Zoller-Hof is from Sigmaringen. That is in Baden-Württemberg, not Bavaria. Sorry for bringing it up, but I live in the Zollernalb. There is a Hohenzollern castle in Sigmaringen, which should not be confused with the Hohenzollern in Hechingen.
I guess Andechs is also the most widely available, maybe that influenced your poll. I do like this style, but some breweries can get too excited with the hops.
Yes, you are probably right about that. I need to try more beers in the style, but my experience so far is that it's not super sessionable but a real joy to drink around half a bottle. As you say, because of the intense hop flavor (together with the high ABV...?).

I remember really disliking this style back in the day, but definitely enjoy it now. So malty.
