So pleasant to watch and listen to you, Dimitra!! Thank you!! I am from South Italy and these diples are so similar to our chiacchiere, a traditional mardi gras sweet we make in February, yet another clear sign of South Italy being a part of Magna Grecia, and of Italian culture haveing been connected to Mother Greece for thousands of years.

I miss Diples, in Milwaukee WI, they have a beautiful Greek Orthodox Church designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, that is where I gained my appreciation for Greek cuisene. They threw a wonderful festival with tons of Greek pastries and dishes and the Athenian Ckicken was so good the line stretched for more than an hour and we were all pleased to wait.

Origins of Diples is from Peloponnese region. In the 1960's, when we traveled to the other parts of Greece, we asked for Diples and no-one knew what we were talking about. Now, it is well known to the rest Greece.

I should have been Greek and I might have some ancestors. I dearly love honey syrup and all the desserts. Every year we have a Greek Festival that is awesome. I make Kataifi hopefully that is spelled correctly. I am so fond of shredded phyllo but am having trouble finding it now in local grocery stores. This recipe I definitely want to try! Thanks so much. Another great recipe for the holidays that I can share with my grandkids!

Have you ever tried Greek honey? It's the best!! It has the consistency of caramel and so much delicious flavor.

Dimitra's Dishes no I was worried about the description. I have a local farmer but I am really picky and when you said thyme and woody taste I thought not for me but then you said caramel so I might? Thanks!! Love the recipe though. I am making it today!

The health benefits of local, raw honey are unmatchable, but as far as flavor goes, I haven't tasted anything better :)

How long do diples keep? Im beyond excited to have found your video. Im 62 and have been longing to learn to make them! I finally found my γιαγια's recipe...I "absolutely loved them! My mother and θεια's all NEVER attempted them. ..as they are tricky to roll. I didnt realize the ability my KitchenAid had to make this easier!!!! All added to my Christmas list....wish me luck!!!

Thank you for the Video , Dimitra. You are a wonderful chef. My grandmother would make these from the 1950s to the 1970sand how I miss it. May I make one suggestion from one Greek American to another? I would watch my grandma and she did not crowd the frying container and fewer diples in the kettle would be easier to manage. Thank you again!
