Oh brother, I know i'm 2 years late on this video... We had a check-up on our old 2006 Chrysler 300 AWD Touring at our local tire shop today; they ran a test and said we just needed to replace our old cabin air filter. They wanted to charge us $70 to replace our old filter. But, we decided to buy our own filter and do it ourselves.... ha ha! The jokes on us....... there is no Cabin air filter housing! Glad it helped. As for the whispering, I think my neighbor was coming by and I don't like eavesdroppers and I didn't want to be bothered because I was trying to make this video. Anyway, which motor should have been by the passenger side?
Ever find your issue? I have the same problem and was wondering if not having the filter had something to do with it. My refridg charge is good so I’m thinking it’s the condenser. Just wondering if you found your problem
@@MarcyMckeefer nah I replaced the condenser and it took some of the freeon and had a lil cold air but now it’s back to hot and they tryna tell me it’s the ac compressor
It depends. If you live in an area where it rains a lot or you leave your car parked outside, then probably not as the filter could get wet. Also if the cabin filter is pushed/stuffed in...its not really tight on the area where the outside particles or leaves, etc., can enter into the car. So it would be mostly ineffective. I thought about doing this as well, but the main problem is if the filter is not tight, then leaves will also get in between. Still better than nothing and probably ok to do if long if you don't have health problems. If so then it might just make more sense to buy the cabin filter housing unit.
I just bought a filter thinking it's an easy replacement...... good ol American cars and their unnecessary bullshite. Now I gotta take this to a mechanic for this crap
@@FixCarYourself They did the same thing with some 300 models with hood struts. Mine only had a hood strut on the passenger side. I had to get a strut, and the little ball from an autowrecker car, then tap out the hole on the drivers side to the metric thread, to have two hood struts. I hope they go broke a third time.

I went hunting for one today, found it on a 2010 300 2.7, snagged it for like 10 bones
I’m sure there is the same air inlet on others but I haven’t checked yet.
Nice this should help others out!
@@FixCarYourself also I grabbed some auto/marine weather stripping that fit perfect around those plenum seals, if you drive in rain there is a lot of water trying to get into that area under the cowl, make sure that filter won’t drown
@@sackyhackMxO never had that problem with rain, and I get a lot of snow and rain.
My 2008 charger has a empty slot weird
Lucky you...Just put a cabin filter in, and call it a day.
2005 Dodge Grand caravan cabin air filter???
This doesn't work on that. The Grand CAravan is different.
I have a srt8 2009 no cabin filter
Yep sounds right.
Too bad you nearly destroyed the Phillips head 1/4 turn fasteners! They are plastic so if they don't unscrew easily perhaps you should investigate further.
Nope their good. They are a weird looking piece though.
Where did you get the new insert off of?
I bought it online on ebay. But sometimes amzn has it as well. I left some links in the description of this video.
@@FixCarYourself thank you for getting back to me
Are you whispering? Anyway, thank you for the video. Very helpful. Except the wiring harness for the motor should have ran over on the passengers side of the motor.
Glad it helped. As for the whispering, I think my neighbor was coming by and I don't like eavesdroppers and I didn't want to be bothered because I was trying to make this video.
Anyway, which motor should have been by the passenger side?
My 06 Srt8 doesn’t even have one
Sounds right to me.
My car won’t shoot cold air could this be the reason? I have no cabin air filter
Nope. Maybe you need some Freon.
@@FixCarYourself tried that for some reason it won’t take Freon
Maybe its clogged or dirty the front grill area meaning the condenser. I've also heard it could be bad ac wire.
Where did you buy it at ?
Sometimes it's on Amazon or Ebay, but pricey. But it goes fast I think. I have some links in the description of this video.
❤❤❤👍👍👍✌
Thanks!
They tried to suffocate her.
Leaves galore
Yep
Dodge Challenger SRT8 2009 is not in the list.
I'll add it. Others have said it works for Dodge Challenger models 2008-2010.
Can’t you just stuff the filter inside there without changing it out?
@@FixCarYourself thanks on the response I seen that shit is 120 now ima try to get to a junk yard next week
@@seanf6968 I know expensive part. I'm guessing because it takes time to get to it.
It needs a rain flap over it, or when the water runs off the windshield it will soak the filter.
Yep. The upgraded unit has the flap which prevents water from getting on it.
@@FixCarYourself 2009 charger had a flap without a solid hinge, they hinged it on the ends so it just sagged open, let the water right in.
@@WDIO-RADIO interesting.
185$??? for a piece of plastic? yeah ill just make one myself..
I don't blame you. Its pricey. They should have originally included this in thier vehicles!
Junkyards!!!!
I just bought a filter thinking it's an easy replacement...... good ol American cars and their unnecessary bullshite. Now I gotta take this to a mechanic for this crap
its really not that hard, just do each step slowly. happy to help if you have any questions along the way.
I just laid the filter in front of the intake.
Poor design and leaves me to wonder how much AdHd these engineers really have.
Ita not adhd. Its called penny pinching and not caring about their customers health.
Bro Chrysler so garbage for not just including that
They wanted to save money, and don't care about customers health. That's a big reason why they went bankrupt. They didn't care.
Thank you so much. Great video
Glad it was helpful!
