cheaper to buy nowadays. Note9 I know its still really good, cause my brother have one and he does almost the same stuff as I do. So its really fine! And Note20 Its probably the same good stuff, but more expensive and neweer.
But you did not include the software capability of galaxy s7+ like SAMSUNG DEX. You seem not fair really in comparing the two tablets on its glaring capabilities.
Hi Brad, Thanks for your reviews! I bought the IPad Pro few days ago for art, reading and note-taking and then I returned it. As you said the eco-system is phenomenally smooth and user friendly but here are the three turn-downs: 1. The screen brightness and lower-than-SAMOLED contrast somehow gave my eyes strain and also I started having headache. I admit my eyes are maybe too sensitive but I was expecting that LCD will be better for reading in comparison to PWM tech on Tab series. I was wrong :( It is too bright and less contrasty than Tab). 2. I think one thing could be mentioned on the apple pencil in your reviews is how WOBBLY the lines can be if the smoothing inside procreate or ClipStudio. There is another review called (Tab S7 artist review) where they show how super the line quality in the SPen is. 3. I can still work with the SPen when I have edged glass protector and it would still be a great experience give the material of the nib. When setting up PaperLike you have to give away the nice colors of the screen (becomes even washier) for the sake of using the pen. Just thought to mention these for other potential buyers. I know for a fact that many apps on IPAD are phenomenal for art and note-takers but eventually I asked myself if I would be able to live with ClipStudio on android as well as LectureNotes for note taking while having a better pen experience and vastly better display and vivid colors. For me the answer was yes. Sorry for the long comment :)
iPad and Android Apps are different as you said comparing with Instagram,, it’s because iPads have known set of resolution and screen sizes as they are only manufactured by Apple. But Android has unknowns sizes and aspect ratios as any manufacturer can make their tablets with their own sizes and resolutions. That makes the development easier to make apps specifically for iPads even if there are iPhone apps for the same. The same Instagram apps could have been made for Android tablets but the fragmentation makes it harder than iPad apps, still separate Instagram app for Android tablet is possible
This reviewer failed to mention all of the great commands available through the S-Pen, some of which are a big asset when creating artwork. Why not giving detailed info so that people can make up their mind? This review is very much Apple-biased and not at all objective because you failed to mention all of the S-Pen features that one will never be able to get on Apple pencil, nor you mentioned Samsung Dex.
The Galaxy Tab s7+...I so wanted to love this device and completely disconnect from the Apple ecosystem. I have a last gen iPad pro 12.9 with the magic keyboard. I was hoping, dare I say, praying, that when the S7+ came out it would be, in fact, the iPad Pro killer people were speaking of. After using both for about a month now I can honestly say, coming from an Android fan with a Sammy Note phone, it doesn't come close to the refinement of the iPad Pro. I was hoping it would be close but between the apps that just don't play right on the tablet, the 16:10 screen size screwing up anything useful you would work on like a spreadsheet, to the flimzy 229 dollar bookcover keyboard, I have to say it falls short for an 849 dollar tablet with a 229 dollar keyboard. Granted I hate the fact that Apple charges so much for the keyboard and more for the iPad Pro but, if we are looking at these 2 side by side and comparing honestly, it just isn't in the same ballpark as Apple. Sorry Sammy. PLEASE someone make an iPad pro killer with Android that works. Here are some key pointers to anyone listening: 1. If you are going to compete against a giant 12.9" 16:9 screen, MAKE YOURS 12.9", not 12.4", with the same aspect ratio. 2. Please work on the App ecosystem so the apps are more refined and work better when they are installed on a tablet. This is so ridiculously frustrating. 3. Nobody but a few crazy tech people care that the screen is 120Hz instead of 60 or 90. 4. The S-Pen needs to be held with a stronger magnet. 5. Dex has the potential to be a game changer...on the right device (see #1 above). Maybe version 3 (or 4?) will hit the mark. Too few apps work with the windowing, imo, with the narrow vertical height of the screen, it's almost pointless to have multiple windows open. 6. The Bookcover Keyboard....man, I was crazy excited when I heard about this. When I got it (2 weeks on backorder after ordering it with the tablet) I was immediately concerned that the cover (the keyboard side) did not sit right on the screen and left the entire top 1/4" of the screen exposed. this was due to the flimzy design of the lower "hinge". I assume, due to the fact that it did not close automatically to the top that the magnets holding it there did not operate good. After closing the keyboard side to this "not quite closed" position you have to manually force it up to close entirely; entirely unacceptable for a 229 dollar cover. Also in regard to the cover, I don't see the kickstand lasting for very long. It bends as you open it and I suspect within a year of use it willloosen at the hinge to the point it will either not close well or just fall open. Lastly, the magnets holding the keyboard to the tablet could be stronger. So, overall, not happy at all with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ with its bookcover keyboard. Hopefully the 8 or 9 or 10 will have gotten a bit more refinement to be a worthy adversary to the venerable iPad Pro. Thanks for reading.

