Another consideration... I've been fit and 'ready' my whole life. BUT, now that things are actually going sideways, I looked in the mirror and realized that there was an old man looking back at me. Old age has caught me. In my head, i can still do things. But in reality, age matters.

I hear you. Now that I'm in my 60s I'm not really up to "bugging out" much less dragging my wife with me. I can put up a decent fight at home if it comes to that, but living off the land in the deep woods? Nope, not at at this stage in life.

If one of many scenarios happens, the bug out bag should be part of your PACE, (Primary, alternate, contingency and emergency), plan. Not the whole plan. Prior planning, playing out in your mind, "what would I do if..." is an assurance of potential success. My thinking is that a bug out bag is like the trappers of old who carried a "possible bag". Just designed to get you to the next leg of your journey or assist in your short term survival. It's hard to imagine an event where you couldn't flee a burning home and find safety in a vehicle, etc. But should you find yourself in a apocalyptic dystopian fiction novel it would be nice to have.

My husband never once heard me or one of my four sons ask to take a break lol! We hiked and camped the mountains of East Tennessee for twenty years! The solution is not to get rid of the preps, it's not to take your family to a place that they can't keep up. Small children don't slow men down because they let the women take care of them.

Yes. The best and valuable information I have yet heard is if you don't practice and use what you have you are lost! So almost every day, I use and practice with what I have and have actually got rid of a lot of things because of the impractically of most things! There is a huge difference between what you think you want and what you need!!!!!

I worked with a German geologist who father was killed in WW2, mother and 6 very young children were in Poland, She put 4 of the children into a wheel barrow and walked back to Germany to escaped the invading Russian army. It can be done and has been done plenty of times in history, woman can do it. Just does one have more optimal gear. BOB is also get home bag, or get to a wilderness retreat where there is supplies or get to a family member where there are supplies.

It’s a mindset. There are plenty of families who are prepared to survive through mental conditioning and physical conditioning.
Growing up in a military family, traveling the world over, we learned from an early age what conditioning ourselves for survival should be like. Men like my father knew how to properly prepare his family for whatever life throws at them. Preparing one’s mind to believe certain people cannot attain the conditioning necessary to achieve success is setting them all up for failure. Either your family is on board, or they will die. Just like your story illustrates. Strength of mindset is the key to your success.

@@meeshmeeshelle6326 Very true, there have been a few female winner of the alone show where things are equal. Men have a much higher calory requirement than woman. Bugging out is usually a forced occurrence where one has no option. One sees on TV fire or flood and people get stranded with just the cloths on their backs having to be rescued.

@@spatialinterpretations449 correct. Which is why it needs to be a lifestyle. The World, while an incredibly beautiful place, can also be quite hostile. Know your environment & supply up on the regular. Live life prepared so you don’t need to get prepared. That’s how you get live …without worrying about surviving. Your mind will have already been trained in the event, an event occurs. May we all live safely and happily.

Very important topic! That's why it's most important to have a plan. And act fast when the crisis strikes. As for BOB for your family members- reduce weight. Instead of gadgets like big knives, a saw for cutting wood, put warm clothes in their backpack, a warm sleeping bag and an inflatable sleeping pad for your partner and child. And teach your lady - how to refuel from a canister, how to inflate tires, what to do in the event of a crisis. Greetings from central Europe and thank You for another good material.

Great video thank you very much I'm 60 years old and I have a bug out bag or just a general backpack for long-term I've made a rack on the back of my bicycle and a rock in the front for me and my girlfriend she has hers too she has her own backpack we have all the tools needed plus a month and a half of food because the bicycle itself you can walk beside it and push it through hard to get through Terrain and you can go to the distance so really overall you can improve by having a motive of Transportation

1st things 1st get out of the big Look for a little town outside of your city Buy a motorhome if you have to live in that until you can get an apartment A Get somewhere where you can grow vegetables And you won't have to go far to bug out

Agree with most stuff up until the end. If other adults in my family have failed to prepare themselves, I have no responsibility toward them and do not lack moral fiber. My wife and children are my only real responsibilities

Rule of thumb: no more than 15% of total body weight for a FIT adult, and no more than 10% for a child. Make sure that all gear is absolutely essential. Practice with the family. Drill on skills.

Thanks for the video. I liked the topic. Realistic.
Would like your next video to be, a scenario where you had to leave your home. What would you pack in your vehicle if you and the family had to bugout (leave home).
Understand that Buging In would be more ideal

I have my survival bag. Used for whatever. I live in a apartment building. If plants that produce power get hit and its long term i wont be able too make fires. I dont want too bug out. I prefer too stay put. Personally i would try too find a commune. Or start one. Being a lone wolf seems like a bad plan.

Why is it everyone always talks about bug out and mountains? Like somehow you cant have one without the other. If bugging out to some random undeveloped location of the woods is your plan for bugging out then yeah you will get them killed. Honestly bugging out is a last ditch plan when you don't have any other options. Me and my wife have buggout bags but they aren't set up for wilderness living, they are set up for relocating to a hotel or family members house in another state, we keep cash, ID, medical records and resumes in the event of a regional disaster where our area becomes unlivable. Very little food, a couple changes of clothes and certifications related to our professional indilustries we work in. Seriously people need to quit watching red dawn. Unless you have a cabin and property to bug out to in the mountains all your gonna do is prolong your inevitable demise.

My opinion is that if its you and your family it has to be a team effort and not this crazy notion that we men need to do everything. Two lone wolves dont last long if its just one person bugging out and lastly you need to learn how to get everything you will need from nature after your supplies run out as the native Americans did it just fine with a family but it was a team effort on every thing see.

It is goofy to have a "Philosophy" on bug out bags, equally goofy when people talk about their "System". This fantasy that you are going to live in the woods forever is a fools errand, you are going to starve. Is bugging out to the mountains the best move? Probably not. How are you ignoring that most everywhere you will need to go ...there is a road that goes there. For your family consider a second conveyance: ie. bicycles, scooters, rollerskates, skateboards...etc.

  • @trentonvet
    @trentonvet 6 місяців тому +1

If the roads are passable, who would set off on foot with just a bug out bag? Throw it in the vehicle and take it with you, I don't get the will get you killed part.

Why does the equipment need to come from a store man as one should be learning how to make 99% of ones gear from things found from nature man and as far as your comment regarding your wife not being able to go as fast as you nor being able to carry as much gear as you can may be true however the truth is you dont need that much gear to survive.Have a look at how people from other countries survive and you will see that most of them have very little gear but have no problem surviving in the wilderness.
Now i am not saying these things to be mean nor to attack your channel butt rather to make you think a but The notion that its gotta be based around your car/truck ect. is not practical either. What do people who have no vehicle do in that situation just stay home and die ?
