For me, Farming arc really solidified kindness is strength. Musashi struggled to get food for the farmers. And the old Musashi, "Takezo" would've refused to help. Except this new "Takezo" was willing to learn. Just to help others.
This arc was the one where the focal point of the story progressed the fastest, most people just don't realize it. I think that is why this arc is so good, it shows so much, but only to those who see
Vagabond's farming arc is something which I consider one of the best piece of literature ever. No mangas I've read stand a chance against it. And yeah Vagabond is one of the most consistent mangas out there
it was the arc Musashi truly gained real "strength" the ability to be strong enough to impose his will, discipline and determination to create better outcomes for not just himself but for others. Its much more difficult to be kind, to build than it is to destroy.
honestly, I love the fact that this arc aged really well. When it first came out, people shit the hell out of it because it was slow and "uninteresting" when in reality it's true to Musashi's writings especially the Earth Book from the Book of 5 Rings.
And one of the most shocking scenes is when we see Musashi in the bones kneeling asking the people of the temple for food for the villagers. No one would ever imagine Takezo from the beginning of the manga in that situation and it is a moment that every time I read it makes me cry like a baby.
What I find amazing of the farming arc is that if you read Musashi, the life of Miyamoto Musashi, the romance doesn't have this period where he lives in a farm. Actually, the book goes as linearly and to the eventual and unavoidable encounter with Sasaki. The closest it gets is when Musashi helped a village to defend themselves against some bandits. But what I find fascinating is that it seems that the same level of understanding of who this person was in this "romantic" level was captured by the book and the manga only finished capturing this image of musashi through the battle against nature instead of Sasaki. Great video.
i am happy that someone else enjoy this arc as much as i do, tbh framing arc is just pure human thought of wondering about its own existent and thinkg out of the window that was set for him , as you said this arc is an art piece
I’m not sure if this is part of the farming arc but I read the latest chapters which I’m sad to see hasn’t continued but in the end, did you guys see musashi’s demeanor? He no longer had a wild look in his eyes, held his head high and was reluctant to fight. I was left wondering if Takezo could actually beat Kojiro because it has seemed as if he has gotten worst at swordsmanship. While this may be true I studied the previous pages and realized Kojiro is weak in the way of his senses. People who are humble and see clearly can only begin to find Kojiro’s weakness and from then on can whittle him down. A battle between them would most likely be a draw considering both have great evasion but when it comes down to it, Takezo will outshine Kojiro if he does not let his emotions get involved. It’s been his greatest crutch through the entire series and it would be nice to see him stand strong without such lies as pride, anger and fear. Takezo was once a baby as everyone was and was born with a beautiful soul. He never needed to be so ashamed of himself to do what he did and never needed to do what he did to be that strong. It only helped him realize it which he needed to go through. I love inoue and I love that he took the time to create a master piece even if it’s not the true story of Musashi. He’s helped me with more than I can comprehend right now and has made a perfect story just the way it is
I personally loved the farming arc because it focuses on the growth of Musashi. I do agree that the Farming Arc is the best arc. Not top 5, not top 3, I would say it sits alone at the top.
It seems like ya are trying to find ya niche right now and that’s very difficult with the amount of content on the platform. Honestly keep on doing you because your personality shines through ya content and so is your passion for story dissection/review. I think individual arks would be fun but only if you find enjoyment out of it man. If I may, maybe focus on Seinen series like Kingdom, Blade of the immortal, 20th century boys, etc. Cheers to the good video and keep on with great content!
FYI it is actually Taoism, you can know this because of the saying “be infinite” and “be like water”, which yes are similar to stoicism, but are exactly like Taoism.
can someone please tell me where i can read vagabond with good translation, i love the philosophy in this manga and i want to understand while reading it, i read on mangakakalot but the translation is hard to understand the plilosphy
While I do understand the purpose of the farming arc it can be *Very* difficult to read through. With that being said the *real* purpose of it is to show the contrast between Musashi and Kojiro. Kojiro is currently going through an act where he has to put down his sword in order to learn more about life and do things like communicate with people, learn manners and how to write better but unlike Musashi Kojiro fails this test. Instead of accepting things the way they are and learning from it Kojiro acts childishly bored and *Just* *Wants* *to* *Get* *Back* *to* *the* *fighting* Read that last sentence again. The farming arc in a lot of ways is the artists critique of his own audience who just want action. Vagabond isn't that kind of manga. And again while I do understand the farming art it's very difficult to read about a man essentially just working on a farm. Reading the farming arc is kind of like watching the movie House that Jack built. While it is amazing on a technical level and I'm glad I watched it once it's painful to get through and I likely won't read it again. Then again my views on other characters like Matachi have changed over time so you never know
More individual arc videos?
YES MORE PLS!!!!
do the Vinland Saga farming arc too
Love your content!
yessssssssssssssssssssss
hell yeah!
After all the struggle in the farm i've never felt so happy when musashi got the food supplies and saved the village
it was the arc Musashi truly gained real "strength"
When the antagonist of the arc is the protagonist himself.
I think that is why this arc is so good, it shows so much, but only to those who see
Never thought a story about a man beating people with a stick could be so good
Vagabond's farming arc is something which I consider one of the best piece of literature ever. No mangas I've read stand a chance against it.
And yeah Vagabond is one of the most consistent mangas out there
agree
one of the most beautiful piece of literature
At seinen, vagabond its apart
I just started Vagabond last Tuesday, and ended the manga this Tuesday. And yes, the farm arc was the best, i broke in tears.
it was the arc Musashi truly gained real "strength" the ability to be strong enough to impose his will, discipline and determination to create better outcomes for not just himself but for others. Its much more difficult to be kind, to build than it is to destroy.
Well said
most right decisions are hard to do but at the end of the day it is the right decision
honestly, I love the fact that this arc aged really well. When it first came out, people shit the hell out of it because it was slow and "uninteresting" when in reality it's true to Musashi's writings especially the Earth Book from the Book of 5 Rings.
Just a small detail but i loved how Inoue draw Musashi skinnier and skinnier how the arc progressed, because they barely had food.
it made me sad seeing musashi skinny
And one of the most shocking scenes is when we see Musashi in the bones kneeling asking the people of the temple for food for the villagers. No one would ever imagine Takezo from the beginning of the manga in that situation and it is a moment that every time I read it makes me cry like a baby.