the $ 300 difference between the iPad pro and the Galaxy Tab is quite a bit of money. I think it would be something that really matters to me, especially since I'm not in the Apple ecosystem. On Android we have very good drawing applications right now, the screen is very good for content consumption, the speakers are very good, expandable memory, All that makes it an excellent option.

Micro SD memory cards, even the fastest one from Samsung, are much slower than built in internal memory. So, its much better to buy higher memory tablets, than to add sd cards after. SD cards are slow... and you dont want that in high performance tablet
@@stefyyy1994
For example, the Samsung microSD card has read speeds of 530MB per second and the write speeds of 170 MB per second.

@@stefyyy1994 because some people may not have a laptop? and you can switch in and out of dex pretty easily?
I think was opportunity for an "Other" category where you go over things like Dex, usability with other peripherals (like monitors), file management and sharing. This is where Samsung has really taken advantage of Android's strengths and you really feel the constraints of iPadOS. This is an area that's not always highlighted but could be a differentiator similar to how software generally goes to iPadOS and iOS because of major favorites like Procreate and iMessage, respectively.

To Lula
Weight within pens isn’t a big deal, imo.
But the ipad is better overall in the long run.
Parientou yeah I mainly animate line drawings

Yeah, agreed. It's finally coming together for android
LOL
@Sipho Thenjwayo Yeah, DeX is a major reason why I'm thinking about eventually replacing my Surface Pro with the Galaxy Tab S line. Really been loving the functionality on my 2017 Note 8. But I want Samsung to first do the following:
- *Bring* *Back* *Linux* *on* *DeX!* Or better yet, enable the native installation and running of Linux Desktop apps in DeX mode.

I’m just glad Android is now in a position to compete with Apple just so that Apple can continue to innovate just to stay relevant. It can’t rest on its laurels as the “best tablet in the market” for too long without Android lighting a fire under their butt and surprising them with better hardware.
Ipad pro will always be a superior tablet as Apple are leaps and bounds ahead with chip technology.

@@TheseEyesSeeDarknessClearly just buy usb c otg, store anime there and you can play whenever you like on your iPad
Yes, I thought dex too
DeX is not relevant to 99% of tablet users, but if it works for you then the Tab S7+ may be the best choice.

Not really very relevant for artists. Dex is great for another demographic
Dex is not for drawing needs
Jescae Jul Saavedra Dex offers a convenient way to access completed files, and send them. With full browser support it makes sending files and whatnot far easier. It’s not crucial for artists, but I can see a lot of situations where having android +dex as a file management system would be leagues ahead of apples.
RiceCube Tech RiceCube Tech I can already do that with safari on iPad because of full desktop class sites. I use google drive and onedrive on safari. I can send files by dragging and dropping. This video is for artists, I'm sure dex is really great for other use cases yeah
Yeah, DeX is a major reason why I'm thinking about eventually replacing my Surface Pro with the Galaxy Tab S line. Really been loving the functionality on my 2017 Note 8. But I want Samsung to first do the following:
- *Bring* *Back* *Linux* *on* *DeX!* Or better yet, enable the native installation and running of Linux Desktop apps in DeX mode.

