Another great explanation/analysis. Yellowbrow really feels like that child who can't bear to lose at anything, so will either make the rules of a "game" themselves to ensure no-one else can win, or stack the odds in his favour. He can't "grow up", so can't achieve the level of spiritual cultivation and enlightenment to reach the ascendancy he craves. Ironic and tragic.

Exellent contents! I so much enjoyed the entire video. One thing though, i dont think (or refuse to accept) Kangjin Loong is dead (26:03, 1:44:27). She didnt vanish like other bosses did, and when Bajie was trying to be rude to her, she was still breathing. Also she is a true ally of Wukong and tried to bravely seek out his whereabout, thats how Yellowbrow got and beguiled her. So Game Science, its only right to bring her as a guest to the Zodiac village in the DLC, she should join the crew! pls pls pls🙏🏻

She’s such a cool character and great ally as you said, so I’m definitely more than happy to be wrong about this and hope she makes a return in DLC too!
I've read Xiyou Ji multiple times and I've beaten this game three times, but I still love these long breakdowns and continue to learn from them. Fancheng ganxie!
@@EmpressXV I love classical literature, and China has some fantastic examples. Sanguo Yanyi is my favorite, but Xiyou Ji and Shuihu Zhuan are close seconds. I can read and speak some Mandarin, but not well enough to read these in the original language. I'm hoping to be able to one day.

Not religion in the monotheistic sense but an overall philosophical way to govern its societies and politics. I mean Buddhism for example isnt even Chinese in origin but has become a deep influence in those said beliefs that are still very much present today. - My understanding
Maybe I'm going to sound like an idiot and am just reading too far into things, but I also wanted to point something out. Jinchanzi, while stating the flaws in Yellow Brow's plan and seeming like he felt bad for the people; he ultimately did nothing to stop it.
It’s totally a valid point to make! Especially because there does seem to be some passivity going on with the deities. Granted Jin Chanzi isn’t a bodhisattva and doesn’t have powers to do anything, but Yellowbrow’s antics are just so extreme 😔
@EmpressXV that is a much more succinct way of putting it. Thank you. I always found the passive protector that can become vulnerable to the very thing they teach against as a fascinating story arc. I feel like the novel and the game capture these themes very well.

I lost precious time with it and also missing out on a relic too. I liked Kang-Jin Star design, she is so cute and pretty even if she is brainwash. But yes, this chapter is the start of the beginning for fridge horror that is chapter 4 which is the one where I was silently screaming in my head: "Fuck me, so Kang-Jin Star was right to betrayed the Celestial Court all the long!" Its dark and alot of people like me didnt catch it until digging deeper or watching AvenueX video who explained it very clearly. To be honest, Chapter 4 really made me wish we can that DLC already and just wrecked the entire Heavenly Palace to the ground. Please dress up as the Fourth Sister for chapter 4 because she is my favorite and there is a theory (which I believe) that she is either the past destined one lover or Wukong "Love Interest" that is shown in chapter 6 ending.
