I watched Dore from 2018-2021, partly because as a poli sci grad student I just wanted to see what was popular politically on the internet and UA-cam. Dore did indeed have some insightful assessments particularly regarding domestic politics and Congressional corruption, as well as the insanity of a $800 billion DoD budget even though they consistently fail audits and cannot account for literally billions of dollars each year.
But what happened is that he (and especially his audience) morphed from adhering to the positive tenets of liberal/leftist politics into a "both-sidesism" approach in which said audience now thinks that both parties are the same. Understanding something about qualitative and quantitative stats, I could quickly debunk the both-sides assertion that we have a "uniparty." The differences between the two parties in terms of policy have actually never been more stark. So to assert that there are no differences means that one is intentionally and overtly trying to manipulate his audience. At that point, I realized that he was attracting far more right-winger, faux-populists into his ranks, and I never watched again. He had lost all credibility.
I will say that unless you saw his shows in 2018/2019/2020 (and frankly his quick-witted political comedy during his live UA-cam shows), the clip that Hal played does not at all reflect the totality of his career. Dore used to be a generally good dude, but was co-opted by money and narcissistic fame, along with his innate laziness as regards working with and through political nuance in order to understand the subtle mechanisms of policy. Today he is a joke for sure. But he definitely was not always so.