The biggest sell for Tab s7 This year is Xbox pass. You can play high quality Xbox games on tab s7, something iPad can't own

Hey Brad, consider the fact that S-pen has no need for a matte screen protector because of superior traction and much better feeling tip so you never have a lose-lose situation like ipad pro between mitigating an uncontrollably slippery pen or a super grainy screen courtesy matte protectors
I would say tab S7+ wins overall
Also s-pen replacement tips cost less than 1$ for a 4 pack with remover tool included from China. Durability is not an issue considering the benefits that amazing Felt x Brush pen hybrid feeling tip brings. Seriously people need to go to a samsung store and use that pen to really realise how insanely good it is

I always put a protector on my tablets, even my Tab S6 as it protects the device and gives a much better feel than glass, so I do not agree there, a matte screen on both probably makes it very close and quite subjective.
@@jomsies you are wrong. The entire reason matte protector is needed is because apple pencil has no texture or traction

Why iPad got FaceTime iMessage
It’s so hard to get out that ecosystem tho 😭. iMessage, FaceTime, etc, It all works so smoothly and samsung doesn’t have an equivalent ecosystem.
I'm a designer/illustrator and I'm trying to decide between the two. As if rn it's defs for personal use and not work so I'm like could go either way
The problem is that media consumption isn’t really worth the price of a samsung tablet, you’re better off with one of the 3 low end IPads.
For all the people not into the drawing stuff, the S7+ is a better choice.
Even the its not much better
Good to see the fact, really rare - the unbiased review 👍👍👍
Thank you Brad good work, my inevitable feedback follows....
Good comparison of the competing products. Maybe demonstration of a slight bias that is ok too since everyone has one. :-)
Samsungs refresh cycle seems unpredictable. It has been yearly to almost 2 years in the last decade.
IMHO iPad Pro advantages
*Image editing is likely slightly smoother/faster on iPad pro due to better OS hardware resource management.
*The 3:2 screen aspect ratio might feel better for image editing in some apps
*iPad apps likely a more consistent experience. Large app selection for artists with small handful of apps that are actually useful for the majority.
*Apple Pencil tilt for some app tools seems better w wider range of tilt.
IMHO Tab S7+ advantages
*Tab S7+ has 8gb ram that might be advantage for some apps
*AMOLED screen is clearly better for color and range.
So what is your suggestion. Which one should I buy? I want a tablet that can do well better at drawing than the other and slightly animation too.
Most tech reviewers are either artists or video makers... and hence the bias, your opinion is exactly my opinion but this is strange to most reviewers!!