Bro shuhsaku death hit me hard bro 😭
I'll miss you old man😢
Vagabond's farm arc is the most invested i have ever been in a fictional story

Not top 5, not top 3, I would say it sits alone at the top.
It's my second fav arc after the Chimera ant arc from HxH.
Make one on the vinland saga farming arc
Just wait 👀
@@arveuss it's the only thing I can do 😄
I cry like a child every time I read this arc...
No you dont
I never realize the meaning behind the circle wow
the whole of vagabond is like this arc summed up, not regularly structured and kind of janky in that sense but somehow it works perfectly.
nice video dude thanks for explaining all the motives and influences this manga has done
Inotake is a genius
Great video man keep up the work enjoyed hearing your point of view
Love the video, tbh all farming arcs in manga are underrated. Highly recommend Vinland Saga if you enjoyed the farming arc and if you want more of it.
Vinlandsagas farming arc and Vagabonds farming arc is top tier
It was quite a journey after Musashi slayed the entire clan. No wonder farming arc feels news and different.
same with the vinland saga farm arc i loved that arc but not many people love that one
I did love that arc too but this one just hit different
The moment I read it I knew it was the best arc and theirs no sword fight in it
@@ibrahimandong1572 yeah thats also a factor
When someone tells a character lack developing i always think in this arc
I think the wondering arc is part of Farming arc

Great Video. I just finished vagabond and farming arc was also my favourite arc. Btw does anyone know where that edit at 7:30 is from?
can someone please tell me where i can read vagabond with good translation, i love the philosophy in this manga and i want to understand while reading it, i read on mangakakalot but the translation is hard to understand the plilosphy
I mean the best way to read it is with the volumes but i don’t know where you can read it online
Mangareader
Imo the yoshioka and hozoin arcs are better than the farming arc, but the farming arc is more unique
2:22 Which anime is this clip from?
You people should read Lone Wolf and cub, its even better
the issue is vagabond has a hard time tying the arcs together
Top 3 in all of manga
Is that GoT music in background?
While I do understand the purpose of the farming arc it can be *Very* difficult to read through.

The farming arc is great but I think the Kanemaki Jisai arc is better
Huh

what is the show at 2:22 ?
Did you figure it out ?
@@elmo4672 might be black butler but idk haven't watched it
Nice ❤️💕❤️
Im still not mature enough to understand this arc thats why i found it booring. Will re read vagabond after another 5 years probably then.
From which chapter to which?
302-322 I think
si
I love you
Dude im sorry but reading this on a monthly ish basis was gruesome, absurdly slow and boring compared to the rest of the manga.
