Snap off utility knives are convenient for light duty cutting. And in this short video, I'll show you how to break off the tip without tools. The blade itself is scored about every half inch and you can break them off so you'll always have a sharp tip.
To start, extend the blade so that only one section is exposed past the handle. And I'll need the and cap for the next part. And here's why. I don't know if you know this or not but there's a slit in the back to make this task easy. Just insert the tip of the blade into the end cap and break it off. If angle of the cap only covers a portion of the blade or if the fit doesn't feel right then just flip it over. You'll clearly be able to tell which side to use.
And as I demonstrated in the video, I didn't use any tools for this. But to make this a complete tutorial, I'll offer a different method. This time I'll need a pair of pliers. And again, with one section of the blade exposed I'll simply use the pliers to snap off the tip. It's super easy to do.

Yeah that end cap makes it easy to snap off the full tip so you’ll have a fresh sharp edge when needed.