I just hate how apple doesn't allow me to move and download file,
and android is much better on that regard.
Agree
WHAT??? Lol.. cmon guys.. at least say things that are TRUE. You can download, move, copy, unzip any .zip file. And depending on the contents, there are tons of apps to view your files. What kind of files does your professor send??
@@cantisanifotografo well, for example, if i want to drag drop pdf file to my ipad with out any kind of cloud service i just have no idea how i should do it,
as an winodw user with an android phone, i get full control on my file manager, i can drag drop any files, and open most of file with it.
I was forced to move file using cloud. like what is this, only if ipad alow me to move file with cable, and open any kind of file using thrid party app, it will be my next computer, but they don't
Wow, zero view zero comments and zero likes/dislikes.
You've done a god's work for us digital artists. Much appreciated.
Apple (a la cart)
as someone that owns both Operating systems
I think android is equal to IOS
5 years ago I would have given it to IOS hands down
But now I don't see a big difference
I don't see the hype about an ipad
The only thing the ipad does is boot up faster
It may download games a few seconds faster and that's it
When it comes to screen
Speakers
Price
Ability to expand storage
Fast charge
I have to go with android
1:47 go watch a movie in a dark room side by side and try saying that again
As an amateur digital artist, I found this video very informative whether which one is the best for doing digital art.
Samsung has dex but Brad has not talked about it. For me, Dex is a killer feature for laptop replacement.
I think most of us that buy a tablet do not buy as a desktop replacement, there will be some, but for many, they see it is just a Windows UI and many of us prefer the Tablet UI.
You're missing the MIRACLE that is SuperDisplay on Android. Like Astropad but much better. Pushes Samsung tabs ahead of the iPad IMHO.
But can you get procreate?
Well he said you can buy the Samsung tab S7 but procreate, calipeg, etc... Give ipad the edge
@@kotor1357 good point.. But keep on mind, google play store has a bigger amount of devs, I will give it 3-6months to get apps that are capable to compete ipad apps
@@BenFrankarts Much higher RAM on desktop. Desktop versions cheaper than mobile subscriptions. Virtually no lag on Superdisplay (which wasn't true of Astropad last time I tried).
Thank you for this video! This was SO Helpful! I'm not an apple user but I've been looking at starting digital art and had heard the ipad was the best. Thanks for creating honest and detailed videos for us fellow artist!
I haven't tried the new s pen yet but I feel like the s pen would be more precise than the apple pencil due to it's thinner tip
Undead Wizard I have an apple pencil and ipad..and it’s a right choice for artist like us
That's exactly what I felt when I bought my iPad PRO and then my husband got a new Samsung phone with S-Pen.
And it is. For me S Pen is much better too.
I'm stoked.
Me watching this when all I can afford is a 50$ tablet😂
I hope you’ll get the tablet you like soon 👍🏾
Hahah
Yeah I was just confused when he said that it was wierd. I was like umm is that bad? Or what😂
And that sucks that the Ipads or tabs are too expensive where you live
@@AM-ur7ow Yeah my friend! Its crazy! I live in Brazil, so the country is a mess and dolar quotation its 5,40 for 1 real. Its expensive! So an Ipad pro costs, with taxes, R$ 9.000,00.
For example, see the Numbeo comparisson of our countries: www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Brazil&country2=United+States
its crazy.
Im trying to do commisions on Patreon or Fiverr to try to earn in Dollar so I can save to buy an Ipad. Im not succeding at it, cause of visibility on internet I guess.
thats It.
But I have the notion that my country isn't the worse anyhow. Of course not...
AND ABOUT THE PEN: Yeah right? Wtf! Hahaha I love S-Pen!
Same either, cause I used Samsung galaxy note and it was really comfortable to use it. You don't need to charge or Bluetooth it (probably the most frustrating things I hate 😹) also you don't need to change the batteries. As I also use the cheapest huion product for my laptop.
But who knows. hahah
I have the Note 10.
Been waiting for this smackdown!
The Samsung tablet of course Murdered the Apple trash!!!
Hi Brad, Thanks for your reviews! I bought the IPad Pro few days ago for art, reading and note-taking and then I returned it. As you said the eco-system is phenomenally smooth and user friendly but here are the three turn-downs:
Have you tried using the art apps in DEX mode? I find most open perfectly in landscape using DEX.
Great review, as usual 👏 I think I'm going to go all in and pick up the Tab S7+ .... something about it is calling me
I love my iPad Pro 2020 mind you this is my first iPad. On Android I own an old Samsung tablet way back in the days.
iPad and Android Apps are different as you said comparing with Instagram,, it’s because iPads have known set of resolution and screen sizes as they are only manufactured by Apple.
Now I know why they didn't give him a review unit lol
The first non-Apple tablet to make me doubt my 11’’ iPad Pro a little and do a double-take...
Here are some key pointers to anyone listening:
I bought my Samsung Galaxy Tab s7 this past year, and I absolutely love it. I'm an artist, and having a blast with Clip Studio Paint, Ibis Paint X, Infinity Painter, Infinity Designer, etc, etc. Love it!
I have the Samsung Tab S6 and I just bought the Samsung Tab S7+ - it's suppose to arrive in a couple of days - I am so excited - can't wait.
I'm starting to get interested in Digital Drawing (beginner) and I still think about getting the S7 or the iPad Pro because if I get the Tab S7 I might not be able to share my content with my MacBook easily (unless is using Drive).
Also, productivity (Mac doesn't support Office 365 very good in my opinion), taking notes for school, drawing.
I'm constantly looking at reviews, so hope this one helps.
Never had a pen tip wear out on Samsung tablet or problems with palm rejection. Is this an ad for Apple?
When the demand arises and the hardware is ready to back them, well, the software will eventually come, I hope something worth in the coming months.
y'all don't need a comparison between Samsung and Apple.
Why? because ios users will always choose the ipad and Android users will pick the tab
